I have spent the better part of the morning catching up on the goings on with the health care bill. And after watching many news videos, I have to say that I have little faith left, that this bill as it stand now, if it passes, will be good for the American people. At this point I am questioning it…and I really don’t know. And I don’t like the fact that I am unsure.
We have fought so hard these past months to pass a bill that would benefit all. I truly thought that we had a strong voice and that the system would work…that if we shouted hard enough by writing letters and signing petitions, by doing our part, that we would be heard, and we could make a difference.
I know that I am usually a positive person, with visions of the glass being half full, but I have to be honest and say that today, I am doubting the system. Today, I have nothing inspiring to say. Today, I am confused, upset, and disenchanted about the entire thing and the entire process.
Those that oppose and wish to ‘Kill the bill’ at every and all cost, today, is a kill to my will.
Of all the videos that I watched this morning in regards to the health care bill, I decided to post Keith Olbermann’s Special Comment from last night.
Readers: Where are you with all of this? I miss the hearing from you. I wish that I could open the flood gates. Although I know I am not alone here…although I know you are reading, not being able to hear from you is weighing heavy on me today. We have been through so much together on this blog. I value your input, your insight, your inspiration. I just want you to know your presence here is missed.
However, where ever you are, we are still connected. Stay strong and keep the faith, and I will do the same. Today is still ahead of us. Keep the collective intention going. Ah…I knew I had a tiny bit of inspiration still left inside of me :)
Doug: Thank you for your insight on yesterday’s subject.
Zen Lill: Nice to hear from you too – happy that you made some time to grace us with your presence.
Peace out…

The talks in Copenhagen continue on this week, and throughout the talks the country of Tuvalu, a small island and the poster child for many other developing countries, has been the hot topic.
Ian Fry, the lead negotiator for the small island nation of Tuvalu — one of a handful of countries severely threatened by climate change — called for the strongest of possible agreements: a legally-binding treaty that would demand developed countries help bring atmospheric CO2 down to 350 ppm. It’s a bold demand that the US and other developed countries will not accept, and which developing countries, bent on a renewal of Kyoto, also reject. Today he delivered a speech that, according to Jamie at 350.org, “had delegates from around the world in tears.”
Though the EU just announced it would pledge $3.6 billion a year until 2012 to a short-term fund for poor countries, a draft agreement sent around Friday to the 192-nation conference set no firm figures on financing or on cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
The provisional text calls for emissions reductions by a wide range — 50 percent to 95 percent by 2050 — and asks rich countries to cut emissions by 25 to 40 percent by 2020, both against 1990 levels.
Todd Stern, the special U.S. climate envoy who earlier this week balked at developing countries’ demands for what he referred to as “reparations,” called the text “constructive” but said the section on helping developing nations lower their growth of CO2 was “unbalanced.” Because the requirements on industrial countries were tougher than on developing nations, he said the section was not “a basis for negotiation.”
The next few days will tell whether negotiations can yield something more than tears and tough talk.
Readers: I blogged about the importance of our CO2 emissions dropping down to 350 ppm awhile ago.
“Climate change is not a crisis of developing countries’ making, yet the impacts of global warming will disproportionately hit the world’s poorest people.”
The question is, will we as a country, will we as one world, do our part to save all world citizens? The planet will survive, no doubt, but will we? Blog me your thoughts.

I woke up this morning to two e-mails, about two women, that made me smile.
One, informing me that today is Human Rights Day. On the one hand, I’m delighted that there is a day that recognizes and honors human rights. And on the other hand, I wish for a world where human rights didn’t need a day to be recognized, a world where human rights wasn’t an issue, because we honored the rights of humans, all humans, daily without question.
But unfortunately, in this present day, there are many humans in this world who fight for their rights, and thankfully there are people who stand up for them. One woman is Hillary Clinton.
When then First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton told the world in 1995 that “women’s rights are human rights, and human rights are women’s rights,” she sent a message of hope and aspiration that continues to resonate today, from kitchen tables in American cities to small villages in countries around the globe.
As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton has continued her strong commitment to human rights and women’s rights. In the last year, she has appointed the first ever Ambassador for Global Women’s Issues, chaired the first UN Security Council sessionon violence against women, and offered significant medical help and protection for rape victims in the Congo.
Secretary Clinton has spoken out for religious freedom and diversity in Tazakh, LGBT rights in town halls from Washington, D.C. to Moldova, and increased access to technology for grassroots advocates fighting to be heard inIran. She’s condemned the murder of journalists in Russia, and called on China to release those still imprisoned for their actions during the protests in Tiananmen Square two decades ago.
