Hey….it’s been awhile since I have personally addressed anyone, and I miss it.

George: I feel the need to address you first to get it out of the way and end my write on a positive note. I have been educating myself in the likes of whites such as yourself. The history of our country, not to mention the world is revealing to say the least, with no word to describe the evil at its worst. And history speaks volumes.  So much that one can only take so much of it in a single sitting without wanting to throw up. But you would never understand that because you are white…you are part of the problem.

Now I know what Madaline meant a long time ago when she described the white men as a “disease”, cancer that should’ve been killed a long time ago. And only seeks to kill anything that is not like itself, on a mission to produce, prosper and perpetuate. And eventually like cancer it will prey on itself when there is nothing left to prey on. And what happens when that happens? Need I say?

Rebecca: All I can say is you need to get off of FOX news and start watching elsewhere. Anyone who says Obama is an ass is just a racist. Obama has done more for this country than any single president in a very long time; perhaps even since Lincoln. But I doubt you would agree. You are a woman as one reader described, who will be kicking and screaming to her freedom. (Or something to that affect.)

Try being a bit more open minded, instead of listening to your white husband who like so many other whites, including our resident racist George, will do everything in his power to not see a black man succeed at the expense of this country, not to mention this world. Yes, I say this world..because the atrocities that whites commit are not limited to the whites in this country.

Be forewarned…once the whites have preyed on all of the otws, guess who’s next? Need I say? I HOPE you’re bright enough to figure that one out. Hint: The good ‘ole days weren’t exactly the good ‘ole days for women. As Robert says, “I guess you like you ass being whipped”. Bend over baby and get ready.

Robert: I bet your mother is so proud to have a son like you. I wish for you that your angst can be put aside so that you can share these last moments with your mother in peace and love

Josie, Dafne: Thank you both for your comments in regards to Madaline’s question. I was wondering when my readers were going to say something to me. Believe me, it is not a question I have not given thought to. And I’m sure you are wondering what my answer is. It is not an easy question to answer.

On one level, it was a resounding “Yes!” But after the initial moment of excitement, one has to look at all sides, and ask lots of questions. What anomalies might occur? What is best for all in the long term? (Believe me, sometimes I wonder if all should include whites because many whites certainly do not want to include otws when they consider the betterment of their country) The Democrats had their landslide, and how well did they do with it? I’m not saying the Dems aren’t doing a good job…but all sides must be looked at. Things we get too cheaply we esteem too lightly. Ah…but before you get nervous…A landslide is not necessary, as you said Dafne, but a victory is definitely needed. No question.

Readers: That being said, the Republicans are not dumb. But I’m not stupid either, and neither are you. We need to stay strong in be in the majority especially where our State Governors are concerned. In regards to California, why do you think Meg Whitman is spending millions of her own personal money to run her campaign so that she can win Governorship? Control.

Yes, but the key question is, “Control of what?”  The Governor in each state appoints a key person in a very important position. And that position is the secretary of the state’s voting administration. I’m not sure of the exact title, but that person has control of the entire voting process.  So what does that mean? It means they have control over the amount of time that a person has to vote, making it difficult for otws to get to the polls. It means that this person has control of the voting machines – they want to rig them? Simple: They can. They can rig the machines so that anyone who votes for a Democrat it automatically changes to a Republican vote. And no one will ever know. It’s why Gore lost the presidency.

Do you get my drift?  Do you see why the Republicans are coming out strong? Do you see why it is so important that we keep the majority, and the Democrats win this November especially when it comes to Sate Governors? There is no way that Obama will win his second term if the majority of our state Governors are not Democrats. lf the Republicans have control over the voting process they have control over who becomes President. The Republicans will steal the presidential election again…or at least try to. :)

I say, “We need to nip it in the bud now”...this November. Are you with me? Support your Democratic candidates for Governor and ensure that they win.

Perhaps if Anonz were around he could chime in and give us his two on the subject. I’m sure he would have a lot more to say about controlling the vote. Anyone else want to chime in on what they know – give it a go. Ooh…I just realized it’s Friday – Start flapping your lips – Blog me.

Now it’s time for me to go…

Peace out.

I just got through watching Colbert live in Congress. Did you see? I tried to get it up and post Colbert’s Live testimony, but I was too entrenched in watching it to get it together.

Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert is testifying before Congress today about immigration during a hearing called “Protecting America’s Harvest.”

Colbert is appearing with United Farm Workers (UFW) President Arturo S. Rodriguez before the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law. In August, the comedian spent a day working at a corn and vegetable farm in New York state after Rodriguez appeared on his show to discuss UFW’s “Take Our Jobs” campaign.

