“Just Noticing”: Observations of a blogger

Good morning!

“Just noticing”….

  • I have three days of comments from all of you that I need to read. And yes, I do have a few things to say to some of you.

Zen Lill: I have barely had a moment to read comments from my readers, let alone cruise to peruse your blog or any other, sorry to say. Oh, and I have tried the grass fed Buffalo too. It’s not bad – it’s a tad dry for my liking, and a little more gamey,  but a good alternative to cow for some. I HOPE all is going well with you!

Social Butterfly: Thank for the invite. Next time e-mail me and let me know where you’re going and I’ll try to stop by, say hello and party with you and your girls.

And sorry for your posts getting stuck in “awaiting moderation”. I have a limit of 2 links per article. If you have more than 2 it will wait for me to approve it before it gets posted. This is to prevent spammers. If you want your article to be posted immediately, give the “www” address without the “http://” in front of it, otherwise you will need to wait until I check my blog, as I did in the later afternoon before it will be visible to all.  I HOPE that is helpful. Oh and I signed your petitions. Thanks for posting!

Janice: Well, at least you know for the future. I know it is a bit more pricey, but if you don’t mind me suggesting grass fed, free range meat. Stay away from the big farms who not only infect their animals but don’t treat them humanely.

Nancy: How you could’ve known is a mystery to me. Nobody should be blaming you for something that you had no control over. Your husband was fucking around, got caught, and you’re the victim. Once again, the innocent victim is blamed, just like some people in society blame the girl who got raped instead of blaming the rapist.

I just love the way men think they can have it the way they want it with no repercussions. This guy probably killed his wife because he could not imagine losing her and knowing that she would be fucking someone else but him. Men think it is perfectly alright to sneak around, but god forbid if he found his wife doing the same same. So how do we prevent that from happening? kill the bitch. Not every man would, but some do. Still…that’s not your issue. You are innocent in this.

Anonymous: I think surenough’s answer to your question was interesting and makes a valid point. Money used to never rank number one for me, although it is much more important to me than it used to be. However, although it’s very important to me, I can tell you it’s not my number one.

I’ve seen wealthy people who aren’t happy, who would give anything to find their true love to share their wealth with…and where no amount of money can cure them of their disease.

Happiness is very important, and ranks at the top for me. I view it this way…as long as I am happy, I must have everything else (money, health, love or whatever makes me happy) in that given moment, no matter how abundant or how little, otherwise I wouldn’t be happy. As long as I am happy, I know I have what I want – So to me happiness brings it all, and I want it all.

Although fame…fame is not big on my list. I want to be able to walk the street and keep my private life private if I want. So although fame may happen for me,  it is not that important to me, and therefore ranks last.

Lastly, if you believe in the law of attraction, here’s a little quote from The Secret Daily Teachings:

If you have “needing money” in your vibration, then you will keep attracting needing money. You have to find a way of being happy NOW, feeling good NOW, and being in joy NOW, without the money, because those great feelings are how you will feel with the money.

Money doesn’t bring happiness – but happiness brings money.

Joel: Well know we know what kind of man you are. I’m with Nikki. 25 is a good number to start. Men: Leave the women alone and go out and kill each other if you must kill.

Hector: I would love to change the subject about men being “dogs”. So give me a good reason to, instead of just asking to change the subject. I would love to say how fabulous men are. Some men are but many more are dogs, and I’m being nice  here. So how about the men changing…stop abusing women. You do that and we won’t have to call men dogs anymore. At least when it comes to the treatment of women. Other atrocities men commit…well we’ll have to deal with them one at a time. FYI: If you’r sick of hearing it, imagine how women feel.

Kelli: Happy to hear you have been a loyal reader. Thanks for your comments.  I liked the way the author began her write too. I wasn’t knocking the author, (I HOPE it didn’t come across that I was)…just making a point that the way she began her article, pointing out the way men have screwed up the world, drove the point home that yes, “women should rule the world.”

Zenali: I could not resist saying hello to you. Welcome to my blog. How’s it going up there? I HOPE you are well.

