Good morning.

I mentioned I was exhausted yesterday from saying the words, “Do something”. Is that really the truth? No. I said it more out of frustration. Frustration of the times and what I have been reading. It’s really no skin off my back to encourage people to get involved and “do something”. In fact, I  rather  like it. A lot. But I also like results. We have two choices: 1) We’re either going to do it…or 2) We’re not.

Now here’s a person who is exhausted and her exhaustion, unlike mine, I feel is warranted.

I am exhausted listening to people talking about their exhaustion defending the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama. As I listened to the lady at the recent town hall meeting who said she was exhausted with trying to defend President Obama to others who are disenchanted, I became even more exhausted.

Not once did I hear her say that she was exhausted with the obstructionisms, the odious smears, innuendos and lies being told about our president. I also did not hear her say that she would do all she could to discourage the GOP from blocking and preventing most of the progressive, humane agenda that the president has laid out to benefit all of America’s citizens.

What is so troubling to me is that Democrats are sitting back and allowing the tea party and the Republicans to dominate the conversation by perverting all the good the Obama Administration is doing. These detractors are deliberately twisting and distorting the truth. Their 24/7 attention to the constant repetition of lies has so numbed and confused the average person that they are accepting these lies as the truth.

I am exhausted listening to people criticizing and disrespecting our president.

I am exhausted listening to all the ranting and ravings of the tea partiers and ultra conservative Republicans, all designed to derail the Obama presidency.

I’m exhausted realizing how many stupid, non-thinking and easily manipulative people there are in the United States of America.

I’m exhausted witnessing how the American education system has deteriorated to the point that Americans are ready to embrace mediocrity, ignorance and prejudice. We have produced a nation of automatons and clones who are incapable of thinking and cannot make decisions that are in their own best interests.

I’m exhausted knowing that President Obama inherited the biggest and most chaotic and devastating situation ever to occur in American history.

Today, September 23, 2010, the Republicans came out with their manifesto which in essence will paralyze America. To return to the policies that put our country in the greatest financial crisis since the original Depression of 1929 is criminal. They openly admit that they will dismantle all the progressive programs advanced and passed by the Obama Administration.

Now if you want to see exhaustion, wait and do nothing and let the Republicans replay their scenario of man’s inhumanity to man, catering to the rich and powerful, decimating the middle class and totally dissolving the lower class until they become the underbelly of society.

Should the Democrats be negligent enough because of lack of fervor to allowa Republican takeover, then I want to hear that same lady who so eloquently dressed the President down for the millions of people all over the world to see and hear; I want her to speak out. Speak out if she has a voice left after bemoaning our country going to hell in a hand basket as they take us back to the conflagration that put us in the condition we are in now. Dante’s Inferno could be no worse.

You think you’ve got it bad now? Why? Is it because you are ungrateful for all this Administration has produced despite the obstreperousness of the right wingers? It will be worse than during the Bush Administration because we have not learned from history or psychology. Doing the same failed things over and over gets the same failed results.

It is time for Democrats to stop moaning and groaning and to knock on every door, open the white pages and call everyone in the telephone directory to save our country. We have a good team and it is getting better. We have made enormous strides and progress in less than two years.

The jobs are coming and they will be created here in America to make products by Americans and for Americans so that we can all get above the flood waters that we have been drowning in because of the Bush years – eight to be exact. Painstakingly these were eight years of mismanagement, pandering to the rich and the elite, shipping our jobs overseas depriving American workers of the ability to sustain themselves, and running up overwhelming debt while borrowing money to fund two wars.

We have destroyed lives and properties in two countries, simultaneously; and, now we are rebuilding what we have torn down. Our own infrastructure is outdated and seriously in need of repair or replacement. Let’s bring our money home to take care of home.

We had an ill conceived education program which did nothing except further dumb down America’s children and turn them into drones for passing tests. It did not matter that they were not learning or gaining knowledge or being prepared as lifetime learners, as long as they could pass these arbitrary tests, they were passed along.

Is this what we want for our children, America? Is this what we want for ourselves? Haven’t we suffered enough, America? If you say yes, then do something about it. If you don’t have genuine enthusiasm, fake it until you make it. Don’t allow our country to become paralyzed again with ill prepared, ill informed tea partiers replacing knowledgeable, forward thinking Democrats.

