Just Noticing: “Observations of a Blogger”

This is priceless. Ana Navarro is just awesome. I couldn’t have said it better.

CNN Panel Devolves Into Shouting Match About ‘P***y’

“Don’t tell me you’re offended when I say ‘pussy,’ but you’re not offended when Donald Trump says it!”

57f87de21b0000e218ef578c

Nobody tells Ana Navarro she can’t talk about vajayjays. Nobody.

WASHINGTON ― Well? What’s left to do in this presidential campaign except shout about women’s hoohas?

Ana Navarro, a Republican CNN contributor, went ahead and took care of that early Saturday. Hours after a bombshell video surfaced of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump making lewd comments about women ― he talked about grabbing women “by the pussy,” among other things ― Navarro tore into Republicans still standing by him.

“I think that every single Republican is going to have to answer the question, ‘What did you do the day you saw the tape of this man boasting about grabbing a woman’s pussy?’” Navarro said angrily. “Period.”

That was too much raunch for fellow panelist Scottie Nell Hughes, a Trump surrogate, who chided Navarro for using the “p” word.

“Will you please stop saying that word?” Hughes said. “My daughter is listening.”

That did NOT go over well with Navarro.

“You know what Scottie? Don’t tell me you’re offended when I say ‘pussy,’ but you’re not offended when Donald Trump says it!” Navarro shouted at Hughes. “I’m not running for president. He is.”

Hughes tried to interject, but Navarro kept going.

“Don’t act outraged and offended when I say the word that you’re not offended by the man who you are supporting for president is saying,” Navarro continued. “That is absurd.”

“I said I was offended by him saying that too,” Hughes said quietly.

Here’s a video of their exchange:

The show had to go to commercial break, but not before Navarro ended the segment with an agitated, “Mmmm.” When the show came back, she was missing from the panel.

She tweeted soon after that she was going to bed.

Screen Shot 2016-10-08 at 11.32.57 PM

The best thing that came from the segment may be this Vine video of panelists’ reactions to Navarro’s tirade. It doesn’t get old.

👍🏼😏♀

Readers: Right on Navarro. Can you believe that women are still voting for this man? Pussy Pussy Pussy Pussy Pussy. I just can’t help myself. What are you “just noticing?”

Just Noticing: “Observations From Keith Olbermann”

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 18th September 2016

Bookmark and Share

Good morning!

With all of this back and forth between those in favor and those who oppose, I thought this would be just perfect for “just noticing.”

I was such a fan of Olbermann. I rarely missed “Countdown with Keith Olberman” and “The Rachel Maddow Show.” The latter being one I obviously still watch. But once Olbermann left MSNBC, for some reason I only tuned into Current TV a few times and then never again. Why, I’m not sure because I think Olbermann is brilliant with his commentary. Out of sight, out of mind…he just never came across my radar and I never went seeking for him.

Well….He’s baackk!! And I’m delighted to announce,”He’s still got it!”

From GQ The Closer, via The Huff Po. It’s everything we already know jam-packed in 17+minutes of pure fact and fun…it’s illuminating albeit in some pretty sick and scary ways.

Watch it:

Keith Olbermann Is Back, And He Thinks Donald Trump Is A ‘Demonic Messiah’

Plus, he has 176 reasons why you-know-who shouldn’t be president.

(I guess I’m not the only one who is regarding the republican presidential candidate as you-know-who.)

Donald Trump has been called many things during his presidential campaign, but “demonic messiah in Oompa Loompa’s clothing” is probably a first.

That came courtesy of Keith Olbermann, who brought his colorful and sometimes controversial commentary style to his new GQ digital series, “The Closer,” on Tuesday.

His takedown of Trump will likely leave you nodding in assent and laughing.

Olbermann urged Americans to defend themselves against people who, like Trump, don’t commit “to anything except their own out-of-control minds and the bottomless pits of their egos” and called the Republican nominee “the most dangerous individual ever nominated by a major party for the highest office in this country.”

He was just getting started.

“His base wants few details and fewer facts; they just want to burn it down and blame their failures on the collective ‘other,’” Olbermann continued. “And Donald John Trump is their demonic messiah in Oompa Loompa’s clothing. We must stop him.”

Olbermann then began naming “176 shocking things Donald Trump has done this election.” Ready to count along?

Call it a history lesson ― or a warning.

“This is madness,” Olbermann concluded. “Any questions?”

Watch above.

