I Am Anti Anything….

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 24th January 2009

I have been told it was quite a day yesterday on my blog. Many of you could not only not get in to comment, but it many of you were not even capable of reading my site. It seems that many countries are now blocking my site as they feel that I am so anti this and anti that. If you are lucky enough to not be residing in one of those countries that is banning my blog and you can actually read this, you know that I am not anti ANY country.

In fact I am FOR every country.  What I am anti about, is the racism and sexism in those countries….in ANY country really. I love the diversity of this world, yet it is the differences that not only make people interesting but it is what is keeping us separate  - we have yet to see us as one world…world citizens.

Am I anti men? I have been accused of hating men. I am not anti men nor do I hate men.  But I am anti ANY man who does not support women, who does not treat women equally, and who abuses women either, physically, emotionally, or sexually. And as we all know all of those actions are rampant in this world. I do not hate men in general but I hate the actions that many men take.

So, am I anti religion? Yes and No. No…I think religion can bring people together.  It also keeps many people from doing worse things to each other for fear that God will not receive them in heaven. The way I have seen people treat each other, some could use all of the help they can get. And, on the other hand, some religions, which seem to be written by men, allow men to do horrific things to others, especially to their women because, ‘God says so’. So yes, I am anti those religions. I don’t believe a God would say that it was okay to treat women as men feel they have the right to treat them.  If you have read any of the comments from my sisters around the world, you would know that they feel the same way.

I am okay with your religion as long as you don’t push your beliefs on me, and negate my beliefs or religion, or lack there of. But hmmm…is there such a religion?  Maybe at one time religion did bring people together…but is it not creating more separateness presently?

All that being said, I am anti ANYTHING that does not let people live their lives as they choose as long as they and their actions reciprocate. You know…life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…Live and let live. EVERYONE deserves this.

Whether you can read me or not, I am still here and will be as long as possible.

Peace & Love….

Gratefully your blog host,

michelle

Are You Laughing yet?

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 23rd January 2009

Good Morning….

Ahahha!! So…in my article yesterday morning, I included a didley that I read on ‘The Huff’, about Bush pardoning bin Laden…did any of you get it was a spoof? Are you laughing yet? Just testing to see if my readers actually research what I write. :) I was hoping to hear from a few of you, but wha’at…no comments (?!)

The author of the article,  David Rees, a satirical writer, was having fun with his audience but apparently many took him seriously.  When I began to read the article I found it to be believable myself, (Am I getting way too serious about life?) …but the more I read the more it seemed funny, and then I came to the one line that stood out as particularly strange and very funny:

‘Kristol sucked his thumb for a few minutes, lost in thought. He was then distracted by a brightly colored piece of string.’

(William Kristol is a Conservative columnist)

As funny as this is, the sad thing is, Bush pardoning bin Laden, would not surprise me in the least, and apparently many people felt the same way.  With everything that Bush has done in his reign…they wouldn’t put him past it.

Anyway, I hope that you got a good laugh out of it….and if not, I hope that you are at least relieved. We all need a little humor in these crying…I mean trying times.  Lighten up will ya? :)

Too little time to say much more….gotta run.

Obama….He Will Succeed

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 22nd January 2009

I woke up this morning and tuned into ‘The Huff’ and the headlines read, “President Obama Sings Order To Close Guantanamo Bay”.  ’Sings’ eh?  I had a vision for a minute of him bellowing out a tune and all the suits behind him singing along as the chorus. I strayed away from the page and came back 15 minutes later to see if the typo was corrected, and it was still there. Nice to know that I am not the only one that flubs up in the editing department.

Then I read a little didley about Obama’s eleventh hour pardon of Osama bin Laden for the murder of more than 2,700 Americans in the fall of 2001. Wow. This man is taking the power of his presidency to the end. But I’m not surprised….I mean the Bush family are friends with the bin Ladens. It was probably a plan all along to pardon him in the end. Bush is no longer President and if action is taken to get him prosecuted he’s going to need all of the friends he can muster up. Who knows, he may need to escape to a country that won’t try to convict him. Plus…I have always believed and still do believe that 911 was an inside job.

