Zen Lill, Helena, et al: This write interested me. Although we will never know what was truly said when thugs with guns shoot black men because unfortunately they appear to shoot to kill, leaving the cop and his/her fellow officers as the only ones able to give an account of the story.

Helena: First of all, I am so sorry for your brother, and for what you had to go through. I hope you and yours are doing well. Secondly, you touched on this briefly, and I think it is a very important point to look at.

We keep talking about whether the cop shooting a black man is justified, but what we haven’t really talked about is what happens when the shooting is over, and the person who was just shot is lying there in their own pool of blood.

Then what is happening? This write delves into just that question.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ― When Rakeyia Scott saw cops surrounding her husband, Keith Scott, she immediately worried they might shoot him. She pulled out her cell phone camera.

The horrifying video she captured has now been seen millions of times. One poignant moment, however, stands out.

As officers huddle around her dying husband, she shouts out: “Did y’all call the police?”

Call the police. It’s what one does, or is supposed to do, when a crime has been committed, when someone is in need of help. The idea that the police exist to protect and serve is so powerful that it broke through the reality of what she had just witnessed: police shooting her husband to death.

She quickly caught her mistake. “I mean, did y’all call the ambulance?”

Given the nonchalant attitude officers betrayed as Keith Scott lay on the pavement bleeding, she didn’t wait for an answer and took it upon herself to call 911.

The reaction of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers to a man dying at their feet was strikingly familiar. The ubiquity of cellphone, dashcam and surveillance video has transformed the way the public understands police violence. But as scene after scene unfolds on shaky screens and in grainy contours, another element of the violence is beginning to come into focus: the pattern of officers seeming to show no concern for the person they have shot, often fatally.

The nonchalance around the injured and the dying is stunning in its own way.

Set aside the question of whether any particular shooting was justified, either legally or morally. Perhaps it was. Perhaps the officer had no other choice. Even in such a situation, though, the officer has just exercised the most terrifying of powers ― the use of lethal force against another human being. And yet no care seems to be taken of that human being.

Consider another recent police shooting caught on video: that of Charles Kinsey, who survived. Kinsey, a black behavioral therapist in North Miami, Florida, was trying to help a man with autism who was sitting in the street blocking traffic. A cellphone video shows Kinsey himself lying on the ground with his hands in the air. He was trying to explain to police that the other man had a toy truck and not a gun, contrary to what a 911 caller had reported.

One of the officers fired three times, hitting Kinsey in the leg. Then Kinsey said he was handcuffed and left bleeding on the street for 20 minutes before an ambulance arrived.

And this was a case in which the police understood, right from the start, that the man they shot was the victim.

Letting the body lie where it falls is a fairly common trend in these high-profile police shootings. After Baton Rouge, Louisiana, police shot and killed Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old black man, on July 5, the officers appeared rattled by what had happened. But as for Sterling, they said to “just leave him,” according to a witness.

In Ferguson, Missouri, officers left Mike Brown’s body in the street for four hours, an indignity that protesters have referred to often.

Cedrick Chatman was shot four times, within 10 seconds, as he ran from officers on the south side of Chicago. Then they handcuffed the dying teen, and an officer placed his boot on top of him.

After officers shot 12-year-old Tamir Rice in Cleveland, the child was still alive. Even when police realized he was just a kid with a toy gun, they still failed to offer basic medical assistance. (They have since said they thought his toy gun was real and were afraid for their lives.) Instead, when his 14-year-old sister, T.R., ran toward him crying out, “My baby brother, they killed my baby brother,” one of the officers tackled her. She tried to get up and crawl toward her dying brother, but the second officer dragged her down. She was handcuffed and put in the backseat of a car, left to watch her brother continue to bleed while the officers did nothing.

“When Tamir’s mother, Samaria Rice, heard about the shooting and rushed to the park, the officers refused to release T.R. into her custody and told her she had to choose between going to the hospital with her fatally wounded 12-year-old son and staying with her handcuffed 14-year-old daughter, who was in the back of the car with the very same officers who had shot her son,” the Rice family’s lawyers have since written.

On Dec. 28, an Ohio grand jury chose not to indict the officer who fatally shot Tamir.

