Ok, Mischa, here's my two on the two party system and I say it whenever I see people getting into it on any subject matter really, for any viewpoint/school of thought there is an exact opposite viewpoint/school of thought, nowhere has this been evidenced more than in politics and parenting (oddly enough, I wasn't expecting that when I chose to bring forward my little gift from the universe to humankind)...and whether it's either pol/parenting, there is rarely a showing of gradation (various shades of gray that reflect the majority) no, there is usually polarized ideology coming forth from both parties. I find it intriguing that around the world most countries have more than 2 parties in a major election and most have women on the ballot as commonplace (except Singapore, more or less a 1 party system : ) so why not the US...bc the powers that be (and that is not Obama nor his somewhat equal repug counterpoint) don't fund anything, large multi-nationals do, and they only fund the major 2 with opposing views, sigh...

I'm a registered Indie though if I had to name what I am I'd say it's mostly Libertarian, there are distinctions of philosophies even amongst Lib's though I'd have to say I'm for individual liberty, limited government, peace and a free market - there's a lot more to it but for now I think that covers it...any other specific q's? I think a true Lib party has been hard to come by bc whetehr you are a dem or a repug the words 'limited government' isn't something that's been sought after, not really.

...and so having a Lib party that is taken seriously is hard. And, just as there is an atheist organization 'the church of the unchurched' who meet and exchange rational thoughts on what moral/immoral is and how to live it without invoking a God, but, hmm, are they/would they ever be taken seriously by either party? Apparently Dem or Repug president after president has had to proclaim that he's a man of faith, well what if he wasn't but he had a thorough grasp on things as a free thinker? How would a true Lib even approach the people, the people of the US who seem to believe even still that our government is there to take care of them (much like God the father, no?).

well...I don't believe in either party in totality, Dems have it wrapped in the women's rights arena but that in and of itself pisses me off, why should we have to stand forward to 'gain' rights that are a natural part of being born male? I take issue with that. They also tend to be an intellectual bunch, well read and spoken but what, too good to vote? No cajones to drive the bandwagon all the way?
Repugs, on the other hand, think they stand for 'traditional family values' and as we all know - pretty much every family has a gay member (even one who votes repug doesn't fly under the radar here) and a lush (love that word) and a (name anything non-traditional) they just sweep it under the table and carry on. The Christians guise this as the well we're all sinners and oh yes, we sure are...though hmm, define sin to me again? I think as long as what I do doesn't harm another it's all good.

Thanks for letting me rant : ) Luv, ZL

...and here's my exact quote, copied and pasted just for you : )

'...Misch, I wanted to say something re: your comment on the phone about Obama and repugs/racists ‘…not wanting a black man to suceed…’ I agree to a certain degree, in this case I think it’s just as much the crappy economy with very slow growth/change therein - historically people want to see ‘change’ when that happens. Obama - just my opinion - was a rising star at the wrong timing…if give different circun stances where the economy was booming even the racists would take a chill. '

If you'd like to quote me, please get it right otherwise you are simply pushing your own agenda and adding my name to it for whatever your personal reasons may be.

Thanks, ZL

I never said republicans were not racist I said that mid term elections were lost as much bc of a crap economy as much as racism. A different story. Just bc George and old white males, who btw at least showed up to VOTE (hello arrogant dems who did not), claim that Obama and all otws should know their place that doesn't mean all white people (including me) feel that way at all.

Lately, I think there's a lot of people haboring an I'm better than you mentality and it isn't just a white thang baby...personally -

I take issue just as much with white trash as I do any other color trash, and I'm sorry but I would classify George and his ilk as redneck white trash. If that's the majority who wants their country back, oyvey, fucking take it bc I want a new one.
