“Why The Hell Is This Country Flogging Women In The First Place?”

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 28th October 2009

I was waiting for someone to say something about the article that Latifah linked, but no one did. Did anyone read it? Doesn’t anyone have anything to say or do you just accept what is happening because this isn’t happening here? The complacency of this country blows me away.

Not sure what I am referring to? Click here to read the article before you continue reading my write.

Well? Disgusting isn’t it? I mean did you even get it the first time you read it? I had to read it a few times because there was no feeling, no meat to the story. I just didn’t get it. Then it hit me right in my core. I realized they were talking about women in such a matter-of-fact fashion as if they were discussing something not human. Where was the emotion? We’re talking women here. Do you get that the humanity is missing in this article? And the fact that someone could read this, and say nothing, and move on. Just what does that say about humans?

The article should read: “Why the hell is this country flogging women in the first place?” I mean seriously, this article is basically saying that women are nothing more than dogs, and in my opinion, dogs living in the SPCA of Saudi Arabia. And really, that’s being kind. We’ve been told by such women that dogs get better treatment than they do. Women are nothing more than property….a piece of ass to own and use, as their men, their masters, see fit.

And, if their woman don’t obey? Well then they’ll hear it from their master, you can be assured of that. 20 lashes, 30 lashes, 300 lashes! You own that piece of meat; flog it, oh…but don’t flog it to death. There are conditions you know. Conditions! This article states what conditions these women can live…under the rules of their master, of course. It’s not discussing the fact that women can be flogged in the first place. Oh no, that is not the concern. That is never the concern. There is no question why this is happening; their masters, have the right to flog their women.

And just how much flogging is due to them? It is your dog, you own it, but you can’t flog it to death. So what is due to these women? Ask the king – he does the ruling. How many lashes? And what degree of day-to-day suffering should they endure? Hmmm…let’s see….Do we pull them in and shorten their leash? Do we put on a choke collar and yank when necessary? Or do we just ration out food and water and make them so dependent they wouldn’t dare consider straying? We’ll make our women loyal even if we have to practically kill them! Sickening. Am I right or what?

And what are the men in this country saying? Not much. If the men in this country could get women to be property again the men would be delighted. Think I am wrong? Do you see men objecting to this type of treatment to women in these countries? I don’t think so. Men have no problem doing business and making billions off of oil, with countries such as Saudi Arabia. It just goes to show you that men accept this behavior by other men, in order to get oil. You can’t deny that fact. If you do, ask the question, “Why do civilized nations accept this type of behavior from men in their midst, knowing that these men are treating one half of their population bad?” And I’m being kind here. The answer: Money.

You know what else is crazy? We send women over from our country to fight in the Middle East. For what? For the rights of men, not women. Our women are dying for the rights of men, not women. The same thing happened in Vietnam. Otw’s fought for our country, and then came home, not having the same rights as whites. So yes, the comment that Latifah referred to could happen. “…religious flakes could get away with it if they could.”

Why not - Who is objecting to this? No one. Anytime you think that is not true, look at the countries we support! Look at the countries we do business with. Money is more important than the lives of humans. It means more than anything to men. Hence they continue to do business with countries that rape and abuse their women all because they want more money…all for self-aggrandizement.

And when there comes a threat. Isn’t it interesting that when aliens are invading the world, the men come out…’Oh protect us – we need information!” Their lives are at risk. They have something to fear now. But what about the women in this world? Where’s their protection? You know the women that are raped and abused daily? I bet some women aren’t even afraid of the aliens. No, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the women are just hoping that those aliens snatch the bodies of their husbands or probe their tight little asses – how do you like it? “Please aliens, take my husband. All I ask is for freedom.” Freedom. Something, we here take for granted while others can only dream of it.

I read about that gang rape in Richmond that happened last Friday night. Police believe as many as a dozen people watched a 15-year-old girl get beaten and gang-raped by at least 5 boys, outside her high school homecoming dance without reporting it. What is wrong with these boys and what is wrong with their fathers who have not taught them to respect and revere women, not rape them? And the ones watching that did nothing? They are not innocent in this either! Water runs down hill and so does evil. When will this stop?

