‘It’s so easy to give something up you don’t have’

Posted by michellemoquin on 4th October 2008

‘It’s so easy to give something up you don’t have’ – That was once said by Anonz a bit ago. I have had the same experience lately when speaking to a friend who was so willing to stick with the republican party even with the risk that his daughter might lose the rights over her body. His answer? ‘It doesn’t matter we won’t be here; we’ll live overseas.’   Oh okay, so because you’re leaving you could care less about the rest of us here stuck with a repug administration? Then why the fuck vote Republican, supporting your party, just to say, ‘fuck ‘em and leave? You’re really saying ‘fuck you’ to the rest of us. ‘I’ll vote the repubs in, and you deal with them.’ Gee thanks.

Then he went into a spiel about the ERA and really what has it done for women….’blah blah blah’. And I came back with. ‘Yeah, well, the ERA shouldn’t have to exist in the first place. Men and women should be treated the same and have the same rights, period. Women, aren’t second class citizens.’ He came back with , ‘Hey you’re preaching to the choir.’  Uh…’I don’t think so. Your actions are speaking quite louder than your words.’

Then he went on to casually say that Roe v Wade ‘most likely’ wouldn’t ever be turned over. He laughed saying, ‘Look if it happens,  just abstain from having sex and within a week  you’ll get your rights back.’  (hello!) Oh, so now you’re asking us to give up our pleasure too?!  First we lose the rights over our body because of a man, then we are told by a man, that the solution is to abstain from something that gives us pleasure in order to get back out rights.  Now why didn’t I think of that?

We all know that men think with the little head and not the big head most of the time.  Why do you think this world is so fucked up? The pussy has so much power, it’s just too bad the collective pussy doesn’t realize that without us, there would be no man…not continuation of the species. Now there is power…a power worth the swinging dick to worry about. Because to man, the continuation of his species…really his race…is everything.

Politics aside, I have enjoyed this person. He really is no different from the majority of the men out there. But coming from a white man, the most privileged men in this world, it is so easy to joke about something that will never affect him. I have to repeat, ‘It’s so easy to give something up you don’t have.’ You don’t have the worry of losing your rights to choose; losing the rights over your body. You don’t have the worry of whether you are getting paid the same salary as another, or if you’re making less just because you’re a man. You don’t have the worry of…How easily you can give away women’s rights because you as a man have never had any of your rights taken away.

You as a man are so privileged and the mere thought of anyone even suggesting that you would not have the rights over your body would send you through the roof. Hell, what if men were told, ‘There is a new law.  Your wife owns you. You can no longer be free with that thing you swing.  From now on, your pleasure prodder is under lock and key.’ You know, like a chastity belt for men. (Some women once forced to wear these!) Fair? There is a new law. ‘Men are going to get paid less money than women for the same job.’ No reason…just because you are a man. Fair? Now how easy is it to give up something that you don’t have?

Hey ZL:  I was surprised and delighted that you went to mm’s site and signed the letter. Now we’ll just have to wait and see.

Hi Anonz: Usually in games, those who choose not to play the game do not get effected by the game, regardless of the rules or in this case, the lack of rules and regulations. In this game of life, everyone is affected whether they chose to play or not.

And in reality, if we are all players by default, just because we are humans living on this planet with a right to vote, there is rarely a politician in either party that doesn’t have his hand out. Could the public, the lowly players, really have voted in an administration that wasn’t corrupt in some way? Hating the game is one thing but what real choice do the lowly players have when the choices of the games to play are corrupt to begin with?  You know…what is the lesser of two evils?  When Clinton was in office, were you not also making bills?  Will Obama be tempted too because he will have no support otherwise? Only the very rich and connected seem to be the ones that can afford to run for office and if they somehow make it there otherwise, will they too not be tempted to take advantage of the stupid people? What position do we play except to make it easy for those who want power and wealth to gain it. Without the lowly players, there would be no game. All that would be left is a handful of bills fighting amongst themselves for what? Money and power wouldn’t mean much then would it?

