Helen: Yes, I’ve covered it quite a lot, but it appears it still needs more media attention. And I am happy to pass it over to Maher to do just that.

In his Editorial New Rule, Bill Maher cautions young voters against characterizing the choice between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as picking between “the lesser of two evils.”

Ever since the first debate between Hillary and Trump, many have remarked on the “ugliness” of this election season. It sounds so nice and bipartisan to call them both clowns and loftily pronounce yourself to be above the fray, but this is flagrant false equivalence. While I haven’t always agreed with Hillary on everything, relative to Trump she’s been a model candidate.

It’s worth noting that throughout history, people have said women can’t be president because they are too emotional, but Hillary has admirably demonstrated how a female candidate can have much greater self-control than her male opponent.

Readers: So true. As it has been pointed out before, if it was Hillary acting like Trump, people would be appalled and her candidacy for president would be all over. Period. Double standards are alive and showing up big time in this crazy political climate. I need to remind myself to take a deep breath and prepare myself because the double standards and misogyny that will show up when Hillary becomes Madame President will be even more palpable.

But like Hillary we women are strong. We have been living with being treated as second class citizens, dealing with sexism and misogyny on a daily basis in our country and around the world. And like Hillary’s display of great self-control, we too are symbols of great self-control, and are ready to take on the Trumps of the world.

Slavery has not ended in this country; it has just been modernized in the form of mass incarceration. I am saddened and sickened by the people who support Trump. They have no idea what they’re voting for. Or perhaps they do.

This Chilling Video Makes It Clear What’s Really Going On At Trump Rallies

The past isn’t dead. It’s not even past.

Since Republican nominee Donald Trump launched his presidential campaign last year, his fervent supporters have helped turn his rallies into the most high-octane political events in recent memory.

Trump’s rallies are frequently hotbeds of racism, misogyny, Islamophobia and anti-immigrant sentiment. His supporters have threatened journalists and assaulted protesters on multiple occasions.

Trump himself has encouraged this bloodthirsty rage by reminiscing about the “good old days” when protesters and outsiders at political events could expect to be “roughed up,” and perhaps even leave “on a stretcher.” The nominee at one point also promised to pay the legal fees of anyone who’d violently assault protesters at his events. (He later backtracked and claimed he’d never said that.)

Meanwhile, Trump and his advisers dismiss any suggestion that there could be an undercurrent of violence or rage at his events. “Are Trump rallies the most fun?” Trump asked a crowd earlier this year, as a protester was being dragged out of a convention hall.

Even so, it wasn’t until I watched this chilling new clip from the Netflix documentary “13TH” that I understood the full significance of the violence at Trump’s rallies.

What we’re seeing today has its roots in one of the darkest chapters in the nation’s history. This clip should not only scare you ― it should remind you of how much work there’s left to do in the struggle for civil rights.

“13TH,” directed by the renowned documentary filmmaker Ava DuVernay, takes its title from the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which outlawed slavery after the Civil War.

DuVernay’s film zeroes in on a particular 13-word section of the amendment that permits involuntary servitude “as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted.” From this clause, “13TH” draws a direct line to the mass incarceration crisis facing the country today.

Samantha Bee Unleashes NSFW ‘Vagina Monologue’ On Donald Trump

“Oh yeah, I’m going in on this like a b***h!”

Samantha Bee pulled no punches on Monday when it came to analyzing Donald Trump’s repugnant remarks about women.

The “Full Frontal” host unleashed her full fury on the GOP presidential nominee, who was recorded making lewd comments during a hot mic conversation with then “Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush in 2005.

Dubbing the brash businessman and Bush as “two leering dildos,” Bee said, “Oh yeah, I’m going in on this like a bitch.”

Bee highlighted Trump’s staggering hypocrisy by going through his subsequent apology video line-by-line. She then mocked all of the television networks that refused to use the word “pussy” in their coverage of the scandal by delivering her own “Vagina Monologue.”

The #PantsuitPower flashmob for Hillary Clinton is exactly what you need today

The social media campaign “Humanity for Hillary” is making a splash this week with a new video of a #PantsuitPower flashmob. Dozens of dancers clad in Hillary’s signature look took to New York City‘s Union Square for an incredibly choreographed performance of Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling.”

Filmmakers Mia Lidofsky and Celia Rowlson-Hall – a lesbian couple – produced and planned the weekend event featuring breakdancing, streamers, backflips and, of course, lots and lots of colorful jackets.

The group says on their website that “As of September 1, our social media campaign has reached more than 25 million people online, and our videos have been viewed almost 5 million times. We’ve been covered by more than 50 mainstream media outlets and in 44 out of 50 states – all because of the positive, people-powered movement of HRC supporters who want to use art and creativity to help get her message out.”