I am so sick of self-centered men…and you know who you are. Men who are so worried about their own lives, that the moment their little lives are threatened, they need information; they need to be protected. Only now do you scream to others because of what the aliens could possibly do to you. Meanwhile back in the SPCA of Saudi Arabia, ‘How bad should we flog this bitch?”

Men. Oh how they wish women in this country were their property once again. Dream on you little penis wonders – it’s not going to happen here – not on my watch.

I wrote to the women in Iran a while ago telling them that I needed them to be strong. Hell, women in Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, the Congo, the list goes on…they have been strong their whole lives. With so many years of being enslaved, they need love, they need freedom, they need a time where they can just be, with no worries of what they need to endure that day, that moment...

I can tell you, I am two minutes from releasing Madaline from wiping out the men in this world who enslave women, and yes the men too, that do nothing about it. You know who you are…you know who I’m talking to. This world is filled with them; men who are so self-centered and fixated on their own needs, their own self-interests, that they don’t think or won’t think past their own needs to even consider the needs of others, and god forbid the needs of women.

Why do you think Madaline and the aliens act as they do towards humans? Many say that they are arrogant. They aren’t arrogant; they just have huge brains that allows them to see how ludicrous we are. Our actions say we are nothing but animals. No wonder the aliens can’t see us any other way. The most vicious men, the top dog, gets to rule…and he rules by force. Less than 1% own 96% of our country. Do you think that the 1% wouldn’t strike a bargain with the aliens for their own self-aggrandizement? You bet some would.

When I talk to Maddie she tells me that when she views men all she sees is ‘self-interest’. “If whatever men are dealing in doesn’t benefit self, then they’re not interested.” She tells me that in order to free women, we need freedom from foreign oil. When that happens, then we can address women. We have to free men from their dependence on foreign oil, so that they can stand up and be noble to women, as if they really care.” And I stress, “…as if they really care.”

Do you get it? They don’t really care. If they did, they would be doing something NOW. All they care about is themselves and accumulating as much money as possible.

Wouldn’t it be just wonderful if men said, “We don’t want to do business with you until you give equal rights to women?” Yeah right – there’s nothing in it for men to say that. They don’t want to spend the energy to be energy independent; they want to live off the backs of women. Why is it the most vicious men get to rule? They do in all countries, and up until recently, our own country.

Why can’t we do business with Cuba? Cuba gives equal rights to women. Oh but no, they don’t want to do business with them because Cuba is a communist country. But it’s okay to do business with men who beat and rape and yes murder their women! Money is more important than the lives of humans. That just disgusts me to no end.

But thankfully Obama is our president, and he is smart. He knows that we need oil independence. He knows that he needs to play to men’s self-centeredness so that he can help the women. Otherwise, it will continue as it always has: The men will not stand up for the women; they can’t see past their own self-interest. We need to help them to help ourselves. If we are free from foreign oil, free from the men having any money, any interest overseas, we can then help the women. Do you see why Obama is trying to lead us into being energy independent? We need Obama to free us from foreign oil so that we can focus our efforts on freeing the women of our world. I know I am being redundant, but I can’t help it. The info needs to be drilled in.

Ya know, I think of how many times white women have been put down on my blog, how many times white women have been called stupid. And then I think of these Log Cabin Republicans. In case you don’t know who they are, this is a gay group of Republicans – a gay group of Republicans! Isn’t that an oxymoron? I mean c’mon, why are gays part of a party that is trying to make their existence illegal? This just goes to show you how stupid and pathetic white men are. That is like Jews forming a group called “Jews for Hitler”. Stupid and mind-boggling yes? So when we are quick to judge white women, when we are quick to say how stupid white women are, let’s look at the stupid white men. You don’t see lesbians for the Republican Party do you? – No, that would be ludicrous – women know better.

So yeah, I complain about some men, many men. Someone’s got to point it out. This blog exists to say no to shit like this! And when I complain about it, I am called a shrew. Sometimes I can’t help it, and even if I could, I don’t think I’d stop myself. If you think I’ve been shrill before, don’t think I’ll stop now; I’m a woman, hear me roar! And roar I will until we’re treated equally, until the abuses stop. Women are going to keep on screaming. We are going to take what belongs to us by whatever means necessary. That’s what the men do, right? That’s what Madaline means when she says, ‘Woman up.”