To read more about Hillary’s work around the world click here
Here at NoLimits.org, we’re proud of Hillary’s leadership as Secretary of State: working to rebuild our global alliances and serving as a strong voice for human rights. Our progressive agenda includes supporting these new directions in foreign policy, and also focuses on economic and work-family issues here at home, including the need for health care reform and new initiatives to combat the too-high rate of unemployment. We are advocates for an America engaged and active, domestically and internationally, supporting policies that truly reflect our values.
“I hope you believe, as I do, that foreign policy matters“, Hillary said at our policy conference last month, “[and] that what we’re doing can be explained and understood by the small business owner in Colorado or the homemaker in California…because it is important to our society and it’s important to who we are as a nation, what we stand for in pursuit of our interests and in accordance with our values. I believe that…but we have to make the case to the rest of our country as well.“
Thank you Hillary!
The second e-mail, and the other woman, is Barbara Boxer. I am so impressed with her lately. She nailed it Monday night when she confronted those behind the proposed Nelson Amendment. If anyone’s got a pair, she does.
Monday, during the opening rounds of debate on Sen. Ben Nelson’s (D-Neb.) proposed amendment to prohibit any federal funding of abortion, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) hit “the men who have brought us this” where it hurts.
Boxer likened a measure in the Nelson Amendment that would force women to purchase special abortion riders to a theoretical yet unimaginable measure — requiring men to purchase a special rider for a Viagra prescription.
I love that Barbara hit ‘em were it hurts. How does it feel boys?
But last night she really brought it home for women.
Last night, the Stupak Amendment was defeated in the Senate by a vote of 54-45 — and I know that you will be proud to hear that Senator Barbara Boxer was there on the Senate floor, working to defend women’s health until the last vote was counted.
Once again, Barbara stood up for us. She offered the motion to defeat this amendment and fought to pass it. And she won.
Inserting the anti-choice Stupak Amendment into the Senate’s health care reform bill would have been one of the biggest setbacks for women’s health in decades.
It would have upset a very difficult and delicate compromise that has held firm for decades: Women can use their own private funds for legal reproductive health care procedures, but federal funds cannot be used for abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or to protect the life of the mother.
Fortunately, Barbara Boxer — along with more than 85,000 Boxer supporters — were there to stand up, speak out, and defeat this dangerous measure.
Thank you Barbara! You can bet I’ll be fighting to keep Barbara in office come the 2010 election.
Readers: I hope this write left you smiling too.

So…I am still here….wha’at’s up – where is everyone? Wow. Either everyone is away for the Thanksgiving holiday or I’ve been deserted. What about my readers overseas?
Hmm…So be it. My new mantra: “I except the ‘is’ness of the moment.”
Okay…excepting the ‘is’ness of the moment, I’ll carry on….
Remember when I wrote about the movie ‘The Shift’? Well, it has hit mainstream consciousness via Oprah’s talk radio show on Sirius. And we all know, those fortunate and lucky enough to be able to appear on any show connected with Oprah, means huge kudos. An endorsement from Oprah usually means instant fame and success. Oh, the days when my goal was to be a guest of Oprah, and sadly now she is ending her long successful television show. But I am digressing….here’s the gist about the interview and how you can sign up to hear it for free:
We have some exciting and inspiring news for the film and the movement!!
First, I would love to say that as we begin to embrace the holiday season, THE SHIFT team wants to reach out to each and every one of you to extend a warm, heartfelt thanks for your continued support. THE SHIFT is happening and we embrace the opportunity to help facilitate its SHIFT into the mainstream.
Today, we are so proud and exhilarated to share a milestone in both the film’s development and in the movements acceleration into the mainstream conversation.
In an informative, enlightening and fun interview by Oprah with our shining star, Derrick Ashong, Oprah asked questions about the film and its message, WOW!!! Now we know this is just the beginning of THE SHIFT into the mainstream consciousness and our hearts soar to witness and contribute to its unfolding. We are deeply grateful for this blessing and the support this kind of acknowledgement can bring to the film, its message and the movement.
Our congratulations to Derrick Ashong for his insightful, thought provoking and entertaining interview with Oprah. We look forward to enjoying the many expressions of Derricks unique genius which is driven by his passionate desire to help facilitate THE SHIFT in consciousness. Have you seen any of these signs in your neighborhood?
I don’t know if you’ve seen signs like this in your neighborhood but here in San Francisco, Obama’s stimulus package is working….jobs are being created. You want to know if Obama’s stimulus is doing something. I am happy to say that here, it is.
