“Just Noticing”: Observations of a Blogger

Good morning!

“Just noticing…”

I am trying to keep up with the news and make sense of everything that is being said about these two Boston bombers. But as usual I have some comments and a lot more questions. I am wondering if some of you are thinking the same same.

When I listen to all the pundits and MSM shows talk about the bombers, I am disturbed by the fact that the elephant in the room, “gun background checks”  is never mentioned. That fact would be the “lack of” background checks for their purchase of guns, is not brought up.  With all the talk about background checks lately, why isn’t it being talked about in this scenario?

We are constantly exposed to the fact that the FBI  conducted a background check on the older brother because of an alert by Russia. Later he visited an area in Russia, (Chechnya)  where there is a lot of islamic activity going on, but the FBI did not do a second interview.

Yet there is no mention that if the very gun law that was voted down recently – you know the one that said we need background checks on people before they are able to buy a gun – was actually in place, the FBI would’ve been alerted of this person who had just visited Chechnya and was on a watch list. No such luck this time and probably not next time either because that gun law was just voted down. You can thank the Senate for that and blame them too for any future mass gun murders, because with the way our world is today, sadly, there will most likely be a next time.

All we hear is “The FBI dropped the ball in 2011.” They didn’t drop the ball  – there were no balls to drop  – the ball was taken out of their hands when there was no background check to alert them. In my opinion, it is really that simple.

The older brother was firing an automatic weapon – where did he get it? No mention about that. It is almost as if there were no guns involved, at all. All we hear is talk about  “a bomb”…”a bomb”…”a bomb.” But guns were involved too. How did they kill the MIT guy? Because they had guns? How did the get the car? Because they had guns. How did they escape the police? Because they had guns! If we are so concerned about guns, why is no one talking about them?!

Back to dropping the ball…It was the Senate who dropped the ball when just this week they voted down a huge tool that would have enable law enforcement to catch these guys. Wait until terrorists discover how easy it is to just come here and buy guns and use them against us. Will we as citizens have to experience a mass murdering by one or more terrorists using our own easily bought weapons against us before we get those BAPF, by the gun industry, representatives, to understand that we need to prevent the unwanted from getting their hands on guns?

As horrific as this Boston bombing was, we were lucky this time. The older brother was stupid and thankfully he was. By choice, not because he couldn’t, he only had a certain amount of bullets. And because of that, he was caught by the police because he ran out of bullets. If he had  30-round magazine, this story could’ve turned out a lot different. More people would’ve been dead and the brother bombers could still be at large and who knows what plans they had that could’ve been played out. We have no idea how many more lives could’ve been lost. But we can certainly say that the older brother’s stupidity to not carry a larger magazine for his automatic weapon, most likely saved lives – this time. Wouldn’t it be nice if this law had passed so we wouldn’t ever have to contemplate should another killer be smarter next time?  Why is this kind of logic not  being addressed and discussed?

On another note, we are constantly exposed to Senator Graham saying the bomber should be tried as a “enemy combatant.” It seems that the republicans have no problem depriving people of the civil rights to gain protection of the population as a whole, but they refuse to deprive the gun industry of their profits from the sale of guns to anyone for similar protections of the population as a whole. Crazy right? So those republicans refuse to deprive a few of the right to purchase guns without background checks in order to protect the safety of the general population.

Readers: Any comments on your take on why there is no buzz or questions such as these from any in the media? Or discussions on why having gun background checks would have done to alert law enforcement to their situation? Anything else you’re “just noticing?” Since no one is talking about it, let’s get the conversation going here. Blog me.

Peace & Love….

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. 1. Frederick Says:

Excellent observation Michelle. I don’t expect the pundits or any political heavyweights will have your insights or guts.

  2. Lisa Says:

I am so tired of men claiming 2nd amendment rights to arm themselves with the kind of weapons only military people would need.

The same men are foaming at the mouth to take away our 4th amendment rights. I agree with you Michelle, it is a sorry state of affairs.