Even I need to ‘woman up’. How can I ever rest if women everywhere sleep with unrest? So don’t tell me I’m too shrill when I speak of women, Don’t tell me to grow up, while you defend men who act like children – What if it happened to you? I’ve seen men pathetically grovel when the tables are turned. I’ve seen men beg for their lives when their lives are threatened. But what about the women? They beg for just a day, or just an hour, or maybe just even a moment, for a place where they can feel safe and secure.

Where is the love and compassion for a woman? Some men are so self-involved, it ceases to exist. Men: They will die for free trade, but they won’t die for the right of a woman to be free.

Lastly, if our actions speak louder than our words, and our actions say we are nothing but animals, I ask you, “Where do you fit in, in this picture? What actions will you speak?”

I Want To Do More – What Can I Do Now?

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 22nd October 2009

Good Morning.

Well, have you seen Michael Moore’s movie yet? You know the flick, ’Capitalism: A Love Story’.  I was so jazzed for its release and yet I still haven’t seen the movie yet. I’ve just been so busy that I haven’t have the leisure of going sitting in a theater for a few hours….but I will.  However, not seeing the movie doesn’t mean that I can’t take more action. For those of you who have seen it (or not), for those of you who want to know what’s next, for those of you who want to do more,  here’s what Michael suggests. I have included some of my thoughts in red.

Michael Moore‘s Action Plan: 15 Things Every American Can Do Right Now”

You’ve Seen the Movie — Now It’s Time to ACT!

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Friends,

It’s the #1 question I’m constantly asked after people see my movie: “OK — so NOW what can I DO?!”

You want something to do? Well, you’ve come to the right place! ‘Cause I got 15 things you and I can do right now to fight back and try to fix this very broken system.

Here they are:

FIVE THINGS WE DEMAND THE PRESIDENT AND CONGRESS DO IMMEDIATELY:

1. Declare a moratorium on all home evictions. Not one more family should be thrown out of their home. The banks must adjust their monthly mortgage payments to be in line with what people’s homes are now truly worth — and what they can afford. Also, it must be stated by law: If you lose your job, you cannot be tossed out of your home.

Although California alone has reported unemployment at around 12%, so many people are no longer collecting unemployment, or reporting that they are unemployed. Basically many have given up looking. I have heard the true unemployment is hovering around 20%. I don’t have anything to substantiate that but knowing how many of my friends are not working, that percentage wouldn’t surprise me. Rhonda: You commented that quite a few of your friends have been laid off. Thanks for posting your article. It is a sensitive time for many, and the last thing that needs to happen after you lose your job is losing your house. I think a moratorium is a good idea.

2. Congress must join the civilized world and expand Medicare For All Americans. A single, nonprofit source must run auniversal health care system that covers everyone. Medical bills are now the #1 cause of bankruptcies and evictions in this country. Medicare For All will end this misery. The bill to make this happen is called H.R. 3200. You must call AND write your members of Congress and demand its passage, no compromises allowed.

Nothing more for me to say here. I am for the Public Option and Single Payer.

3. Demand publicly-funded elections and a prohibition on elected officials leaving office and becoming lobbyists. Yes, those very members of Congress who solicit and receive millions of dollars from wealthy interests must vote to remove ALL money from our electoral and legislative process. Tell your members of Congress they must support campaign finance bill H.R.1826.

Again, I’m all for this. I’m going to check out this bill H.R. 1826.

4. Each of the 50 states must create a state-owned public bank like they have in North Dakota. Then congress MUST reinstate all the strict pre-Reagan regulations on all commercial banks, investment firms, insurance companies — and all the other industries that have been savaged by deregulation: Airlines, the food industry, pharmaceutical companies — you name it. If a company’s primary motive to exist is to make a profit, then it needs a set of stringent rules to live by — and the first rule is “Do no harm.” The second rule: The question must always be asked — “Is this for the common good?” (Click here for some info about the state-owned Bank of North Dakota.)

I don’t know anything about state-owned banks, but this has peaked my interest.