Let’s go forward! Let’s defeat the prognosticators! Let’s take our country back to the Clinton years, to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt years, to the good old days when a man and a woman who were willing to work were able to find a good paying job and then be able to circulate money within our country to stimulate our economy so we can again know the prosperity that wiser, humane Administrations created for us.

This is our Democracy, let’s practice what is necessary to sustain a thriving Democracy by voting for the Democratic lawmen who really and truly practice, COUNTRY FIRST. It is time to EXHAUST all your energies and your resources to keep the bums out! We don’t need witchcraft or voodoo economics, we don’t need to be paralyzed.

We need a functioning, thriving Democracy where all of her citizens are given an equal opportunity to pursue life, liberty and happiness. This is what we owe ourselves. This is what we owe our children and their children and their children’s children. This is America. We are Americans.

Let’s start acting like Americans who have always heeded the call to treat the least of these as we would want to be treated ourselves. We are our brothers and sisters keepers. This is our manifest destiny! hb

Readers: Kudos to Dr Burleson! I may not know how to be that inspiring myself, but I sure as hell know how to find the people who are. So if that doesn’t make one think,…if that doesn’t inspire people…if that doesn’t motivate people to get off of their lazy asses, I don’t know if anything will, and we may have to kiss our lazy asses goodbye because our country will go to hell in a hand basket, if we don’t lend a hand and “do something”.

That’s all I’ve got today. I think it’s enough. Well…maybe not. There is always LOVE…and HOPE that the people will do the right thing.

Well I’m delighted that there was quite a response to my write yesterday because as I reread it last night I thought, “Michelle, you were all over the place.” I’m quite sure I didn’t articulate myself quite like I had imagined and thought I did, but it seems that those that could write in got my drift. So I am pleased. Speaking of…

Steve: Thanks for the kudos. In light of the above paragraph, stating that my write was the best commentary you have read on my blog in 2 years, threw me. Although I am not sure what I said that hasn’t been said on my blog before, and most likely better said by others and not by moi, whatever words written that opened your eyes this time, I’m glad they were opened.  Perhaps Kelly is reading and will give you a second chance.

Ahou: I agree with you 100% that women shouldn’t support the men in Iran when they treat their women as second class, less than animals, and keep them as sexual slaves.

When Madaline, was in Iran she made a deal with some of the men that she would help them. The caveat was only if they would help fight for the women to give them equal rights. If not, she would not assist them. Why would she? Helping the men, when they had no interest in helping change the lives of the women was pointless. And why would any woman fight to help the men, if the men were not going to fight for her rights, and she would retain the same level of life that she had lived before. Women in Iran do not have lives they desire, they exist to please the men…to be sexual slaves. And that is not right.

You stated that the men in the Middle East feel that white men have made their lives “uncomfortable”. Interesting perspective – not your viewpoint but the fact that men would feel that way. I think white men have made their lives easier – easier to abuse their women and treat them like animals.

Let me explain. When I ranted about white men yesterday, I was not implying that white men are the sole reason for all of the atrocities in the world, but they are certainly a strong influence.  That being said, Middles East men are not saints – far from it. But if white men refused to do business in the Middle East, refused to purchase oil from the Middle East unless the men treated women as equals, gave them equal status and rights, they could be a positive influence. Instead they show that they condone the treatment of women in the Middle East by doing business with the men in the Middle East. Our purchase of oil supports the plight of women – it’s as simple as that. So your men feel “uncomfortable” – Oh Boo hoo. I have no sympathy for them.

If white men (not all) could treat women as Middle Eastern men do,  I believe they would.

Mary: Well said. We have no idea what is it like to live in the skin of an otw, what goes through their body and their mind on a daily basis. It takes a huge amount of compassion to even begin to understand, and the care to even want to. Sadly, not enough people care to.

Amita: In light of my above comment to Ahou, I too hope Obama gets America to head towards an oil free dependence.

Jerry: Happy that you are another white man who sees it that way too.

Aetos: Interesting observation. “Sore Loser”. You pegged that one. The little dick is just a tad pissy that the big dick is in control. And the little dick is doing anything he can to put the big dick down. Sounds so infantile but some men just can’t get out of that stage of life.

Helen: Again well said. To admit it would mean they would have to change.

Reese: Oh how I would love it if white men went on strike. Please. Yes I would be down on my knees but not asking you to come back. No, I would be down on my knees giving thanks to the Gods for showing me the difference between the good ones and the bad ones – bring it on. I’ll line up the girlz for target practice.

