	A Guam son — the chief marshal for the Judiciary of Guam — has been nominated by President Obama to serve as the U.S. Marshal for the Districts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, according to the White House,

Frank Leon Guerrero is one of three nominees for U.S. Marshals that were announced today by the president&#039;s press secretary. Obama also nominated U.S. Marshals for the Western District of Texas and the Western District of Wisconsin.

Leon Guerrero has been the chief marshal for the Judiciary of Guam since 2006. He also served as the Constituent Services Director for Delegate Madeleine Bordallo from 2004 to 2006.

According to the White House, Leon-Guerrero retired as a police major from the Guam Police Department in 2000 after 25 years of service.

Leon Guerrero has served in a variety of positions, including as Officer-in-Charge of the Guam Police Training Section, as special assistant to the Chief of Police, commander for Agana Precinct, and he was designated as the “Incident Commander” for Guam Police in the event of a major crisis situation, the White House stated.

Leon Guerrero attended the University of Guam and received an associate’s degree from Guam Community College in 1983.

		<description><![CDATA[MEDITATION CUTS HEART ATTACK RISK IN HALF

When I was in high school, I wanted to take a class in Transcendental Meditation, but it was expensive. A friend who did enroll in the program told me that it was all built upon repetition of a secret word that would lead to an enlightened state... and, maddeningly, she wouldn’t reveal the word!

 All these years later, I’m pretty sure I don’t need it -- being in the business of studying health research, I realize that this is just one form of meditation and I’ve seen countless reports on its magical benefits, from controlling blood pressure to reducing anxiety and depression to lowering levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.

 And now, a recent study that happens to focus specifically on Transcendental Meditation (TM) shows that it cuts rates of heart attack, stroke and death by nearly half.

BETTER THAN ANY MEDICINE

Meditation can bring about a state of deep relaxation in which your heart rate, blood pressure and respiration slow down, giving your cardiovascular system a much needed rest.

 TM is a particular brand of meditation that is &quot;simple and precise,&quot; I was told by Robert Schneider, MD, professor of physiology and health at Maharishi University of Management in Iowa.

 It is practiced for 20 minutes twice a day while sitting comfortably with eyes closed and silently repeating a calming word to produce &quot;a natural state of restful alertness.&quot;

 Dr. Schneider said that the health benefits of regular TM potentially include not only lower heart rate and blood pressure, but also reduced total cholesterol and insulin resistance, less need for blood pressure medication and a slowing or reversal of the hardening of arteries that contributes to heart disease.

Building on the results of past meditation research, Dr. Schneider and his colleagues examined the specific effect of TM on heart disease patients.

 In a randomized controlled trial, they assigned 201 men and women (average age 59) with narrowing of cardiovascular arteries to either a TM group or a control group.

 For an average of five years, all participants received regular medical care, including medication as needed and lifestyle advice about risk factors such as diet and exercise.

 In addition, the TM group meditated for 20 minutes twice a day at home while the control group attended classes on cardiovascular health.

Dr. Schneider and his colleagues found that participants who had meditated...

Experienced a 47% reduction in heart attacks, strokes and death, compared with those who did not.
Reduced their blood pressure by an average of five points.

Had significant reductions in psychological stress as measured by standard psychological tests.

Sponsored by the NIH, the study was done collaboratively by researchers at the Medical College of Wisconsin and the Maharishi University. Findings were presented at an annual meeting of the American Heart Association in Orlando last November.

A POWERFUL LIFESTYLE CHOICE

Dr. Schneider equates the dramatic effect of TM on heart patients to the discovery of a whole new class of drug therapy -- one that taps into the body’s own natural pharmacy of healing resources.

In Dr. Schneider’s opinion, TM’s heart benefits cannot automatically be generalized to other meditation techniques since they weren’t studied.

 That said, you can learn more about other ways to meditate (and meditation in general) at Web sites such as www.relaxationresponse.org and www.how-to-meditate.org.

 Additional options include guided imagery or visualization (in which you imagine specific images during meditation)... 

mindfulness meditation (an increased awareness of the present moment)...

Some jack at a party told me I looked like Ann Coulter, ahhahaha, yeah after I stopped laughing I said, she wishes she had this, I gestured at my bod and then tapped my head pointing to my brain. He thought that was funny, then asked if I was a liberal - hmm, hate labels so I said I&#039;m an Indie and I am a believer in the power of women, and you? I swear, the weirdest shit turns men on, he looked like he was ready for me right then and there, hahaha...

Shouldn&#039;t SP&#039;s book be &#039;going fugue&#039; rather than &#039;going rogue&#039;? 

Howie and Al, fyi, there are many 8-12 year old&#039;s who are insisting we do a &#039;fly by to florida&#039; to check on you when we do Superwoman/man position, I have some tight asses in that class now : ) so how are you and are you ready to be healed? And if not, I get it, but don&#039;t depart yet, I&#039;m not ready for another void in my life (but it&#039;s not about me, now is it?) but if you want my opinion, you ain&#039;t done here yet, son (bro) : ) 

Ok, oh...Torrie, thanks for asking after me, must admit I&#039;ve been better but it will all be great again soon, doing things the ZL way isn&#039;t always the easiest road but it&#039;s the only road I can take, I just keep my &#039;end game for everyone&#039; visual in mind and proceed, daily...

My kid told me that if your hand is larger than your face you may run the risk of cancer, I told her that that info sounded questionable and asked her about scientific evidence back up, etc...she said don&#039;t you want to know if your at risk? I said oh ok and I put my hand in front on my face, she smashed it into my nose saying nope your good, laughing her ass off, so I had to laugh my ass off, too. Try it on someone it&#039;s pretty funny : )
