Sunday’s A Drag

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 15th December 2008

At Harry Denton’s that is…every Sunday.  ’Drag’ being the ever famous ‘Sunday’s A Drag’ show at Harry Denton’s Starlight Room. Harry invited Doug and I to the show yesterday and we ‘dragged’ my mother along, who was simply delighted to go with us.  If you haven’t seen a ‘drag’ show before this is the one to see.

It is described as a “classic Sunday brunch with attitude.’  And believe me, ‘attitude’ is not just a place on the face but oozing out of their push-up bras and fishnet rear ends. It was a Christmas show complete with snow – And the costumes..well you know me…I am toughy when it comes to fashion but I must say they were outrageously fabulous and so were the uhmmm….’ladies’.

Especially the star of the show ‘Cassandra Cass’.  She has a body and a face that any woman would want and most guys would not deny. ‘She is all woman’…she didn’t use to be, but since her many operations thankfully gifted from a dear friend, now turned ‘lovah’ – this woman right down to her sexy voice and flawless complexion has it all. One would never even know that at one time ‘she’ was a ‘he’.  I got excited just watching her move her body and flirt with the audience.

And speaking of flirting…we three had the perfect little booth open to the audience and available for the girls to ‘take advantage of.’  And did they….Cassandra grabbed Doug and ‘dragged’ him (believe me he wasn’t kicking and screaming) onto the stage and threw him on all fours (You go girl!), jumped on his back and rode him beating him with her feather whip….Ahhh it was hilarious and quite delicious. I was laughing trying to get the camera to work and my mother was screaming in hysterics.  It was a memorable moment and alas…only for those eyes that were there. Oh well…the least I could do is post a photo of the beauty. Feast your eyes…I know I don’t need to tell you which one she is…