H/T Raw Story

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liarrampant xenophoberacistmisogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.

🙈🙊🙉

Readers: So…heard enough? Perhaps Fallon wouldn’t inspire sitting straddlers, but with so much stupidity and ignorance out there, some people are just looking for an excuse, any excuse to keep the country white and “make America great again.”

Olbermann, on the other hand is diligently dishing out the facts, so I’m hoping Obermann’s words will wake-up, inspire, and take the leap to the left. Mind you, I’m not holding my breath. Although I have to say, this blog has had success in turning a few. Men too.

But some ladies, really? Wha’at’s up?! After all the misogynistic and sexist comments, do you really want a man who has no concern for women, their needs, their health? The man literally has no respect for women. That is the part that I struggle with when I see all of these women siding with him. It’s mindblowing to me. This is the time for women to come together in solidarity. For women to rise together. It’s OUR time. Give the girl a chance.

One can only keep doing their best and move forward. That’s my game plan. And thankfully with all of you here with me, let me say we are quite the team. :)

Any who…Excited Olbermann is back. Can’t wait to hear more of his brilliant banter.

Thoughts? Blog me.

Happy Sunday, everyone! It is a gorgeous stellar day here. I hope yours is the same. Thanks again for reading and engaging.

Peace, baby.

Did Jimmy Fallon Fuck Up?

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 17th September 2016

Bookmark and Share

Good morning!

I love a good laugh. Who doesn’t. However, like the writer I didn’t find this to be funny. This was an opportune moment to put you know who in his place. But Fallon didn’t. An opportunity missed that could be a costly one.

I love Jimmy Fallon, I really do—but he royally f*cked up last night

Screen_Shot_2016-09-16_at_6.52.54_AM

Jimmy Fallon has been wildly successful since taking over The Tonight Show. He’s funny, clever, talented and can be quite endearing. So why would he bring on the Republican nominee Donald Trump who reeks with racism, sexism, xenophobia and hateful bigotry—and joke around with Trump like he was one of the guys, play with Trump’s hair, normalize hate-mongering, and then give Trump a personal enthusiastic standing ovation?

Here is a clip of the scene tweeted by a gloating, grammar-challenged Trump supporter. Click on the image to watch it.

Screen Shot 2016-09-17 at 10.59.25 AM

(Side note: Did you catch the name on the tweet “Rump on the Tonight Show?? – I think that’s accurate.)

Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show just normalized everything that’s bad in this country. He gave Trump the opportunity to appear as a likable good sport, which he’s not, and some people who might not stay informed, saw a different Trump facade incongruent to his uglier side and deviant agenda. In doing so, Fallon, indirectly mocked and insulted the millions of people who Trump has attacked, belittled, insulted and incited violence against. The appearance also helped fan the fires of  Trump fanatics who idolize the white supremacy Trump emotes, giving folks like the former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke more reason to support Trump. I don’t even want to talk about the influence this might have on some swing voters.

At first I thought the network probably pressured Fallon into having Trump on the show—but Fallon seemed to be enjoying himself too much towards the end. And that’s quite said, because the talk show celebrity has a lot of fans who may have taken Fallons (sic) fanning over Trump as support for the Republican nominee.

Fallon is taking a beating for this move on social media. Like Matt Lauer who allowed Trump to blatantly lie without interruption on the Commander in Chief Forum, these talk show hosts are contributing to the possible election of a horrible man. Here are some Twitter reactions to last night’s show:

Screen Shot 2016-09-17 at 11.04.23 AM

Screen Shot 2016-09-17 at 11.05.26 AM

Screen Shot 2016-09-17 at 11.06.53 AM

It’s not so much that Fallon had Trump on the show. Giving candidates equal time is to be expected. It was how Fallon  treated a man so foul. It’s how Fallon lifted a man that provokes hate and incites violence as if he were a funny celebrity. Fallon could take cues from David Letterman who scorched and humorously called out Trump hypocrisy four years ago, and that was before Trump ran for president. As with the Matt Lauer interview, the damage is done and it can’t be walked back. Yes, I’ll watch Fallon again and I still like him. I don’t think he’s malicious and choose to believe he did not realize the level of damage he might cause. It also wasn’t as offensive as Lauer, but it’s still a damn shame. I’d love to find humor in this, but I can’t.These stakes are too high. Donald Trump actually becoming president—is no longer a joke.

