You commenters are very good at lobbying personal attacks and suppositions. My comments went right over your heads. Some of you seem go have an axe to grind and will grind it at every opportunity. Meaningful discussion is a rarity here. Constructive dialogue is missing. How much have any of you actually accomplished in the real world furthering your goals? What have you done to actually further your causes? Piss and moan here so you can feel effective? I say you all just take whining to a new level - white black green or blue. I can take your hate and hateful comments even if Al can't. I know who I am. I know what's in my heart. I know what I DO not just say to make the world better for everyone regardless of the color of their skin. Your hateful blathering doesn't help anyone. You're perpetuating hate. If that makes you feel better what does that say about your soul? I'm entitled to my opinion just like the rest of you. I merely made an observation I believe in. And look at the hate lobbed my way. I think I'll call this the haters blog going forward.

Zen Lill, I'm a white male who agrees with you. I also agree with Al to a point. I don't like the term "White Boy" either. However, I understand that minorities don't like the names we call them.

The fact that we as the race in power in America can back up our verbal insults with actions that impact very negatively on them makes our insults more threatening.

Why that fact would be missed by Al is beyond me.

The minorities on this blog are acting out their frustration with how they feel we whites are treating them by calling them "White Boys." Those whites who they feel are racist against them or generally stupid when they support political positions that are incomprehensible to them, such as the majority of our race's tendency to support gun ownership without supporting background checks to buy those guns are tagged "White Boys."

They can't as a group vote any of our white men out of power positions they enjoy and employ their racist or bigoted behavior from. Calling us "White Boy" is all the power they have. They can't force us to change legislation in any way.

The actions of SCOTUS presently deciding whether they will be able to vote without hassle in some southern states is an example. The thousands of laws passed to deny women the right to birth control or many other forms of health care in another example.

We whites have no idea what it must be like to have to sit on the sidelines and wait for a bunch of white people to decide you fate. How Al figures that compares to his having to read someone using the words "White Boy" is simply ludicrous.

Just as ludicrous is Bree writing in saying All racist's words are equal. Only the group in power who has no fear of the other groups would make a disingenuous statement like that.

All racism isn't equal. Sticking with your race because you prefer that race is one thing. Doing it and using the power of that group's racism to impact negatively on another race is serious. And that is the issue here.

Al's angst was not a serious one. If it bothered him, then he could stop reading that post. If minorities don't like what we as the race in power are doing to them they do not have that option. Ignoring our racists acts against them won't lessen the harm . They have to endure it.

Encouraging Al in his disproportional rant is wrong in so many ways. It actually says to the minorities that some members of our race are so narcissistic that any discomfort suffered by whites is intolerable while the recognition of their slights are dependent upon, as SCOTUS demonstrates, how the majority of us whites feel about them.

Al, you know better. If you are so psychologically incapacitated by the term "White Boy," then don't read that post. But for you to disparage the entire blog because you have issues with those two words is immature at best and self-absorbed and dogmatic at worst.

We can help Al best by not taking the bait that we whites have to fear the racism of the minorities. We have the law to come to our aid. We whites use the law to discriminate against the minorities.

That is the difference.

Roberta and others,
it's also important to remember not to play/fall into it w/men either, they are cagier than any female any day when they want to play the wounded bird routine they often accuse women of...they'll have you believing they're discriminated against also (reverse this!), yup and you're still a white man who can get away with lots...

I don't care how attracted you may be to any one male, make it know that your a feminist and find out if they are with you on that, not in that bullshitty liar kinda way...you know what I mean. You can feel it, a wuss will head for the nearest dummy, let him have her and sorry ladies if you're going to act like a dummy and play in, you'll be treated that way bc men often do not care as long as their needs get met.

Be willing to make your own needs/wants known and if he doesn't want the same or refuses for whatever reason, ask him to step off and softly whisper...next...(or see my last sentence here, and say nothing until you need to) - now here's the caveat, I've seen otherwise bright women play right into 'I stand by my man' (it's cool though at least admit - to yourself - that your doing lock step to keep da peace, it's when you BS yourself you run into big troubs) or 'there's not enough good ones around' (oh bull, there are some good ones, believe me) and etc, etc...don't fall prey to this and behave/act/speak how you think they want you to be, be heard, have a voice, if you don't like what you see/hear speak up!
(Or keep him around if he's got a nine inch personality but don't count on any personal back up/serious thang - Bree, this was for you!)

There's a lot of closet racists out there...I take issues with slobs, jerks, rude mannered and judgmental peeps in general and I don't care what color or creed you are. If you behave like a classless base human than I won't speak or regard you highly, why should I?

I got Al's complaint, he just doesn't feel he fits into the category so why does he need to hear it...I think it escalated very quickly and he got overly tweaked. It's happened before here and I'm sure it'll happen again....likely to me after saying this : ) though sorry, I'll always TRY to see Al and Howie's version and how things may have gone awry due to blog writes not having same communication style as in person, I'm good at viewing from all sides, we all know that...

Farmers in 2011 discovered that the corn plants that Monsanto Co. genetically modified to thwart a voracious bug are falling prey to that very pest in a few Iowa fields, the first time a major Midwest scourge has developed resistance to a genetically modified crop.

The discovery raises concerns that the way some farmers are using biotech crops could spawn superbugs.

Great, Superweeds and Superbugs. I expect a video game. "What fools these mortals be!" It's almost like War of the Worlds, only we are the aliens, and Mother Earth is getting ready to kill us off with bugs.

Social Butterfly, men just don't care about the needs of women. They figure they don't have to because they can count on a significant number of women like Bree to be apologist for their behavior.

Solidarity is the only thing that will stop white boys in this country from preventing women gaining equal rights and total control over their bodies.
