Good morning!

Well…so nice to see that the blog opened up – I was getting a bit lonely and thought I might have to go through this election all by myself. I’m happy to see all of you here with me – Please stick around.

The day we’ve all been waiting for…the day we’ve been working so hard for is here tomorrow.  Any last minute suggestions? Inspirations? Pleas? :=) Here’s my inspiration…

…and don’t be surprised if I throw in one last minute for tomorrow.

Bob: Thanks for the link. I saw this, and yes I agree with you – it is sickening. Unfortunately you won’t see this on any other station but MSNBC.

Ron, Larry: I am so glad that both of you responded to Brad, so that I didn’t have to. I just didn’t have the energy this morning.

Melissa: Thanks for your comment. Girl, this is your time to shine. You’re in the fray firsthand. Do all you can do. Madaline and I will be doing the same. C’mon girls…let’s stick together.

Leo: I agree with you completely. Let’s HOPE something will be done.

Gladys: The republican party is far different than it used to be when your father first voted republican. I am delighted that this time he is not voting party, but voting policy. Thank you Dad!

DS: Hooray!

Adam: You got that right. People are just looking for an excuse…any excuse to unseat Obama, and any excuse to vote white.  We have the power to stop them.

Janet:  Thanks for being a loyal reader for two years. And I understand about your friends. I was listening to NPR the other day and it was shocking the things that were said between two people who discovered each other’s party was not the same. The democrats weren’t exactly nice but the republicans were ruthless, some ending the relationship on the spot. I’m delighted you are no longer part of the LSOS party.

Readers: I have more to say, but I will reserve my comment until tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it.

Peace out.

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.

We’ve Got The Power

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 4th November 2012

Good morning!

Obama’s been pushing it and he’s been pushing it good. But as he said in his speech last night in Virginia, “You know, but the power is not with us anymore…It’s up to you. You’ve got the power.”

Obama: ‘I’m Sort Of A Prop In The Campaign’

In a speech to supporters in Virginia on Saturday night, President Barack Obama told the crowd, “I’m sort of a prop in the campaign.”

“You know, I was backstage with David Plouffe, some of you guys know he’s sort of a mastermind of campaign organization and we were talking about how as the campaign goes on, we become less relevant,” the president said. “I’m sort of a prop in the campaign. He’s just bothering a bunch of folks, calling, asking what’s going on.”

He continued, “You know, but the power is not with us anymore. The planning, everything we do, it doesn’t matter because now it’s all up to you. It’s up to the volunteers. It’s up to somebody knocking on a door. It’s up to somebody making a phone call. It’s up to somebody talking to their mom, or their dad, or their wife or their husband, or their grandma or grandpa, and that’s how democracy is supposed to be. It’s up to you. You’ve got the power.”

Obama delivered his remarks after former president Bill Clinton delivered a fiery speech to introduce the president in the critical battleground. The AP reports:

Clinton, his voice hoarse from a flurry of campaign events, said he had given “my voice in the service of my president.” The former president vouched for Obama’s economic agenda, saying he had done a good job with a bad hand.Obama, in his fourth rally of the day, sought to draw a connection between the flush economy Clinton presided over and his own policies for a second term, including increasing taxes on upper income earners.

The joint rally drew more than 24,000 people to an outdoor arena on a chilly November night. Obama and Clinton will campaign together again Sunday morning in New Hampshire.

The latest polls out on the presidential race show Obama holding a slim advantage over Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in key swing states, including Virginia.

*******

Readers: It’s down to the last few days and I don’t know about all of you but I am HOPEing and praying that people will go out and vote for Obama. I don’t care if you’re a repub telling your friends and family that you are voting for Romney, as long as you vote for Obama when you are alone in that voting booth…and let me remind you to vote Democrat all the way! We need those long flowing coattails too.

And…I know this is a long shot, but I am also HOPEing that the ruthless racists will come to their senses and realize that Obama is the better candidate for our country…for all…who will look out and work hard for all of us. What more can I say? I am always HOPEing that goodness outshines and overcomes.

That being said, a little hint here and there isn’t bad either to inspire an Obama/Democrat ticket. Call me crazy, but I going to keep pushing and fighting this to the end. I’ve got the power…you’ve got the power…we’ve got the power.

So here’s that hint I’m talking about….this political parody was e-mailed to me so I thought I would share it with you:

What’s Going On In Ohio?

Good morning!

