My Vagina, My Choices

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 31st July 2012

Bookmark and Share

Good morning!

I cannot express it enough: “STAY OUT OF MY VAGINA!”. No, no, no….I’m not talking to the lovers in my life :), I’m talking to those PTP LSOS republicans that can’t seem to mind their own business when it comes to womens’ VAGINAS.

And, please somebody tell me what is going on with some women in this country….because I am dumbfounded by the dumb women in this country who refuse to take control of their bodies, and the decisions made about their bodies, by handing the decision making over to a man.

Yes, I am talking to you women who do this – you know who you are.  If this election doesn’t inspire you to dump the repubs, your man, or anyone else who tries to control you, your body, I am afraid nothing will. And that, girls,  is a scary thing for all of us. But I refuse to give up HOPE that the dumb ones will come to their senses. Before election time please.

Here’s the latest on the PTP LSOS republicans trying to get into our pants, up our skirts, and whatever else they need to do to take control and change our vagina rights:

The Two Abortion Wars: A Highly Intrusive Federal Bill

House Republicans are preparing to push through restrictions on federal financing of abortions far more extreme than previously proposed at the federal level. Lawmakers who otherwise rail against big government have made it one of their highest priorities to take the decision about a legal medical procedure out of the hands of individuals and turn it over to the government.

Their primary bill —the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act” — is so broad that it could block insurance coverage for abortions for countless American women.

The anti-abortion forces almost derailed health care reform last year over whether people could buy policies that cover abortion on new insurance exchanges. The compromise embedded in the reform law sets up a hugely complicated plan to segregate an individual’s premium payments from the government subsidies. It is so burdensome that it seems likely to discourage insurers from offering any abortion coverage at all on the exchanges.

But anti-abortion lawmakers are not satisfied. The new bill, introduced by Christopher Smith, a New Jersey Republican, would bar outright the use of federal subsidies to buy any insurance that covers abortion well beyond the new exchanges.

The tax credits that are encouraging small businesses to provide insurance for their workers could not be used to buy policies that cover abortions. People with their own policies who have enough expenses to claim an income tax deduction could not deduct either the premiums for policies that cover abortion or the cost of an abortion. People who use tax-preferred savings accounts to pay medical costs could not use the money to pay for an abortion without paying taxes on it.

The only tax subsidy left untouched is the exclusion that allows workers whose premiums are subsidized by their employers to avoid paying taxes on the value of the subsidy. Many, if not most, employer-sponsored insurance plans cover abortions. There would have been a huge political battle if workers were suddenly told they had to pay taxes on the benefit or change their policies.

The Smith bill also would take certain restrictions on federal financing for abortions that now must be renewed every year and make them permanent. It would allow federal financing of abortions in cases of “forcible” rape but not statutory or coerced rape, and in cases where a woman is in danger of death from her pregnancy but not of other serious health damage. It would free states from having to provide abortions in such emergency cases.

A separate Republican bill would deny federal funds for family planning services to any organization that provides abortions. It is aimed primarily at Planned Parenthood’s hundreds of health centers, which also provide many other valuable services. No federal money is used for the abortions. This is a reckless effort to cripple an irreplaceable organization out of pure politics.

Romney: “LSOS”, “Twit”, “Mittastrophe”**…What Else?

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 28th July 2012

Bookmark and Share

Good morning!

This is a great comeback to Romney’s lies about what Obama really said about building a small business.

Jon Stewart Slams You-Didn’t-Build-That-Gate In Romney, Fox News’ Faces (VIDEO)

“You really want to hang your entire campaign on a willful, out-of-context misunderstanding?”

Yes… yes, he does.

If the 2012 election can be likened to a war, then each news cycle is a battle. Actually, that’s probably a terrible way to look at it, but that’s not stopping either campaign or their respective media mouthpieces. To wit, Jon Stewart took a look on Wednesday’s show at You Didn’t Build That-Gate, and how Romney and Fox News have milked Obama’s phrasing for all its tea-party-rousing worth.

Clearly, in his Virginia speech, President Obama was making a point about the way infrastructure supports business and the interconnectedness of the economy and government with personal success and hard work. But, you see, he accidentally said “that” at one point when he meant “those.” So release the hounds.

Jon Stewart doesn’t cotton to that, though: “Making a big deal out of a misstatement is a great way to win a news cycle… But this ain’t a gaffe and Mitt Romney’s not having a little fun with it. This deliberate misstating and misrepresentation of Obama’s position is now the centerpiece of Romney’s campaign.”