5. Save this fragile planet and declare that all the energy resources above and beneath the ground are owned collectively by all of us. Just like they do it in Sarah Palin‘s socialist Alaska. We only have a few decades of oil left. The public must be the owners and landlords of the natural resources and energy that exists within our borders or we will descend further into corporate anarchy. And when it comes to burning fossil fuels to transport ourselves, we must cease using the internal combustion engine and instruct our auto/transportation companies to rehire our skilled workforce and build mass transit (clean buses, light rail, subways, bullet trains, etc.) and new cars that don’t contribute to climate change. (For more on this, here’s a proposal I wrote in December.) Demand thatGeneral Motors‘ de facto chairman, Barack Obama, issue a JFK man-on-the-moon-style challenge to turn our country into a nation of trains and buses and subways. For Pete’s sake, people, we were the ones who invented (or perfected) these damn things in the first place!!

Again, this is going to take a little research on my part.

FIVE THINGS WE CAN DO TO MAKE CONGRESS AND THE PRESIDENT LISTEN TO US:

1. Each of us must get into the daily habit of taking 5 minutes to make four brief calls: One to the President (202-456-1414), one to your Congressperson (202-224-3121) and one to each of your two Senators (202-224-3121). To find out who represents you, click here. Take just one minute on each of these calls to let them know how you expect them to vote on a particular issue. Let them know you will have no hesitation voting for a primary opponent — or even a candidate from another party — if they don’t do our bidding. Trust me, they will listen. If you have another five minutes, click here to send them each an email. And if you really want to drop an anvil on them, send them a snail mail letter!

Doing this is a piece of cake. Make, making phone calls a daily habit. Everyone can do this. Maybe start off with a goal of calling once a week for a month, and then go from there. Increase your goal.  Make it something that is doable for you, so that you set yourself up to succeed, not fail. I’ve been calling lately but not enough. I’m going to try it: Once a week for a month. Wanna join me?

2. Take over your local Democratic Party. Remember how much fun you had with all those friends and neighbors working together to get Barack Obama elected? YOU DID THE IMPOSSIBLE. It’s time to re-up! Get everyone back together and go to the monthly meeting of your town or county Democratic Party — and become the majority that runs it! There will not be many in attendance and they will either be happy or in shock that you and the Obama Revolution have entered the room looking like you mean business. President Obama’s agenda will never happen without mass grass roots action — and he won’t feel encouraged to do the right thing if no one has his back, whether it’s to stand with him, or push him in the right direction. When you all become the local Democratic Party, send me a photo of the group and I’ll post it on my website.

I had a great time the other night. If you’re not one to pull people together, then get on Obama’s website and find people who already have a group going and join. It’s really that simple.

3. Recruit someone to run for office who can win in your local elections next year — or, better yet, consider running for office yourself! You don’t have to settle for the incumbent who always expects to win. You can be our next representative! Don’t believe it can happen? Check out these examples of regular citizens who got elected: State Senator Deb SimpsonCalifornia State Assemblyman Isadore HallTempe, Arizona City Councilman Corey WoodsWisconsin State Assemblyman Chris Danou, andWashington State Representative Larry Seaquist. The list goes on and on — and you should be on it!

I’m not one to run for office but maybe one of you are – go for it!

4. Show up. Picket the local branch of a big bank that took the bailout money. Hold vigils and marches. Consider civil disobedience. Those town hall meetings are open to you, too (and there’s more of us than there are of them!). Make some noise, have some fun, get on the local news. Place “Capitalism Did This” signs on empty foreclosed homes, closed down businesses, crumbling schools and infrastructure. (You can download them from my website.)

There’s a hidden activist in all of us: Find the activist in you and let him or her emerge!

5. Start your own media. You. Just you (or you and a couple friends). The mainstream media is owned by corporate America and, with few exceptions, it will never tell the whole truth — so you have to do it! Start a blog! Start a website of real local news (here’s an example: The Michigan Messenger). Tweet your friends and use Facebook to let them know what they need to do politically. The daily papers are dying. If you don’t fill that void, who will?

Hmm…I think I’m doing this already – how about you?

FIVE THINGS WE SHOULD DO TO PROTECT OURSELVES AND OUR LOVED ONES UNTIL WE GET THROUGH THIS MESS:

1. Take your money out of your bank if it took bailout money and place it in a locally-owned bank or, preferably, a credit union.

2. Get rid of all your credit cards but one — the kind where you have to pay up at the end of the month or you lose your card.

