Good morning!

I really don’t like it when I can’t interact with my readers but that is how it is sometimes. Yesterday, I slept in late, and this morning, I have an early call, 7 am. Ugh. You think I’d be used to it by now…I am an early bird, love the morning light, but getting up @ 5:45 is definitely something I am not used to….and where is this light that I love so much? It is pitch dark out.

Anyway…So although I have very little time this morning, at least I will get to say hello. Keeping it brief. No write; just a hello.

G: I wish you had. It is a rarity that someone actually tells me to my face that they read my blog. All evening only one person came up to me to tell me they read my blog. I can tell you it was a thrill and even more so because she isn’t a close friend, and I had no idea she read it. I don’t know what the big deal is that my friends never discuss my blog with me. Oh well…C’est la vie.

Anon: I had to laugh at the comment your husband made. How silly is that. Did he look stupid when he said it? :)

Anonymous: Yes, I know that you know that I know. :)

Alexander Hamilton: Are you still leading that girl on? I guess the little head overriding the big head happens to the best of men. :) Although I have to say Bita may not ever have the chance to be a girlz, she certainly must be having the time of her life with you and Adam. I certainly wish I could time travel with the two of you and see history as it is happening, not to mention the future. How strange it must be for you. I have to ask…are you mostly happy that Adam has brought you out  of the past to time travel with him? Kind of a silly question…we know the alternative. Still, as you pointed out, it is different for you than Adam or Bita.

As always, I enjoy hearing from you. Please give my best to Adam. I miss talking to him. I hope someday to be able to speak to you. Perhaps I already do in another time.

Bob: Naughty…naughty…

N: No doubt there was. Did you have fun and are you happy that you did?

Eve: Haha! Good one. Not much he can say there.

Melissa: Thanks for the post. I only got half way through the article but hopefully I will have time to finish it.

Darryl: Hmm…if you knew I went to LA that must mean we kept in touch after Redwood or you were stalking me. Just kidding. Yes, my excursion Saturday night was brief and time flew. I wish you had said hello. I wish I could’ve said hello to many more. Oh well…thanks for checking in with me here. (Thanks C for introducing Darryl to my blog) I look forward to you becoming a loyal fan and I hope you’ll comment again.

Zen Lill: I did thank you! I can’t believe you haven’t attended one reunion. You are missing out girl. I too keep in touch with many peeps that I want to see but it is so much fun seeing everyone together and running into those that you don’t get the opportunity to see.  I encourage you to go.

Although I was a cheerleader my freshman year and I was on the track team, as far as the “jocks” being my core peeps – No they weren’t. Not at all. My core group was a mix; I had many friends in a few different groups which is part of the reason why I loved High School so much.

In regards to Doug sitting this one out, Doug has been to all of my past reunions. He knows my peeps. He decided not to go because he wanted me to have a good time just hanging and reminiscing with my old friends. Everyone knows I’m married and I had the jewels to back it. :) No mystery and intrigue there. Doug even helped me get dressed in my “you can look but you can’t touch” dress. They did…and they didn’t. :)

The blog is now open for comments. And the discussion is wide open. Take it where you want it to go.

PEACE OUT….

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.

Whatever Wednesday

Good morning! Well…I must begin with how much I have missed being here. Did you miss me? :) I had some business and personal matters that I needed to attend to which left me very little time for anything more than to post an article. Not exactly my idea of fun blogging. Happy to see that all of you carried on though – cool. So…Wha’ats up?

I have been perusing the net all morning reading, but I am in one of those moods where nothing is grabbing my attention. I’m having an “off” day, what can I say? Too much on my mind and nothing on my mind. Yes, I know I’m contradicting myself but that is how it is this morning. I don’t have the writing bug. I guess that’s what happens when I take a few days off.

However, I do have some pics to share with you that made me smile.

Karen: Lucky you, that you got to meet President Obama. I found this photo that was taken at Xavier University – Could this be you perhaps? This lovely woman looks just as excited as you must’ve been. I’m envious. I would love to meet our president and the first lady.