  3. Carie Says:

Michelle, the republican party want to take away Dzhorkar’s right to getting mirandized. it shows how dangerous this group of white boys are.

It also shows that as long as white America is the majority in the country, the MSM will never feel it has to cover the news with any logic.

  4. June Says:

The Fifth Amendment (Amendment V) to the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, protects against abuse of government authority in a legal procedure.

Why republicans think the 2nd amendment is more important shows they are thinking with their tiny balls.

  5. Kamela Says:

If this happened under a republican administration, we would still be looking for the bombers.

  6. Ellen Says:

Michelle, we have only 4 officers on duty in Watertown, MA. When the two who were getting off heard about the events they turned around and headed back to work. They were the ones that encountered the Tsarnaevs.

The two brothers were so heavily armed they decided not to run and turned around and headed for the police. Out cops were heavily out gunned. The shooting stopped because the oldest ran out of bullets.

NO one like you said is discussing the guns the terrorist had. Thank you for this great article.

  7. John Says:

Michelle, thank you for bringing attention to the guns involved in this by the terrorists. It is essential that this topic be examined.

Just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday, the pair walked up to a parked police car at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where Sean Collier, a 26-year-old campus officer, was nearing the end of his 3-to-11 p.m. shift.

A security camera would later show two men approaching the car and speaking to the officer. Abruptly, one of the men was seen pulling a gun and shooting Collier multiple times, including once in the head. Some officers concluded that the shooting was an effort to provoke a larger confrontation with police.

“They were looking to start something,” one official said.

  8. OT Says:

Michelle, Tamerlan was the typical male who wanted to use religion to control women. He was so upset by his wife’s refusal to just obey him.

We talked a lot about his trying to use islam to force her to obey him. He was not interested in politics just the power islam gave him to force his will upon females.

  9. Peter Says:

Hafa adai, here in Guam since the threat by North Korea there has been so many sightings of alien aircraft in a particular area of Guam.

I am told that the aliens are not only not evading notice they are defying any intervention in their positions.

    Howie, what is going on?

  10. GN Says:

I saw the shoot out. When Tamerlan ran out of bullets the cops unloaded. He was shot so many times it was amazing he was alive. I saw them rush him when he fell and begin handcuffing him.

  11. Barbara Says:

I am concerned the surviving Boston Marathon bombing suspect will be questioned by investigators without being read his Miranda rights.

You have hit on something so important when you suggest that to the right gun rights trump our civil liberty rights. This is a topic so deep many will miss it.

  12. Barbara Says:

The two brothers were in two different cars and they stopped and took on our Watertown police officers 4 on duty and two off duty Watertown officers who turned around when they heard the request for assistance over their radios.

The 4 officers who spotted the Tsarnaev brothers were told to wait until back up came, but the brothers were so confident in their superior fire power that they stopped and confronted the 4 officers.

  13. DD Says:

Michelle, the way I heard it from a friend who doesn’t want to talk because if is not a citizen said that the brothers thought it was only one officer and they had already killed one so they stopped and started shooting at him. They were armed with hand guns and at least 6 bombs.

Within seconds 3 other officers pulled up and started returning fire. It lasted about 5 to 10 minutes before Tamerlan ran out of bullets. You are right about discussing the guns the the brothers had. Where did they get them?

No one seems to be concerned.

  14. Mickey Says:

Michelle, I saw the whole thing. That Tamerlan had balls. He approached the cops on foot. He was shooting so fast that about hundred bullets were fired. Then just as suddenly as it started it ended because the one who got out of his car and started shooting ran out of bullets.

I saw a cop run up and tackle him. The others joined in and began handcuffing him. The other brother was still in his SUV and he charged the cops while they were on the street with his handcuffed brother.

They screamed “look out” and doved for cover. The SUV runs over the older brother and drags him down the street. I saw the body spin away and sat back with my hands to my face. It was surreal.

  15. EM Says:

Michelle, from my vantage point I could see 4 cops shooting at one guy. It lasted about 10 minutes and then it seemed that everybody ran out of bullets because the shooting just stopped.

