Good morning!

Think Obama is happy about the SCOTUS ruling? You’ve got to see this to experience just how happy he is. This is priceless!

Readers: Don’t ya love it? I bet Michelle’s thinking, “Lay those moves on me baby!” I know I would be. And if you watched a little bit further (3:09), there was a nod to our alien friends as well.

Nicole: Yes, because if people really did think about others and their struggles to pay their medial bills, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

Scott: I missed it – How was it?

Robert, rt: I wanted to say more yesterday but I had no access to my blog either. And when I did I was @ Peet’s on my playbook. I was about to post when I saw your comment, so I tried to add more to my write, which was almost impossible.

I wanted to add that whatever it was that you did to stand up and defend yourself, I just have to say that I wish that there weren’t any reason for one to have to defend themselves these days. But we all know that racism is alive and prevalent. And from what we read here, you are not one to just sit back and take it. It is one thing that I admire about you.

I understand we may not see much of you here anymore. Know that whatever you are able to contribute will be appreciated – know that you are a reason many tune in, including me,  to read your insightful comments and illuminating truths. I HOPE that you are safe and well –  I’m sending you my best. I am sure your friend thinks nothing less of you, understands, and wishes you the same and more.

Kelly: I believe that you are so right. When people are against it, it is “Obamacare”, but one it gets widely accepted and people are grateful that we have it, they will in no way want to give him credit. Sick but true.

Vincent: I am delighted that you have come to your senses. Now…time to work on the family putting aside their bigoted beliefs and get on the “Obamaboard”.

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Thank you for making me laugh about LOVE and for inspiring the HOPE of LOVE

Good morning!

I don’t know about you, but “When Harry Met Sally” was a fave movie of mine. of course we all remember the famous “restaurant scene”. It was a good movie to cuddle up to and one that inspired lots of emotions. And yes, I did enjoy “Sleepless…” – You’ve Got mail” was more of the same same. Certainly movies that moved the heart. I don’t believe I am a HOPEless romantic, (well…maybe just a little :) but yes, I do love the art of romance and feelings of deep passionate love. Does anyone not?

“Julie and Julia” was another one that inspired laughs in a fun and unique way. Although Ephron’s works of art will certainly be watched over and over again in the coming years,  we will certainly miss her and all of her writes that had yet to be birthed.

Thank you Nora Ephron for your movies that made me smile and laugh about love, and gave me HOPE that there is a man out there…one whom if I fall deeply in love with…will perhaps yes, potentially fall deeply in love with me as well.

May you rest in peace.

Writer and director Nora Ephron dies at 71: Film icon behind When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle loses her battle with leukemia

Nora Ephron, the writer of iconic movies When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail, has died at the age of 71.

The author and screenwriter had fought a six-year battle with leukemia and finally succumbed to the disease. Ephron’s son Jacob Bernstein confirmed her death in Manhattan yesterday.

She earned three Oscar nominations for her screenwriting and her work was among the most quotable and influential of her generation.

Scroll down for highlights from Nora’s films:

Her book publisher Alfred A Knopf also confirmed her death in a statement as fellow writers and the acting community reacted with shock.

‘I am very sad to learn of Nora’s passing,’ When Harry Met Sally star Billy Crystal said in a statement. ‘She was a brilliant writer and humorist. Being her Harry to Meg’s Sally will always have a special place in my heart. I was very lucky to get to say her words.’

Tom Hanks, who starred in Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail, also paid tribute, saying: ‘Nora Ephron was a journalist/artist who knew what was important to know; how things really worked, what was worthwhile, who was fascinating and why.

Bewitched star Nicole Kidman said: ‘She was so smart, warm and funny. I am so grateful that she was my friend and we had the opportunity to work together.

Meryl Streep, who starred in two Ephron classics, Heartburn and 2009′s Julie & Julia, wrote to the New York Times: ‘Nora just looked at every situation and cocked her head and thought, ‘Hmmmm, how can I make this more fun?’ . . . You could call on her for anything: doctors, restaurants, recipes, speeches, or just a few jokes, and we all did it, constantly. She was an expert in all the departments of living well.’

Earlier today newspaper columnist Liz Smith broke the story in a wowOwow article that eulogized the scriptwriter, saying her family including her husband of 20 years, the writer Nicholas Pileggi, had already planned her funeral.

NORA EPHRON’S FINEST LINES

Harry Burns: You know, you may be the first attractive woman I’ve not wanted to sleep with in my entire life.
Sally Albright: That’s wonderful, Harry.