It’s almost like taking Romney’s “I like firing people” statement out of context and using it against him. (Although, one could argue that the phrase “I like firing people” is slightly less obscured by being taken out of context than “you didn’t build that.” After all, that could be anything: a road, a business, a sandcastle, a Death Star…)

But in case one doesn’t grasp the real problem with this kind of campaigning, Stewart underlines his point: “Mr. Romney, hanging your attack on a person’s slight grammatical misstep is what people do in an argument when they’re completely fucked and know they have no argument.”

Indeed. Watch the clip above and let us know if you think this kind of campaigning is going to pay off for Romney in the long run.

*L*S*O*S*

Readers: Romney has nothing else to run on except his lies. Can you think of any other names that describe this wannabe president?

Anonymous: Your comment cracked me a smile.

Zen Lill: Good description of the twit Mitt. This is the best that the PTP’s can do. Perhaps like, she who must not be named, twit will get a gig on FOX when this is all over. I see it in the stars  - that’s where all the LSOS’s eventually go.

Anne: I am always shocked when I see a comment from a woman in support of Romney, especially if you have been reading here. Now a man voting for him, I can understand, but a woman? I encourage you to really look at the choices you are making for yourself and your sisters.

Anonymous: Hahah! Great visual.

**Lisa: I don’t know if you coined “Mittastrophe” but I love it, and of course I had to use it. Thanks!

Connie: Nicely said.

George: I suspect you have a tiny dick.

Ooh that is a good place to end – That’s it for me. Your turn. Blog me.

NRA: Enabler Of Death

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 24th July 2012

Bookmark and Share

Good morning!

There has been a lot of talk about the “crazy” man that swept his way through the theater in Colorado killing many and injuring more. And of course my readers are very verbal as well.

I just have to speak my two here too, because the logic of the law escapes me. How is saying that you can buy any gun you want, but you cannot be allowed to buy an assault rifle, interfere with your 2nd Amendment rights? I think it is perfectly fine to want to own a gun.

I will quote Barbara because I like what she said: “Most of the rest of us support the right to bear arms, but reasonable arms, NOT weapons that are bought just for the purpose of killing a lot of people, or to support a small penis neurosis.” So yes, you might just want to buy a simple handgun to protect your family, with no thought whatsoever to buy an assault gun.  Okay, that’s reasonable. But why would you ever support the purchasing of a gun that is anything more? You may own a gun and not want to do what the killer in Colorado did, but there are people who want to and do, and we are supporting that by allowing these assault weapons to be sold.

I don’t know what goes through your mind but my mind says that you have to have the smallest dick in the world to want an assault rifle. And in my opinion, the smaller the dick the bigger the gun they want. (And yes, maybe even a huge truck to go along with, following that same path) They have to make up for it in some way, and that seems to be the chosen way for many who decide to buy such a weapon. Yeah that makes you a big man doesn’t it?  And don’t get me going about the women that go for this kind of man. I won’t go down that path. You know what I’m talking about. The logic just escapes me.

Let me take a side leap for a bit and then I’ll be back.

I think there should be a new title for the republican party: “The Paid To Play Party” – Simple, they are paid to play: The PTP PartyThe Politician’s hand is out saying, “Pay me and I’ll play like I am your politician.” Whatever they need to say, so that the people who pay them will be satisfied and all the stupid people will listen and go along, hoping to somehow get big enough…rich enough so they can pay politicians to play their game too. The promise is there, but as we know, they won’t ever make it.

So if the rich people want to have more money they pay for the politician to play the game that suits their needs, their interests…you know the things that brings them the big bucks.  Who cares what morals you speak…what you believe in. You are paid to play…to think and vote with the highest bidder who bought you. Just make sure that you can convince the stupid people to go along with you. And as you can see, many of our politicians do.

Now back to the movie massacre in Colorado.

You can call the guy “crazy”…you can say “he was motivated by the movie – let’s outlaw the movie”…”he would’ve found another way even if he didn’t buy the assault guns”. Or whatever else you want to say. Well, let him find another way, but don’t make it easy. We’re making it easy by not making these types of guns, these assault weapons illegal to buy.

Then to add to it, we find out that this killer is making bombs in his home. Okay then, we make it illegal to buy these kinds of things that make it easy to make these bombs.  It can’t goon how it is; we have to start eliminating something.

I mean really, why in the world do we have allow these types of guns and bomb making ingredients legal to purchase in the first place? Do we really need to have these available? Who needs a rifle with 6000 rounds of ammunition? Simple. No one except a killer. And he doesn’t even need an ID to buy it.