When a Tulsa, Oklahoma, reserve deputy accidentally shot 44-year-old Eric Harris, he was already being subdued by other officers. “Oh shit, he shot me!” Harris says in the video. “I’m losing my breath.”

“Fuck your breath,” one officer says in response, among the last words Harris would ever hear.

If black lives truly mattered, police would make an attempt to save the dying. If black lives truly mattered, the dead would be afforded more dignity. It is this lack of caring for a fellow human being in his last moments, over and above the violence itself, that reinforces the belief that black lives don’t matter.

After shooting LaQuan McDonald, Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke can be seen in video meandering about the crime scene. When North Charleston, South Carolina, police officer Michael Slager shot and killed Walter Scott, he casually walked toward his body. Later, more officers stand around Scott, and it takes some time for any of them to check for a pulse.

Videos of police behaving nonchalantly after shooting white people have also come to light. Andrew Thomas, driving drunk, flipped his car and his passenger was thrown from the vehicle. Paradise, California, police officer Patrick Feaster witnessed the crash and pulled up behind them. Instead of attending to the passenger or helping Thomas out of the car, he simply drew his weapon, aimed, fired and struck Thomas in the neck, all in a matter of seconds. Then he radioed that the driver was refusing to exit the car, not mentioning for 11 minutes that he had shot him.

Almost instantly after confronting Kajieme Powell in St. Louis, police shot him. Then they rolled over his body to put him in handcuffs. “They’re putting him in cuffs. He’s dead. Oh my God,” one bystander can be heard saying in a video. “Now they cuffin’ him, he’s already dead.”

In fact, in reviewing nearly every publicly available video of a police shooting over the past year or so, it is close to impossible to find footage of an officer aiding the person who has been shot.

Video of 25-year-old Freddie Gray’s arrest shows him screaming out, possibly in pain, as he is placed in the back of a Baltimore police van. Knowledge of what happened inside the van is limited, at best. But prosecutors argued in cases against several of the six officers charged in Gray’s death that not buckling his seatbelt was a mistake, whether intentional or not, that contributed to the severity of his injuries. William Porter, whose first trial ended in a mistrial, has also been accused of failing to ensure that Gray was provided immediate medical assistance once he requested help.

That lackluster response, as much as the rough ride, might have cost Gray his life.

It’s this nonchalance that gives weight to claims that too many police officers are operating more like law enforcement warriors than like public servants dedicated to the protection of others. Couple this with officers’ unwillingness to publicly shoulder any moral responsibility in these deaths, and we can only conclude that they believe those on the receiving end of police violence have invited death upon themselves.

When social activists like Colin Kaepernick protest police violence against black people, the black-on-black crime rate is often raised in response. But Rakeyia Scott’s powerful slip of the tongue ought to show people who couldn’t see it before why that response is so offensive, and why police violence itself carries a unique resonance. The police are supposed to be the ones you call for help. Learning that they are, instead, the perpetrators of violence, flips everything upside down.

If police officers want to convince the public they value black lives as much as any others, they need to start acting like the life they just took matters to them. They need to call the police.

OTWs in Ohio unless you want to lose that state including the members they will send to both houses of Congress, you had better get registered now so that you can vote in November. They are now moving to cut off the date you can register which will enable you to vote in November.

This is your heads up. The republicans are trying to steal the state by eliminating same day registration and voting, and early voting. If you want to have a voice in this election, don’t wait –GET REGISTERED NOW. And spread the word.

Supreme Court kills last hope of restoring key early voting week in Ohio

The Supreme Court rejected a petition from Ohio Democrats Tuesday morning to restore a crucial week of early voting known as “Golden Week,” the only time voters can register to vote and cast a ballot in a single visit.

About 60,000 Ohioans voted during Golden Week in 2008 and 80,000 did so in 2012. In 2008, black voters were 3.5 times more likely to use Golden Week as white voters. In 2012, they were more than five times as likely.

The Court gave no rationale for their decision and there were no written dissents released, though justices may have disagreed behind the scenes.

Though a federal district court ruled in May that the cuts were “unconstitutional” and ordered the state to restore Golden Week, a federal appeals court overturned that decision in August, siding with Ohio Republicans who sought to cut this opportunity. A dissenting judge on that court criticized the ruling and argued that the early voting cut “imposes a disproportionate burden on African Americans” who disproportionately depend on that week to vote.