*****

Readers: Allow me to say it for the writer since I can.  ”Fallon royally fucked up last night.” I’m not a fan of Fallon. I don’t dislike him. I don’t feel much of anything about him. I don’t watch his show. (Jon Stewart was my guy – miss him.)

However, I did catch this “ruffling of the hair thing” the other night and the comments that were tweeted echoed my sentiments as well. This is no joking matter. Let’s hope those that were on the fence about you know who weren’t inspired by Fallon to decide to swing his way.

Once again, like Matt Lauer, it’s the “good ol boys” having fun and giving each other deference at the expense of the country. This is not responsible comedy or reporting.

In your opinion, did Jimmy Fallon fuck up?  Blog me.

Mike, TM: Thanks for the update. Shocking but as usual I am not surprised.  I hope all is good.

Dorrie: Thank you. I love this blog too. It has been you, the readers, who inspire me and whom I learn so much from. Thanks for being here.

Anonymous #9: That is the first I have heard of this. I will definitely check it out. Thanks for enlightening me.

Brian: I so appreciate your insightful comments. And I couldn’t help repeating your quote here because I think your words are very wise.

“Courage is not fighting for your beliefs. Courage is sincerely examining your beliefs — and changing them when you recognize they’re wrong.”

We could all do the world good by following your wisdom. PS: I hope you don’t mind that I added the missing word “when.”

Sorry for running late, everyone. It has been one of those mornings.

Peace out.

“Southside With You” – A Love Story

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 11th September 2016

Bookmark and Share

Good Sunday Morning!

Lol!! So delighted you all got a kick out of yesterday’s post. I had so much fun with it. Thanks for all the awesome support, encouragement, and kind words (Well mostly. I can see somebody can’t take it.)

Now…onto today’s write…

It’s Sunday…We had some fun, now it’s time to do some lovin’. What better way to begin the week than to post something precious about our president and his beloved. Yes…I’m talking about the movie about the Obamas. Here’s an account from a real couple, also featured in the movie, who ran into our POTUS and FLOTUS on their first date. Sweet.

From the Huff Po:

The Real Story Of The Obamas’ First Date: We Were There

n-BARACK-MICHELLE-628x314

“Southside With You” is a charming, witty, and heartwarming movie of the Obamas’ first date. My wife Jo and I saw them that night, and the movie has two characters based on us, a couple who run into Barack and Michelle at a movie. This is what really happened.

In more than 35 years of teaching and serving now as dean at Harvard Law School, our daughter Martha Minow called me only once to recommend that our law firm recruit one of her students as a summer intern. “I know you don’t normally bring on first year students for your summer program at Sidley Austin,” she said, “but this one is truly exceptional, and he wants to work in Chicago this summer.” I asked, “What’s his name?” “Barack Obama,” she answered. I replied “Wait a minute, I need to write that down, and you’ll have to spell it for me.”

I called John Levi, the head of our firm’s recruiting, who also oversaw the summer program for law students, and discovered that Barack Obama had already been hired. Levi had interviewed him and offered him a place in our 1988 summer associate program.

“I know you don’t normally bring on first year students for your summer program at Sidley Austin,” she said, “but this one is truly exceptional…”

We assign lawyers in the firm to supervise the summer associates, and Levi selected one of our most promising young lawyers, Michelle Robinson, to supervise Barack.

I wanted to welcome him to Sidley, and I was curious to see what impressed Martha, so I invited Barack to stop by my office and have lunch. And we worked together on a client’s case.

I could soon see Martha was right. Her student was truly exceptional.

Later that summer, my wife Jo and I went to the theater at Water Tower Place in Chicago to see the Spike Lee movie, “Do the Right Thing.” We walked into the theater and saw Barack and Michelle buying popcorn at the concession stand. It was their first date.

They were startled and embarrassed, because she did not want anyone in the office to know they were seeing each other outside of work. They thought a supervisor should not be dating a summer associate. Jo and I reassured them that there was no problem, and we went in together to watch the film.

At the end of the film (spoiler alert!) they share their first kiss at the Hyde Park Baskin-Robbins. My wife, Jo, loves that part of the story because her maiden-name is Baskin and she is very proud of her cousin who co-founded the chain.

Barack was everything my daughter said, and we were eager to have him join the firm. But it was clear his ambitions were in a different direction.

They were startled and embarrassed, because she did not want anyone in the office to know they were seeing each other outside of work.

