http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/15/rob-portman-gay-marriage_n_2881805.html
Sen Portman (R) Mr GOP has changed his stance on gay marriage bc HIS son came out and now HE wants HIS son to have the same opportunities everyone else has...
I'm LOL-ing and shaking my head at the hypocrisy and then LOL-ing again, R's are shameless in their ability to be all about themselves.

Has anyone else considered that this Pope was elected from the "North Americas" because he's Latino and the relationship to the fact the catholic church is grasping for relevancy? I asked you to consider:

Latinos will own the population of the United States in the near future (money, voting power) and are still quite religious as a society.

The world discriminates against darker skin - EVERY SOCIETY, black white brown yellow -- the Church is run by old white men. They wouldn't possibly have elected the Nigerian (Francis Arinze ) or the Ghanan (Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson). They proposed them, to show their followers they are their image (subtle brainwashing ,not unlike the republican party, dangling a carrot that they don't want to share, in my opinion).

And the fact that the old Pope had his own skeletons in the closet the church was scrambling to suppress while dealing with the massive failure of their PR campaign to battle the fallout from worldwide sexual allegations and lawsuits. If their current pope were outed, it was over as they knew it. (I'd like to hear Howie or Adam the time traveler or anyone who knows, tell us the truth about why the old guy resigned. I am aware but not clear about the "dirt" there. I'd say if I knew.)

The US is fractured religiously but So America has a lot of followers to pull from. The US economy will be driven by the new class of consumer slaves and consumers...Hispanics. In less than 30 years whites are in the minority. If the economy hadn't tanked a few years back, I'd have even wagered on less than 25 years. An almost "generation" away. Some of your children; some of your grandchildren.

It's control. Religion is control. I ask myself and anybody listening, do humans really need someone to tell them what is right or wrong? I have a internal moral compass. Doesn't everyone? I feel better when I do something nice for someone. I feel bad when I hurt something or someone. It's pretty simple.

The pope (the Poop?) coming from S. America was very cleverly orchestrated in subtle intentional manipulative ways.

The republican right, koch brothers, church, showed their political muscle because they could band together unlike democrats and unlike WOMEN (who never have/(will?) and control the vote. (BTW Koch brothers are buying the LA Times: investment or intentional control?)

The church wants their piece of the pie and control and certainly their coffers full of tithes, worldwide, not just in the US. I think they are looking to the Latino/Hispanic population as their key. Again,if the majority votes together, they control (again, are you listening women?)

Has anyone else considered this angle?

~Lily~

(BTW Obama hasn't fulfilled the expectation many aliens had in his leadership. They might have glanced this way if a black pope were elected. But in my humble opinion, they know humans for greedy racist creatures and many dont give us a second glance [sad, at a time we need their help and cooperation as never before,])

If any of you religious people pray, THATs what you pray for .. HELP! From sources outside yourselves. Humans are on a fast train to destruction with no conductor.

Fellow Democrat,

On December 14, 2012, a deranged killer wielding an assault weapon with high-capacity ammunition magazines shot his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

That horrific event shocked our nation, and the pictures of the victims brought tears to the eyes of millions of Americans.

The massacre in Newtown was, sadly, not an anomaly. From Aurora, Colorado, to Tucson, Arizona, to Blacksburg, Virginia, these mass shootings all too clearly demonstrate the need to regulate deadly assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.

Help me regulate these dangerous weapons. Sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of the new Assault Weapons Ban of 2013.

Earlier this year, I introduced the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 because I firmly believe that weapons designed for war have no place on our streets.

Debate on this critical bill started last Thursday in the Senate Judiciary Committee, and we passed it on to the full Senate this morning.

Since Newtown, there have been more incidents of assault weapon violence. We cannot wait idly by as this continues all over our country.

My bill will stop the sale, transfer, importation, and manufacture of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition feeding devices, while protecting the rights of law-abiding Americans to own weapons for sporting and safety purposes.

But as debate will begin soon in the full Senate, I need your support to show my colleagues that Americans stand behind stronger, commonsense gun regulation.

Take action now, and sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of the commonsense measures in this legislation that will reduce gun violence in our country.

The debate has already started, and that's a testament to the power our voices can have. But your support is crucial right now. Together, we can stop these senseless acts of violence.

Thank you for your support,

Electing Republicans to run government is like hiring vegetarians to manage a steakhouse. They are opposed to the idea of "government of the people for the people".

Their goal is privatize government and hand it over to their wealthy friends. If Snyder and the Republicans are NOT voted out, Michigan will be another Arizona. Eventually, even your State capital building will be sold off to private interests and leased back.

This won't save any money, but it will enrich the private interests at taxpayer expense.Same with Michigan's prisons or any other asset the state owns or controls, they will be privatized.

If you live in a state run by Republicans, read this Harper's article on Arizona, this will be your eventual fate. Link: http://harpers.org/archive/201...