When Harry Met Sally

All I’m saying is that somewhere out there is the man you are supposed to marry. And if you don’t get him first, somebody else will, and you’ll have to spend the rest of your life knowing that somebody else is married to your husband.

                  Dennis Reed, Sleepless in Seattle

Well, it was a million tiny little things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were supposed to be together… and I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home.

Sam Baldwin, Sleepless In Seattle

‘I won’t say, “Rest in peace, Nora” – I will ask, “What the hell will we do without you?”‘ Smith wrote. The column, which was written as if Ephron had already died, was later removed from the site.

Ephron was born on May 19, 1941 in New York City. At the age of four, she moved to Beverly Hills with her screenwriting parents Henry and Phoebe and three younger sisters.

Determined by high school to be a journalist, Ephron graduated from the single sex Wellesley College in 1962, moved to New York and started out as a fact checker at Newsweek.

She moved to the New York Post andremained there five years. Ephron soon began writing for Esquire and The New York Times and developed a national following with her articles.

She covered political conventions, the feminist movement and Wellesley, which she labeled a factory for ‘docile’ women.

She married in 1976 to Carl Bernstein, who teamed with reporter Bob Woodward on prize-winning coverage of the Watergate scandal that brought down President Nixon.

The couple had two children. Ephron was pregnant with her second child when she learned Bernstein was having an affair with a mutual friend Margaret Jay, who was married to the British ambassador to the U.S.

The marriage crumbled but it inspired Ephron’s book Heartburn which was so close to her life that Bernstein threatened to sue.

It was later adapted for screen and starred Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep. The Oscar-winning actress teamed up with Ephron again in 2009 to star in Julia & Julia.

Ephron’s talent for bringing to life flawed but deeply likeable and funny women made her beloved by movie audiences – and industry gold.

One of her greatest successes was When Harry Met Sally, the 1989 romantic comedy starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, about two friends who fall in love despite their own misgivings that the ‘sex part always gets in the way’.

The film struck a chord with audiences for its quirky dialogue, sharp wit and more rounded portrayal of female leads.

TRIBUTES TO NORA

Billy Crystal: ‘I am very sad to learn of Nora’s passing. She was a brilliant writer and humorist. Being her Harry to Meg’s Sally will always have a special place in my heart. I was very lucky to get to say her words.’

Tom Hanks: ‘Nora Ephron was a journalist/artist who knew what was important to know; how things really worked, what was worthwhile, who was fascinating and why . . . Nicole Kidman: ‘She was so smart, warm and funny. I am so grateful that she was my friend and we had the opportunity to work together. My thoughts and love are with her family at this time. I will never forget the dinners, games and laughter we all share.’

Meryl Streep: ‘Nora just looked at every situation and cocked her head and thought, ‘Hmmmm, how can I make this more fun?’ . . . You could call on her for anything: doctors, restaurants, recipes, speeches, or just a few jokes, and we all did it, constantly. She was an expert in all the departments of living well.’

Kirstie Alley: ‘”You can settle for reality, or you can go off, like a fool, and dream another dream.” ? Nora Ephron. Oh Jeez… you will be missed..RIP XO’

Kerry Washington: ‘My heart aches. Nora Ephron. What a tremendous loss. RIP.’

Shonda Rhimes, writer and director of Grey’s Anatomy, quoted Ephron herself, posting: ”’I try to write parts for women that are as complicated and interesting as women actually are.” – Nora Ephron.’

As a rare woman to write, direct and produce Hollywood movies, Meg Ryan was among the many actresses who said they loved working with Ephron because she understood them so much better than male peers.

Following When Harry Met Sally, she wrote and directed the equally successful Sleepless in Seattle, pairing Meg Ryan with Tom Hanks followed by You’ve Got Mail, also starring Ryan and Hanks.

When Harry Met Sally earned an Academy Award nomination for its screenplay in 1990 and then four years later, Ephron was nominated again for Sleepless in Seattle.

Ephron was married three times: to Dan Greenberg, Bernstein and, quite happily, to Nicholas Pileggi whose books inspired Martin Scorcese’s films Goodfellas and Casino.

She is survived by her husband, two sons Max and Jacob, along with sisters Delia, Amy and Hallie Ephron, all of whom are writers.

In her essay, The O Word, Nora Ephron anticipated growing too old to make jokes about her age.