The effort was intended to debunk the theory that undocumented immigrants are taking jobs away from American citizens and highlight the fact the nation’s food supply is dependent on these farm workers.

Colbert’s testimony has already happened, as I mentioned above, but you can still watch the live hearing:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Colbert took a day off work and worked in the fields as a farm laborer: Check out how he did:

1 In 8

When I was watching the news the other night I saw a commercial that startled me. It was of our president Obama stating that 1 in 8 Americans struggle with hunger. I in 8 – How can that be? We are the richest country with more billionaires than any other country, and 1 in 8 are struggling with hunger.

Feeding America is proud to partner with the Ad Council to raise awareness of domestic hunger. Our “1 in 8″ PSA campaign began in November 2008, and is running on television, radio, in print and online. Based on statistics from the United States Department of Agriculture, we know that one in eight Americans struggles with hunger each year.

Thanks to acclaimed director Tony Kaye who filmed the “1 in 8″commercials and to Tom Waits for allowing us to use his song “Never Let Go.” The PSAs mark the first time Waits has authorized his music to be used by any organization in a commercial.  ”We all need to be reminded,” Waits said, “that the folks who need help getting back on their feet are all members of our family.”

You can help support Feeding America by sharing the campaign with your friends.  Use the Tell-A-Friend tool below, or post the videos and banners to your personal page via YouTube.

You can make a difference just by sharing our “1 in 8″ message!

I am posting one of the PSA videos below. To see the other click:  Watch now.

Congress can help children who don’t have enough to eat

SEPTEMBER 21, 2010

For weeks, we’ve been talking about the importance of a well-funded Child Nutrition Reauthorization that improves year-round access to feeding programs for millions of low-income children. (Read Vicki Escarra’s Huffington Post blog about hunger that children experience when school is out.) Far too many children lack the nutrition they need to be healthy and successful. The risk of hunger is often greatest during gap periods when children are away from school like weekends and summers.

The child nutrition bill passed by the Senate made significant improvements to nutritional quality, but it didn’t go far enough to make sure low-income children are connected with the programs. Unfortunately, the bill was also paid for with future benefit cuts to SNAP participants, half of whom are children.

With less than two weeks before the bill expires, House leaders are working hard to find funding – both to increase program access and replace the SNAP cut. But the House is facing increasing pressure from the White House and the Senate to simply pass the Senate bill.

House leaders are running out of time to move their own bill and face increasing pressure to simply take up the Senate’s version. Decisions are being made this week! We have a small but critical window of opportunity to make sure the House strengthens the child nutrition bill before it goes to the President.

Call your Representative to ensure Congress makes ending child hunger a priority! Help us send a strong message to Congress by sharing this with your friends and urge them their representatives.

Just follow these instructions and you will be connected directly to your Representative:

  • Fill in your name and address to identify your Congressional District.
  • The next page will provide a toll-free number and PIN that will connect you directly to your Representative’s office.
  • Dial the toll-free number—866-548-0332.
  • When prompted, enter your PIN.
  • When the office answers, state that you are a constituent and provide your name and hometown.
  • Tell them that you are calling about Child Nutrition Reauthorization and that: “The House should pass a better child nutrition bill. Please urge Leadership to support a bill that increases children’s access to programs – especially during weekends, summer, and breakfast – and is paid for without cutting SNAP.”

Representatives need to hear from you TODAY that until the child nutrition bill is good enough for hungry children, it shouldn’t be good enough for Congress.

Readers: How did this happen? How did we let this happen? I know how it happened, but you tell me.  All I can say is,  ”Don’t blame it on Obama.” Depending on which “side you’re on”, I hear, “Obama’s not doing enough”….”Obama’s doing too much”. I can’t imagine what our president goes through on a daily basis just to hold it all together. It is simply amazing to me that he can get anything done and that he has.

I Know I am getting a bit off track here, but we are where we are because of the Bush era, not because Obama is President. I was reading this article on the Huff Po:

The chief financial officer for a veterans service organization, who called herself a “middle-class American,” said she was “exhausted of defending you” and “deeply disappointed with where we are right now.”

Hmm…Okay. Did you get exhausted fighting over the past 8 years to stop the Bush administration? Or did you just go along with everything hoping that you were going to be the next person who could benefit, becoming the next millionaire?

I know people are frustrated and upset with the mess our country is in, but really, we are dealing with people that we the people put in office. Maybe not “you and me” but we allowed it to get this way and now we’re feeling it big time. It’s a mess, and many are expecting miracles from Obama, and they want them now. Yes NOW…”I’m dying over here. I know it took a long time for us to get this way but I want it resolved NOW!”