I saw a cop who was wounded and was being looked after by two cops the other cops ran up and grabbed one of the shooters the other got in a SUV and charged the cops who had wrestled one to the ground and was handcuffing him.

They scrambled to get out of the way and the guy ran over his brother’s body and drug him a few feet. It appeared the cops just let him go when he got out of the SUV and started to run away.

  16. Dan Says:

I was trolling for a picture of the body of Tamerlan when I discovered this link. http://www.bestgore.com/murder/dead-body-suspect-1-tamerlan-tsarnaev/

My sister happened to be looking over my shoulder and she noticed the shot of the woman being impaled from her through her anus.

My god we can be seriously evil to women.

  17. Henry Says:

Michelle you are a Genius! And beautiful too!!!!!!!!!

  18. Sandy Says:

    Hafa Adai Peter.

I heard that the government had shut that area down.
    —————

This flight advisory will serve as notice of a new and potentially hazardous activity within an existing Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) and/or Altitude Reservation (ALTRV) on the north end of the Island of Guam.

This activity consists of radar emissions that pose a significant hazard to any aircraft that enters the temporary flight restricted airspace. The hazardous activity is wholly contained within the TFR and will not impact operations outside the TFR boundaries. Pilots should exercise extreme caution when operating in the vicinity of this airspace and avoid entering the TFR.

Notify air traffic control immediately if you are unsure of your position relative to the TFR. Pilots should check NOTAMs frequently due to possible changes to the shape and altitudes of the TFR.

The NOTAMs discussed in this advisory may change with little or no notice. Pilots are advised to check NOTAMs frequently for possible changes prior to operations in the area. Pilots are strongly encouraged to contact a Flight Service Station at 1-800-WX-BRIEF (1-800-992-7433) prior to flight to check for all current NOTAMS.
    ===================
It seems that the aliens in that area aren’t backing down about protecting the Princess. What’s next Howie?

  19. Terrance Says:

Many have been concerned about not being able to see what is occurring in the skies in Northern Guam. This is the official pronouncement.
    ==============
This is a sensitive matter and a matter of operational security so we do not discuss this in detail.
    ===================================
    What’s up Howie?

  20. Robert, RT Says:

The constitutional rights of people are there for a reason. The federal gov. will not be able to show the necessary “intent” to qualify Dzhokhar for the death penalty if the courts rule that not giving him his miranda rights eliminates any information he gave them to prove the necessary “intent” to make it a terrorist attack rather than a state crime in MA.

Besides how about the fact that if the government can do this to this person where will it stop. American history has shown what happens when the white boy is allowed to manipulate the laws to their advantage.

  21. Alycedale Says:

Once again Michelle you have proven to be ahead of the curve when it comes to the issues that matter. I see that Huff post most have got the message about you concern on the gun issue.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/22/boston-bombing-gun_n_3131363.html?utm_hp_ref=daily-brief?utm_source=DailyBrief&utm_campaign=042213&utm_medium=email&utm_content=NewsEntry&utm_term=Daily%20Brief
    ==================
You have proven once again this is the place to be if you are a concerned citizen of the country and the planet.

I am proud to be a regular.

    Alycedale

  22. CE Says:

See, this is great. We have a patchwork system that means if there are some laws in your area, all you have to do is drive a short distance to a place that has no gun control laws, or just buy them at a gun show or on the internet.

The result is proof that a patchwork system doesn’t work, and also that until we institute universal background checks, any criminal or mentally ill person can get as many guns as they want.

This is not proof that common sense gun control does not work, only that it doesn’t work when applied in a few cities or states.

  23. Kevin Says:

The NRA says “don’t point the finger at us. It’s the mentally ill who are the problem. Find them and deal with them.” For one, a background check would have helped find them.
But the NRA must think that psychiatrists are just going to open their files and give up the mentally disturbed, It won’t happen that way.

(If they did, the law of averages says they would turn up a number of NRA members) So we’re back to square one, and the mentally ill owes one to the NRA. Be sure to look for them at your next gun show.