Anyway, a White House aide who requested to be anonymous, went off saying how the president was finding closure…blah, blah, blah…and then he said this: “Can you believe this dude (Bush) was actually president for eight (expletive) years? What were we thinking? Seriously, what the (expletive) were we thinking?” Oh and I love this part: Then he began to quietly weep saying, ”May God have mercy on me for my role in the unfathomable travesty that was the Bush administration.” Oh, now you’re begging for mercy. Now that the country is totally fucked up you want mercy. Boo hoo…I feel sorry for you. Where were you when all of unfathomable travesty was happening?  Obviously you hung in there and found it fathomable, otherwise you would’ve done something about it. You had 8 years dude.

AND…the badmin are still at it. How else can they make Obama look bad and be an unsuccessful president?  Anonz pointed out yesterday that the swearing in was meant to be screwed up to keep the ‘boy’ in his place. What other plans do they have?

It just goes to show you that the repugnants really do not care about the people of the United States. After everything that has happened over these past months created by the badmin over the past 8+ years, they will still do anything in their power to fuck up this country even more than it is now. And now that Obama is in office they are more inspired to do so – god forbid if a black man pulls this country back together – how will the white man look? I am positive that the way the world is celebrating Obama, is just irking the republicans to no end. Obama not only needs a strong and loyal administration, and support of the people, but he needs to  keep his enemies close.

As far as me being monitered and spied on – I am aware of their eyes on me. But if they try to manipulate me?….Ha! They’ve already messed with my blog – They try to fuck with my livelihood, they have fucked with the wrong person. My connections are more loyal and more powerful than they can imagine.

As far as Obama…he will succeed

Ahh….I need a breather. It is just too early in the morning for me to get all wrapped up in politics…I would rather be wrapped up in loving arms…(hint hint)…come on home baby…

Speaking of…Doug…thank you for your support yesterday.

Oh…just checked out The Huff  - the typo is now corrected.

It is the small, every day actions that create the makeup of our lives

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 21st January 2009

So how does it feel?  I mean having a new president? I can tell you that I feel that same as millions of others out there….overjoyed!

However, my day yesterday started off not exactly how I wanted it to start. I went to work disappointed that I was working so early and not being able to see and be in the mix of the excitement with Doug, and my friends.  I wanted to watch Obama’s speech and him taking the oath ‘live’. Yes, I knew that I could watch it later on youtube etc., but this was such a momentous time, historical…I wanted to ‘be there’ as much as I could, which meant experiencing it as ‘live’ as I could possibly, without actually being there.

So off I went to work, expecting to at least watch it online, all of us coworkers excitedly gathered around the computer. But to my disappointment, our computers were not set up that way. I work for a new company and we aren’t even open for business yet, so things aren’t quite ready. ‘Okay’, I thought, ‘I’ll listen to Obama on the radio.’ Wrong. ipods dominate here – no radio. ‘Shit! What do I do now?’ A few of us excited about the speech were really bummed.

To make a long story short, I busily started working till I heard that some electrician in the building had a radio and Obama was 5 minutes into his speech. I quickly went over to the department head and asked her if I could take a break and listen to the speech on the radio. My coworkers were silent. She looked at me, asked me how many hours I was working. I answered her.  She hemmed and hawed a bit and said that if it was more than 10 minutes, I needed to clock out. Yes, I have to admit, it is very humbling to not have my time be my own anymore.  I haven’t had to punch a time clock in, I don’t know how many years. (Maybe I’ll blog about this at a later time.)

And now I am being told that I have to punch out in order to watch one of the most important events in my life. Okay, I can accept that you are corporate and you feel you need to play by the rules (yuch). But c’mon,  this is not something that happens every day. Can you bend a little? This company has no problem celebrating a birthday and having everyone break for cake. Yet, today, at this very moment, we are celebrating a new president – something this world has been anticipating and she can’t give a little more support, create some camaraderie between this new team of employees.  It blew me away.