************

Now…I realize I am running late to post, so I must end my comments to all of you.

But in response to all of the chitchat on the blog about sex without condoms and the dangers, it inspires me to discuss the latest hot topic of Arnold, his wife, and the love child conceived obviously sans condom, as an example.

This one’s for you Connie, and anyone else interested in their well-being. Because believe me, no one and I mean no one is going to care more about your health than you.

This recent story about Arnold is about more than just a cheating husband that has unprotected sex that results in an illegitimate child. Albeit the child also suffers because it may never have the love and relationship of its true half brothers and sisters and other relatives of the cheating father. But there are other potentially lethal consequences to this incredibly selfish behavior of men.

Unprotected sex by men carries with it the potential to kill millions of women every year!

When will men learn to put a jacket on it? The fact that he was fucking his aide without a rubber means that Maria has every sexually transmitted infection that the aide has and whoever else the aide may have been fucking uncovered and whoever they etc, etc,.

That is the reason so many women die from cervical cancer. The men who are immune to many of the bacterial diseases they pick up from unprotected sex pass them along from woman to woman. The women may never show symptoms but the diseases will go into hibernation, all the while signaling abnormal grow in the cells of her uterus or cervix or other organs in her body until one day she discovers she has cervical or some other form of cancer.

Organized Medicine has known for decades that cervical cancer is caused by Chlamydia. They are aware that many of the diseases that women get are started by the various bacteria and viral strains that men pass sexually on to women. Many of the strains when re-introduced into an already affected woman mutate into sometimes unrecognized pathogens that bore through the woman’s body causing a myriad of diseases and ailments.

Men and religion conspire to keep these secrets from women. If women knew there would be less forgiving the husband who gets a another woman pregnant because she would know that this signals that she must be checked for bacterial and viral infections he may have passed on to her. The sad truth is the majority of the time she will never discover the damage he as done to her body until a decade or so has passed.

I bring this up because Arnold fathered this child 14 years ago. Just where does that leave Maria with respect to her health and a decade of unchecked bacteria and viral infections that he may have passed to her without her knowledge.

Can you see how dangerous this is for Maria and other women who are married to careless cheating husbands who don’t put a jacket on it?

New laws would have to be passed to deal with the fact that unprotected sex by men cause death and various degrees of medical assault upon their wives and girlfriends. How does one access the damage cause to the legal spouse of a man who is passing on lethal bacterial and viral organisms to her because he is having unprotected sexual encounters?

Men are not willing to face that dilemma so they get the medical profession like the AMA whose leadership has never met a bribe they wouldn’t take to lie by omission. Tens of millions of women die every year from diseases they would not have encountered but for the unprotected sex of their spouses or significant male partners.

As a woman when you discover your mate has been having unprotected sexual encounters consider this fact about chlamydia which is just one of the thousands of variations sexually transmitted microscopic deadly organism he may have passed on to you. If women knew how far would a “I’m sorry” go? It would go nowhere and mean nothing. And yet men still fuck without a condom all of the time.

CHLAMYDIA – Chlamydia is a major infectious cause of human genital and eye disease. Chlamydia infection is one of the most common sexually transmitted infectionsworldwide; it is estimated that about 1 million individuals in the United States are infected with chlamydia.[2]

C. trachomatis is naturally found living only inside human cells. Chlamydia can be transmittedduring vaginal, anal, or oral sex, and can be passed from an infected mother to her baby during vaginal childbirth.

Between half and three-quarters of all women who have a chlamydia infection of the neck of the womb (cervicitis) have no symptoms and do not know that they are infected.

In men, infection of the urethra (urethritis) is usually symptomatic, causing a white discharge from the penis with or without pain on urinating (dysuria).

Occasionally, the condition spreads to the upper genital tract in women (causing pelvic inflammatory disease) or to the epididymis in men (causing epididymitis). If untreated, chlamydial infections can cause serious reproductive and other health problems with both short-term and long-term consequences.

One would think the least the cheating bastard should do is to protect his wife or significant other from harm. But the selfish bastard are only concerned with their pleasure. So the Arnold Schartzneggers of the world go around infecting and killing women with their diseased dicks.

