Speaking to Rotarians this afternoon, Lamorena talked about drug addiction being a major problem on the island. In 2002 the Adult Drug Court was created and over the last decade has helped several hundred drug users fight their addictions.

Many of the adult drug court defendants were committing other crimes to maintain their drug addiction. “Those people are burglarizing, stealing and robbing people.

The drug dealers are selling a particular potent drug. It is almost addictive from the first use. This is not weed.

People, wise up. When someone offers you a high for free, it is NOT free. They are trying to get you hooked so you will become a customer.

If someone offers you Ice for free, they are setting you up for a dreadful time once they have made you an addict. That is their intention. The drug is made with a new chemical that makes it very addictive.