3. Do not invest in the stock market. If you have any extra cash, put it away in a savings account or, if you can, pay down on your mortgage so you can own your home as soon as possible. You can also buy very safe government savings bonds or T-bills. Or just buy your mother some flowers.

4. Unionize your workplace so that you and your coworkers have a say in how your business is run. Here’s how to do it (more info here). Nothing is more American than democracy, and democracy shouldn’t be checked at the door when you enter your workplace. Another way to Americanize your workplace is to turn your business into a worker-owned cooperative. You are not a wage slave. You are a free person, and you giving up eight hours of your life every day to someone else is to be properly compensated and respected.

5. Take care of yourself and your family. Sorry to go all Oprah on you, but she’s right: Find a place of peace in your life and make the choice to be around people who are not full of negativity and cynicism. Look for those who nurture and love. Turn off the TV and the Blackberry and go for a 30-minute walk every day. Eat fruits and vegetables and cut down on anything that has sugar, high fructose corn syrup, white flour or too much sodium (salt) in it (and, as Michael Pollan says, “Eat (real) food, not too much, mostly plants”). Get seven hours of sleep each night and take the time to read a book a month. I know this sounds like I’ve turned into your grandma, but, dammit, take a good hard look at Granny — she’s fit, she’s rested and she knows the names of both of her U.S. Senators without having to Google them. We might do well to listen to her. If we don’t put our own “oxygen mask” on first (as they say on the airplane), we will be of no use to the rest of the nation in enacting any of this action plan!

I’m working on quite a few of the above already. And you?

I’m sure there are many other ideas you can come up with on how we can build this movement. Get creative. Think outside the politics-as-usual box. BE SUBVERSIVE! Think of that local action no one else has tried. Behave as if your life depended on it. Be bold! Try doing something with reckless abandon. It may just liberate you and your community and your nation.

And when you act, send me your stories, your photos and your video — and be sure to post your ideas in the comments beneath this letter on my site so they can be shared with millions.

C’mon people — we can do this! I expect nothing less of all of you, my true and trusted fellow travelers!

Yours,
Michael Moore

Tk: Your son’s delight over his taxes being raised is rare. Obviously he sees the big picture beyond his own personal bank account. I hope that his attitude is contagious amongst his circle of influence and beyond.

Janet: Yep, I’m showing ads. And I love your idea. Thanks for jumping in to support my blog in creating revenue for moi. Readers: How about doing what Janet suggested? – it only takes a click, and I would be greatly appreciative of you and your finger helping me out :) Thank you!

Jonell: Congrats to you too!

Hi David: I have not seen that movie so I can’t comment but I do appreciate your feedback about my blog. I never thought that my blog was divided between whites and otw’s, or that people felt that they needed to take sides. I never meant for any sides to be taken, and I certainly don’t take sides. Not all whites are bad and not all otw’s are good. I just want equality for all, including women. I don’t care what color is racist, I just want racism to die, to cease to exist.

As far as your life story, thanks for opening up on my blog and sharing. What I like about this blog is that has turned into a venue where people feel they can open up. I’m happy that you feel the same. Hearing people’s stories, helps people relate to one another, it helps people to realize that we’re really not that different from each other. Enjoy being back home with your mother. I bet she is delighted to have you there.

In regards to your brother, I too have a brother and I can’t tell you how much I love and respect him. He is a bright solid light in my life. I am just as close to him as when we were were kids. And I would be miserable if something came in between us. I encourage you to send your brother to my blog – show him your entry. If he is a decent man, which I am sure he is,  he will come around. Don’t let this thing come between you any longer. Life is too short.

Readers: Sorry my peeps, I needed to sleep in late this morning, hence the late post. I still have a few things I want to say in response to the comments but I will catch you tomorrow. Have a beautiful day!

PS: 10:49 am:  Readers:  I needed to come back and clarify something. In my rush this morning, I was not very thorough in my comment to Janet. Let me be clear that I do not want you clicking the ads just to give me revenue. That was not my point. If you see an ad that you are interested in, then I would appreciate you taking the time to let your fingers do the walking and click on it. That’s it – hope that I am clear now. Thanks!

Gratefully your blog host,

michelle

Congratulations – We Surpassed Our Goal!

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 21st October 2009

Hello….