Hey Ruth: I hope that you had a nice trip back here. Thanks for the post. Unbelievable. It is okay for men to get the high hard one when they want and need it, but oh no…don’t tell women how they can improve their sex lives. I can hear the men thinking: “We want our women to have sex with us but we don’t want them feeling too good, too horny – They may think I’m not enough and get some on the side ( like I do).”

I’ll reiterate Ruth’s words as they are worth repeating so close to the midterms: “Get out there and vote someone else into a political office besides a white male.”

Zen Lill: Aha! Clark is loving you.

Readers: Robert Posted a video the other day of Bill Maher, and in that video Maher mentioned how we’ve sort of made the BP oil slick disappear – like,  where did all of the oil go? We don’t hear much about it anymore, not to mention the affects of the oil. It has been brushed under the rug. Well this is what I found under the rug: Here’s a river of floating dead fish. This is horrible.

Plaquemines Parish officials have asked state wildlife officials to investigate what they said is a massive fish kill at Bayou Chaland on the west side of the Mississippi River late Friday.

Photographs the parish distributed of the area shows an enormous amount of dead fish floating atop the water.

The fish kill was reported to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries and the cause has not yet been determined, the parish said. The fish were found in an area that has been impacted by the oil from the BP oil spill, the parish said.

The dead fish include pogies, redfish, drum, crabs, shrimp and freshwater eel, the parish said.

Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser said he has asked Wildlife & Fisheries for a quick determination of the cause. The parish has also requested testing by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

“We can’t continue to see these fish kills,” Nungesser said in a news release. “We need some additional tests to find out why these fish are dying in large numbers. If it is low oxygen, we need to identify the cause.”

A recent fish kill in nearby St. Bernard Parish was attributed to low oxygen levels in the water.

Okay so it hasn’t been “determined” how these fish have died, but it is pretty clear to me it is because of the BP spill.

I don’t know much about this man Jack Rudloe except for what I have just read. But all I can say  is I can’t help but love a man who’s saving the lives of the little creatures on Earth. Rudloe is our modern day Noah.

Rudloe who lives in Florida, is starting “Operation Noah’s Ark”, a four-acre facility an hour south of Tallahassee to preserve more than 350 different specimens. Although the BP oil rig has been capped, Rudloe doesn’t believe the oil is gone. I don’t either. So I applaud him for his efforts, and I HOPE that he gets the funding needed to save these precious little beings, and preserve the many species that we could possibly loose because of BP’s fatal “accident”.

‘Operation Noah’s Ark’ Tries To Rescue Gulf Sealife

PANACEA, Fla. – On the chance that the Gulf of Mexico oil spill threatens some sea creatures with extinction, naturalist Jack Rudloe hopes his laboratory can save them.

Rudloe has launched Operation Noah’s Ark, using his four-acre facility an hour south of Tallahassee to preserve more than 350 different specimens – everything from sharks to starfish, shrimp and batfish – in an environment that includes a grassland and duplicates high and low tides. And he’s not doing it two-by-two. The fiddler crabs, for instance, number around 50,000.

“We have this endless supply of critters and water out there,” said Rudloe, 67, whose enchantment with the Gulf and its inhabitants date back some 40 years. “We have to get as many animals in there as we can and then if the conditions permit, be able to put some of them back and get some things started.”

Though the broken oil rig has been capped since mid-July and little heavy crude is visible on the Gulf, Rudloe said he’s still committed to the project.

“I don’t believe that the oil is gone,” Rudloe said. “It’s still out there in cold water, little tiny droplets that could come spilling up here in the wrong conditions of one or two hurricanes.”

Rudloe’s Dickerson Bay laboratory is about 20 miles from the easternmost point where oil has been reported on Florida’s Panhandle. Still, he worries about oil fouling his 50 tanks, which use saltwater pulled through an 800-foot pipeline from the Gulf. He is installing filtration systems just in case.

“If everything is dead, the marshes are black, the water is foul … we still want to keep the place going,” Rudloe said. “We would have to have live support systems where we can keep things alive.”

Rudloe estimates the project could cost $1.2 million. He can’t afford that kind of financial hit, coming at a time his wife – noted marine biologist Anne Rudloe – is battling a serious illness. The nonprofit, licensed facility, which attracts about 18,000 visitors annually, depends on admission fees, memberships and donations.