Meghan McCain: Part One

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 16th May 2011

Bookmark and Share

Good morning!

This is part one of a series I will be running for the next 3 days.

Part one: A man attacking a woman

Meghan McCain, Cindy McCain Fire Back At Glenn Beck

UPDATE: Meghan McCain responded to Glenn Beck’s mockery of her in a Thursday column for the Daily Beast.

“Clearly you have a problem with me, and possibly women in general, but the truth is, it’s 2011 and I heard your show on Fox was canceled,” McCain wrote. “Isn’t that an indication that the era of the shock jock pundit is over?…There really is no need to make something like my participation in a skin cancer PSA into a sexist rant about my weight and physical appearance, because I’m going to let you in on a little secret, Glenn: you are the only one who looks bad in this scenario, and at the end of the day you have helped me generate publicity for my skin cancer PSA, a cause that I feel quite passionate about.”

ORIGINAL STORY: Cindy McCain lashed out at Glenn Beck after he mimed vomiting over her daughter Meghan’s recent skin cancer PSA.

McCain was only one of the women featured in the ad, which compared not wearing sunscreen to being naked, and which showed McCain seemingly naked.

On Beck’s Wednesday show, he and his co-hosts spent over eight minutes mocking McCain. Beck pretended to vomit repeatedly (with detailed sound effects) while looking at McCain’s ad or even hearing her name.

“Put some extra clothes on,” he said. “Like, lots of extra clothes…has she thought about a burqa, just to be extra safe?”

McCain’s mother, who has suffered from skin cancer, was not happy, and she fired off this tweet on Wednesday afternoon:

Later, McCain even retweeted liberal pundit Roland Martin, who asked, “Actually, I’m wondering if the National Organization for Women will call out @GlennBeck’s sexism?”

This is the ad featuring Meghan McCain:

And this is Glenn Beck and his response to the ad:

Readers: Can you believe this video? That men would actually sit around and talk and act this way towards women? These are not men – they’re 12-year old boys. And they just don’t stop. And we know at least one of these men has daughters. What does that say? This is so god awful, it is simply disgusting.

Oh, but come on…we know there are women out there thinking, “It’s probably the woman’s fault -  she doesn’t know her value”. – this is so screwed up it’s unreal.

Anything to say, say it here. Blog me.

Holly: Yes, you were lied to. I stand corrected. I am not putting any alien on a pedestal. But to me, an alien lying is very different from most human lies so I see no comparison. It seems in the scenario, the lie was necessary. It was the only way to save himself/herself and the other beings, otherwise they would be dead.

And perhaps the alien was given an order to lie. What is the saying, “Mine is not to reason why…mine is but to do or die”?  So the alien did what he was told without question. My point is humans lie differently and daily, no matter what the reason – they could care less who they hurt or affect when they lie.

So yes you were lied to by the aliens, but it seems for good reason – they were in a desperate situation and they needed help. Time was of the essence. I’m sure that someone must’ve told you the truth afterwards, yes?

Aunianue: Have you seen any of those vampire movies? I HOPE you don’t mind me saying, but my guess is he’s not an alien; he’s a vampire.

Have a great Monday everyone!

Releasing Stress One Breath at a Time

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 5th May 2011

Bookmark and Share

Good morning!

I don’t know about all of you, but I need to find better ways to deal with the stress in my life. Let me rephrase…to release the stress in my life. I have a tendency to go, and go and go, and I am sure I am not alone on this.

I have found that breathing…correct breathing is super important. I have been breathing incorrectly my entire life which I discovered has had negative affects on my health. Did any of you read the Health Info article posted back in January: “Why sucking in your stomach harms your health” ? That write was a life changer for me. I have been holding in my tummy since I was very young. Why I got into the habit I really don’t know.

So I decided to do what the article suggested and became very conscious of my breath by practicing the exercises. It was a little bit of a challenge to be aware of my tummy, just let my tummy hang free,  and breathe deeply into my stomach instead of my chest. But I was committed to improving the way that I breathed because I knew that how I was breathing ( short, not deep breaths) was just not right.

