San Diego UFO Photographed Over Historical Edgemoor Barn

What exactly did Ellen Henry photograph in the sky above Santee, Calif., on May 7?

“It was clear and certainly not a bug,” Henry told local ABC TV affiliate News 10.

Henry is a member of the Santee Historical Society (SHS) located in San Diego County and, according to the SanteePatch, was taking pictures of a historical building, the Edgemoor Barn.

“I was at the Edgemoor property, in the middle of the day, to take pics of the barn to update the SHS barn logo. I was constantly looking up and around the area, including the sky’s background, so I can get it just right, and not at anytime did I see anything in the sky or heard a sound of an aircraft,” she said.

It wasn’t until after she took the picture that Henry realized her camera had captured something else that she hadn’t previously seen.

“I noticed a ‘speck’ on my LCD screen after I took the shot to check for clarity, and only realized it wasn’t a speck when I downloaded it on my computer.”

The Edgemoor Barn — now a museum — just celebrated its 100th birthday. It was once part of a hospital facility and has developed a reputation for paranormal activity, including alleged ghost sightings.

“The barn sits under several flight paths,” said Janet Kwak in her on-air 10News report. “We called Gillespie Field and MCAS Miramar (Marine Corps Air Station), but neither could offer an explanation.”

“There is no way this was a commercial aircraft,” Henry said. “I would have heard it, especially as low as it seemed to be. Someone did mention perhaps it was a drone. However, I have not seen any drones that were round or oval, and lacking wings, rudders or propellers — even the drone that looks like a fly has wings.”

Another unusual thing happened: Henry reports that right after she snapped the UFO, her camera mysteriously stopped working.

…If we keep demanding cheaper prices on the clothing that we buy…if we keep supporting stores such as Walmart, Target, Primark, Matalan and Mango, etc., we are having a direct effect on the livelihood of women garment workers. Team that up with a factory owner who cares more about his bottom line than the safety and well-being of his workers, and you get a catastrophe such as the recent one in Bangladesh.

BANGLADESH: Corruption harms women garment workers in building collapse

(WNN) Dhaka, BANGLADESH, SOUTH ASIA: In a city where work comes hard, the often grueling work of a woman garment workers, including migrant garment workers, in Dhaka can be filled with unseen danger. In the past 7 months the Tazreen Fashions building trapped mostly women textile workers as doors were locked shut killing 100 of the women who could not escape when fire broke out. The most recent danger in a different 8 story Rana Plaza Building collapse has killed over 380 garment workers in what has been described as the worst industrial accident for workers throughout Bangladesh. Over 2,220 people have been trapped in the rubble with injuries flooding medical facilities.

Rescue efforts for the survivors have been overwhelming and difficult as substandard equipment was the only equipment available and fire broke out during the recent rescue efforts out causing more deaths. Hopes for finding anyone else alive has at this point grown slim says the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Following his arraignment, the owner of the collapsed multi-floor building, Mohammed Sohel Rana, left the courtroom in Dhaka yesterday on his way to jail after receiving charges surrounding corruption with negligence, illegal construction and forcing workers to work under duress. To protect him from an intensifying protesting crowd Sohel Rana wore a police riot helmet and a bulletproof vest as he left the court and walked to a vehicle on his way to jail under police escort. He is one of 8 other people connected to the daily operations of the Rana garment factory who were arrested after the dramatic collapse of the building took place.

Ignoring earlier warnings by inspectors that the illegal building housing thousands of garment workers was unsafe, critical cracks in the structure were discovered and reported by inspectors. But no direct action nor response followup ever happened.

Human rights advocates call the act an industry-wide endangerment and abuse of workers, as well as a government oversight.

“Reforms should include a drastic overhaul of the government’s system of labor inspections and an end to government efforts to thwart the right of workers to unionize,” said Human Rights Watch.

In an Bangladesh industry that has brought in almost 9 Billion dollars, today’s average pay for a women garment worker is $38 (USD) per month. Long hours, that can include unsafe 24 hour work cycles, along with few breaks and other work allowances have been found.