Since all the talk is on Ohio, I thought this was apropos to post:

The Free Press confirms installation, secret justification of uncertified last minute election tabulation reporting software in Ohio

by Gerry Bello and Bob Fitrakis
November 2, 2012

The Free Press has obtained internal memos from the senior staff of the Ohio Secretary of State’s office confirming the installation of untested and uncertified election tabulation software. Yesterday, the Free Press reported that “experimental” software patches were installed on ES&S voting machines in 39 Ohio counties. (see Will “experimental” software patches affect the Ohio vote?).

Election Counsel Brandi Laser Seske circulated a memo dated November 1st renewing the already shaky justification for installing software made by Election Systems and Solutions on vote tabulation equipment used in 39 Ohio counties. The letter to Ohio Secretary of State personnel Matt Masterson, Danielle Sellars, Myra Hawkins, Betsy Schuster, and Ohio’s Director of Elections Matthew Damschroder, clarified the dubious justification for not complying with the legal requirements for the examination of all election related equipment.

Seske begins by explaining what she purports to be the purpose of the software patch: “Its function is to aid in the reporting of results that are already uploaded into the county’s system. The software formats results that have already been uploaded by the county into a format that can be read by the Secretary of State’s election night reporting system.”

According to the contract between the Ohio Secretary of State’s office and ES&S, this last minute “experimental” software update will supposedly transmit custom election night reports to the Secretary of State’s office from the county boards of elections, bypassing the normal election night reporting methods.

In order to justify this unusual parallel reporting method, Seske explains “It is not part of the certified Unity system, so it did not require federal testing.” This attempt to skirt federal and state law from one of the most partisan Secretary of State offices in the nation ignores basic facts of how modern information systems function.

Seske continues “Because the software is not 1) involved in the tabulation or casting of ballots (or in communicating between systems involved in the tabulation or casting of ballots) or 2) a modification to a certified system, the BVME [Board of Voting Machine Examiners] was not required to review the software.” These claims are factually unsound. The software, although not communicating actual ballot information, facilitates communication between systems upon which votes are tabulated and stored. Although the software purports to not modify the tabulation system software, it is itself a modification to the whole tabulation system. This is why certification and testing is required in all cases.

Just as in 2004, the Ohio Secretary of State’s office has enabled the possibility of a “man in the middle” attack. This software, functioning on a network through which votes are transmitted could act to intercept, alter or destroy votes from counties where it is not even installed, hence the “man in the middle” nickname.

On September 19, the last minute contract between ES&S and the Ohio Secretary of State’s office was inked. Within a week, Seske wrote “He [Matt Masterson] has reviewed and approved the changes.” Masterson is the Deputy Director of Elections. After Masterson’s approval, Seske acted to bypass the Ohio Board of Voting Machine Examiners required review.

“Pursuant to the board’s policy, each change will be approved unless three members of the BVME request a meeting to review a change within 15 days of today’s date. Given the proximately of the upcoming election, please let me know as soon as possible whether you will be requesting a meeting to review the changes,” wrote Seske.

Government reports such as Ohio’s Everest study document that any single change to the system could corrupt the whole voting process.

An unelected, partisan group of attorneys appears to have conspired to install election software without testing and certification that they are professionally unqualified to pass judgment upon. These types of last minute installations of software patches on voting machines are considered suspect by knowledgeable and experienced election protection attorneys, in light of all the voting machine irregularities exposed during the 2004 election in Ohio.

********

Readers: All I can say is do your best in getting to the polls to vote. This is the single most important election where every vote is needed.

Cali: Fantastic.

Melle: Done. Thanks for posting.

Peace out.

Give Him 4 More Years

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 1st November 2012

Bookmark and Share

Good morning!

In 2008 Obama had lots of young and first time voters who voted for him. I remember the energy and the excitement like it was yesterday – it was contagious and so inspiring to be a part of. There was so much positivity and frankly many, at least in the Bay Area, were just sick of Bush and his administration, and desperately wanted change. So HOPE was high and the enthusiasm for change was at a peak.

That change and HOPE is still there as Dems shout “4 more years”. Not that Romney wouldn’t bring change – he certainly would. But you can forget HOPEing that the changes he makes will be in any positive way for the 99% and certainly not for that 47%, if he succeeds in winning the presidency.

So my focus on this election has been on the women and encouraging women to vote with the only candidate who gives a damn about us.  I’ve even expressed how women can say to their friends and family if need be, that they are for Romney. But then when once they are in that voting booth alone, to vote for Obama. Thankfully, the response from many of you was “Yes! That is what I am going to do”.

