From Billy Graham's Wikipedia article:
"He refused to join Jerry Falwell's Moral Majority in 1979, saying: 'I'm for morality, but morality goes beyond sex to human freedom and social justice.

We as clergy know so very little to speak with authority on the Panama Canal or superiority of armaments. Evangelists cannot be closely identified with any particular party or person.

We have to stand in the middle in order to preach to all people, right and left. I haven't been faithful to my own advice in the past. I will be in the future.'" Sadly he wasn't.

Only the most die-hard haters of the Evangelical movement voted for Romney. The way to fix this is simple. Control your operatives. Order them to step-down on the vitriol, the hate.

President Obama won because of his cautious reasoning, not his knee-jerk Bible passages. The right tends to knee-jerk too much. Those flippant response do not and will not attract anyone who has not already imbibed the kool-aid.

So now take my response and crumble it up in a ball and throw it in the trash. Nothing will change and barring a catastrophe, another Democrat will be elected next time.

"the authority of the Bible?" I hope Mr. Wallis was kidding when he said that. Because that is the central problem - people basing their politics on their interpretation of the "authority of the Bible."

From history and current affairs, we know that people "of faith" have been able to pick passages of the Bible to defend slavery and the like .... as well as assisting the poor.

My suggestion is rather than rely on "authorities" outside the human sphere, let us all be humanists: providing human solutions to human problems without the baggage of artificial differentiation introduced by theology.

Franklin Graham did his best on Morning Joe.
"Obama SAYS HE'S A CHRISTIAN...I TAKE HIS WORD FOR IT"
& proceeded to imply, as only a conartist supreme could, that Obama
was a closet Muslim. (Joe Scar was *absent that day*)

The younger co-host & others went after Pastor Rev. Graham the younger
again and again making things very uncomfortable for him
and for right wing propaganda posing as theocratic deep thought.

The religious right are not now, nor have they ever been a Christian affiliation.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

These are values that the religious right condemn.