Look, the bottom line is, it doesn’t matter if the guy was crazy, upset, or whatever. And we certainly don’t need a shrink to tell us why the guy did it. Who cares what reason he had to do it,  or how crazy he is. He did it because we allowed him to buy assault weapons so that he could carry through with his plan. Take away that ability and you take away the opportunity.

If he couldn’t buy the guns in the first place he wouldn’t be able to do what he did. Why is that so hard to understand? No other arguement matters. If it was against the law for this killer to buy these kind of assault weapons, he wouldn’t  be able to shoot anybody because he wouldn’t have been able to buy them. Now as it stands, he can buy it on the internet, without a background check, and without an ID.

The lack of an ID to purchase a gun makes me think. We’re coming up on what I feel is going to be the most important election to date. So…think about this fact: It is easier to buy an assault rifle than it is to vote. How inane is that? You have to have more identification just to exercise your right to vote. But no ID to go out and buy an assault weapon.(!)

Thank you NRA. Is the NRA a group that is for the people, or are they for the group that are making and selling the guns? It’s obvious who they support. And yes, it is obvious that the PTP Party are bought by the NRA, because really, the solution to resolve this issue is simple. The PTP Party knows the solution, but they don’t want that solution, because that solution is against what they want to do politically, against what they are getting paid to play,  to advance, what they are paid to do politically.

So they lie about the solution. The solution is simple: Make it illegal to sell these types of weapons. But no, their thought is “Let’s ignore the real solution and let’s pretend there is something else we can do”. The PTP Party are LSOS’s.

I’m done. I like what Moyers has to say:

Bill Moyers: NRA ‘Enabler Of Death’ (VIDEO)

PBS’ Bill Moyers had blistering words for the National Rifle Association in the wake of the deadly shootings in Colorado.

Moyers placed partial blame for the murders in the NRA’s lap in a web video posted over the weekend, calling it “the best friend a killer’s instinct ever had.”

He said that the lobbying of the NRA had made it easier for people like James Holmes, the alleged killer in the Colorado shootings, to obtain their weapons.

“Every year there are 30,000 gun deaths and 300,000 gun-related assaults in the U.S.,” he said. “Firearm violence may cost our country as much as $100 billion a year. Toys are regulated with greater care and safety concerns than guns … we have become so gun loving, so blasé about home-grown violence that in my lifetime alone, far more Americans have been casualties of domestic gunfire than have died in all our wars combined.”

He finished by calling the NRA “the enabler of death — paranoid, delusional, and as venomous as a scorpion.”

Though they did not express themselves with quite his vehemence, Moyers is one of several to call for stricter gun control laws in the days after the shootings.

A Look At The History Of Health Care Individual Mandate

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 25th June 2012

Bookmark and Share

Good morning!

I realize I am going to be posting late this morning. What can I say, I slept late. I really needed it.

This clip was from The Rachel Maddow Show a few days ago. I am just now watching it. And after watching it, it proves the point that has been said over and over again: ABO - Anybody but Obama. The republicans have been clear on this point…clear that defeating Obama, even at the expense of our country…even at the expense of the lives of the American people, is their main goal.

Will 30 million Americans receive health care in 2014? This week the Supreme Court is expected to rule on whether the health care individual mandate, the portion in the health care law that requires that every individual who can afford it, to either have health insurance or pay a small fine, is constitutional.

What will the court rule? The odds don’t look good. I’m not surprised at this since we all know SCOTUS is BAPF, and 5 of the appointed justices voting against the law, are republicans.  But wait a minute don’t the republicans want a health care mandate?  Wha’at? No No No. They are against Obama and everything he stands for. Surely they don’t support him in his health care mandate. They’ve been very verbal about how against it they are.

But they weren’t always against an individual mandate – The republicans first came up with an individual mandate back in the 1990′s, and supported it all through the 2000′s. Yep, it’s true.

Barbara Espinosa’s Racist Remarks

Good morning!

The blog comments finally came in and it looks like one certain topic is on everyone’s mind. It’s on my mind too.

I found this write to be the best stated, thanks to :

‘I call him a monkey,’ says radio host Barbara Espinosa

Barbara Espinosa is a lady who hosts a radio show on KFNX in Phoenix, Arizona, and if you haven’t heard the clip of her as she purposely disrespected the President of the United States Barack Obama during an exchange with a caller, this is your lucky day.