But as I mentioned in my opening, In 2008 Obama had lots of young and first time voters. I haven’t spoken much about them here, and I have read some conflicting articles. Quite a few say young voters are discouraged and they are not planning on voting, while others say that there is a surge above and beyond 2008 in early turnout among young voters.

I don’t know what the truth is. But, I can feel the different energy in the air. Perhaps it is because this election is so crucial, and many are feeling HOPEless. All I can say is if you voted for Obama in 2008, I am encouraging you to do the same on November 6th. The HOPE is still there…the changes are going to be big but you need to play your part and vote.

I posted a write a few days ago how Repubs stick with each other no matter what. We Dems need to do the same same. This is not the election to decide to pass on voting. Any dem not voting is a vote for the repubs. It’s the same same for any Indy. It’s as simple as that.

And, for those of you who voted for Obama in 2008 and somehow think Romney is going to have your back if he takes the white house, you couldn’t be more wrong. I can’t stress how bad off we would be as a country. We would certainly go backwards, and in my opinion, to a place that no one but the 1% wants to be.

Obama is the man for change – the change that you and me want. He is the only one who cares and inspires HOPE for all Americans, and is certainly the only one who truly cares about women. Give him 4 more years.

So if you are a young voter who voted for Obama in 2008 and are thinking of changing your vote to Romney, think again, study the facts, and stick with Obama, and vote dem all the way. If you are a young or first time voter don’t think that not voting won’t matter because it does. A no vote is handing your vote over to the repubs. Do what the repubs do - stick together, and vote dem no matter what.

Romney is an LSOS who will do and say anything to get your vote. Don’t do it.

Obama with coattails will do what he could never do before because he won’t have the party of no against every move he makes. This will be Obama’s last term so you know he will go balls out for the betterment of all.

HOPE for a better country is not enough – you must go to the polls and vote for Obama. Give him 4 more years.

That’s it for me today. What’s on your mind? Blog me.

Peace & Love

Are You A Diehard Democrat?

In other words, do you believe so strongly in Obama that you will stick with him no matter what?

Good morning!

I really like this article. It supports what I felt and wrote about Obama’s first debate. I was looking at “substance” over “style”. I did not throw Obama under the bus for a not so great “performance” on debate night, but praised him for what he has done for our country, for what he is planning on doing - and expressed my commitment and loyalty to his success.

What I didn’t talk about and didn’t really think about is what this article broaches. I think what the author states is very enlightening, informative, and something we should all think about.

How the Liberal Media Might Have Contributed to Obama’s Post-Debate Downfall

It’s always talked about but rarely examined, Republican reaction to a crisis and monumental disappointment versus Democratic reaction to the same. The difference was never on such wide-eyed display as in the past 2-3 weeks following the first two debates between the presidential contenders.

According to numerous polls, most people have decided that Mitt Romney won the first debate and President Obama came out on top in the second debate; but looking at the Democratic reaction to President Obama’s first debate and Republican reaction to Mitt Romney’s second debate is like looking at yourself in a fun house mirror. You look at yourself pre-mirror and you think you look tall, thin and beautiful until you step in front of the funhouse mirror and it tells you that you’re short, fat and your nose is big.

When President Obama whiffed on the first debate (and let’s be honest, it definitely was not his best showing) Liberals and Democrats (especially in the media) proceeded immediately to the nearest cliff and jumped off without so much as a net or a last cigarette. They screamed and yelled and lit their hair on fire! Watching post-debate analysis on MSNBC was like watching a rerun of Roseanne when one of her kids has done something really stupid and the only thing she feels she can do is scream at them until “she” feels better… not the kid, but her. The funny thing is that until the post-debate television commentary, I was reading the live blogs on several liberal leaning websites and none of them portrayed Obama as doing as badly as was described in the post-debate analysis. Some were commenting that Obama had some strong moments; some noted that he seemed to come alive at the end and some even called it a tie. But boy howdy, when the debate was over and the doors flung open… church was OUT! I honestly thought Ed Schultz and Chris Matthews were going to have a stroke! They ranted and raved and called Obama everything but a child of God. Andrew Sullivan of The Daily Beast wanted to put Obama in a basket and leave him on the doorstep of his creepiest neighbor. It seemed that all it took for Liberal America to fall out of love with Barack Obama was a bad debate. Hell, if Republicans only knew that they would have scheduled a debate for Obama in 2009.