“All the factory buildings visited except one are over-crowded, congested and poorly ventilated. The floor space per worker is small and stairways are narrow. In one factory, bundles of cloth and cartons were found on the staircases,” outlined Dhaka University associate professor and researcher Momtaz Jahan. “The workers work under hundreds of powerful electric bulbs for the whole time of their work. It was observed that, the sound of the operation of 100-200 sewing machines in the same work floor exposed the workers to high noise that exceeded tolerable level.”

Other sharp criticism of officials at top levels in the Bangladesh government include their refusal to allow an international rescue country teams to go in and assist immediately when the collapse occurred as United Nations sponsored INSARAG -International Search and Rescue Advisory Group was turned away.

In an area especially prone to earthquakes it is thought that government officials, as well as building owners, have looked the other way on enforcing building codes for a long time that might otherwise have saved lives. In 2012 only 18 government inspectors had been issued to work to inspect approximately 100,000 factory buildings in Dhaka outlines Human Rights Watch.

“This company [Rana Plaza Factory] has to take action immediately to support the families of the people who were killed and injured,” said London based advocates War on Want Campaign and Policy Director Ruth Tanner, who was in Dhaka on the scene.

As giant retailers juggle a history of buying from Bangladesh companies like U.K. based clothing distributor Primark, along with The Gap, Walmart and subsidiaries under The Gap like Banana Republic and Old Navy, no corporations to date have been implicated with any direct connection to the Rana Plaza Factory operations.

Canada based child clothing distributors Loblaw as well as Primark have recently made statements promising that families of the catastrophe will be receiving financial assistance through their corporate channels, especially children who have become orphans.

Because of an increasing rate of garment worker deaths affecting hundreds of women as well as men, the corporate clothing push is now on for greater managed transparency and integrity with partnerships for Bangladeshi manufacturing practices and conditions.

But management efforts against corruption in Bangladesh have a long way to go say global advocates for women garment workers.

In a recent public release The Gap said it did not have any connection to the Rana Plaza operations. Last month the corporation pledged 33 Million to improve safety with inspectors to its facilities by hiring independent contractors working in Bangladesh. Walmart is doing the same with 1.8 Million that is now going for factory safety management.

“Given the long record of worker deaths in factories, this tragedy was sadly predictable,” said Brad Adams, Asia director at Human Rights Watch recently. “The government, local factory owners, and the international garment industry pay workers among the world’s lowest wages, but didn’t have the decency to ensure safe conditions for the people who put clothes on the backs of people all over the world,” he continued.

Venus Williams Clothing Line EleVen Showcased During NYC Preview

NEW YORK — You know the whole thing about a woman’s prerogative to change her mind? Venus Williams can’t do it – at least not when it comes to her tennis wardrobe.

She already knows that come August at the U.S. Open, she’ll be wearing a black floral tennis dress, and for tournaments earlier in the summer, it’ll be pink python prints. Williams wears almost exclusively her own line called EleVen, which she has helmed since 2007. Both looks are part of the fall collection, which Williams offered a preview of on Monday at a Manhattan photo studio. The spring collection that goes into stores later this month has some tie-dye prints, nautical stripes and a more painterly watercolor floral.

“When we are designing, I am narrowing down which ones I’m wearing. I have got to plan ahead. … The retailers want to know right away which ones I’ll be wearing,” she says. This decisiveness works for her and her busy life, she adds. “I have to be effective with my time.”

Last week, she was in South America playing in the Brazil Cup. Williams maintains a full schedule of tennis tournaments and appearances, although she did announce that she was diagnosed in 2011 with an autoimmune disease that slows her down.

Eventually, she’d like to take all of her tennis outfits – including the “grandma floral” skirt her mother made her for her first pro match when she was only 13 years old – and join them with the on-court wardrobe of her sister Serena for some sort of museum exhibit.

Williams, 32, says she absorbs trend reports and keeps her eye on the runways for ideas, but some things just don’t translate to athletic clothes: the Victorian boudoir trend, for example. “Yeah, that one, with all the lace, didn’t work for sport, and I’m not sure about menswear, either.”

Designing EleVen has also made her more aware of what’s in her closet, including a lot of white, black, green and floral prints. She steers pretty clear of purple and magenta, and it took her a while to warm up to red, orange and turquoise, but, Williams says, her collection can’t be only her favorite colors and styles. “I’m loosening up.”