“We’re bleeding green,” Jack Rudloe said.Rudloe said he hopes BP PLC will help fund the project; BP said it couldn’t provide information on Rudloe’s claim.

“If anybody should come to anybody, BP should be coming to him and say ‘OK,’” said Robert Seidler, a Sopchoppy, Fla., filmmaker who has observed the Rudloe’s operation for decades. “Nobody has the collective knowledge of the area like the Rudloes do. Every trend, storms, floods, red tides. He knows all of that.”

Rudloe, who provides specimens for university and medical research, is well known nationally among marine biologists.

A New York native who moved to Florida in his early teens, Rudloe, who is self-taught, has joined with his wife to write books on the Gulf ecosystem along with articles for National Geographic, Sports Illustrated and other publications.

Rudloe has gotten some outside help since the spill. Pennsylvania-based Martin Marine shipped a $25,000 water-oil separator that Rudloe said could save the day, sifting out petrochemicals.

“We have a way to fight back. We can clean our water and go on living.”

He will also use roughly 50 large water tanks to store “healthy seawater” to maintain hundreds of other critters, including sea urchins, sea cucumbers, sponges, sea horses and spinybox fish.

The BP spill isn’t his first clash with oil companies.

In 1989, Rudloe cut his Exxon credit card in half and put it inside a plastic sandwich bag filled with oil to protest a spill created when the Exxon Valdez tanker dumped an estimated 32 million gallons of crude oil into pristine Alaskan waters after it grounded on a reef.

But that doesn’t come close to the disaster threatening the Rudloe’s lifetime of work.

“Where are the protections these companies were supposed to build in?” Rudloe asks. “I don’t think anything really has been learned. We’re just as dumb now as we were then.”

The BP disaster has been an upset in my life since the day it happened. I’m sure it has been in yours too. I’ve blogged about it, complained about it, and quite a few times, cried about it. Now…finally the cap is on.

I don’t know why it took so long. Obviously no one came up with the idea of using an agile youngster with nimble fingers who has mastered hand/eye coordination from years of video games, to put that cap on. Or we would’ve had it capped a month ago. Oh well, it’s done. And since the cap is now on tight and secure (?), the least I can do is breath a sigh of relief and HOPE that the worst of it is over.

But now, many more questions arise. Is it safe? Is it seeping?

Since pressure readings on the cap weren’t as high as expected — was a leak elsewhere in the wellbore, meaning the cap may have to be reopened to prevent the environmental disaster from becoming even worse and harder to fix.

And if so,  will the capped reservoir force its way out through another route causing an even worse disaster? If it is leaking below the bedrock, how will we ever stop a leak that we can’t even see, let alone get to? Lastly…Just when will this relief well be in place? They say within a month. Let’s HOPE so.

Not to be negative, but these questions are valid and real. And those in power and in the know have differing views when it comes to answering these questions, and taking action. Here’s an article from the Huff Po:

NEW ORLEANS (Associated Press) – BP and the Obama administration offered significantly differing views Sunday on whether the capped Gulf of Mexico oil well will have to be reopened, a contradiction that may be an effort by the oil giant to avoid blame if crude starts spewing again.

Pilloried for nearly three months as it tried repeatedly to stop the leak, BP PLC capped the nearly mile-deep well Thursday and wants to keep it that way. The government’s plan, however, is to eventually pipe oil to the surface, which would ease pressure on the fragile well but would require up to three more days of oil spilling into the Gulf.

“No one associated with this whole activity … wants to see any more oil flow into the Gulf of Mexico,” Doug Suttles, BP’s chief operating officer, said Sunday. “Right now we don’t have a target to return the well to flow.”

An administration official familiar with the spill oversight, however, told The Associated Press that a seep and possible methane were found near the busted oil well. The official spoke on condition of anonymity Sunday because an announcement about the next steps had not been made yet.
The concern all along — since pressure readings on the cap weren’t as high as expected — was a leak elsewhere in the wellbore, meaning the cap may have to be reopened to prevent the environmental disaster from becoming even worse and harder to fix.

The official, who would not clarify what is seeping near the well, also said BP is not complying with the government’s demand for more monitoring.

Retired Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the Obama administration’s spill response chief, demanded BP provide results of further testing of the seabed by 9 p.m. EDT Sunday night.