So…did you catch a ‘call party’ last night and encourage your community to make phone calls in support of our president’s push for Health Care Reform? We certainly did. We even took it a step further and encouraged people to support the public option. I can’t tell you how great it was to be back at it again. I love the synergy and the camaraderie that takes place when people come together in support of each other and a common goal. If you joined a party last night, I want to thank you for doing your part.

This morning the Huffington Post reported that 315,000 phone calls were made – so we beat our goal of 100,000! Congratulations to all of you that participated! If you didn’t participate, it is not too late. You personally can still call Congress and give your support and tell all of your friends too also.  Just because we surpassed our goal does not mean that it is over. Far from it. The lines are still ringing off the hook and don’t be surprised if they continue to be busy. But don’t give up. Be persistent until you get through.

FYI: Did you notice how many of the google ads running on my blog that are not in support of Obama’s health care plan? Now compare it to the ads that are run that are in support of Obama’s health care plan. It’s obvious Big Pharma, and those who oppose are committed to getting their message out. And by the way, on a side note, I continue to filter out the ads as quickly as I can when I see them come up. Just this morning I removed two.

And as you can see, the ads opposing Obama’s plan continue to come up more frequently than ads that are in support of his plan. This tells us a lot.  We need to work harder to get this passed. This is a critical time for our country and not the time to sit on the sidelines and do nothing. As I said the other day, let’s be smart….let’s be the ones who make it happen, not the stupid ones, the ones who wondered ‘what happened’.

**********

ITS: My sentiments exactly. Just how would this world look if most of us were sick with disease and dying? Good health is not just good for the individual healthy person, but the world too. When will people get off of themselves and their own needs and care about each other? Which brings me to….

Anonz: Happy to hear you are alive and well. I hear exactly what you are saying. You couldn’t make yourself more clear or speak more spot on. From what I know, I trust that you have good intentions, and are doing good things with your money. In a world like this, why not have it all?

Oh, if only everyone would heed your words, and stand up for something other than their own aggrandizement. This country, this world, could do great things for each other and the planet. I can tell you one thing, I may not have all of the money, but I do hate the game, and I’ll do everything in my power to change it.

Hey Evelyn: How are you? Thanks for the mention of the book. I had heard of it too, but lately picking up a book is a rare thing in my life. Hopefully, I will not need to suggest it as a good read for anyone.

Anonymous #4: Haha! Obviously you are not a texter? Happy to hear you feel you get some good info here. Stick around; there’s always something good going here :)

Hi Helena: Good to hear from you. I was wondering when you would chime in again. Thanks for the info about the masks. We have stocked up at our house for that same reason. One does not want to be stuck in the middle of a pandemic and searching for protection.

Zen Lill: Thanks for the ginger drink recipe.  When I felt like I was coming down with something, I would stop by Whole Foods to get this intense hot ginger drink that they made. It is fabulous and your recipe sounds like their concoction. I’ll give it a try.

Peacin’ out….

Today Is The Day To Make Phone Calls

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 20th October 2009

Hello….

I mentioned several ways yesterday on how we can get involved in helping Health Care Reform get passed. This below e-mail was sent to me yesterday.  TODAY is the day to make phone calls. TODAY is the day to hook up with friends and neighbors by joining a call party in your neighborhood. I have done these before and they are so much fun. The energy is great when everyone is working toward a common goal. Check out the e-mail below and find a call party that you can join.

Friend –

With health insurance reform finally ready for consideration before the full Congress, we’ve set a big goal for this Tuesday: 100,000 calls to Congress made or committed to in a single day. We’ll make our voices heard above the din created by the insurance industry’s campaign of misinformation and fear and make sure our representatives know it’s finally time to deliver on health reform.

But here’s the thing — if we’re going to get there, we need your help to reach out to friendly folks who still need to speak up in support of reform.

We’re holding “Time to Deliver” call parties and neighborhood outreach events across the country. We’ll get together in living rooms and community centers, and reach out to supportive voters whose voices are particularly critical in this debate. We’ll talk to them about the President’s plan, and then we’ll ask them to call on their representatives to support reform and thank those already doing so.

And the President will be joining all of the events that evening via an exclusive webcast – please find an event near you and RSVP today.