Hi Harris: How are you? I HOPE you are feeling less stressful. I read something about stress this morning,  and I have just spent the last 15 minutes trying to locate it and have come up empty handed. Bummer. I really wanted to share it with you. If I find it, I will post it. Take care. Thanks for posting the article.

And for you animal lovers, I just couldn’t resist putting this photo in my blog today:

Isn’t this just the cutest?

Surrogate mum Katjinga, an eight-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback, took on motherly duties for grunter Paulinchen – a tiny pot-bellied pig – and seems to be taking the adoption in her stride. Lonely Paulinchen was luckily discovered moments from death and placed in the care of the dog who gladly accepted it as one of her own. Thankfully for the two- week old mini porker,  Katjinga fell in love with her at first sight and saved her bacon.

The two animals live together on a huge 20-acre farm in Hoerstel , Germany , where Katjinga’s owners, Roland Adam, 54, and his wife Edit, 44, a bank worker, keep a pair of breeding Vietnamese pigs.

Property developer Roland found the weak and struggling piglet after she was abandoned by the rest of her family one evening after she was born. He said: “The pigs run wild on our land and the sow had given birth to a litter of five in our forest. “I found Paulinchen all alone and when I lifted her up, she was really cold.

I felt sure some local foxes would have taken the little pig that very night so I took it into my house and gave her to Katjinga. “She had just finished with a litter of her own, who are now 10 months, so I thought there was a chance she might take on the duties of looking after her. “Katjinga is the best mother you can imagine. She immediately fell in love with the piggy. Straight away she started to clean it like it was one of her own puppies. “Days later she started lactating again and giving milk for the piggy. She obviously regards it now as her own baby.” Mum of the Year”?   Quite possibly.

And this ones is for all of you art lovers…The “chalk guy” is back…love this one…

He spent five days, working 12 hours a day, to create the 250 square metre image of the crevasse, which, viewed from the correct angle, appears to be 3D. He then persuaded passers-by to complete the illusion by pretending the gaping hole was real.

‘I wanted to play with positives and negatives to encourage people to think twice about everything they see,’ he said. ‘It was a very scary scene, but when people saw it they had great fun playing on it and pretending to fall into the earth. ‘I like to think that later, when they returned home, they might reflect more on what a frightening scenario it was and say, “Wow, that was actually pretty scary.”

Fred: I was quite busy; it happens sometimes :) And yes, I look forward to it too. Thanks for saying so.

Xur: I was amused when I first read your comment. It reminded me of one of my fave Dr. Seuss books “Horton Hears A Who”. I HOPE all is well now.

Hey Zen Lill: What about me? I’d love to be included in that “life changing” experiment. Can I be one of the lucky few?

Victor: This one is for you.

Robert: As usual you are spot on.

Readers: That is it for today. Blog this BABE.

Peace out….

Flap Your Lips Friday

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 13th August 2010

Bookmark and Share

Good morning. I don’t really have a topic for today…just going to ramble a bit, flap my lips, and say a few things that are on my mind. I hope you don’t mind. If you do, tough. :)

Ruth posted an article the other day that I hope everyone reads. It was in regards to cancer causing utensils that are being made in China and sold in places such as Walmart. Well, I have been privy to information about other dangerous products made in China that we use everyday too.

Plastic that have been manufactured in China and claim to be microwavable and safe, are simply not safe. This includes plastic containers that you dish your food into, to heat it up, or plastic containers that come packaged with food that claim they are safe to microwave: They are lying – they are not safe. These are cancer causing containers that when microwaved, the plastic is released into your food, which means you are ingesting it and absorbing it into your system. Not good. Avoid all plastics from China that claim they are microwave safe.

I watched Oprah the other day, and although it was a repeat show from last January, it is still relevant today, and even more so. Michael Pollan of Food Inc. (the movie), as well as many other foodies were featured on the show. If there is one thing that I got from the show it is this: The power of our food changing, meaning better healthier food for us, the animals, and the planet, is in the hands of the people.

We as a society can change the way food is raised and manufactured if we change the way we eat. We need to choose and eat consciously with the mantra in our heads: “Quality over quantity”. For example, most people eat meat 4-5 times a week. How about only eating meat 1-2 days and eating organic or grass-fed, free-range etc. Make a conscious effort to think and care more about your body, the animals, our planet.