The Democratic Party then appealed, pleading with the federal court to stay the ruling until after the 2016 presidential election, in which the swing state of Ohio is expected to play a decisive role.

Because Ohio does not offer same-day voter registration on Election Day, and because the Governor is refusing to implement online voter registration until after the election, the Supreme Court’s ruling effectively eliminates the possibility for one-stop voting this November.

Black Doctor: Thanks for your post. I’ve never heard the term “racial trauma” but the name is to the point and doesn’t leave one guessing what that would mean. I have no doubt that many OTWs are suffering from it. How could they not when their race is constantly having to deal with racism on a daily basis coming from so many avenues? The effects are devastating, and one can only imagine how difficult it is to overcome. My heart hurts for so many. I wish there were more that I could do.

Good morning.

Cop Says He’ll ‘Kill This Motherf****r’ In Video Of Fatal 2011 Shooting

New video footage has surfaced of a 2011 deadly shooting for which a former St. Louis police officer is facing a murder charge, showing the cop during a high-speed pursuit threatening to kill the man he was chasing. Relatives of the slain man, who was black, have accused the cop of planting a gun after the killing.

Videos obtained and published this week by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch show the entire December 2011 incident, including police dashcam footage of Officer Jason Stockley’s attempted arrest of 24-year-old drug suspect Anthony Lamar Smith, the ensuing high-speed pursuit and the fatal shooting that led to a first-degree murder charge this year.

Stockley, who left the police force in 2013, has claimed he fired his weapon in self defense after Smith reached for a revolver police said was found in the vehicle, according to Post-Dispatch reports. Smith’s family, however, maintains that Smith was unarmed and that the gun was placed in his car after the fact.

Tests of the weapon showed only Stockley’s DNA, officials said. The officer said he handled the weapon to unload it after the shooting, the St. Louis newspaper reported.

Stockley was charged with murder in May ― more than four years after the shooting ― in light of new, undisclosed evidence. In August, a federal judge ordered that the records related to the shooting, including video, audio recordings and reports, remain sealed.

The newspaper said it obtained the videos from someone not involved in the legal proceedings.

As seen in the video above, the incident begins in a restaurant parking lot, where officers attempt to arrest Smith following a suspected drug deal. When Smith flees in his vehicle, Stockley opens fire.

Stockley and fellow officer Brian Bianchi then pursue Smith, reaching speeds of more than 80 mph. Around the 4:10 minute mark of the video, Stockley says he’s “going to kill this motherf****r, don’t you know it.”

Soon after, Stockley tells Bianchi, who’s driving, to “hit him, hit him right now!” Bianchi rams Smith’s sedan with a police SUV, and Stockley jumps from the passenger seat and runs up to the suspect’s vehicle. Seconds later, he fires five shots into the vehicle, killing Smith.

The Post-Dispatch video shows separate footage taken by a witness, which the paper first published in June. That footage shows Stockley return to his vehicle two times, first to place an unauthorized, personally owned AK-47 into the back seat, and later to rummage through a duffle bag. After Smith’s body is dragged from the car, Stockley gets into the front seat, where he stays for roughly 30 seconds.

The Post-Dispatch reports Stockley is free on $1 million bail secured by the St. Louis Police Officers’ Association. A hearing in his murder case is reportedly scheduled for Oct. 3.

In 2013, the St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners paid a $900,000 settlement as part of a wrongful death suit filed on behalf of Smith’s young daughter.

Irene: Yeah they wanted him to die. In my opinion, the cops most always want the black man they are shooting to die. They are not aiming to shoot a leg to incapacitate. The thugs want him dead so they can plant drug, guns, and make up stories. A dead man can’t talk and tell his side of the story.

Lisa: Ignorance and lockstep behind their husbands. Either way, they are giving up their power to men by not learning, and just following along.

Rebecca: This really saddens me. Kids should not have to go to school and have a discussion like this. And yet, I’m glad that it is being talked about amongst the students and the staff. Kids need to express their feelings, ask all the questions that are rolling around in their brains, vent if needed, and of course, cry. I never had to go through such horror as a child. No child should have to. And no black person should have to live with the fear of being senselessly killed when a cop pulls him over. Nia: Your comment says it all.