It’s that time of year again, already – the Oscars are on tonight – anybody watching? I can’t say that I have watched many movies this year but I did catch a few; Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty being two that I enjoyed. The Life of Pi, not so much. Although I thought the cinematography was good, the movie in my opinion didn’t leave any lasting impression except I was a little bothered by the ending. I will watch some of it this evening, but it is really the afternoon red carpet that will capture my interest today. I love seeing the gorgeous gals in their gowns.

And since we’re on the topic of fashion, did you hear about the “Intimacy dress?” A futuristic looking little dress that once a girl gets turned on, the dress becomes transparent. The more aroused she gets, the more the revealing the dress. Let me guess – a man designed this dress – right? Is it that obvious? Of course. Who else would design a dress that exposes what a woman is feeling? Who else would design a dress that enables the man to get a free peak to check out the goods?

‘Intimacy 2.0′ Dress Turns Transparent When You Get Sexually Aroused

You don’t get to choose whether this dress is revealing or not — your carnal instincts do.

The ‘Intimacy 2.0′ dress, designed by Daan Roosegaarde, is getting a rise out of the fashion world because its opaque fabric becomes transparent when you get aroused. Finally, all the cards will be on the table. You’ll have your date saying, “Is your dress disappearing, or are you just happy to see me?”

The already barely-there garment features ribbons of leather and opaque “e-foils,” which can detect the model’s heartbeat, the Daily Mail reports.

“Intimacy 2.0 is a fashion project exploring the relation between intimacy and technology,” Roosegaarde said. “Technology is used here not merely functional but also as a tool to create intimacy as well as privacy on a direct, personal level which in our contemporary tech society is becoming increasingly important.”

In other words, you’re going to be showing a lot more than sideboob when you dance, walk briskly, witness a fender-bender, eat a grape, or engage in any other mildly heart-thumping activity.

Another caveat: Though Roosegaarde has said he’s “in talks” to produce a ready-to-wear line of Intimacy clothing, the current dress is only a prototype and a project.

Would you wear this dress? Me? Absolutely not. I prefer to be in control of how much I reveal to my date – that speaks for how much skin I reveal and how much interest I have in him is revealed, and when it is revealed.

I realize we’re having fashion fun here, but can you imagine? Let’s set the scene:

I am out on a date having a good time…the chemistry is there and I am feeling like I really like the man I’m with. The conversation is good, we find we have common interests…perhaps this can go somewhere. The evening is over, you walk me to my car. Perhaps I give you a kiss good night. I feel that wonderful feeling inside – the potential for more but not likely tonight, as I am just getting to know you. However, because I am wearing the “Intimacy Dress”, it starts to become transparent.

Hmm….my date is checking me out (and perhaps everyone else in eye’s view), thinks I want more and starts to move in. I say “No, I’m not ready to do more than this.” He says “c’mon you know you want it.” And next thing you know, he tries to rape me.

Okay, so that is the extreme. But really, women have enough problems with rape and men accusing them of “wanting it”…”asking for it”. Now we have a dress that says we’re definitely interested, and he is going to know it. Does that give him a reason to move in on you and assume that you want it NOW? No, but I can just hear the media saying, “Well…your dress did turn transparent.” “Why did you wear a dress that would become transparent letting the man know you were turned on if you didn’t want to have sex?” “This wasn’t rape, she was clearly (no pun intended) excited.” Oh…the comments could go on and on.

No thank you. Believe me, I don’t need a dress to tell a man I am excited and I want to be with him. He will know when I am excited and when I am ready. I’ll pass on the dress, thank you very much. What woman wouldn’t?

But, hey, I’ve got a better idea. How about a pair of men’s “Intimacy Pants” – pants that becomes transparent when the man gets turned on? Then we could at least see the size of his package before we decide if we’re interested or not. Only a girl would design something like this, right? :) I think that’s fair don’t you? I mean if men can get a peak when we’re turned on, the least they could do is don on a pair of pants that tells us what’s hanging. Hahaha! No surprises – we can learn up front what we’re always wondering. I love that idea.

C’mon men, would you don on a pair for your date?