Yes, organic etc., is more expensive, but again think of “quality over quantity”. Additionally think about ti this way: You pay for it now, so you won’t pay for it later in the form of health bills. Treat your body good; treat it to the best – you only have one. More and more people are getting sick because of what they are ingesting. There is so much evidence to support this it is sick. If you haven’t been reading the articles that I or my readers have been posting, then I suggest you go back and read the archives – there is a ton of good information.

Hmm..what else? Oh yeah…so Ken Buck defeated Jane Norton in the Colorado primary for GOP for Senate. A few weeks ago Buck’s gave a response to Norton’s ad, which he claims questioned his manhood: “Vote for me because I do not wear heels.” Norton’s ad suggested that he “man up”; she didn’t suggest he shouldn’t be elected because he is a man.  To me, Buck’s “heel” response tells me that he believes women shouldn’t be in politics. All I can say is I hope Democrat Michael Bennet kicks his butt. We have enough bullshit, to deal with from the republican party; we don’t need Ken Buck’s bullshit, not to mention the “real” bullshit on his cowboy boots – seriously he claims he does, and is proud of it.

And a quote from Religious Right Bryan Fischer: “Permits should not be granted to build even one more mosque in the United States of America, let alone the monstrosity planned for Ground Zero. This is for one simple reason: each Islamic mosque is dedicated to the overthrow of the American government.”

I’m with Herat who chimed in the other day. It’s too bad that the plight of Muslim women wasn’t the reason for not allowing mosques to be built in the U.S. How cool would that be if we took a small step in that direction? How cool would it be if someone stood up (a male preferably) and said, “Permits should not be granted to build even one more mosque in the United States of America, let alone the monstrosity planned for Ground Zero. This is for one simple reason: Women are treated as second class citizens and, we shouldn’t allow them to practice their religion until women are treated equally.”

That’s it for me. I want to hear what’s on your mind. Flap your lips, it’s Friday – Blog me.

Robert: It is just like the bigots: They don’t care what color your skin is as long as it is white; they too don’t care how much money you make or don’t make, they consider themselves “Better”.  Your successes don’t mean much should you not be blessed with white skin. Once it again, with whites, it all comes down to the color of one’s skin that makes one “better”, not giving any deference to the person who is actually better “at something”, a talent, no matter what color their skin is.

Andrea: That is so sad. I have a feeling this will not be the last of it.

Zen Lill: I guess we’re on the same page. Good. I sent an e-mail to Dr. Ehlers too. I’ll let you know when I hear from her too.

Wambui: I will let you and the rest of my readers know the details of the “aXe” as soon as I get a reply from Dr. Ehlers.

Peace out…

Hellooo…

How is everyone? I had a very busy weekend. I worked hard and played hard and this morning it was tough climbing out of bed, when I so wanted to sleep for another hour. No complaints…just stating the facts.

I’m just going to check in with you all today. No topic; just me. There were a few comments that I wanted to address, and today is the day.

First of all, loved the dialogue between SP101 and all of you.

Harris:  Sorry to hear my readers are encroaching on your privacy and fun. I have to say though, that I do get a kick out of the fact that you met via my blog. I am sure that you and Evelyn are still enjoying each other in spite of it all. :)

Kris: I applaud it too. Water is our life source. We can’t do enough to ensure its purity. Did I say “purity”? Okay…well at least so that it is drinkable.

Raina: Maybe next time. Zen Lill and I haven’t seen each other in 2 years. We thought a little privacy was in order. And I will ditto Zen Lill’s words and give gratitude to those of you who honored it and gave us the space to chat away freely and uninterrupted.

Bob: Are you the poet behind these, or are you gathering them from somewhere? They are cute and quite witty.

Evelyn: Hmm…well it’s one thing having the crowd at your fingertips and in control, and another thing when you have strangers invading your private space. I guess Harris is getting a dose of “celebrity paparazzi” and not liking it. I don’t blame him.

Readers: How about giving Evelyn and Harris a little bit of space to enjoy themselves without gawking eyes – okay?