She would be ‘really old’, beyond sex in a hotel room, or even a frozen custard at Shake Shack.

It would be nice if she believed in a higher being, but the phrase ‘everything happens for a reason’ is a sermon that only annoyed her.

Ephron wrote of summers in the Hamptons when her children were little, of fireworks on the Fourth of July and picnics on the beach.

She loved the sound of geese in mid-July – ‘one of the things that made the summers out there so magical’. As she aged, the geese reminded her that summer will end, and so will everything else.

‘I especially began to hate their sound, which was not beating wings – how could I have ever thought it was? – but a lot of uneuphonious honks,’ she wrote.

‘Now we don’t go to Long Island in the summer and I don’t hear the geese. Sometimes, instead, we go to Los Angeles, where there are hummingbirds, and I love to watch them because they’re so busy getting the most out of life.’

Wonderful Women Of The World

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 23rd June 2012

Bookmark and Share

Good morning!

Okay, so I’m going to be blogging about Eve Ensler again. I know…I know…I have already honored her as a Wonderful Woman of the World. But this girl deserves to be recognized again and again for her efforts and support of all women around the globe.

Ensler’s newest venture? “Emotional Creature” based on her book, “I am an Emotional Creature: The Secret Life Of Girls Around The World”. The focus is on what Ensler calls your “girl cell” – embracing your inner girl. She declares that there is a “girl cell” in all of us – yes men too – a cell that we have all been taught to suppress.

Here’s a TED talk Ensler did a few years ago talking passionately about the “girl cell”:

After successful workshops in Johannesburg and Paris (Ruth did you and the girls see?), Ensler’s world premier is right here in my backyard, at the Berkeley Rep. Aren’t we lucky!

Berkeley Rep is proud to present the world premiere of a powerful new play from Tony Award–winner Eve Ensler. Staged by Obie Award–winning director Jo Bonney and performed by a talented ensemble of young women, Emotional Creature is made up of a original monologues and irresistable songs about and for girls. Placing their stories squarely center stage, it gives full expression to their secret voices and innermost thoughts, highlighting the diversity and commonality of the issues they face.

The show started a few days ago and runs through July 15th. This is a show you do not want to miss. I certainly won’t.

And just in case you want to read more, here’s a write up from our local newspaper:

Eve Ensler fires up the ‘girl cell’ in ‘Creature’

Eve Ensler 3.jpg The cast of Eve Ensler's world-premiere show "Emotional Creature" at Berkeley Rep includes (from row from left) Ashley Bryant and Sade Namei, (back row from left) Emily S. Your “girl cell” may need some charging, andEve Ensler is here to help you.

The celebrated author, activist and performer is probably most famous for making the world a safer place for the word “vagina” through her phenomenally successful show “The Vagina Monologues.” Now she’s back with a new show, and it’s all about the girl cell in everyone – men and women.

“We are living in a world that is so bifurcated,” Ensler says. “We don’t trust the heart, we don’t trust the head. Ninety percent of the world is in great hardship, there’s too much violence to women, and it’s time to come to a new place. This new place requires that part of ourselves that is passionate and compassionate, intuitive and emotional. And revolutionary. That part of us is what I call the girl cell. It’s the capacity to be more than we think we are and the ability to connect to others beyond ourselves.”

The new show, “Emotional Creature,” has its world premiere at Berkeley Repertory Theatre and is inspired by Ensler’s best-selling 2010 book “I Am an Emotional Creature: The Secret Life of Girls Around the World.” This time around, Ensler is not the one onstage. Jo Bonney directs six young women delivering original monologues and performing music by Charl-Johan Lingenfelder and choreography by Luam.

The show arrives in the Bay Area after successful workshops in Johannesburg and Paris, and Ensler says the decision to include music and dance happened organically.

“We met Charl in South Africa, and he’s so brilliant and talented,” she says on the phone from Berkeley before heading into a rehearsal. “It just reflects the way girls communicate, to go from spoken word to conversation to song to dance. This is my first time writing songs, and it’s so much fun. To turn words into music is thrilling, and the melodies express emotion in a way that’s new for me. In my dreams I’ve always wanted to be a rock ‘n’ roll singer. This is the closest I will ever get.”

Ensler’s “Vagina Monologues” was a huge hit in San Francisco, running for months in 2001 and 2002 with various shorter reprises over the years. “I always knew the Bay Area was vagina friendly,” Ensler says with a laugh. She laughs a lot in conversation. On this day, perhaps her good mood is heightened because it’s her 59th birthday. Or it could be, as she puts it, her “gratitude for being alive.”

