I made a campaign contribution to Obama. I hope every here will consider doing the same.

One thing though, when I tried to pay this little blurb below came up. I don't understand how this is relevant if I am making the contribution from my own bank account.

"Federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in an election cycle."

I could only contribute $100 today but I was still forced to put this in before my payment would be processed. Can someone explain why this was necessary?

I've learned to shrug off what Barack's opponents say about him. We know who he really is: a wonderful father and leader who's in this because he wants to make a difference in people's lives.

But not everyone knows him as you and I do. And because of the nonstop negative ads the other side is running against him, we'll have to work even harder to remind folks who Barack really is.

Tonight's fundraising deadline is one of the most important we'll face together. I hope you'll take the chance to show you've got Barack's back -- chip in $5 or more before midnight.

Campaigns are never easy, and we're lucky to have supporters like you by our side.

The other side is outspending us, and they're stepping up their attacks. But we'll be standing strong, thanks to the support of nearly 3 million people who are helping win this election the right way.

What we do between now and midnight is going to play a big part in making that happen, so please pitch in whatever you can before then:

As always, thank you.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/08/30/michael-tomasky-on-paul-ryan-s-convention-speech-and-his-web-of-lies.html

oh baby, love the line Daily Beast threw in under his video and I get it, to the indoctrinated this dude does look like a 'nice young man' (with a deep understanding that he delivers one liner lies very well, it's no wonder he's a gOp pick for veep)...my fave line(s)from DB is this, 'Analysis of the fact that Ryan can lie the way he does requires the skills of a psychologist. All I can say is that we’re in new territory—a Republican trying to own a Democratic issue, and doing so on the basis of a couple of lies so blatant that he’s practically saying to the Democrats and the media: “Fuck you, come and get me. You can’t touch me.”

Well, Dems (and undecided's, who are you this election?) as DB also says, 'So the Democrats have to raise their game. They’ve never had to encounter this kind of buttery demagoguery before.' Buttery LSOS demagoguery, indeed.