In contrast, following the second debate (which most people think Mitt Romney lost) Republicans were downright defiant in their belief that Mitt Romney had lost the debate and even more assured that Obama was classless and ineffectual. They talked up Romney’s weak points and talked down Obama’s strong points. Wait a minute, talk up your candidate’s weak points and talk down their opponent’s strong points, oh wow, what a concept! Liberals are you taking notice? This is what you do when your candidate has a bad night. If you have hemorrhoids, you don’t kick your own self in the butt, you claim the other person is the one with hemorrhoids and kick their’s. Romney had a bad night and conservatives lit into Obama, Obama had a bad night and liberals lit into… Obama!

Now typically I would say that it’s not the media’s job to root for any one candidate over another, but since most in the media have thrown that baby out with the bath water a long time ago, why stop now? Even though most people claim that they cannot stand the media, it is still true that most people rely on the traditional media to get their news, especially political news.

The funny thing is that I purposely didn’t even watch the first debate so I received most of my “opinions” on the debate from the media and I believe that this is probably true for a lot of people. Just like many people (as has been proven) have no idea whatsoever what socialist and communist mean but they believe that Obama is one because that’s what their “heroes” in the media call him, I would bet my bottom dollar that many people who didn’t even watch that first debate formed their opinion of the candidates’ performances, and thus of the candidates, after hearing what the media said about it. Now you knew Obama would probably get drop-kicked post-debate by Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity but seeing him get face-planted by MSNBC, Ed Schultz and Chris Matthews had to throw a lot of people, including myself, into a confused frenzy. As much as poor Al Sharpton tried to defend Obama, he was shouted down at every point by the members of the so-called “liberal” media… imagine that!

How do I know this works? Because I too was extremely angry at Obama, not for losing the debate (which you will recall that most in media said he probably would anyway) but for appearing to not even care or try…and since I didn’t even see the debate, I formed that opinion listening to three days and nights of the liberal media ranting and raving about how Obama was useless and should be taken out and flogged!

What changed my mind on dumping President Obama was the fact that while Obama did not do his best in the first debate (which is an understatement… I have since watched the whole debate), the fact remains that the policies of these two men are still the same. One debate, however good or bad, does not change their views on taxes, wars, the economy, Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, healthcare, abortion, the Middle East, energy, climate change, the 1 percent, the 47 percent, foreign affairs or the Supreme Court! They are still the same men post-debate as they were pre-debate and anyone who decides on who they will vote for, not on issues or policies, but how someone performs in one 90 minute debate has bigger problems than they realize.

So for the Republicans and the Conservative media, GOOD JOB! You’ve done well grasshopper! One thing I have ALWAYS respected about Conservatives is that for good, bad or in-between, they will stick with their candidates like crazy glue and regardless of what they may say behind closed doors, out in public they are unified and they proved it in the past three weeks and I think the polls have rewarded them substantially! For Democrats and the liberal media, as usual they have proven once again that they are their own worst enemy. Things get bad and they immediately wet their pants, announce themselves defeated and light fire to the nearest Democratic politician! If these two parties were candy, Republicans would be the Jawbreakers, hard on the outside and even harder on the inside. Liberals would be the jelly beans, kind of hard on the outside but all jelly on the inside. Bite down hard on a Jawbreaker and you’ll lose some teeth, bite down hard on a jelly bean and you’ll reveal what’s inside… all gush!

My point? Conservatives, in the unity department, you’re fine! I’m actually jealous of your constant display of oneness. In fact, if it wasn’t for a lot of what you stand for, I’d happily be a Republican! You guys ROCK! Liberals, you need to get a grip!!! How do you expect for someone to stand up for you when you’re always waiting for the first sign of trouble to throw them under the nearest bus? Your unity is overwhelming… until the first sign of disappointment, then you’re ready to scram on the first Pan-Am!

OK, Obama sucked in the first debate but remember, regardless of who you’re voting for, the issues and the policies are what matters most, not who can do the 90 minute “you lie” marathon with the straightest face. Truth, integrity and trust is what really matters here and unless that is our first and foremost concern, then this country is in deeper trouble than any of us realize!

Respectfully,
Dee Evans

Readers: It is not the first time I have been envy of the repubs commitment to each other either. As much as I deplore their policies, their racism, and their lack of care for women and our rights, etc., we can certainly learn something from their undying commitment to each other.

Thoughts? Blog me.

Peace out.