Her short haircut is the only visible evidence of her battle with cancer, which she says was gruesome, and physically and emotionally the most challenging thing she’s been through.

“It’s so true that when you face mortality, everything is more precious,” Ensler says. “It’s like the end of ‘Our Town.’ Let’s recognize life while we’re living it. We need to live our lives more consciously. Wow, look at that gorgeous fabric. Look at that beautiful sky. It’s all because you realize life is so perishable and how easily you could not be here. You move toward what matters because there’s not time for petty things. I hope everyone doesn’t have to go to the edge of death to open their hearts like this. I think art can take you there.”

A catalyst for change wherever she goes, Ensler says she keeps coming back to theater as a primary medium for her message because when it works, there’s nothing more powerful. Through “The Vagina Monologues” and V-Day events worldwide, Ensler estimates that she has helped raise more than $80 million to prevent violence against women since 1996.

“Theater is so present,” she says. “It’s a collaboration between audience and performers, happening right there, and that’s a provocative, dangerous thing. I saw this happen over and over with ‘Vagina Monologues.’ This alchemy happens in the theater, and the show enters people’s bodies, and it changes you. Something changes. You’re inspired and driven to be more than yourself, to be your real self. I don’t know anyplace that has the power of the theater.”

Ensler sees humanity heading in one of two directions at this moment: one where the human race evolves and flourishes, and one – this is the direction she sees us heading now – where we destroy the planet.

“I want girl energy to spread around the world,” Ensler says. “That girl cell must be powerful if we’re all told to ignore it, to suppress it, to change it. But if we tap into that part of ourselves, the more loving, the more resisting, the more compassionate, the more heart-opening part, we have the capacity to create compassionate revolution. We can be fierce and loving at the same time. We need to be.”

Emotional Creature: By Eve Ensler. Directed by Jo Bonney. In previews. Opens Friday. Through July 15. Berkeley Repertory Theatre’s Roda Theatre, 2015 Addison St., Berkeley. $14.50-$73 (subject to change). (510) 647-2949.www.berkeleyrep.org.

Readers: Here’s to trusting our hearts and our heads, and to being more passionate and compassionate and embracing that “girl cell” in all of us.

Hey ZL: Well, I didn’t expect the monitor to be violent toward the kids, as yes, she probably would get fired. But I am glad that she began to stick up for herself against those horrible kids. Have a great weekend!

That goes for all my readers too! Gay Pride is this weekend – Have fun and be safe for all of you participating in the festivities!

xoxo

Mr. Soprano Goes To The Theater

Good morning!

I usually reserve most saturdays for Wonderful Women of The World, but sometimes not and I just post what comes across my plate that I find interesting, inspiring, funny, whatever. This morning this write caught my eye:

Don’t Bring Your iPad to Once the Musical

The marquee out front said that this was the show with the most Tony nominations. Inside, the place was buzzing. There was a pub onstage full of musicians playing Irish folk ditties; people were finding their seats, drinking pints out of plastic thermoses; ice and drinks were spilled in the aisles. It was exciting. I’d never seen the film the show is based on, but I knew people, smart people, who had seen the show three times.

We — it wasn’t Nana; she’s still stuck in London, though she would have adored this play, because she’s a big music lover — slowly squeezed by a couple of elderly ladies, and then a lady even the elderly ladies would have called elderly, and plopped into our seats as the last pre-show song was winding down. Then things got a little confusing. Because there was no formal announcement about turning off cell phones like usual, it was difficult to tell when the pre-show ended and the play started. I could hear the ushers telling people to shut off their electronic devices, but it sounded like a faint plea. It showed me how the normal announcements serve the additional function of signaling the start of the show, like “fasten your seatbelts” on an airplane. An elderly musician kicked up a solo on stage and the audience started to quiet, but the lights still weren’t lowered, which, I assume, is why the middle-aged man to my right didn’t turn off his iPad. I guess he thought he was at a real concert, because he raised his large screen and started taking pictures of the performers. I was sitting at his side and the light from his screen was distracting, but I’m sure it was flat-out disruptive for the people behind him.

Sure enough, someone complained, but all I could hear was my neighbor say — think Tony Soprano gruff — “Yeah, I’ll turn it off in a minute.” That wasn’t fast enough for whoever was behind us. I heard, “No, now,” and then I guess he touched Mr. Soprano, because Tony went berserk.