The days of not getting involved in the welfare of our country are over. There are no free rides. Reread the comment yesterday From The Desk Of DSCC. We need to start caring about each other and not just “me and mine”. The über-rich are only concerned with them keeping theirs. I mean c’mon how can we have 1 in 8 struggling with hunger when there are more billionaires in America than anywhere else?

And the poor…well…they’re still poor, and the numbers are growing.

The middle class – where are they? They expected to be millionaires and billionaires by NOW. When I think of the middle class I can still see the words that Anonz posted here…a not so gentle reminder…

I can now buy any candidate in either House. I can influence any law to my benefit. I can influence you and most americans to believe what I wish about any issue. Your crooked Supreme Court gave me the right to spend any amount of money to influence the passage or any issue.

Criticizing me may make you feel good, but it has no affect on anything I do. Voting to eliminate the people who keep the likes of me from being regulated would be effective in stopping me from profiting at your expense.

But I have no fear of that because you secretly envy the money and power I have. You dream of being one of us, so you allow us to have unfettered access to to the profit trough.

Sure I have more money that I will every be able to spend, but if you are too stupid to regulate me, and too stupid to make me pay my fair share of taxes, and if you continue to allow me to set up corporations with all the rights of a living person, I WILL CONTINUE TO GET RICHER AT YOUR EXPENSE.

And unfortunately, I will continue to brag, boast, be in your face about your STUPIDITY. Deciding whether to rant against me or to vote against me will determine whether you will wise up or remain a mat for me to wipe my feet on as I stroll to that feeding trough.

Tough words, but isn’t he right?

General Info: Love the article.

Doug: Thanks for the additional info on the “meat dress”. I only saw one clip of her wearing it on the Ellen Show, but now I get the meat of the “meat” :) Thanks.

However, I’m not sure I would use the word “bold” when it comes to famous people taking a political stance. They have a built in audience. Stars are looked at as “royalty” in this country – they have power, and a strong voice. All they have to do is use it. I don’t look at the voice of any star as anybody different than you or me. But many people do, therefore I wish more would speak up, and use their influence toward the betterment of our country.

ESPERANZA T SANTOS: I agree with you. If Guam has that many post election problems, they should upgrade. Sounds simple to me, unless the point is to not be accurate and be able to compromise the integrity of the ballots. That wouldn’t be the first time. Oh…just read your second post.

Lance: It was bound to happen. Don’t worry about it. It’s good to know what the “right” is doing. Mike was posting writes from Daily Events before and it was very informative. So no, my blog is open to all – even the liars from Daily Events. My readers don’t believe their lies – it just gives us knowledge and ammunition. Mike: Are you still around? Miss seeing you here.

ZL: Thanks for positing the URL! As far as Albright’s age, I’ll take an older woman that I admire over an older man or even a younger man who I despise any day of the week. Age doesn’t matter – what matters is what they can do. However there are exceptions when it comes to age, when holding lifetime positions: Stevens is 88, Scalia is 72, Kennedy is 71.  This is where age does count – just to name a few, these Supreme Court Justices, can’t get older fast enough for me.

Peace out…

Go Gaga

As in “Lady Gaga”. I didn’t quite get her “meat dress”, but I give Gaga kudos when it comes to her support to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”.

Lady Gaga fights `don’t ask, don’t tell’ in Maine

PORTLAND, Maine — Lady Gaga visited the state Monday on the eve of a key Senate vote to urge its two U.S. senators to help repeal the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy on gays.

More than 2,000 people attended a rally at Deering Oaks Park, where the Grammy Award-winning singer stood alongside Air Force, Army and Marine veterans who were discharged because of the policy, which prohibits service members from revealing if they’re gay and recruiters from asking about people’s sexual orientations.

Lady Gaga railed against what she called the injustice of having goodhearted gay soldiers booted from military service while straight soldiers who harbor hatred toward gays are allowed to fight for their country. She suggested a new policy should target straight soldiers who are “uncomfortable” with gay soldiers in their midst.

“Our new law is called ‘If you don’t like it, go home!’” she said.

The rally was organized by Washington-based Servicemembers Legal Defense Network. The organization is trying to pressure Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine to vote to allow a repeal of the “don’t ask” policy, put in place in 1993 by former President Bill Clinton.

The House has approved a defense authorization bill that includes a repeal of the “don’t ask” policy. In the Senate, Democrats need 60 votes on Tuesday to cut off debate and proceed to the bill, again putting Snowe and Collins in the role of casting what could be deciding votes.

Collins, who voted for a provision to repeal the “don’t ask” policy in the Armed Services Committee in May, said she favors changing the policy but disagrees with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s decision to limit debate on the defense bill and to reject Republican amendments.

Snowe has not decided how she’ll vote on Tuesday, a spokesman said Monday.