Lastly, okay I get that people don’t police themselves. But is there ever a  point that one says, ‘Okay, maybe I created the game…maybe I’m a big player and there are no rules, but I’ve taken enough’? I know you’re thinking, ‘If anyone is going to have all of the control, all of the money, all of the power…it might as well be me.’  I’m so looking forward to seeing exactly what your plans are with your acquired abundance.

Hey Bob:  No one says that you should ‘feel sorry for the greedy bastards that supported the republicans to make a profit at their fellow citizens expense.” What about the ones that didn’t support the greedy republicans? Not everyone voted Republican.

Hi Shelly:  Palin ‘aint’ speakin’ to me. :)

Biden Blew Ahead While Palin Lacked in Performance

Posted by michellemoquin on 3rd October 2008

I watched the VP debate last night and as much as I was anticipating (and I admit it, ‘hoping’) Palin to be a flop, she wasn’t as bad as I expected, but you can’t say she was all that good either. More than anything, I just didn’t buy what she was saying. With the winking and her cliché driven caption like comments, it was hard to take her seriously. Did she really say anything worthy of repeating?  No.  I kept putting my fingers up mimicking her ‘blah blah blah’. I never quite felt like she was answering the questions, even the ones she wasn’t dodging. I guess that cram session in AZ didn’t help much….it certainly didn’t win her a spot in the west wing.

And to me her chipper attitude was only a mask for the truth that lies beneath….just not sure what truth that is. And, I’m not sure that I want to see it. She seems like the kind of person that you would not want to get on her bad side…the kind of person that could get wicked on you pretty quickly. I know this sounds really bad but she feels very unauthentic to me – her ‘down-home’ remarks, her funny facial expressions, her lack of compassion, even the way she was holding her baby in the end….it all felt very unnatural, very mimicked, and rehearsed.  I’m usually charmed by down-to-earth quirkiness, but in spite of her trying to ‘relate’, there was no connection there….no words that told me she really cared.  She left me with an empty feeling. — I know that sounds cold but, what can I say. Just my opinion.  Still…my gut instinct:  ‘I don’t trust this woman.’  Not uncommon to hear in the world of politics.   But politics aside, I wouldn’t trust her as a friend either.

Biden, on the other hand, was calm, cool, informative, and confident. He countered Palin point by point and articulated himself clearly and passionately. He demonstrated knowledge by answering the questions, ah…not avoiding them like his opponent. To me he came off ‘real’. He seems to genuinely care. He took several good punches at McCain and still kept his cool while doing it. Biden is a pro. To me, he did a superb job and clearly won the debate.

Still…I have to admit, a few times I wished it was Hillary up there debating against Sarah ‘aw shucks’ Palin. :)

Palin:”If you have something to say….” And Peeps: “Don’t say nothing – continue to voice!”

Posted by michellemoquin on 2nd October 2008

Today is the day…the ever so anticipated debate between Biden and Palin. It has been said that Palin actually does a decent job debating. I have yet to see for myself. But if she’s as clueless as she is in interviews, this should be very interesting.

Just as a little reminder I thought I would post some of Palin’s greatest moments during her ‘Job interviews’  - that’s what I call them because she is really out there to prove to the American people that she can do the job, and clearly she can’t. She is pathetic. And as ‘Maxine’ says, (you know the crabby cartoon character) “If you have something to say, raise your hand and place it over your mouth.” I agree, because really to date, whatever has come out of this woman’s mouth has meant absolutely nothing and is not worth hearing.

Moving on….well sort of.

Since the bailout is so fresh on our minds, did ya catch what Palin said about the bailout, aka: ‘The Economic Stabilazation Act.’?  It’s all about ‘health reform’ Palin says! Ah…Is this woman living on this planet? And if she uses that word, ‘shoring-up’ one more time, I’m gonna loose it.