“Don’t you fucking touch me. I will destroy you. I will kill you. You touch me again, I will kill you.” The play was in full swing even though the lights weren’t down, and most people, including my guest, were unaware of the fight about to break out. I looked back at the offending toucher — he was a mild-mannered Joe whose theater experience was about to be ruined. Tony Soprano was acting like a jackass at a baseball game fighting over a fly ball, except here he was surrounded by gray-hairs and tourists. He kept on going.

“You touch me again, you’ll walk home with a bloody stump, know what I’m sayin’?” Mild Joe smartly didn’t answer because Tony’s temperature was going through the roof. Then Tony stood up and turned back to threaten the guy, but his wife yanked him back down, as if she’d done it a thousand times before. What were they going to do, duke it out in the theater? I thought about calling security, but then I realized they probably don’t have security because no one fights at the fucking theater.

Finally the lights darkened and Tony Soprano tried to cool down. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him reach for his wife’s hand and get rejected. He drank from his thermos and took up too much of our shared armrest. I huddled closer to my guest and tried to lose myself in the show. Like I said, I’d never seen the film, but after the play, I ordered a pizza and watched it. It’s funny to think that the play production probably cost ten times as much as the film, which was famously made for a penny and shot on video. Normally we think that Hollywood takes the humble material from the theater and blows it up into a spectacle, but here it was the opposite. Songs that in the movie were performed in intimate spaces like a music shop or a quiet street at night are now numbers performed for a whole theater. The purposely simple love story is well served by the limited number of sets on stage, and the music elevates the material so that it gets at something essential and euphoric about being creative and in love. It’s funny, but somehow the Irish can get away with material that would seem sappy if anyone else did it. The accents and location make any subject seem alternately deep, funny, and beautiful.

There is a moment in the first act of the play where a woman suggests killing a rival for another man’s girlfriend. The moment is played for laughs, but I could feel it land on my neighbor. We were laughing at the obvious absurdity of a comment he had just said in earnest. Later, the goofy comic-relief character, a bald man with a beard who pretends to know karate, threatens the protagonist, and again it is played for laughs. Tony Soprano didn’t move a muscle, which told me he knew how silly he had been. Finally, after five or six of the fluid melodies had lulled the audience into a pleasant and attuned calm, I saw Tony Soprano reach for his wife’s hand one more time. He made a gesture that said, “What, I know I fucked up, can I please hold your hand?” And yes, she grudgingly took it. The love story had brought them back together.

At intermission I wasn’t sure if he was going to confront mild-mannered Joe, but he stayed in his seat and pointedly didn’t look around. The bar on stage became a real bar and patrons could buy refreshments. Tony Soprano took out his iPad and logged onto Facebook. Thank God he put it away for Act Two.

Wonderful Women Of The World

Good morning!

So how is everyone doing? It’s Wednesday and I thought not only will I recognize a Wonderful Woman Of The World (WWOTW), but a little humor to start off my morning (for some of you it will be early afternoon, but hey, any time of the day is a good time to laugh), was in order.

I am a big fan of Hillary Clinton. More so now as the years have gone by and I have witnessed her growing badass attitude – and I mean that all in a good way. Don’t you just love how she has come into her power? I am cheering her for all of her accomplishments and all that she does for women around the world.

Today while perusing the net, I came upon this write on the Huff Po that just made my morning a bit brighter, not to mention “LOLZ”:

Hillary Clinton Thanks ‘Texts From Hillary’ Guys For The ‘LOLZ’

WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton took a few minutes away from her texting (and all her other duties as secretary of state) and met with the two guys who have turned her into the latest Internet meme.

In less than a week, the blog “Texts from Hillary” has become an online sensation, boosting Clinton’s public image in the process. As Benjy Sarlin of TPM wrote, “When she was running for the Democratic presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton was parodied as drab and calculated, especially compared with young and vigorous Barack Obama and winking and fresh-faced Sarah Palin. Now, she’s fueling Internet jokes based on her own brand of badass cool.”

Stacy Lambe and Adam Smith, the two guys behind the site, said they received an email from a member of Clinton’s staff on Monday afternoon, out of the blue.

“We didn’t even believe it at first,” said Smith. “Stacy and I IMed each other at the same time, basically saying, ‘Oh my god, this email!’”