Toni: Yep, even at the expense of the country going to the proverbial hand-basket of shit. Well..it will certainly give plenty for people to bitch about if it does happen. I have faith that it won’t but I certainly don’t like what I’m seeing. Thanks for using your head and voting in your best interest and the best interest of the country. Hillary does need to kick some big ass and we need to get to the polls and take the Senate back. You got it correctamundo. Our country depends on Clinton’s SCOTUS nomination and the Senate’s confirmation.

Social Butterfly: I’ve seen it now, thanks to you. That is exactly what I keep saying. Along with the fact that I would be so embarrassed if I were a Trump voter and admitting it to anyone. But that’s the deal, if you were embarrassed you wouldn’t be voting for the scum. So you just walk around saying ignorant shit like Miller, while being an embarrassment to intelligent women like yourself.  Regardless of the reasons, this country is polarized when it comes to political opinions and choices this election season.

Good Morning.

It’s unbelievable to me that Trump is walking the streets. From rape and attempted rape allegations, to his infatuation with the assassination of Clinton, to the recent - using money from his charitable foundation to settle legal disputes, he should be indicted for something. If this was anyone but a white man he would at the very least be taken in and questioned. But no, not Trump.

I’m sick of it. I’m just livid every time I log onto my computer and start reading.

What is more unbelievable is that people, many people are voting for him. Now, as sickening as it may be, it doesn’t surprise me that he’s got men on his side. There are men out there who just don’t want progress…who just don’t want a woman to be the leader of our country…who just can’t accept a woman holding the most powerful position one can hold in our country, and possibly being successful…more successful than most of the past male presidents. In spite of the fact that we know that when women succeed, America succeeds.

But WOMEN?! Women voting for Trump? REALLY? It is so hard for me to fathom how so many women will vote against their best interest. And no doubt we’ll hear the bitching later on if he wins. Why would any woman vote for this misogynist, sexist, racist,  fearmongering, insane, narcissistic, man?

Like what…you think if you vote for him, he’s all of a sudden going to change because he got your vote? He’s all of a sudden going to be on a woman’s side because she helped him get into the white house?  Wake up. That’s about as logical as a woman having an affair with a married man and then ending up marrying that man and expecting he’ll be monogamous with her. Yeah, right.

Trump has no interest in women except to use them as he sees fit. He has no respect for woman. As Maya Angelou said, “When someone shows you who they are believe them; the first time.”

Trump has shown it time and time again what women mean to him. Ladies: Don’t you think it’s time you believe him?

These are just some of the names that Donald Trump has called women over the years. Yes, a man who’s hoping to become President of the United States and presumably persuade a few women to vote for him, too.

The billionaire has been widely called out for his objectification of women – he has a tendency to criticise them for their looks – and sexist remarks.

From saying no one would vote for his former rival Carly Fiorina because of her face to saying women should be ‘punished’ for having abortions and ‘joking’ that he’d date his daughter, you couldn’t make this stuff up.

Well, if you just can’t get enough of Trump-grade sexism, you’re in luck. We’ve rounded up some of ‘The Donald’s’ most sexist remarks over the years.

To include them all might have broken the internet, but we’ll keep updating the list as more emerge. Promise.

Brace yourself…

1990: When he belittled his wife

In an interview with Vanity Fair, while he was still married to Ivana, Trump said:

“I would never buy Ivana any decent jewels or pictures. Why give her negotiable assets?”

1991: When he called women ‘beautiful pieces of ass’

Back when George HW Bush was US President, Trump spoke to Esquire magazine about the media: “You know, it doesn’t really matter what [they] write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass.”

He is currently married to 45-year old former supermodel Melania.

1997: When he said all women are goldiggers

From seminal tome, Trump: The Art of the Comeback on prenuptial agreements:

“There are basically three types of women and reactions. One is the good woman who very much loves her future husband, solely for himself, but refuses to sign the agreement on principle. I fully understand this, but the man should take a pass anyway and find someone else. The other is the calculating woman who refuses to sign the prenuptial agreement because she is expecting to take advantage of the poor, unsuspecting sucker she’s got in her grasp. There is also the woman who will openly and quickly sign a prenuptial agreement in order to make a quick hit and take the money given to her.”