I know this is somewhat repetitive but ya got to watch this video too.  The beginning you have seen but the end is priceless.  Jack Cafferty from CNN really tells us how he feels about Sarah Palin:

Lastly, ’cause I just can’t leave it at that. The senate passed the bailout 74-25 and Congress is going to make their decision tomorrow.  There isn’t much time. I say, ‘Let the Economic Stabilization Act Die!’ Are you feeling the same same as me? Maybe these words from Michael Moore will convince you:

The richest 400 Americans — that’s right, just four hundred people – own MORE than the bottom 150 million Americans combined.400 rich Americans have got more stashed away than half the entire country! Their combined net worth is $1.6 trillion. During the eight years of the Bush Administration, their wealth has increased by nearly $700 billion – the same amount that they are now demanding we give to them for the “bailout.” Why don’t they just spend the money they made under Bush to bail themselves out? They’d still have nearly a trillion dollars left over to spread amongst themselves! Of course, they are not going to do that — at least not voluntarily….

Anonz is our confirmation of this.  What did he say yesterday?  ’I am drunk with money.’

Come on peeps, Don’t say nothing – continue to voice! Anonz brought up good idea yesterday: ‘The real solution is to get control of the mortgage pool. The goverment needs to help the people pay those mortgages by forcing the banks to roll back those usury rates and if necessary LOAN money directly to the mortgager.’  Michael Moore has some good ideas too. If you want to read more on Moore. He’s got an entire bailout plan in favor of the people. Go to his website.

I wrote 3 letters online last night and I am encouraging you to at least write one more. I’m enclosing the same website where your letter, like last time, will be automatically sent to all the appropriate people. And  Call your Senators now. Here’s a backup link in case we crash that site again. We had a strong voice before; let’s not let it die here. We need to see this thing to the end. We need to let Obama know that we are feeling the same way: ‘No Bailout.’ Get on it. Thanks.

Lord and Sidney:  I think the new site’s gonna work out just fine. I have no plans to close down. In fact, Readers: Stay tuned for some cool additions to the blog. I’m happy it all went Pretty smoothly.

We’ve bought another 72 hours

Posted by michellemoquin on 30th September 2008

I have to say that Americans are making history – America is pulling a Howard Beale and shouting, “We’re tired as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore!” Hundreds of thousands of Americans woke up yesterday (finally)  and decided to take action and revolt against the bill that everyone said would pass. Millions of people jammed the lines with their phone calls and emails just to give their two cents, their feelings on this entire bailout bs. The politicians didn’t see it coming. We’ve finally found our moxie….we’re coming together as a community.

It was a rare historic moment. Not only is the president not being backed by his party which says a lot,  but the bill supported by both parties went down in defeat. The people are shouting loud and finally being heard.. we are having an impact and this is huge.

Forty percent of Democrats and two-thirds of Republicans voted against the bill: a 228 vote to 205.

Why do you think the parties are banning together? Gee do you think the repugs are just a tad scared they are going lose their seats in the house? A bit nervous that up to 30 seats could be lost and their big plans would go down the toilet?  Just maybe…if they act like they are on the side of the people and not on the side of our president, just maybe they might save their asses and their agenda’s.  These are the same repugs who  backed the war, put our country into debt, and voted out any and all regulations that would make the Wall Streeters accountable for this economic mess that were in. Yep…these are the same repugs who are now standing up for main street. Or….do you think that Bob is correct when he commented yesterday that the anonzs of the world own the repugs – Anonz stated he was not for the bailout. Hmmm…

And the Dems?  Well from what I read, some of them who voted for the bailout were in fear just like many of the people. So…did their fears showed up yesterday when the market dropped in the Dow, the largest drop in history of the New York stock exchange?  The news media screamed it was disastrous – 1.2 trillion dollars lost in the stock market. People will lose jobs, say goodbye to retirement funds  and stock-based pensions.

