NEW AND IMPROVED CPR

"You know you're doing it right when you hear the ribs crack." Those words -- spoken by a paramedic teaching me how to do CPR -- have always stuck with me. They made sense at the time: In order for traditional CPR to work, the rescuer needs to compress the victim's sternum by at least an inch-and-a-half to two inches, over and over again -- and doing that can definitely result in a cracked rib or two.
But a new CPR technique, devised by Leslie Geddes, PhD, DSc, Showalter Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Purdue University's Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, does away with both cracked ribs and mouth to mouth resuscitation (a concern due to the risk of infection), while also pumping 40% more oxygen-rich blood through the heart. Since conventional CPR has a success rate of just 5% to 10%, Dr. Geddes was looking for a better form of CPR that would improve blood flow and be easier for one person to perform. The technique, known as "Only Abdominal Compression" or OAC-CPR, works by pushing rhythmically on the abdomen (above the belly button), instead of the chest, to squeeze blood through the circulatory system. At the same time, the compression forces the diaphragm to move rhythmically so that air flows into and out of the lungs. In the preliminary tests on pigs Dr. Geddes and his colleagues have done thus far, there's no apparent increased risk of injury to internal organs using OAC-CPR or any increase in the victim's risk of vomiting.
NOT YET OFFICIAL
Dr. Geddes has great hopes that this new form of CPR will gain popularity and save lives -- though he says it will take time before it becomes official. Research is underway to learn more about risks and benefits, and a device Dr. Geddes and his team developed to make the procedure easier needs to be reviewed by the government before it can be recommended for use on people. We'll keep you posted.

Gleia, welcome back : )

Steve and Chris, the ‘get a room’ board is too funny, love that the execs took it on and have the Climax humor going on, ‘expecting sweteno attitude at company picnic’ but the following made me say oh s**t and laugh right out loud, so funny:
AtoZ - “I can feel the words but not the bod.” 10/10/08
ZtoA - “If you had the bills you could cop the feel.” 1014/08

Caroline, Jackie, Lindi(?)
I thought the women’s room sentiments were so complimentary to both anonz and I, I really was not expecting that, these are clearly the kind of women I speak of when I say ‘women for other women’ and so my thanks for the compliment is heartfelt. I appreciate you being for us rather than just wanting to make some kind of teenaged play for my sweet pea, hahaha…
Although, CJL, I was half expecting some Mcsteamy-dreamy A-Z & Z-A luvstuff on that board, or is that what you erase every eve?
Jackie, you were extra complimentary, saying I’m a good role model, wow…thank you. I left you a message at my site after Mischa’s site server went out last night. But, I wanted to address your q’s from yesterday…

The Climax experience is not to be shared, Mischa and I have crossed the boundary and discussed it a few times, but I’m afraid I can’t say here, sorry.

Last week’s dream/visit (as claimed by Viv ‘coming down for a taste bc of the heat between anonz and I’ hmmm, he never identified himself as Viv as I recall it) was a very visceral experience, tough to articulate and like nothing I have ever experienced or even dreamt of experiencing before. Of course there was some sensuality/sex thrown in but that was not the focus nor was it just a bunch of body parts at work, for lack of better wording to describe the event, it felt like an awakening of some kind…not sure but to say it was a felt like a luvfest (at least for me) is an understatement, though if it was a visit by Viv, hey man, next time can you set me down in my bed a bit gentler, it felt like my mind/body was thrown through my roof and onto the bed from 200 meters, landing spread eagle on my face. I couldn’t move for a long time, I was immobilized and out of breath. I rarely sleep in this position though it probably looked like I'd had a long night...ah, never mind.
I looked up sleep paralysis (keeps us still when we might be dreaming of falling, jumping, etc…) but it was not that, this was different, much different.

Care to comment, Viv? And you know what I mean, if you were there…

Hey Mischa, how's it? I'm busy until tomorrow late aft, communique then or is Monday eve better?

Luv, Zen Lill

I am Gleia. I have been tasked with understanding why the planet earth can not be admitted to our universal family of inhabited planets.

Understanding the enemy is the most important element when forming a strategy to confront one's adversary. It is crucial when forming the tactics necessary to defeat that adversary.

Earthlings are not the enemy of my people. If earth was I could vanquish it single handedly. It is a society so primitive as to be of little consequence militarily to us.

I have been charged with understanding the state of affairs on the planet earth by my commander. As a military combatant I see the psychology of understanding the problem through my military training.

When you judge the validity of my statements about what the problem is and the wisdom of the solution of that problem keep that in mind.

How much money it too much? That is a question that is inconceivable to the hierarchy of the republican party? It is surely true of some of the members of the democratic party. But it is not the operating creed of that party.

That is the difference between the two parties. Money, enough! When is it enough? The head of the republicans can not conceive of enough. Greed is a non existent concept to these people.

In order to gain more money anything and everything is expendable.

The understanding of that creed is so important to understanding the state of the world as it is today. Everything that happens is a by product of that creed.

The problem as I see it is very complex. However one sentence will sum it up. In order to gain more money anything and everything is expendable.

Those who believe they hold the power on earth are divided into camps with different philosophies. Some are influenced by their religious beliefs, others by nationalism, and still others by racism.

Those that hold the real power on earth are influenced by their creed only. "In order to gain more money anything and everything is expendable." For the sake of conversational convenience let's call them Gab.

The Gabs use those that believe they hold the power on earth by motivating them thorough the factors that motivate them most, religion, nationalism, or racism. Again for the sake of conversational convenience let's call this group that believe they hold the power the Fools, I like it.

The Fools use religion, nationalism and racism sprinkled generously with the opportunity for financial gain and/or the opportunity for control over their females to motivate their particular followers. For the sake of conversational convenience let's call those followers the Sheep.

It is necessary to account for those groups, people who are not motivated by those things (some are partially, but not centrally). They are influenced chiefly by a desire to see an environmentally safe world and/or a world of social equality. Let's call them Dreamers.

Thus, earth as I see it, is divided into four succinct categories. Everyone on the planet whether he or she wants to admit it or not belongs to one of those categories.

It is that simple.

The problem is complicated by the fact that the most powerful player technologically is the USA. The people who manage this technology are the stupidest bunch of white males on the planet. They have formed a private club for themselves from which they seek to influence the other would be power players(the Fools) of the world.

The world's problems could have been solved 30 years ago if the single advice given to all sitting US presidents by the Fools was "lead your nation to energy independence."

The problem with giving that advice would be it would violate the creed of the Gabs. Energy from oil was a big source of money to them. So it was never given.

If the USA becomes energy independent and those in power when it does have real morals(not influenced by the creed or any of the other three influences), the world could be set on course towards harmony environmentally and socially.

I will discuss more later after input from my commander.