2004: When he said he was irresistible to women

Back in 2004, Trump told the Daily News: “all of the women on The Apprentice flirted with me – consciously or unconsciously. That’s to be expected”.

2005: When he told a woman she’d ‘make a great wife’

According to one woman who appeared on the show, Trump told her: “I bet you make a great wife”.

The comment never aired on TV. Can’t imagine why – standard job interview stuff, right?

March 7, 2006: When he cracked an incest gag

According to ABC News, back in 2006 Trump said “If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

A spokesman later said it was a ‘joke’.

2006: When he slagged off Rosie O’Donnell part one

It’s no secret that there’s no love lost between Trump and comedian O’Donnell. Perhaps his most notorious rant against her came on American TV show Entertainment Tonight in 2006, when he said: “Rosie O’Donnell is disgusting, both inside and out. If you take a look at her, she’s a slob. How does she even get on television? If I were running The View, I’d fire Rosie. I’d look her right in that fat, ugly face of hers and say, ‘Rosie, you’re fired.’

“We’re all a little chubby but Rosie’s just worse than most of us. But it’s not the chubbiness — Rosie is a very unattractive person, both inside and out.”

He also took a job at her love life and managed to offend the LGBT community at the same time: “Rosie’s a person who’s very lucky to have her girlfriend. And she better be careful or I’ll send one of my friends over to pick up her girlfriend, why would she stay with Rosie if she had another choice?”

2007: When he compared women to architecture

This appears in his bible of business wisdom, Trump 101: The Way to Success:

“Beauty and elegance, whether in a woman, a building, or a work of art, is not just superficial or something pretty to see.”

At least our beauty isn’t superficial, eh ladies?

2007: When he called Angelina ‘not beautiful’

On Larry King’s CNN show, Trump addressed Jolie’s falling out with her father Jon Voight, saying:

“I really understand beauty. And I will tell you, she’s not—I do own Miss Universe. I do own Miss USA. I mean I own a lot of different things. I do understand beauty, and she’s not.”

June 2007: When he pitched ‘Lady or a Tramp?’

Yes, really. This was reported to be a reality show, in which ‘out of control’ party girls were sent to charm school to learn some manners. Because, God forbid a woman should be anything but demure.

Tragically, it was never made.

2008: When he called Anne Hathaway a goldigger (sic)

When the actresses marriage broke-up, following her husband Rafaella Follierei’s financial and legal troubles, Trump told Access Hollywood:

“So when he had plenty of money, she liked him. But then after that, not as good, right?

2009: ‘The Trump rule’

Beauty queen Carrie Prejean wrote about the ‘Trump rule’ in her book, referring to the Miss USA pageant, of which Trump is co-owner. She claimed that the billionaire had the girls parade in front of him, so he could separate those he found attractive from those he didn’t.

She wrote: “Many of the girls found this exercise humiliating. Some of the girls were sobbing backstage after [he] left, devastated to have failed even before the competition really began . . . it was as though we had been stripped bare.”

November, 2010: When he asked men to rate women

According to a report in the New York Post, former female contestants on the show complained that Trump consistently objectified women.

Mahsa Saeidi-Azcuy claimed: “So much of the boardroom discussion concerned the appearance of the female contestants—discussing the female contestants’ looks—who he found to be hot.

“He asked the men to rate the women — he went down the line and asked the guys, ‘Who’s the most beautiful on the women’s team?’ ”

Gene Folkes, a 46-year-old financial adviser, said: “I think it was most uncomfortable when he had one [female] contestant come around the board table and twirl around.”

2011: When he called breastfeeding ‘disgusting’

Trump was in court testifying in a deposition over a failed Florida real estate project, when lawyer Elizabeth Beck asked to take a break to breastfeed her three-month old daughter.

Trump and his team objected, so she pulled out her breast pump to prove it. In an incident that the Republican presidential candidate ‘does not dispute’, he walked out of the room, telling Beck she was ‘disgusting’.

2011: When he called a female journalist a ‘dog’

After New York Times columnist Gail Collins wrote about rumours of Trump’s bankruptcy, he sent her a copy of her own article, with her picture circled and ‘the face of a dog!’ scrawled across it.