So…how was your Sunday?  I hope it wasn’t too much of a drag :)

~~~~~~~~
Readers: It was such a pleasant surprise to see so many comment when I read my blog this morning.
Hi Caroline:  I, not being a mother can not relate at all but I can say, you are right – they would not be here if it were not for you. And that in itself says so much. :)
Serial Sam:  If this is not a joke, I really don’t know what to say. I guess there are going to be all kinds stumbling onto my blog.  Hey how about finding another way to thrill yourself that doesn’t affect someone else? Just a suggestion. Maybe the Girls could use you aboard – would you be willing to try a new ‘thrill’ in your life – blog me. Just ask and I will give the order.
Sandra:  Although I do not wish Anonz dead, I would not wish for someone to have control over my decisions and I certainly know Anonz wouldn’t.  So why would I make a decision in regards to Anonz’s life when he has ‘respectfully asked me to butt out’? I am a person of my word. If Anonz asks for help it will be given from me, but only then.  If ZL wants to debate it with him or make a request to Madaline, that is her choice, and between her and Anonz. I’m out of it.
Hello Mary:  I am sure that you would be missed. There is no way that someone’s life does not matter to someone.
Hi Mary: I am assuming this is a different Mary.  I have no problem with you and your faith as long as it does not affect the livelihood of others. So….you may think that the repeal of gay marriages was a good thing but I have to strongly disagree.  How would you like it if someone prevented you from practicing your faith?
Alpa:  Hello. You are doing a good thing for the women of this world. I am sure their lives are in a better place because of you and the dedicated work that you do. You not being here would be one less woman fighting the cause.
Hi Tiffany: Sounds like you’ve got some family issues going on. And it also sounds like your parents need to speak up if they feel the same way as you do. As far as the ‘fondling’…no harm there…better a picture of me than one of his patients.
Hi Doug:  Yes, you do give me the unconditional freedom and space to shine and grow and that along with your love I am grateful for. One doesn’t quite know the impact that once has in one’s life until one is truly gone.
Got to run…have a beautiful day where ever you are!
Eat Meat? Just Eat Less And Help Save The Planet.
Posted by Michelle Moquin on 29th November 2008
 I found this very interesting lecture of Marc Bittman, a NY Times foodie columnist. He spoke at a Ted conference last year and since we all just got through feasting for Thanksgiving and we still have more feasting to do for the holidays I thought I would post the lecture. He says some pretty amazing and enlightening facts about food production and where we are going as a world community.
So while you’re thinking about what you’re going to cook for the holidays think about this: After energy production, livestock is the second highest contributor to atmosphere altering gases.  Nearly 1/5 of all greenhouse gas is generated by livestock production; more than transportation. Shocking yes?
So while we’re all thinking about how we can cut down our use of oil and replace our gas guzzling cars with a vehicle that is more clean and efficient, we have to think about the gases that the millions of animals produce on a daily basis. Here’s a little tidbit:  Methane is 20 times more poisoness than Co2.  Livestock contributes to land degradation, water shortages, water pollution etc.  And a bit off subject, but did you know that half of the antibiotics in this country are not administered to people, but animals?!
There is so much energy going towards thoughts of cutting back on oil, and rightly so. Yet we continue to consume animals without much of a thought about how our animal production is drastically affecting our planet.
Kindness is a concern and as you all know enforcing the humane treatment of animals has been a passion of mine.  Prop 2 is a good start. But….there is no way to treat our animals nicely when we are killing 10,000,000,000. per year!  And that is just in the US!  The more important thing is to reduce out meat intake. I’m not asking for people to stop eating meat. The world will never go completely vegetarian, and I don’t expect it to. I’m just asking you to think about your body; your planet…and cut back.
One thing Marc stated that I do disagree with, is that we don’t need to eat meat.  I feel that our bodies do need meat. I know mine does. We are carnivores but….and this is a big BUT…we are eating way too much meat.  This I agree with. The production of animals and the greenhouse gases generated, as he stated, are adding to global warming, and we need to drastically cut down on our meat production, which is healthier for the planet and us.
Between 1950 and 2000 the worlds population doubled but the meat consumption increased 5 fold!
By the 70′s as women were getting more involved in the work place, home cooking started going down hill…hello fast food! Fewer fresh meals were being cooked, and more canned and packaged foods started to become popular in the home.   Remember when TV dinners came out – Salisbury steak? I ate those all of the time especially on the weekends when my parents went out to dine….and I remember loving them!  (yuck!)
We’ve been told that plants promote health and that if we eat more plants and eat less other stuff, such as meat and junk food, we’ll live longer. Yet many don’t listen to this good advice. We need to in order to start showing concern for our bodies and our planet. So check this out:
30% of the earth’s land surface is directly or indirectly devoted to raising the animals we eat and it is predicted to double in the next 40 years or so.  And, if the numbers that we get from China continue as huge as they are today, we’ll be using double of the earth’s land surface is less than 40 years.
Can you imagine what our planet would be like then?
We eat on average twice as much protein as the USDA recommends. Experts, who are serious about disease reduction, recommend that as adults we eat a half a pound of meat per week. Surprise…guess how much we’re eating?  On average we are eating a half a pound a day!
Americans need to start reducing now.