Leroy: As much as I don’t like your bigotry, I am happy that you are seeing the true colors of the republicans, and their actions are making you think…making you take different actions, a different stance. I’m glad to see it happening. It give me HOPE that others will open their eyes and follow suit too.

As a few readers have said, “It is a start.” All I can add is, remember that Obama is white too. If he’s doing it for his own kind, he’s doing it for the blacks and the whites. But I believe Obama doesn’t see color. In my opinion, he is making this country a better place for all.

Lastly, I have to agree with Victor: Dine on something other than FOX and lighten up on the racial slurs. And as Doug said, please tell all of your friends of your new insights to your failed party.

Brad: I really hope that wasn’t the reason why you chose Hasting Law School. It seems you are definitely having fun here – All I can say is I wish you luck in school too.

Judy: Interesting article. Remember when car alarms were first installed? They were a big thing and a pretty good warning that people paid attention to. Until every time a car got bumped slightly or a heavy wind activated it. Then people didn’t take the alarm seriously, and stopped paying attention. In fact hearing a car alarm go off in the middle of the night was a nuisance. Now we have that same thing occurring with alarms that are much more serious warnings. Thanks for posting.

Mandy, Joyce and Hank, and all of those interested in seeing what Doug looks like:  Click on Doug’s name and it will go to his blog site where you can see his photo. He is easy on the eyes to say the least. :)

Got to run – Peace out.

Wall Street Reform: Let’s Get It Passed

Good morning!

First of all, thank you for all of your congratulations, kind compliments, and kudos. People love being recognized, appreciated, honored for their dedication and work…and I am no different. Thank you.

So even though there are days when I don’t hear from you and I feel like no one is reading, I know that you are. And when I do hear from you, I have mixed emotions:  Excitement that people “got in”, and panicked thoughts of “Oh no…look at all of the comments, and I’m in such a rush this morning. Ugh…I hope not too many readers addressed me personally.” :)

But I have to say, I truly love seeing and reading your comments. You inspire me and drive me to get up in the morning and write, when there are days when I just don’t feel like it.  And when I feel like I just want to stay slipped in between the sheets and slumber, I remember that I have readers who not only count on my daily write, but who I count on daily for inspiration. So keep it coming.

And to those of you who attempt and continue to attempt to knock me down, you’ll have to try a lot harder to put this girl to rest.  So I thank you too, for your unkind words, your bold bashing, and everything in between, as you have made me a stronger, more resilient, tough girl, who can take it better than I ever imagined I would and could. You too are an inspiration, and a driving force that keeps me going. So keep it coming.

As far as me keeping it going today, I’m going to keep it short. Here’s the latest from our president, and he’s asking for our help again. Let’s get Wall Street reform passed, okay?

Michelle –

Colorado’s senators are gearing up to cast their last votes on Wall Street reform tomorrow. Right now, we believe we might have just enough votes to pass this historic legislation.

But we won’t know until the final vote is cast — and we’re only certain of one thing: it could come down to one single senator.

That’s how close this is — and that’s how urgently we need your help.

Your senators, Mark Udall and Michael Bennet, have been fighting alongside President Obama to pass this bill — and they need to know you appreciate their leadership.

Call your senators now and let them know you support Wall Street reform — and then make sure to let us know what they said.

Call Sen. Udall at (202) 224-5941

Call Sen. Bennet at (202) 224-5852

We’re on the verge of passing the boldest overhaul of the financial system since the Great Depression.

Wall Street reform will bring more economic security to consumers by forcing credit card companies, mortgage companies, and predatory lenders to stop exploiting consumers with hidden fees and pages of fine print.

It will create a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency — with a responsibility to protect all of us. And it will ensure that taxpayers will never again be asked to bail out the big banks that are “too big to fail.”

Reform is facing one last showdown in the Senate. Lobbyists for the big banks are doing everything they can to stop this legislation before it lands on President Obama’s desk.

Readers: As always, you’ve done a great job in the past.  Please do what you can now. Thanks. Note: If you don’t live in Colorado, make sure that you change your location and call your Senators.

Peace & Love: “Live it, Give it!”…

…always.

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my ‘loyal’(?) readers.

Gratefully your blog host,
