The Turks had beter make up their minds to protect Kobane. It is a town on their border and if they allow ISIS to take it over they will eventually invade Turkey.

The Kurds are naturally wary of the Turks as they have been at war with them for decades, but a common enemy like ISIS can make you allies if not friends.

Obama is wise to wait and force common sense between these two antagonists. The Turks must put boots on the ground to defend Kobane.

The forecast calls for lots of rain this weekend as a storm brews to the east of us.

That's sweater weather for Guam -- a perfect time for cuddling up with your loved ones and eating a steaming bowl of soup.

There are three versions of island favorite go-tos when it's raining. Be sure to tell us on Facebook what your favorite go-to soups are or tag us on Instagram @pacificdailynews.

Local favorite
Kaddon mannok, kaddon beef shank, kaddon binådo, kaddon uhang -- when it comes to eating local soup, known as kadu, you can check off all the favorites just like you were a Guam version of Bubba from "Forrest Gump."

Kadu almost always is fairly simple: a flavor hefty protein, like rich beef shank full of fatty marrow paired with a vegetable, like leafy cabbage.

Sometimes it gets kicked up a notch with coconut milk thrown into specialties like kaddon binådu (deer soup) and exotic, yet very local pumpkin tips.

What's great about kadu now is that you don't have to check nana's back kitchen for a bowl. Everywhere from Kings Restaurants and even Denny's, to smaller local spots, including the longtime diner Linda's and Your Choice, serves it up.

Asian
If you've caught a chill from the rain, there's one spicy Thai soup that's sure to clear your head up.

Tom Yum is a clear soup, tinged red from tangy tomatoes and flaming Thai peppers. While the peppers will warm your taste buds, other aromatics, including kaffir lime, lemon grass and cilantro will wake them up.

You can order Tom Yum in chicken, shrimp and even tofu at most Thai restaurants, including Khaohom Thai entering East Hagåtña and even Pika's Best Thai favorite Ban Thai in Tumon.

American
Classic American comfort style soup comes almost exclusively at Winchells on Guam.

Grabbing a scalding cup of creamy clam chowder with a side of saltines is almost a tradition for anyone who's feeling chilly and a little under the weather.

But Winchell's also serves other popular soups including a tasty beef vegetable and chicken noodle soup.

You can still find other versions of clam chowder at other restaurants on island including Capricciosa and even Beachin' Shrimp in Paradise Island in Tumon.

Yesterday, Lawrence #12, perhaps you should read part 2, that's what I said ... botched attempt, evidence the maids could find but SS cannot is pure and utter BS, it was a sign.

Lia #15, yes I thought the same thing after I commented, another set back for women bc they needed a patsy and she fit the bill. It was likely part of her ascension plan.

Harry #19, nope ... and that's unfortunate. Between society/religious upbringing most white women are boxes of rocks for brains, maybe they'll wake up maybe they won't ... keep focusing them on being thin enough and fashionable enough and this n that enough and ity won't ever change ...

Okay, the cop definitely wayyyy over-reacted and acted before there was 3 seconds to think (oh, what's that?!) ...
but ... wtf seriously, no special Walmart special policy for carrying a purchased something/air rifle that looks like an assault rifle(?!),
that's major stupidity on the stores part
(and sorry, his, too, a little bit) ...
Even a white woman like me wouldn't carry that thing around a store free style, no cart or box, for exactly that reason, someone might think I'm going to take down Walmart, this is a royal fuck up beyond measure on all parts.
Though If I were the family I'd sue Walmart for stupidity (I'm sure an attorney could elaborate) and the cops (bc that was just a sick and nuts over-reaction to watch).

For some reason, more often than not the white guy, even the murderers, get a chance to give up, instead of just being killed way too fast! The black guy, even when unarmed, end up dead more often, that's why it's in the news more.

When were you ever not allowed to vote, live where you want, work where you wanted, marry who you wanted, go where you wanted without any restrictions? When could you be beaten or killed on sight, without anyone caring or getting in trouble for it? Do you even know your American history? Have you ever been fired or not get the job in the first place just because you're white?

Ever not get a seat at a restaurant, been followed in a store cause they think you're gonna steal, or not get a loan just because you're white? You folks don't understand the history & the decades of extremely poor treatment, you have never experienced it! Then you wanna get mad at us when we protest unfair treatment & you say oh get over it, there is no more slavery & there is a Black President, so in your mind racism is over!

Well it's true that white folks have gotten killed & beaten by Cops too, but you won't ever really feel the problem unless many many more young white men start just getting murdered while unarmed & doing nothing wrong!