We can bitch at the bank bailouts and wonder just where all of the money is going besides into the pockets of big boys till when ever…I know because I bitch about it too. But there are some good things happening out there, and they deserve the recognition too.
Back in January Obama had a goal to put together a plan that “not only creates jobs in the short-term but spurs economic growth and competitiveness in the long-term.” That stimulus package, the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act” has come to fruition and is working.
Focusing on providing assistance to low- and middle-income Americans, Obama’s plan from the beginning was to strengthen the nation’s infrastructure by investing in states that are struggling with falling revenues. California currently in a bankrupt state, is one of them. Obama’s goal was to create or preserve at least 3 million jobs over the next two years. Is it working? Is he reaching his goal?
Readers: You tell me. The stimulus plan is working in our beautiful city. How successful it is, how many projects are really being supported by the package, I really don’t know. But I am happy to see that there is some progress…is progress happening in your city? – blog me.

BTK: How goes it? Are you able to post your comments on The Huff successfully now or what? After I post, I’m gonna trip on over there and read a bit. I have commented myself over there. However, I do need to watch it with my spicy language and ribald badinage :) (That’s a nod to you George – Not George the Bigot :) By the way…loved your dig on Dylan.
Hi Ruth: loved your story. :)
Theresa: Your story was horrifying. Just having a baby or not, I’m pretty connected to down there, not just to the obvious physical part, but I know when my girls happy and when she’s falling apart – pun intended. :) Great write – hope it never happens to me or anyone else – good advice: Anything funny happening down there? Feeling ‘flat’ with no hole? – address it immediately, please.
Anon: You’re right; the woman that you saw at the party doesn’t write this stuff – Yeah my husband is my ghost writer- just like your husband thinks for you- he does for me too.
Zen Lill: No offense taken – why would I? I didn’t know half the people at the party. Anon is obviously not a friend of mine; no woman friend of mine would ever make that kind of statement towards me, and any man that knows me wouldn’t say that about me either. The words had no impact on me what-so-ever. I laughed when I read her comment – Hard to be offended or take Anon seriously when the words are so far from the truth.
In regards to twitter: All it means is that if people know your twitter address, they can follow you unless you block them. I have blocked a few spammers – yes there are spammers here at twitter too. Anybody can chose to follow you just by doing a search to find you and see if you have a twitter address. Your followers can check in to see what you’re up to. Whether you make a comment or not they are still followers if they choose to be or until you block them from following. It’s really very simple and much easier than FB, although FB has its place too I am discovering. Tweet me baby.
Alexander: Let me tell ya, Suzy Wong’s got it goin’. I’m sure Bita would look gorgeous in anything but a little Asian spice is always nice…..garters and stockings underneath…outfit complete…Ready to praise, peel off, and take pleasure in :)
Evelyn: Thank you for your comment and for including your article. When I wrote about Major Hasan, my research did not include that vital piece of info, and I misunderstood my source. My apologies to my readers for the misinformation. Big mistake.
And my apologies to Major Hasan for writing that he turned the gun on himself, and calling him a gutless wonder. Now I’ll just call him a mass murderer.
But much more importantly, big kudos and congrats to Sgt. Munley, the true hero who, didn’t give up despite being shot three times herself….saved the day. Love her courage. Women rock.
Ingrid: Thank you for your comment. I know the feeling. I get anxious about the state of the world myself too. We all should be a little anxious or it means we’re not paying attention to the happenings in this world. Anxiety can be good if it is the impetus for change.
Your statement, “So now the world is full of people willing to kill others who do not believe as they do,” is a truth that has been going on for centuries. When were people not killing each other over some religious belief? Now we are blessed with the internet that gets us the information in split seconds from all over the world. No one has the excuse that they aren’t informed when there are so many ways to be informed. All one as to do is get involved.
Obviously you are involved in the world. I love when I hear people, especially younger people, inspired by me, my blog and the things written here. You are the future of this planet – You do have the opportunity to contribute a different attitude to a better world. You just have to do it. Love….right back at you :)
Mike: Good points. I have been trying to rid my blog of ads that I don’t particularly want to advertise, but I can see from your comment and Libby’s that some are worth running, if nothing else but learning what the other side is doing (knowledge is power), i.e. your words: (1)….”get to see what bulls**t he is exporting and (2) he it cost him money to do it.” I enjoyed your comment and your view – keep it coming.
Readers: As always, good to hear your views- blog me – tweet me.
