About

michelle1Who is Michelle Moquin?

I am a “Creative Expressionist”That is what I call myself these days. I am no longer just a designer. Although there is nothing wrong with being just a designer, but for me, it feels too limiting. I want to be able to express my creativity in as many ways as possible.

One of the ways that I express myself is through this venue: my blog. I love writing daily where I get to express my ideas and my thoughts on many things that I am passionate about….things that matter most to me. I care deeply about many things, and I am inspired by all. And if you care to know about any of them, please read my blog. You might be pleasantly surprised that we may have many things in common. :)

I speak openly and freely on my blog, and I don’t edit anything I say just because people are reading.  So come and join in on the lively conversations. It is truly an experience. I encourage you to be open minded as there are a lot of topics that are discussed here, as well as a variety of beings, human and otherwise that leave comments! Don’t be shy… At the very least you will definitely be entertained!

So..what else?

Well…to me, being a “Creative Expressionist” means creativity has its place in all aspects of my life, from the bigger things that I mentioned above, the things that I care deeply about,  to designing my own personal life. AND let’s not forget all of the little things in between that actually make up my life: from cooking to cleaning, from hooping to helping, from dancing to decorating to dressing. Ah, yes dressing – that is where you and I can have some fun together! More on that later.

My life, who I am, what I do, and how I do it, is all about expressing myself creatively. Do you get that being a “Creative Expressionist” is important to me?!

So you may ask, “What exactly is a “Creative Expressionist”? Well….the definitions are below but like definitions that are limited by words, these words too, are limited.

creative - adjective

relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas, esp. in the production of an artistic work : change unleashes people’s creative energy | creative writing.

• (of a person) having good imagination or original ideas : Homer, the creative genius of Greek epic.

noun: a person who is creative, typically in a professional context.

expressionism  - noun

a style of painting, music, or drama in which the artist or writer seeks to express emotional experience rather than impressions of the external world.

Voila! There you have it defined. But as I said, I don’t like the limitations of the definition. When it comes to being creative, I don’t stay within the lines, I think out of the box, and I like to break the rules. You get where I’m coming from, yes?

I am all about the visual.

Even when I am writing my blog which is the least visual of my creative passions, I try to make it fun to read the words….I want the words to not only be mellifluous if you were to read them out loud, but I want them to visually look interesting as you peruse the page reading. Not sure whether I accomplish this or not on a daily basis…After three years of blogging every day, I am still getting used to the idea that I can write.

And dare I call myself a writer?! Being creative is in the forefront of my mind as I write every day. But even more important is that I care so much about what I write. I want my words to be expressed clearly so that there is no question in the meaning, and the points that I am trying to make. It is important to me that I articulate well. I am a responsible writer, and I take full responsibility for my writing, should I be misunderstood in any way, shape, or form.

Now if you’re talking design, in regards to people (here is where we get to have some fun!), the visual is numero uno. That being said, “styling” is my new passion..well…maybe not so new, but compared to fashion and “design clothing”, which I have been doing for a pretty long time, “helping people” with their “style” has been the most inspirational for me presently.

Hence, my talent as a designer has helped me evolve into a “Specialist in Styles” Wardrobe Consultant, which allows me to be the “Creative Expressionist” that I so love being. And more importantly, allows me to utilize my talent to help you to discover, define, and refine your unique and personal style.