What I didn’t realize was not only how much of a negative affect breathing incorrectly had had on my health all of these years, but that by breathing correctly, had a positive affect too.  This revelation occurred to me when I attended a dojo fit class that I had been taking.

As much as I loved the class, I seemed to have a more difficult time in the class than most of the other people. Prior to my new correct breathing, my friend Phil used to say to me during the class, “How’s it going Michelle? You’re lips are turning slightly blue. Take a few seconds to rest if you need.” And yes, I needed.

But one day I went to class and I had no problem keeping up. And the pain that I used to get in my hips never arrived. The class was easier. In fact it was almost effortless. I felt rejuvenated from the class instead of beat. Then I had a revelation: My breath. I was breathing correctly. And by breathing deeply into my tummy, my body was getting the oxygen it needed, and I was therefore feeling no pain. I can’t tell you how excited I was to discover this.

I immediately told my friend Phil, and we engaged in this wonderful conversation about breath. He is a 4th degree black belt, and has studied many martial arts modalities, as well as Qigong for many years. He taught me a standing Qigong meditation for the breath to reduce and release stress. Although the “stance” is not quite something you would want to do while waiting in line at the bank. :)

So while I like the standing meditation, it also does take a bit more time. So while perusing, the net I found an article that also talks about…

Releasing Stress One Breath at a Time

Ancient cultures the world over have recognized that well-being springs from a life lived in balance. But with the demanding pace of modern life, it seems almost impossible to achieve a balanced lifestyle. The American Institute of Stress reports that stress-related problems account for 75 to 90 percent of adult visits to primary care physicians.1 What then is the true cost to our health of living a stress-filled life, and what can we do about it?

While stress is named as one of our top health issues, it’s not actually new. Life expectancy was only 30 to 45 years of age in the early 20th century, when top stressors were how to avoid cholera or find sanitary conditions. Now with the promise of a longer life before us, we worry about juggling current work, financial and family pressures in the face of a shifting world.

If stress has always been around and always will be, wouldn’t it make sense to simply accept the fact and get used to it? The Mayo Clinic warns us that the impact of stress can sneak up on us in devastating ways, and if left unchecked can contribute to a number of health problems. The immediate symptoms of stress range from chest pain, headaches, upset stomachs, insomnia, social withdrawal, angry outbursts and lack of concentration, with long-term repercussions contributing to high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes.

Whether we are being chased by a saber tooth tiger, side-stepping a small pox outbreak, or are pursued by mounting deadlines, our bodies react in much the same way. And the good news is that many ancient tools are still powerful solutions regardless of the source of stress.

Since our earliest history, virtually every culture has valued breath as an important tool in bringing balance when life gets challenging. In ancient Greece, pneuma meant “breath” as well as “life” and “spirit,” and breath practice was seen as vital for both physical and emotional wellness. India developed an entire system of breath practices which is currently found in yoga and Ayurvedic medicine. Within these systems, the Sanskrit term prana refers to our physical breath, and the essence of life itself.

Ayurveda is one of the earliest medical traditions to emphasize the importance of breath on our health and well-being, with origins reaching back to the mid-second to mid-first millennium B.C. Arising from ancient India, Ayurveda is Sanskrit for “science/knowledge of longevity.” Today Ayurvedic medicine is being researched by the National Institute of Health, and the World Health Organization supports the integration of its practices into modern medicine.2

Within Ayurveda,3 breath is a major factor in supporting agni, or our “digestive fire.” This refers not only to absorbing the nutrients from food, but also metabolizing experiences, memories and emotions such as guilt, anger and pent-up sadness. Using the breath to support the healthy assimilation of undigested emotions moves us out of the stress response and into balanced living.

China is another culture that developed elegant breathing practices, and they exist as a branch of traditional Chinese medicine. And from Central Park in New York to the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, you can still glimpse the 4,000-year-old breath and movement forms of tai chi and chi gungbeing practiced in the early morning hours. And it’s clear that the stress-relieving benefits run deep, as a study published in the International Journal of Neuroscience revealed that these practices reduce blood pressure and stabilize the sympathetic nervous system.