But ya know what? When you stand up for what you believe in some people are going to get hurt financially, some people are going to lose their jobs. Nothing really worth fighting for comes easy or for free.  Freedom and the right to fight for our freedoms has a price. We have stood up to our government, albeit it has been a really long time since we have shouted like this, but we have finally woken up from our sleep.

And as far as Wall Street is concerned…nobody really lost anything.  Stocks go up. Stocks go down. And throw in my fav motto this year…’And this too shall pass.’  We all know that the anonzs of the world are always going to make money.  The rich will buy low, hold, then sell off and buy low again. Bailout or no bailout, they will be reaping the profits and continuing to fleece. It just is what it is.

So why do you think the bailout didn’t fly?

This is what I found out. The bill didn’t favor the average American – check it out:

1. The bailout bill had NO enforcement provisions for the so-called oversight group that was going to monitor Wall Street’s spending of the $700 billion;

2. It had NO penalties, fines or imprisonment for any executive who might steal any of the people’s money;

3. It did NOTHING to force banks and lenders to rewrite people’s mortgages to avoid foreclosures — this bill would not have stopped ONE foreclosure!;

(Remember when I said yesterday that they would ‘try’?)

4. It had NO teeth anywhere in the entire piece of legislation, using words like “suggested” when referring to the government being paid back for the bailout;

5. Over 200 economists wrote to Congress and said this bill might actually WORSEN the “financial crisis” and cause even MORE of a meltdown.

Lastly, I have to add this video. Rep. Marcy Kaptur stood up and said it all – You have got to watch this. She calls it the latest ‘reality game’ called: ‘Wall Street Bailout”.  She is so right on.

We’ve bought another 72 hours.  Continue to voice your opinion. The fight isn’t over yet.

Readers:  You know I want to hear your thoughts. To all my international readers…c’mon now, do you still think we’re all that stupid? You have to admit…this is getting good.

Peace out.

If Congress passes the bailout, what will it mean for the taxpayers?

Posted by michellemoquin on 29th September 2008

Bush says, “Without this rescue plan, the costs to the American economy could be disastrous,”  Isn’t it already? But wait….Remember what AH said? It really isn’t a crisis. If no action was taken would we seize up and spiral into a recession, or is that just the badmin inducing more fear into the minds of the Americans to get their hands on the money? We’ve been informed that it is the latter…that it is all a tactic to scare the masses. Remember what AH said the American people stand to lose? Let me repeat:

1. His bank account.
2. His mutual fund or money market account;
3. His 401K or other retirement investment;
4. His ability to borrow money;
5.His employment because his employer can’t borrow money. That’s it folks. That’s all the risk the average person has in this pot.

And AH gave several solutions to the average person’s loss to protect yourself them from losing in those 5 areas above. So it’s really not as bad as they want us to believe.  But of course they have to make us think that we are in a crisis so they can move forward with the bailout.

“If we do not do this, the trauma, the chaos and the disruption to everyday Americans’ lives will be overwhelming, and that’s a price we can’t afford to risk paying,” Sen. Judd Gregg, the chief Senate Republican in the talks, told The Associated Press.

Again, more scare tactics. Hello! Wake up…American lives are already disrupted; they are already traumatized by the one fact that they are standing to lose their home if they haven’t already? It can’t get much worse for many? Again, look at the above list. Believe me, if this didn’t happen to the Wall Streeters, and it was business as usual, all of the Americans who are loosing their homes and needing to be bailed out would not be given a second thought.  We’d be hearing the same same that they touted before the fall, ‘You should’ve been more responsible. You shouldn’t have tried to purchase a mortgage that you knew you couldn’t afford.’