The staffer invited them over to the State Department, saying the secretary loved the site and wanted to meet them. Her staff also submitted Clinton’s own idea for a post to the site, which went up on Tuesday. In it, Clinton calls out Smith and Lambe for their creation (and makes a scrunchie joke).

Smith said that the submission was from Clinton herself — although she may have had some help on it — and that they talked about it with her at the meeting. She told them that her favorite post was the one with Ryan Gosling.

“Her staff is a delight,” said Lambe. “Everybody was really nice and really excited about what’s happened over the past few days. Of course, Hillary Clinton thought it was hilarious and had a good laugh and was very nice and welcome — and very generous to take a few minutes of her time to take some photos with us.”

In fact, Clinton suggested that the three of them pose in the photos with their blackberries, checking their text messages. She even whipped out her famous sunglasses.

“I would just say that her meeting with us proves the point that we were trying to make with the site,” said Smith.

Clinton also gave each of them signed copies of her “Texts from Hillary” submission.

Smith’s signed copy, on which Clinton signed her name “Hillz”:

Readers: If I haven’t said it here before, I will say it again, “Hillary Clinton is definitely a WWOTW. And no doubt, “Hillz” in my mind, has all the attributes of being considered a “Girlz“.

Zen Lill: Sorry, I don’t have it the original e-mail anymore. But I give you permission to drag the photo off of my blog if you want to repost it.

Rufus: My thoughts exactly. Well…not exactly but the scenario and end result is the same. Hit ‘em where it hurts. And it hurts when the laws they fought to put in action, fights back at their own.

Kenny: I liked your rant.

Oscar: Like I said, “Hit ‘em where it hurts”.

Erica, Nancy: I have something to say with respect to your comments. I am not saying that Oscar or any other OTW should go out and look for trouble, or target whites racially, just so they can kill at will And I am not speaking for Oscar, but I don’t think Oscar is thinking that way either.

But I also think that if human beings really did resolve their issues with non violence first and foremost before resorting to violence, we wouldn’t be living in such a violent world, and a insane law such as “Stand Your Ground”, basically a “license to kill”, wouldn’t have been legislated in the first place.

It’s a nice thought, and I agree with you, if we all thought the same, but unfortunately many people don’t.  So tell that to all of the racists out there who can’t see past the color of an OTW’s skin. Trayvon was asking why he was being followed, begging for his life, and Zimmerman hunted him down like animal after his prey, and shot him dead.

There was no issue to resolve – at least not one that could be resolved. The issue was, the boy was black. Period. Not something that could be resolved. Trayvon can’t change the color of his skin. The fact is:  ”You are black, I don’t like you; I want you dead”.

So yes, I repeat, it is a nice thought but tell that to all of the families of the black boys and men who get killed, and no jUStice is done.

Violence isn’t the best answer and not one that I promote to resolve an issue. But when it comes to a matter of saving your life, and the other person doesn’t see you as an equal human being, and threatens you, sometimes violence is the only answer. And you had better be prepared and protect yourself just in case you are in such a situation, where there is no “resolving of issues in a nice way”…or you might end up dead.

In my opinion, unless OTW’s “stand their ground” and do something, this insanity will continue and people like Zimmeman are going to walk away scott free, while black boys lay dead in the streets, soon to be forgotten like the many.

I wrote this a few weeks ago and I still stand by my words:

I wish that Trayvon Martin’s murder was the last of these heinous crimes against young black boys and really any OTW, but it would only be HOPEful thinking, because I so strongly want things to change…for Trayvon’s murder to be a reminder of all the murders of black boys such as Trayvon that have come before him, and the impetus to stop the murders of black boys in the future.

Hmm..It makes me think. If I were an OTW who lived in “stand your ground” states, I would go get myself a gun. And if anyone got in my face, and threatened me in my space calling me a nigger, wetback, (what are those other names you use George, WN?) while invading my legal non-retreating space, I would “stand my ground”, pull out my gun and shoot. And if I  killed the offender, he would not be there to answer otherwise. But I would only do it if I felt threatened. I would not break the law and do it just because I didn’t like white folks. Of course, we all know, if enough white people got killed, the law would change in the proverbial hot minute. Then and only then.

“See Jane notice all of the Senators running down to the legislative house to change that law.”

Well, I wanted to keep it light and humorous but I just had to say something.  I’m done – your turn.  Oops I see many of you blogged this morning already.  I guess I better post asap. :) Blog me.

Robert, RT: Miss seeing you here – wha’at’s up?