Try these ancient stress relievers for yourself:

  • Balancing breath: Breathe in while silently counting 1-2-3-4, and hold your breath in for another four counts. Then fully exhale while silently counting 1-2-3-4, and pause for four additional counts before your next breath. Find a tempo that you can evenly maintain during all four parts of this breath cycle. Complete the series five to six times, or for about a minute. Then allow your breath to return its own natural rhythm.
  • Full-body breath: We’ve learned from science that the oxygen we breath nourishes every cell in our body. Using a full but natural breath, imagine the vitality from your breath flowing upward, bringing clarity to your mind and ease to your emotions. Exhale, directing your breath down through your body from head to toe, releasing tension along the way. Continue for one to three minutes, relaxing your body as you clear your mind.
  • Quality breath: Continue with full-body breathing, and add a word, such as “strength” or “calm,” that captures a quality you would like to feel or amplify. Silently repeat the word on each in- and out-breath. Continue for three minutes.

Because our breath travels with us wherever we go, it’s easy to incorporate mini stress-reliving sessions throughout the day. And the oxygen we get from breath practices fuels our vitality as well as releases stress. So whether you’re waiting in line at the market, riding the bus or finally home kicking off your shoes, they are all great times to take a breather.

Baraki: That and the fact that there are those that care more about oil than human lives…than women. Therefore they continue to do business with countries that abuse their women, all for the sake of the love of the dollar.

Dala: We live daily hearing, and for many, actually experiencing, the atrocities that men do to women. And they see nothing wrong with their abuse. Yet when men have the tables turned on them, they are seen begging for their lives, groveling to be saved. I have no compassion for them. I’m and eye for an eye kind of girl.  I pray too that I will alive to see that religion destroyed.

Mike: What you posted is so unbelievable. And people say that Bush was “vigilant”. After those examples, that is the last thing I would call Bush. I think he was too busy playing golf to be attentive in the protection of our country. Or he was too busy making money deals for his own benefit, with little regard for our country. Probably both.

Zen Lill: I should’ve posted the entire segment of that transcript. The transcript is exactly that…a transcript of the entire interview ( video that you saw)  word for word. What I hoping to articulate was that when you take out the “drama” of the visuals, one can just read it…as well as read between the lines of what is said, and what is not said. My point is that the media likes to dramatize the event, and make a victim out of Logan, playing to our emotional side so that we get so ramped up in emotion, that we neglect to question the details of the event. When reading the transcript, there is no emotion to be “seen”, so one can just read without being influenced by the visuals.

Orgun: You’re welcome.

Samangan: You’re welcome also. And I agree with you. Makes sense to me. If you can talk about that horrific night, you can certainly remember to thank the ones who saved you.

Tarin Kowt: Thanks for reposting that segment of the transcript. And great question. Me? I’d remember who saved me. But I would certainly not forget the “actions” of the men that brought me there either.

Speaking of me…I’m out of here.

Blog me.

Good morning!

Sometimes I get so focused on the atrocities that men commit that I forget to question consider the obvious. I found it so interesting when watching the video of Logan’s interview that I didn’t realize until I read the transcript that I was being manipulated by the media.

So how is that?

Notice how we are pulled into the drama, and how the media directs us into seeing Logan as the victim, and plays up that part. Now, don’t get me wrong, Logan was the victim here, and what she went through was horrifically tragic and unspeakable. But the media plays into our heart strings – It certainly played into mine yesterday. So much that I had to step away and get clarity.

Then I read the transcript and I noticed something. When Logan spoke about how the women put there arms around her. We know that was true because it was disclosed in my blog when this atrocity happened. But her statement that she felt she was saved because now it was about “their women”, is just not true. Here she is giving the men deference because she feels that it was about “their women” that saved her.

“…it wasn’t just about me anymore. It was about their women and that was what saved me, I think. The women kind of closed ranks around me. And I remember one or two, maybe three men standing with them…”

Do you think these men care about “their women’? No. The treat “their women” like this all of the time. These women saved Logan. She would be dead if it were not for the women covering her from head to toe to protect her. These women put their lives on the line for her. It has nothing to do with the men, except to save her from “their men”.