April 3, 2012: When he joked about his penis

In 2012, transgender Miss Universe contestant Jenna Talackova was kicked out of the contest for not having declared her trans status in her entry (the pageant does now accept trans people). Talackova’s lawyer, Gloria Allred, angrily said that no one had asked Trump to ‘prove’ he was a man by showing his anatomy.

In response, Trump called in to TMZ Live and said of his penis: “I think Gloria would be very impressed”.

May 11, 2012: When he criticised Cher

In 2012, the singer criticised Trump’s friend and right-wing politician Mitt Romney. His response? To attack her appearance, of course.

August 28, 2012: When he insulted Arianna Huffington

Huffington Post editor and co-founder, Arianna Huffington is a regular target of Trump’s. But instead of attacking her liberal views, he tends to criticise her looks and make jokes about her divorce.

March 2, 2013: When he slagged off Rosie O’Donnell part two

March 3, 2013 : When he made an oral sex joke

Former Playboy playmate Brande Roderick was a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice in the US. During a tense boardroom battle, she knelt in front of Trump – who takes the Alan Sugar role – to ask him whether she could be the next project manager.

After a six second silence (an eternity on TV), during which Trump presumably willed some blood to return to his head – he said: “It must be a pretty picture. You dropping to your knees”.

Because isn’t that woman’s place in the boardroom – on her knees?

May 7, 2013: When he blamed sex assault on cohabitation

Rather than, say, questioning why so many assaults go unreported or why so few perpetrators are brought to justice. Nope, it must be down to the fact that women and men just can’t share the same living quarters.

2015: When he did a u-turn on abortion

Having previously supported the pro-choice lobby, Trump has now changed his stance on abortion to fit in with the Republican party.

He’s also said he’d be willing to shut down the US Government to defund non-profit reproductive health organisation Planned Parenthood.

He told the Des Moines Register in April: “In thinking about it over the years, I’ve had instances, and one instance in particular, a friend had a child who they were going to abort, and now they have it, and the child is incredible. And the man, he changed his views also because of that.”

April 7, 2015: When he called Arianna Huffington ugly part two

April 16, 2015: When he said Hillary couldn’t ‘satisfy’

…and therefore couldn’t satisfy America, in a thinly veiled reference to his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Where most of Trump’s sexist tweets remain, this one has mysteriously disappeared from the social media site. His office said one of the 10 staff who runs his Twitter account was responsible.

August 8, 2015: When he used the word ‘bimbo’

Kelly recently hosted the first Republican debate of the US Presidential campaign and gave Trump a tough time over previous accusations of sexism against him (really, we can’t imagine why).

After the debate, he responded by seeming to call her a ‘bimbo’ on Twitter.

And in a later CNN interview suggested her questioning was a result of her menstruating: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.” Trump has denied this was his intention.

August 16, 2015: When he called Heidi Klum fat

In an interview with the New York Times, Trump said of the German supermodel: “Heidi Klum. Sadly, she’s no longer a 10.”

In response, Klum posted a video on Twitter in which she wore a t-shirt with ‘10’ written on it.

September 9, 2015: When he insulted Carly Fiorina

Fiorina is the former Hewlett Packard boss and Trump’s Republican candidate rival. According to Rolling Stone, he said: “Look at that face. Would anyone vote for that?

“Can you imagine that, the face of our next next president? I mean, she’s a woman, and I’m not supposed to say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?”

November 10, 2015: When he insulted Fiorina part two

Trump singled out his female Republican rival for a dressing down, ignoring the fact his male counterparts were also talking over one another.

His comment – “Why does she keep interrupting everybody?” – was immediately called sexist on social media.

At least, this time, Trump managed not to respond on Twitter himself or call the woman in question a ‘bimbo’. #Winning.

March 30, 2016: When he said abortion was ‘punishable’

Trump caused mass outage after advocating ”some form of punishment” for women who have abortions if the practise is banned (which it likely will be if he gets his way).

The Republican front-runner said he has “evolved” on the issue of abortion. He was pro-choice for years before changing his position and backing a ban.

He believes the Supreme Court ruling legalising abortion should be overturned, and that individual states should be allowed to ban it. His campaign said he believes abortion should be legal only in instances of rape, incest or when the life of the mother was at stake.