I mean how difficult would it be to eat 50% less meat and increase our consumption of plants? Simple. Be an advocate and be an example. Eat less meat…eat less junk…and eat more plants.’  Marc says, ‘We can continue to enjoy our food. We can continue to eat well, and we can continue to search for ingredients we love – and in return we can reduce our calorie intake and reduce our carbon footprint.’ Lastly, ‘Make food more important, not less and save ourselves by doing so. Stop eating meat industrially and stop raising them thoughtlessly.’
Like I have mentioned before, Doug and I buy our meat directly from a small farm where we know the animals are fed well on grasses that the freely graze on.  We know the animals are treated humanely. Yes it’s a bit more expensive but if you’re eating less you can afford to buy better meat. I only consume about a half to one pound of meat every two weeks.  I can’t cut back much more than that or I would be a vegetarian which I don’t desire to be anymore.
Readers: What will you do to have less of an impact on our planet?
***********
Doug: Good observation. That is true.
ZL:  Ha! Happy you did as ‘ordered’.  I hope the rest of the weekend is beautiful.
Enjoy yourselves….
michelle
Good Morning.
Without getting too personal….who wants to hear about uninspiring bs on a Sunday? I certainly don’t. So I am going to be brief. I woke up this morning feeling emotional and a tad sad. Not sure why. I’m not getting enough sleep and…..and ya know what?..I don’t feel like getting into it….so I’m going to end it here.
Caroline:  Here is a note from Zen Lill. She tried to post but for some reason it did not get in so I am posting it for her.
Hey Misch,
Not sure what happened to the original, but here is what I wrote…
Caroline, here are the links, I would never put down/insult another sister (blond/blue black/white/purple) just to make a point, so please take in the info in the spirit of good will, just bc we think we know what we know it doesn’t mean the info is always accurate, all of our current inner ‘judgments’ could stand an re-examination from time to time, no?
http://www.stuffwhitepeopledo.blogspot.com/ and http://whyaminotsurprised.blogspot.com/ and I like this one for its name, it’s just celebrity info http://www.rhymeswithsnitch.blogspot.com/
Hope you enjoy the read(s) – Zen Lill
All is good…just another ‘a day in the life of…’
Peace…
All Opinions…everyone’s got ‘em.
Posted by Michelle Moquin on 10th October 2008
Ya know, it’s 7:00 in the morning….Do I need to start my day and wake up with this shit? But of course. I went to bed with it heavy on my mind and the last thing that I need to do is wake up to it this morning. But hello, here it all is in my face again. You can choose to read my blog or not. I have made a commitment to be here everyday. So be it.
People hating anonz; women saying ‘You turn me ooooon’. People liking me, people bitching at me….the white chick, if you want to call me white, okay…yeah I am to blame for this country going to the shitter too. All opinions…everyone’s got ‘em. Who cares right? Builds mettle eh?
Then I get a comment from someone…Sonia…on my ‘about’ page, “What a ‘boring’ site.”  Oh Okay…who the fuck are some of these people? Obviously Sonia, you haven’t been reading. ‘Boring’ is definitely not the description I would choose for my blog. ‘Enlightening’ maybe, ‘real’ maybe, ‘truthful’ maybe, ‘informative’ maybe….’disturbing’ maybe…but ‘boring’? No.
Oh and anonz is good at playing the game.  Yes, the Dow did drop below 8000. It opened at 7888. Congratulations anonz.
I’m outta here. I have really little to say this morning. You all can bitch, rant, love, hate, play, cheat…do whatever you want to do on my blog. I am done for the day. I can’t internalize this for one more day. I need a break from it all.
But really…my blog is here, as it has always been…for all of you to connect – so…carry on…
Peace out…
Gratefully your blog host,
michelle
That’s it.  As always, I appreciate your thoughts and comments whether it be on any or all of the above, or nothing that has to do with this post at all.  :)
Hi Doug: Well said, lets just hope America can pull through. After reading most of the comments yesterday…oh we still have a ways to go. Love the song though. J
Hi Tara:  I like your comment. You are correct about America having lots of potential, but like anything else that has potential, it means nothing, if it is not validated with concrete steps. We have some big shoes to fill.
Hello Ireland, John, Carey, Ohio: Grow up. Wipe the racist film from your eyes and look past the color of skin. Especially you Carey. You’re admitting that McCain would do no good for the country, yet you let the color of Obama’s skin, which has no affect whatsoever except in your small mind, keep you from voting in a great leader. What is wrong with this picture? You all would rather see the downfall of America than a black man in office. My advice: “Don’t let your mind wander; it’s too small to be out on its own. “
And Lindy: Your family owned slaves. What has that got to do with anything? Does your family have that much control over the choices that you make in life? Don’t you feel that any person should have equal opportunity in this world, or are you a racist too?
Roy: I have really nothing to say to you except from your one little comment you have represented yourself as not only a racist but a sexist too. Not a very good first impression.
Kathy: Happy to hear that. You seem like a level headed woman. And I’m sure that after everything you have heard come from McCain’s mouth and knowing how you feel about Palin, I don’t see how you could still consider McCain.
Hi ZL: Thanks for the phone call and for being there. I am disappointed too about all of the racist comments but sadly, not surprised. This country has a long way to go. Hey, finally caught up on your blog from the past few days. That video tripped me out. Oh…and thank you for informing me about cafe press!
Hey Shawn:  Ditto your words!
Hi Barbara: You would think. But I feel there are still women, many actually that still are influenced by their white hubbies and families. Ladies: You know who you are out there – smart up. Think for yourselves. Vote for the country.
This is a good place to end so I will. See ya tomorrow.
Gratefully your blog host,
michelle