Why didn’t Logan recognize this? Why didn’t she say that these women saved her and they are heroines? Why do we have no information about the women that saved her? They should be recognized for their bravery….for putting their lives on the line.  At least by Logan.

They deserve recognition, and the badge of performing a heroic act. I truly beleive that if it were not for the women who surrounded her, and covered her body, Logan would be dead.

And lastly, notice how none of the men who were with Logan were harmed. If I had a body guard with me who was fighting to protect me, he better at least be as badly beaten up as I am trying to get to me to save my life. What does that tell you?

Remember, it was the Egyptian women who put their arms around her, and demanded that the soldiers come and stop the men. Why is no one focusing on that part of the story?

It’s so easy to get caught up in the drama of what happened, that we neglect to look at the fine details of what happened.

So…onto today’s write…

Obama Succeeded Where Bush Failed: Osama Bin Laden Rhetoric And Reality

WASHINGTON — As he announced the death of infamous terrorist Osama bin Laden on Sunday night, President Barack Obama struck an extraordinary contrast with his predecessor, George W. Bush.

That was to some degree unavoidable. Bush’s consistent failure to respond appropriately to bin Laden — as a potential threat, as a fugitive, or as a public enemy no. 1 — represents one of the greatest shortcomings of his presidency.

Obama has now succeeded where Bush failed. And it was impossible to hear Obama declare that “justice has been done” without thinking about how long it went undone.

But Obama also went out of his way to draw distinctions between how he approached the problem and how Bush did.

For instance, as the months and years went by after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks — and Bush’s initial bluster about capturing the al Qaeda leader “dead or alive” became a source of embarrassment — Bush began to insist that bin Laden himself wasn’t so very important.

“I truly am not that concerned about him,” Bush said at a White House press conference on March 13, 2002. And of course the following March, he shifted America’s focus to Iraq, which proved to be a gigantic diversion.

Obama took a different tack.

Shortly after taking office,” the president explained Sunday night, “I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network.”

Obama’s comments on Sunday night were clearly directed not just to the American public but to the world, evoking images of the horror of 9/11 in an effort to dampen any possible al Qaeda propaganda value from bin Laden’s death.

By contrast, the tactics and the rhetoric of Bush’s “war on terror” — most notably his decision to invade Iraq and the torture of Muslims in Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo and elsewhere had served as al Qaeda’s most potent recruiting tools.

And to a nation of people who, nearly ten years after the terrorist attacks in America, are overwhelmingly despondent about both of the wars launched by Bush, Obama was at long last able to deliver something that, at least for a moment, seemed like victory: “The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat al Qaeda,” he said.

Ironically, Obama’s announcement came eight years to the day after Bush famously and prematurely declared “Mission Accomplished” in Iraq after landing on the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier.

And if all that weren’t clear enough, Obama made an explicit appeal to set the clock back to those days of national and international unity right after Sept. 11 — before Bush took the nation to war in Iraq, subverted historical prohibitions against torture and domestic surveillance, and used fear of terror to achieve partisan goals.

“[T]onight, let us think back to the sense of unity that prevailed on 9/11,” Obama said. “I know that it has, at times, frayed.”

As Obama noted, the U.S. was virtually a different country then.

“On September 11, 2001, in our time of grief, the American people came together,” the president reminded the nation on Sunday night. “We offered our neighbors a hand, and we offered the wounded our blood. We reaffirmed our ties to each other, and our love of community and country. On that day, no matter where we came from, what God we prayed to, or what race or ethnicity we were, we were united as one American family.”

The Bush record on bin Laden, of course, starts with him failing to prevent the attacks in the first place. As has been exhaustively documented by now, during the summer of 2001, his White House waved off repeated warnings of an imminent attack from former counterterrorism director Richard A. Clarke and then-CIA director George Tenet.

Bush and his national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, were said to be more focused on their pet issue, missile defense, and the hunt for a reason to attack Iraq. Bush, according to Bob Woodward, said he wasn’t interested in “swatting flies.”