How cool it would’ve been if she had just stopped everyone from their busy work and encouraged us to take a break and watch history in the making. If she herself had acknowledged the moment that she walked in that morning, that this was a special day and that if anyone was interested in listening to Obama, she supported us taking the time to do so. Even if she said, ‘I have to have you punch out but please do so if this is important to you because I know how important of a day this is.’

But no. No such words came out of her mouth. I felt like I was asking her to take a week off with pay. Everyone there felt the uncomfortable vibe, and no one said a word. I eventually walked away to listen to Obama’s speech on this small hand held radio, sitting next to it, a small Gumby-type figurine of Obama that one of the stock guys propped down for effect. It made me laugh as I and two electricians intensely listened while my co-workers missed out.

I lost a lot of respect for this woman yesterday. I like her still, but her actions revealed more about her that I was not aware of until then. She had an opportunity to shine, an opportunity to create something in this new work environment and she missed the boat. She was playing by the book. Yeah she may have gotten some flack from corporate, if they ever found out that the entire staff stopped working for 20 minutes to celebrate Obama. But I doubt it. And even if she did, how difficult would it be to stand up for her ‘team’ for such an historical event?  Who cares if she voted for Obama or not. In her small-mindedness, she couldn’t see past her own corporate concerns to do the right thing. In her small-mindedness she was thinking of herself, her control position, and not her team.

In my mind, her actions didn’t reflect ‘unity’, something that Obama is striving to inspire in this country. Her actions created separateness and I feel they will have a bigger impact on her staff than she is presently aware of. Am I being too hard on her? I don’t think so. It is the small, every day actions that create the makeup of our lives. If we are to live in the now, in the moment, then each moment has meaning and purpose.  Each action is a reflection of ourselves and that reflection has an impact on those around us. We have a responsibility to think and make conscious choices and take conscious actions. Enough said.

In spite of my morning I did enjoy the speech. Our country has a long way to go but I am hopeful and optimistic. And I am inspired to be a better person because I want Obama to be a successful president. He can’t do it all on his own unless we are united and doing our part too.

So last night, Doug and I gathered with a few of our dear friends and celebrated hope and change…and of course toasted our new president Obama.

Readers: How was your evening – anything exciting you want to share? Blog me.

Zen Lill: I love Ghandi’s quote too. It is so relevant and always will be. And again, you are speaking of unity and doing our part.  I agree.

Hi Carmen and Maria: You’re welcome. It was difficult doing the research but I learned so much in the process. Enlightening but very disturbing.  More fuel for my fire. As far as Madaline is concerned…I have hope that there will be a better way than elimination

Hooray For Inauguration Day!

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 20th January 2009

In a few hours from now Bush will step down and Obama will be our new president. Oh, I have looked forward to this day as many of you have for months…for years…and some for their entire lives.

Many of you including myself worked hard on this campaign giving your money, and your time, to insure that this country elected a president who cares about the earth and it’s inhabitants. I congratulate all of you for being inspired these past months and shouting, ‘No more!’, and saying, ‘Yes!’ – to hope and change

I still think back to the day when Obama won and it will be a memorable day for me, forever. Thanks to those of you who shared it with me in person and here on my blog. Today is the day to celebrate and welcome change with open arms. We did it. Barack Obama has a huge job ahead of him. And today….and for our future,  we must do our part to help him too.

When he takes his oath today what oath will you take? Obama needs not only our support but our unwavering commitment to our country.  He’s going to be working his ass off….How will you work harder? What changes will you make for the environment, the animals, the children of our future? We are all in the together, and we must work at it together

I know that he is going to need all of us backing him to prosecute Bush. With an approval rate of Obama at 84% (?), it sounds like he just may have the backing of the people to do this. Don’t assume anything. Make sure your voice is heard again. I know I will be shouting ‘my two’. Let’s establish a true government, ‘of, by, and for the people.’

We have a lot to get through in the coming months and years, but today…today I’m just going to celebrate. I will be working, but my heart and mind will be singing. I am so filled with joy.

Happy Inauguration Day!  Peace & Love…