You don’t need to have any experience to attend a Time to Deliver event. The host will have everything set up for you, so it will just be a great evening of reaching out to voters with your friends and neighbors and making a tremendous difference.

We’ve set a big goal, but if we hit it, two things will happen: we’ll have set a new record for contacting Congress in a single day, and the phones in our representatives’ offices will be ringing off the hook the whole day, meaning our voices cannot be ignored.

With more than 1,000 events happening on Tuesday, we’ve got everything set to reach our goal — but we need you to make it happen.

Please RSVP for an event by you:

Be a part of  the 100,000 callers TODAY – We’ll be making phone calls too – Thank you!

Bahameen, Ezzail, Aghigh: Thank you for writing in. I so wish the men would’ve honored their word, but it does not surprise me that they chose not to. Madaline is not the kind of woman who takes lightly to those that don’t stand by their agreements. Those kind of men need to learn that there will be consequences when promises are made and not honored. She has her orders to be discreet, so no, she will not be killing all of the men. I’m sure they will do a fine job killing each other. Let’s hope the Sunnis will honor their agreement should they acquire the position to do so. Be safe.

Fred: I like the Ed show too :)

Kyle: Yeah, it’s hard not to become a fan. Happy you’ve joined the club. Keep tuning in. And thank you for introducing your wife to my blog.

Alberto: Amen.  Thanks for posting your thoughts and for changing your mind. One more man has seen the light :)

Readers: I didn’t post the remaining of Keith Olbermann’s Special Comment. Unfortunately MSNBC doesn’t allow embedding their videos, and I just couldn’t find the final YouTube videos without showing you some repeated parts.  If you are interested in seeing the rest, you can view several sections or watch the entire 1-hour, which is only 42 minutes, by clicking here. This will take you to MSNBC’s website. It is worth it.

What did you think about what Adam posted? It bothers me – does it you? Nothing is set in stone – I believe if we do the things TODAY that we need to do, we have the power to create the future we desire. Don’t you?

Here’s something for inspiration – I’ll end today with a quote that a friend sent me the other day (You know who you are:):

“The future depends on what we do in the present.”

Keith Olbermann, Special Comment On Health Care: Part 3

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 19th October 2009

“People are in fear, not of disease, but deductibles.”

This just keeps getting better and better. Or should I say it keeps getting scarier and scarier. Keith, you are so real.  You are on a role – keep it going.

I don’t even know what more to say. Olbermann continues to say it all.

Readers: It was quiet in blogsville over the weekend until I woke up this morning. I have a feeling you have been trying to comment. My instinct is telling me it has been challenging to get in so I appreciate the dedication to continue to do so.

This is a serious and sensitive subject….life and death. Even if I’m not hearing from you, please continue to take action, please continue to do what you can by supporting health care reform. Don’t give up. I certainly won’t. Thank you.

Lonnie: My pleasure. I have been a big fan of Keith since the election season too. Happy to hear your friends have discovered Keith too. Keep it circulating. Thanks.

Eunice: Thank you. But I am just the channel for Olbermann to be heard again. Splitting up his hour show gives me the opportunity to keep it in everyone’s faces for at least a few days and probably more. It needs to be in our faces daily.

Zy: Wz gave us one way to be heard. Call your senators and representatives. You have easy access to their contact info by visiting the left hand column of my blog. Send e-mails, write letters, Canvass. Get creative, throw a neighborhood potluck block party. Our peeps are representing us. Get involved. They need to hear from all of us, and they are supposed to support what the people want not what the insurance companies want. But all of our voices need to be speaking out loudly to ensure that they hear us and do what we want.

I’m no expert at this so I am reaching out to all of my readers: What can you add to help answer Zy’s request? All I know is we need to keep pushing and we can’t give up.

Thanks John: I hear ya. Our premiums went up 30% in the last 2 months. I would bet too that that money is not deducted from the CEO’s bonuses. Between lobbying cost against the bill and advertising costs for all of these meds, it’s you and I, and everyone else paying, in the form of high premiums and the ridiculously high cost of meds.

Larry: Happy you liked it. I thought Rachel was spot on. Unfortunately you learned you can’t post a video. It would be cool it you could. But thanks for posting the transcript. I read just the beginning but I will read the rest later on. Work calls.

Adam: Any news to report?

Be well my loyal readers.