Speakers at Monday’s rally said they wanted to bring their fight to Snowe’s and Collins’ backyard. Mike Hall, a former Air Force major who was discharged after his superiors found out he’s gay, said he was proud when Collins voted in committee to repeal the policy.

“Now it’s time for her to do so again,” he said.

Lady Gaga, famous for such hits as “Bad Romance,” “Paparazzi” and “Poker Face,” skipped her trademark outlandish outfits in favor of a black suit and a pair of glasses.

At last week’s Video Music Awards ceremony, where she won eight awards, she was escorted by ex-servicemen who were discharged or left the military as the result of the “don’t ask” policy. She recently called on Reid to repeal the policy during an interview with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

Reid’s campaign and Lady Gaga traded talking points on Twitter afterward, and Reid told the singer repealing the measure was the right thing to do.

Stand Up Against Corporate Influence

Good morning. I HOPE that everyone had a wonderful weekend!

We were at the Renaissance Faire all day yesterday in Gilroy with two friends Tara and Paul. They are so into it. Especially Tara, who has designed and has had constructed many authentic elaborate costumes. I was thrilled that she was so kind to outfit me in one.

“Isabella”, and myself “Michaela”, were certainly the “ladies” of the fair with the most exquisite outfits….ex courtesans actually, from Italy. Paulo, the artist accompanied us, and “Bob”, the well endowed “pond boy” from England escorted me, fanning me all day with Peacock plumes. We garnered quite a few looks, and playing the part was fun.

Talk about “Ta Tas” up to there (That’s a nod to you ZL:) – mine certainly were. No need to stick them up and out, the corset does all the work, and is the ladies BF, not to mention, the gentleman’s. :)

Anyway, if you have never been, the Renaissance Faire is a delight to attend. And if you go don’t forget to attend the joust. :)

Now onto today’s topic. Not enough can be said about special interests backing election ads, which means they can and will have a strong influence on the outcome of elections. It is a time where people can not be big “L”, little “a”, little “z”, and “y” are you so “Lazy”? It is a time where people really need to ask question…do a little digging…stand up against corporate influence.

Here’s the latest from MoveOn:

Dear MoveOn member,

As we move into election season, we wanted to send you a quick update on our big campaign to challenge corporate influence and thank you for your good work!

We started this campaign, at the beginning of the summer, not knowing how many candidates we’d be able to get to commit to our effort and believing that only a massive grassroots effort would make this campaign possible. Thanks to your incredible work, that campaign has blown away this summer’s goals.

In fact, nearly 200 candidates and members of Congress, along with 500,000 individuals, have endorsed the Fight Washington Corruption pledge—our three-part blueprint to overturn the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling, enact publicly-financed elections, and reduce the influence of lobbyists in Washington.

Thanks in part to our work together, corporate lobbying and influence have become increasingly important themes in the election. Just last week, for example, The New York Times ran a front-page profile of Republican leader John Boehner focused on his links to corporate lobbyists1. And candidates like Paul Hodes in New Hampshire have come out with new plans to shut the revolving door between government and industry2.

Meanwhile, though, the problem is only getting worse. In the wake of Citizens United, corporate interests are spending an astounding $400 million to buy the election for Republicans3. Which is why our focus between now and November needs to be on supporting the candidates who’ve stood up against corporate influence, and beating back the hostile corporate takeover of Congress!

Succeeding in this election will be tough, but thanks to the amazing work that you and other MoveOn members did on this campaign over the summer we now have a solid foundation for taking on these Republicans and the corporations behind them. We’ll be in touch soon with ways you can get involved in the election your area, but for now, thank you for your commitment to this campaign and to our cause.

Readers: Get involved. Do something. On another political note, while phone banking on Saturday for a few hours, I, as well as, Doug (Thanks Doug for coming with me!) talked to several people who were on the fence not only about voting in November, but of certain candidates. But after listening and pointing out a few key reasons why they should vote for the Democratic nominee over the Republican nominee, we were able to not only get people to go and vote but to vote Democratic. See…phone banking really does work.

Taylor: I agree. Thanks for the confidence in me and my blog.

Rufus: That is so funny. It had me going. :)

Lea: Perhaps you should read the comment from Xur.

Ruth: Helpful article. Thanks for posting. I HOPE al is going well with you ad your girls, Evelyn included. Haven’t heard much from that girl. I take it Evelyn and Harris are enjoying each other still. Give them both my best just in case they are too busy to read. :)

Tina: I read the article. Interesting. Without knowing your circumstances, only you would know best. Good luck.

Will: I am always blown away that people will fall for things like this, but they do. Keep us posted on the response. I would love to hear it.

Peace out…