Forget the fact that they knew you couldn’t afford it, but gave it to you anyway and could care less whether you were able to ever make the payments. Forget the fact that they knew these low interest rates would eventually lead to this. Forget that there was lack of regulatory enforcement of any laws.  The Federal Reserve was warned about the effects of lack of regulation several times over the last expansion. So you might as well forget too that In 2001, a senior Treasury official, Sheila C. Bair, tried to persuade subprime lenders to adopt a code of ‘best practices’ and to let outside monitors verify their compliance. Guess what? None of the lenders would agree to the monitors, and not surprisingly…many rejected the code itself. Even those who did adopt those practices, Ms. Bair recalled recently, soon let them slip.

It was all about greed. These people saw it coming but all they wanted to see was all of the money they were making at the expense of the American home buyers. Household debt exploded.  It increased from $7.6 trillion in 2001 to $14 trillion in the second quarter of this year. That’s a huge increase. And..most of it was mortgage debt, which increased from $5.3 trillion to $10.6 trillion over the same time period. All of that debt had to go somewhere — namely the balance sheet of every financial company on the planet.

So…If Congress passes the bailout, what will it mean for the tax payers?

“This isn’t about a bailout of Wall Street, it’s a buy-in, so that we can turn our economy around,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. But will it?  I’m not sure that I buy that statement. I mean our government will be the ones who take over these huge devalued assets….our government..you know the ones that are screwing us right this moment.  I don’t trust our current badmin. I don’t trust that they will act in the best interest of the people and our economic state.  They haven’t in the past, why would they now?

So this is part of the proposed plan:

Let Bush only have half and they’ll make him jump through hoops before using it all. Yeah okay.  Since when does Bush jump through hoops? We know he doesn’t follow the rules. He does what he wants to do. (Or what God tells him to.)  And after the initial $250 billion all he has to do is certify that another $100 billion is necessary, which we know he will come up with something to deem it necessary. Any bets on how long that will take? And the $350 billion balance?  Sure, he needs a separate certification subject to a congressional resolution of disapproval, but that’s easily resolved: Bush can veto the resolution.  I’m sure his plans are to have it all in his greedy little hands asap, and this piece-mealing is just a bunch of BS to make us look like they have a plan and that they are really concerned about using it wisely. Uh huh.

Okay so what else is proposed in this plan?

  • ‘The rescue would only be open to companies who deny their executives “golden parachutes” and limit their pay packages. Firms that got the most help through the program _ $300 million or more _ would face steep taxes on any compensation for their top people over $500,000.’
  • ‘The government would receive stock warrants in return for the bailout relief, giving taxpayers a chance to share in recipients’ future profits.’

But this is what really caught my eye:

  • ‘To help struggling homeowners, the plan would require the government to try renegotiating the bad mortgages it acquires with the aim of lowering borrowers’ monthly payments so they can keep their homes.’

Okay the word to focus on here is the word ‘try’.  Our government is going to be in control of these loans and they are going to ‘try’ renegotiating the bad loans so that homeowners can keep their homes.  I don’t know about you, but our administration has been fucking us for the last 8 years and quite frankly they are the last people on earth I would trust to ‘try’ and save my home.  How about just making a commitment  and doing it – there is no try, just do it. They are not innocent in this mess. It was their greed in the first place that got our economy in the state that it is in.  They know how to bulk up their own pockets by using what ever means necessary.  How about doing whatever is necesssary to help the home owners? My bottom line: Fix it.

Their bottom line: Our governement wants to rescue the super rich from falling flat on their asses.  Our government is scrambling to resolve this issue – where was the scrambling when the average american was falling on his ass? Oh…but the super rich are much more important  than the average American. ‘These corps are the livelihood of our economy, they must be rescued!’ – yeah more like their BFF’s at the old boys club.

I know this plan is probably going to pass but I still say, ‘Screw them, let the wall fall.’ The $700 billion is going to effect us big time no matter who is in the White House. Oh and the super rich? It’ll just be more money in their pockets and they’ll continue to do what they do best – fleece the stupid Americans over and over again.
