[…] Raquel: Thanks for your kind kudos. I am touched by your words. I always HOPE that this blog can do good for women, here and around the globe. Those stats you posted are horrific. I’m so grateful that the women banned together and voted in a woman president. I certainly HOPE the women here will do the same. […]

Luiza, that is very bad news, I know not everyone is a narc or a sociopath but the effects of being at the hands of one is very damaging to the female psyche. This makes me unhappy and angry that they're allowed to get away with it.

Ivone, you have a point. Under one spell or another. It has to stop somewhere.

Raquel, so good to hear there's change due to madam Rouseff, those numbers are staggering, 40% of murders are in the home, I have no words ... Except yes we need more women in power including our powerful blog commander.

Kudos to you Mischa on heading up this space, soooo glad it's back in action.

Michelle, I don't think you know how powerful this blog is. There were many women in Brazil who read your blog for years and decided to act to elect a woman as President of our country. We succeeded in 2011 to elect Most Excellent Madam, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Her Excellency Madam Dilma Rousseff.

The laws are terrible for women here because men are permitted to treat us as property. Here are some of the results of a government -sponsored study done because we had a woman at its head.

The government-sponsored study, Map of Violence of 2012 (Mapa da Violência de 2012)[5] and its additional notes on female homicides in Brazil,[6] finds that, between 1980 and 2010, 91,930 women were murdered in Brazil; 43,486 of these homicides occurred solely in the past decade.

From 1996 to 2010, the average number of murders of women remained stable at around 4.5 homicides for every 100,000 women.

In relation to statistics on murders of women, Brazil ranked seventh in a ranking of 84 countries, behind El Salvador , Guatemala , the Russian Federation and Colombia .

Within Brazil, the states with the highest rates of violence against women are Espírito Santo, Alagoas and Paraná, respectively, with rates of 9.4 (more than double the national average), 8.3 and 6.3 homicides for every 100,000 women.

Amongst the capital cities, the highest rates are in the Northern Region: Porto Velho, Manaus and Rio Branco. Of all the female murders, 40% of these incidents occurred inside the family home or residence. By comparison, the portion of male murders occurring inside the family residence stood at 14.7%.
----------------------------------------
Thank you Michelle for all your encouragement and continued support of women the world over.

All women risk falling under some man's spell. From religion which Zen Lill accurately described as a tool to keep women docile and obedient to legislation to control our bodies we are under the control of some man.

Let's start with electing a woman. She will most certainly need as Michelle emphasizes "coattails." Let's see if we can give her that. They will be men. Our goal will be to remove any man who does not support equality for women.