“When seeps are detected, you are directed to marshal resources, quickly investigate, and report findings to the government in no more than four hours. I direct you to provide me a written procedure for opening the choke valve as quickly as possible without damaging the well should hydrocarbon seepage near the well head be confirmed,” Allen said in a letter to BP Managing Director Bob Dudley.

When asked about the situation earlier Sunday before the letter was released, BP spokesman Mark Salt would only say that “we continue to work very closely with all government scientists on this.”

Allen insisted Sunday that “nothing has changed” since Saturday, when he said oil would eventually be piped to surface ships. The government is overseeing BP’s work to stop the leak, which ultimately is to be plugged using a relief well.

Allen decided to extend testing of the cap that had been scheduled to end Sunday, the official who spoke on condition of anonymity said. That means the oil will stay in the well for now as scientists continue run tests and monitor pressure readings. The official didn’t say how long that would take.

Officials at the Department of Homeland Security referred questions to a statement issued by Allen; neither he nor BP officials could explain the apparent contradiction in plans.

Suttles’ comments carved out an important piece of turf for BP: If Allen sticks with the containment plan and oil again pours forth into the Gulf, even briefly, it will be the government’s doing, not BP’s.

The company very much wants to avoid a repeat of the live underwater video that showed millions of gallons of oil spewing from the blown well for weeks.

“I can see why they’re pushing for keeping the cap on and shut in until the relief well is in place,” said Daniel Keeney, president of a Dallas-based public relations firm.

The government wants to eliminate any chance of making matters worse, while BP is loath to lose the momentum it gained the moment it finally halted the leak, Keeney said.
“They want to project being on the same team, but they have different end results that benefit each,” he said.

Oil would have to be released under Allen’s plan, which would ease concerns that the capped reservoir might force its way out through another route. Those concerns stem from pressure readings in the cap that have been lower than expected.

Scientists still aren’t sure whether the pressure readings mean a leak elsewhere in the well bore, possibly deep down in bedrock, which could make the seabed unstable. Oil would be have to be released into the water to relieve pressure and allow crews to hook up the ships, BP and Allen have said.

So far, there have been no signs of a leak. ”We’re not seeing any problems at this point with the shut-in,” Suttles said at a Sunday morning briefing.

Allen said later Sunday that scientists and engineers would continue to evaluate and monitor the cap through acoustic, sonar and seismic readings.

They’re looking to determine whether low pressure readings mean that more oil than expected poured into the Gulf of Mexico since the BP-leased Deepwater Horizon rig exploded April 20, killing 11 people and touching off one of America’s worst environment crises.

“While we are pleased that no oil is currently being released into the Gulf of Mexico and want to take all appropriate action to keep it that way, it is important that all decisions are driven by the science,” Allen said in a news release.

“Ultimately, we must ensure no irreversible damage is done which could cause uncontrolled leakage from numerous points on the sea floor.”

Both Allen and BP have said they don’t know how long the trial run will continue. It was set to end Sunday afternoon, but the deadline — an extension from the original Saturday cutoff — came and went with no word on what’s next.

After little activity Sunday, robots near the well cap came to life around the time of the cutoff. It wasn’t clear what they were doing, but bubbles started swirling around as their robotic arms poked at the mechanical cap.

To plug the busted well, BP is drilling two relief wells, one of them as a backup. The company said work on the first one was far enough along that officials expect to reach the broken well’s casing, or pipes, deep underground by late this month. The subsequent job of jamming the well with mud and cement could take days or a few weeks.

It will take months, or possibly years for the Gulf to recover, though cleanup efforts continued and improvements in the water could be seen in the days since the oil stopped flowing. Somewhere between 94 million and 184 million gallons have spilled into the Gulf, according to government estimates.

The spill has prevented many commercial fishermen from their jobs, though some are at work with the cleanup. Some boat captains were surprised and angry to learn that the money they make from cleanup work will be deducted from the funds they would otherwise receive from a $20 billion compensation fund set up by BP.

The fund’s administrator, Kenneth Feinberg, told The Associated Press on Sunday that if BP pays fishermen wages to help skim oil and perform other cleanup work, those wages will be subtracted from the amount they get from the fund.

Longtime charter boat captain Mike Salley said he didn’t realize BP planned to deduct those earnings, and he doubted many other captains knew, either.

“I’ll keep running my boat,” he said Sunday on a dock in Orange Beach, Ala., before heading back into the Gulf to resupply other boats with boom to corral the oil. “What else can I do?”