The unsuccessful attempts to engage Bush culminated in a briefing he got while vacationing on his Texas ranch. As investigative reporter Ron Suskind reported in his book, “The One Percent Doctrine,” an unnamed CIA operative flew to Crawford to call the president’s attention personally to the now-famous Aug. 6, 2001, memo titled “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.

“All right,” Suskind reported Bush saying after hearing out the operative. “You’ve covered your ass, now.”

Former President Bill Clinton in 2006 notably complained that he came close to killing bin Laden in a 1998 missile strike, while Bush and the “right wingers … had eight months to try [before 9/11]. They did not try. I tried. So I tried and failed. When I failed, I left a comprehensive anti-terror strategy and the best guy in the country, Dick Clarke, who got demoted.”

Bush’s post-9/11 swagger may go down as one of history’s worst examples of false bravado. Afterthe invasion of Afghanistan, the Taliban government quickly fell and al Qaeda retreated into the hills. But in December 2001, when bin Laden was unquestionably within reach of U.S. troops in the mountains of Tora Bora, Bush didn’t pull the trigger.

Then for more than three years, Bush treated bin Laden a lot like the wizards in the Harry Potter books treat He Who Must Not Be Named.

In the summer of 2005, Bush started invoking bin Laden again — but this time, to win support for his Iraq policy, which was very much on the ropes.

“Hear the words of Osama bin Laden,” Bush said, “‘This Third World War is raging’ in Iraq.”

By 2006, on the stump for his fellow Republicans, Bush was citing bin Laden extensively. The president cast bin Laden as the oracular leader of a global movement, and warned of the possibility of an Islamic caliphate “stretching from Europe to North Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia” — an unsubstantiated fantasy with only one thing going for it: It served the political agendas of both men.

Meanwhile, in an Oval Office session that same month, Bush told to a group of conservative columnists that focusing on bin Laden didn’t fit with his military plans. Putting “100,000 of our special forces stomping through Pakistan in order to find bin Laden is just simply not the strategy that will work,” he explained.

Yet, in his attempts to persuade the voting public of the dangers it faced, Bush gave bin Ladenexactly the attention he seemed to crave.

After the 2008 presidential election, during which politicians from both parties publicly renounced him, Bush finally admitted some regret in an ABC News interview.

“Do I wish we had brought Osama bin Laden to justice? Sure,” Bush said. “But he’s not leading a lot of parades these days.”

Bush stalwarts are now trying to make the case that their president deserves some, if not most, of the credit for dispatching bin Laden.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor on Sunday night called bin Laden’s death “a victory for the United States and a tremendous achievement for the military and intelligence professionals who carried out this important mission.” As for Obama’s role? “I commend President Obama who has followed the vigilance of President Bush in bringing Bin Laden to justice,” Cantor said in a statement.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney similarly credited “the military and intelligence professionals who carried out this important mission,” citing their “tireless work since 9/11.” It was those years of effort, the majority of which were during the Bush administration, that “made this achievement possible, and enabled us to capture or kill thousands of al Qaeda terrorists and many of their leaders,” Cheney said in a press release.

A small group of young fans gathered outside Bush’s house in Dallas Sunday night with a sign that read, “President Obama forgot to say… THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH.”

Bush himself issued a brief statement congratulating Obama and declaring, “[t]he fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.”

Readers: All I want it say is that I am tired of hearing the rhetoric surrounding Bush and his “vigilance” in trying to capture bin laden, that somehow helped Obama capture and kill him.  We’re not in a race here where Bush somehow got to the mid point of a race and handed Obama the baton to bring it home.

No. Obama was not in a race with Bush. Obama was in his own game and had nothing to do with Bush and his game plan  - Speaking of…what plan did Bush have? Reading the above article, he barely had a game plan, wasn’t “concerned”, and it certainly  didn’t make it a priority.

Capturing bin laden was a “top priority” for Obama. And he and his team did it without any help from Bush, and his “vigilance”.

That’s it for me today. Your turn. Blog me your thoughts on whatever.