So I was disappointed but not surprised when Barack came to see me to tell me he would not be accepting our firm’s offer of a job after he graduated from law school. We were both standing in my office. Then he said, “You’d better sit down for the next part.” I looked at him warily and we both sat down. “I’m taking Michelle with me.”

“What! You can’t do that! We want her here!” I said.

“We’re getting married,” he told me. I wished them great happiness and we stayed good friends, with concerts at Ravinia and many lunches over the years.

A few years later, I was asked to recommend Barack for a national award. I wrote, “I cannot tell you what this young man will do, but I can assure you he will one day achieve national leadership.”

2016-09-07-1473219207-3985305-minowmikvaobama-thumb

In 2006, I wrote an op-ed for the Chicago Tribune urging him to run for president. I said he combined a first-class temperament with a first-class intellect. Later that year, he asked to meet with me and with my lifelong friend, the late Abner Mikva, because he was deciding whether he was ready — and he country was ready — for him to run. His most important question was whether Ab and I, each the father of three spectacular daughters, thought he could be a good father if he campaigned and was elected president. We told him he would see more of his daughters as [resident than he did as a senator, and I thought of that conversation many times as I read about the Obamas’ nightly family dinners in the White House.

“Southside With You” is a lovely film, touching and romantic. For Jo and me, it was a pleasure to see it on a whole different level as it brought back memories of Barack and Michelle when they were young and so full of promise. Seeing the graciousness, elegance and integrity they brought to the White House has more than realized that promise, and we will miss having them there.

Michelle and I were both born on January 17. This year, I turned 90 and Barack called to wish me a happy birthday. I thanked him, and asked him to give Michelle my birthday greetings, too. I told him how proud Jo and I are of them both. They have set an exceptional example for the nation of high standards, a loving marriage, devoted parenting and strong family life. And if they ever decide to return to the practice of law, we would be happy to welcome them back.

Thanks to my daughter, Nell Minow, for suggesting I share these memories.

❤️❤️❤️

Good morning!

Ok, I know publishing these pictures is usually something only republicans would do. The republican party has proven over and over that there is no low they won’t go to in order to win a point or election. They have no shame and apparently no empathy for the angsts of others.

I say the republicans, because although it is mainly the politicians of their party that resort to this type of despicable behavior, the obvious conclusion is they do it because their constituents reward them for it. So to you republicans who attempt your usual false equivalency arguments with “see the Democrats do it too,” I say NO, we are just retaliating in kind.

This may be too deep for your logic, but reacting to disgusting behavior in kind is not the same as initiating it in the first place. So…Let me put it to you in terms you will understand. Shooting someone that attempted to shoot you is NOT the equivalency of initiating the action of shooting someone. Got it?

Republicans have disgraced the Clinton family at every opportunity from body shaming tactics to accusing Hillary of murder. Trump also claimed Ted Cruz’s father was involved with the assassination of President Kennedy. And when questioned by Megyn Kelly about comments he made denigrating women, he didn’t deny that he made them. He reacted by attacking Kelly.

So…I’m going to be the Dem that has the warrior womb, and give this creep a little of his own medicine back. And I am happy to be the one to do it. Trump’s been doing this disgusting stuff for years beginning with the Obama birth certificate crap. To those who for whatever reason feel this is a tiny penis too far, I suggest you remind yourself that the republicans have rewarded this malicious, vilifying creature with the nomination for the office of POTUS.

It is not as if the republicans did not have candidates with the political, intellectual, economic, and foreign policy experience to choose from. Yet, they chose the idiot with the most vitriolic traits, a creature who has no low. If you have ever wondered how a Hitler could get in power, you are witnessing the how in your own time. I don’t know about you, but to me that says more about the people choosing than it does about the candidate chosen. Therefore any pretentious, moral, or ethical objections by any republicans will be treated with the concern their hypocrisy deserves.

The most common trait of bullies, is that they can’t handle receiving the disgusting shit they dish out so readily to others. So to you, “the Donald,”  you Lying Sack Of Shit, “How do you like it now?”

You like to go nasty. Here’s your triple dose back.

Yes, it’s tiny. Though not like the hands, more like his tiny brain.

Any comments? Of course you do.

Blog me.

Oh…notice something else in the photos? Lol. A few of my “friends” decided to join me. :))

Happy Saturday! Peace out.

CORRECTION: It was Ted Cruz’s father that Trump claimed was involved with  the assassination of President Kennedy, not Mark Rubio’s father, as stated previously.