Espinosa was talking to a caller who was referring to President Obama as ‘rabbit ears,’ when she decided to up the ante by attacking Obama’s race as she said: “I call him a monkey! I don’t call him the first Black president. I call him a monkey! I voted for the White guy!”

But, President Bush 43 is a White guy too, and how did that work out for the country? So in case you’re wondering, Espinosa is part of a programming line up out in Arizona with people like Laura Ingraham, Neal Boortz, and other right-wingers, and after hearing this Espinosa character it is clear to me that there is nothing worse than old ignorance, because you can’t be old and ignorant without a lot of repetitively embraced practice.

And, I don’t want to hear anymore about this post-racial society crap either. This society is about as post-racial as Fox News is post-biased, because you can’t be that unbelievably numbing with just plain, old facts, and an audience full of willingly, happily bought-in people like Barbara Espinosa is just what the conservative, Fox News, propaganda doctor ordered.

Propaganda is propaganda regardless of the content, so it should be no surprise that old adages like black monkeys, coons, and the inevitable, forthcoming slippage of the N-word will continue to re-emerge and surround the legitimacy of this president, as long as he is the president. From Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner complaining about Michelle Obama’s rather ‘large posterior,’ to Glenn Beck unrelentingly mocking and berating Malia Obama with a hideous impersonation of her before he overtly criticizes the educational level of both of President Obama’s daughters, to the infamous photo of the Obama family being depicted as a family of apes, the dehumanizing, propaganda machine has been in full swing.

Whether it’s Espinosa’s propaganda or the Tea Party’spropaganda, the overwhelming agenda is White supremacy, and the overwhelming, non-White thorn in the side of this institutionalized ideology is President Obama’s constitutionally elected ability to sit his Black ass down in the White House!

And however you put it, it’s just very difficult to justify the ideology of White supremacy within the reality of a Black president, and this is where the Black monkey/King Kong stealing away the good, innocent, White woman undertone comes into play through the age-old, Jim Crow fantasies of Blacks being the offspring of Charles Darwin’s monkeys, while Whites are legitimately put on this Earth by a WhiteGod!

So in essence, when some bigot who just happens to be White calls an African-American a monkey or a baboon, they are saying just as much about their staunch beliefs regarding White origins as they are about Black origins, and Barbara Espinoza knows this all too well. That’s why she made the monkey comments, and she was not just talking to President Obama. She was talking to me, to you, to anyone with a Black face, and to anyone who supports someone with a Black face—hence her statement: ‘I voted for the White guy!’

This is not just about defending the president. This is about no longer accepting racist spit in our ethnic eyes. Now when these Espinosa types call President Obama a Kenyan, it doesn’t have to mean they’re calling me a Kenyan. And when his critics believe that his ideas suck, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are saying that my ideas suck. But when they call him a monkey or the N-word, they are definitely passing it on to me as well, and this is when it becomes my fight, and this is when it goes far beyond the politics!

So when proud conservatives, along with a significant number of cowardly liberals and Blue Dog Democrats wag their yellow tails to express their desires that the president chooses not to respond or that I choose not to respond to this kind of monkey business is the equivalent of telling a modern day Rosa Parks to stay on the back of the bus and don’t challenge the system. But, when a system of oppression is vehemently despised yet still unopposed, that is the essence of true slavery.

Barbara Espinosa is just a wannabe, talk radio, big shot who was only able to garner her 15 minutes of fame by putting on an ideological, Ku Klux Klan hat and burning an ideological cross on the radio, and she should be bounced out of KFNX and off of the air quicker than Jimmy ‘The Greek’ Snyder was bounced off of CBS for his inappropriate comments about Blacks, which sound very tame compared to the monkey comments made by Espinosa. Nevertheless when and if she is fired, she’ll probably be offered a job on Fox News &Friends, or she could be offered a position with Glenn Beck. He just signed a radio contract for $100 million. He can afford it.

But remember this conservatives and right-wingers. If the president’s polices are truly as unsightly as they’ve been made out to be, you shouldn’t have to resort to burning ideological crosses on the radio to convince people of it.

*******

Readers: And typical of republicans, they spout off disgusting, racist remarks from lips that can’t seem to stop flapping, and then come back with an disingenuous apology, said only to CTA (cover their ass).  Barbara Espinosa is pretty much the same same.

Barbara Espinosa: The beauty and benefit that we have from freedom of speech is that we say what we mean because we can. The good news is we don’t have to hold back – we can say what we naturally want to say…what we feel, right off the top of our heads. No censoring necessary. That is also the bad news. And by the way, know that I don’t buy your apologetic lie.

Happy Summer! Peace out.