“There has to be some form of punishment,” he told MSNBC, referring to women who would seek to defy the ban.

Trump reversed his position two hours later, with a statement saying that he would punish doctors who performed abortions but not the women themselves. Well that’s alright then.

May 8, 2016: When he called Clinton an ‘enabler’

After Clinton criticised his stance his stance on women’s issues, Trump hit back the only way he knows how: by accusing her of being an “enabler” of her husband’s affairs by destroying the lives of his mistresses.

At a rally, he said: “Bill Clinton was the worst in history and I have to listen to her talking about it?” he said in Eugene, Oregon. “Just remember this: She was an unbelievably nasty, mean enabler.

“And what she did to a lot of those women is disgraceful. So put that in her bonnet and let’s see what happens.”

And on May 17, Trump tweeted:

May 18, 2016: When he ‘apologised’ to Megyn Kelly

Nine months after suggesting Fox presenter Kelly was on her periods, after she took him to task over previous sexist comments, the Republican candidate apologised. Or tried to. When asked about calling Kelly a ‘bimbo’, Trump replied: ”did I say that? Excuse me.”

But he couldn’t resist adding another jibe: “Over your life, Megyn, you’ve been called a lot worse, wouldn’t you say?”

Charming.

So Ladies: Heard enough? Do you believe him now? Vote him in and I’m sure this is just the tip of the iceberg for what we can expect. Only then, it’ll be too late. He’ll have power.

Social Butterfly: I read more on Terrence Crutcher. I am so sad and disgusted over this, and disheartened with humanity. The Family is seeking criminal charges. I signed. But will this help? After checking out the news headlines we can read, the murder of black men continue.

Readers: I am feeling extremely sad, disgusted, and outraged right now over this country. With these recent killings…I know, I know…this is obscenely “normal”…happening to so many black men around the country – it is a “normal” that needs to change. Yet, we don’t hear about all of these senseless killings unless there is some sort of uproar.

Police In North Carolina Fatally Shoot Black Man, Sparking Protests

Protests erupted after the sixth killing of a civilian by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police in the past year.

Police in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday fatally shot a black man they said was armed as they searched for someone else,sparking violent protests that injured more than 12 officers. Witnesses said the man who was killed, Keith Lamont Scott, was unarmed.

“He exited the vehicle armed with a handgun,” Charlotte Police Chief Kerr Putney said in a news conference Tuesday. “The officers gave loud, clear verbal commands which were also heard by many of the witnesses.”

Police instructed Scott to drop the weapon, he said, but he re-entered his vehicle and exited again still holding the gun.

“He stepped out, posing a threat to the officers,” so one officer shot at him, Putney said. The officers immediately requested medical help, which performed CPR on the scene. Scott, 43, later succumbed to his injuries while in medical care.

Police identified the shooter as Officer Brentley Vinson, who has worked for the department since July 2014. Vinson is black.

The shooting ― the sixth Charlotte-Mecklenburg police killing of a civilian in the past year ― happened just before 4 p.m. at an apartment complex roughly a mile from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers were searching at the complex for someone else who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, police said in a statement.

The killing unleashed a wave of anger, with hundreds of people converging at the shooting scene, chanting anthems that decried police violence. More than a dozen officers and several members of the press were injured. Police blamed “agitators” who joined the protesters for destroying marked patrol cruisers.

Police said Civil Emergency Unit vehicles were sent to remove officers whose vehicles had been surrounded by protesters.

Overnight, the protesters moved onto I-85, blocked traffic and threw rocks at passing vehicles, WBTV reported.

This is the sixth time in the past year that Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers have been involved in a fatal shooting of a civilian, according to police data. The district attorney found police to be justified in the five previous killings, according to local news channel WSOC-9.

All of the department’s officers began wearing body cameras a year ago. Three of four fatal shootings that happened from September 2015 to May weren’t captured on cameras. It’s unclear if a June 3 shooting was filmed by the department’s body cameras.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s tactical and SWAT units do not wear body cameras, the Charlotte Observer reported.

Putney called the investigation “preliminary” and said both the criminal investigative bureau and internal affairs are involved. Vinson was put on paid leave while the probe is underway.
