Monday Morning Chitchat

Good morning!

Happy Monday everyone! Okay so life has been busier than I can handle at the moment, so unfortunately parts of my life suffer and don’t get the attention they deserves. My blog is one of them. But hey, I’m catching up.

Social Butterfly: I had to go back and read a comment that you posted a few days ago because I found it to be so important when it comes to us girls. In case my readers missed it, I am reposting it here again. It begs the question again why any woman would vote republican when the republicans show that they have little care when it comes to women, our health and our rights. It is a war on women, and we need to stop it. Enough cannot be said…enough cannot be repeated, so here it is again:

My friends and myself think that we are at a tipping point in the US with politics and women’s rights right now. There’s no way the GOP is not going down. They are going to implode. The recent congressional hearings on women’s health with no women representing looks just like RJ Reynolds testifying on tobacco safety. There is a GOP war on women!

1) Republicans not only want to reduce women’s access to abortion care, they’re actually trying to redefine rape. After a major backlash, they promised to stop. But they haven’t yet. Shocker.

2) A state legislator in Georgia wants to change the legal term for victims of rape, stalking, and domestic violence to “accuser.” But victims of other less gendered crimes, like burglary, would remain “victims.”

3) In South Dakota, Republicans proposed a bill that could make it legal to murder a doctor who provides abortion care. (Yep, for real.)

4) Republicans want to cut nearly a billion dollars of food and other aid to low-income pregnant women, mothers, babies, and kids.

5) In Congress, Republicans have a bill that would let hospitals allow a woman to die rather than perform an abortion necessary to save her life.

6) Maryland Republicans ended all county money for a low-income kids’ preschool program. Why? No need, they said. Women should really be home with the kids, not out working.

7) And at the federal level, Republicans want to cut that same program, Head Start, by $1 billion. That means over 200,000 kids could lose their spots in preschool.

8) Two-thirds of the elderly poor are women, and Republicans are taking aim at them too. A spending bill would cut funding for employment services, meals, and housing for senior citizens.

9) Congress just voted for a Republican amendment to cut all federal funding from Planned Parenthood health centers, one of the most trusted providers of basic health care and family planning in our country. (Surprised here? Look at the Susan G. Komen debacle.)

10) And if that wasn’t enough, Republicans are pushing to eliminate all funds for the only federal family planning program. (For humans. But Republican Dan Burton has a bill to provide contraception for wild horses. You can’t make this stuff up).

Lisa #3 today was spot on. Protest at moveon.org: http://front.moveon.org/the-gop-overlooked-one-thing-when-they-started-this-war-on-women/

Be the solution, not the problem! Inactivity is no activity.

/SB

Chris: Thank you for the recognition and kind words. I wish more men felt as you do.

Simon: Thanks for putting your thoughts into a comment for the first time. I think it is wonderful that you and Chris above feel this way, but I also HOPE you’ll both do something in support. I find that I meet quite a few men who are in support of women and our health needs/rights etc., but that it goes only so far. We need men…good men to be on our sides taking action as well. if you’re doing that  - Bravo! If not, I HOPE the things that are written here inspire you.

And then…there’s men like Ben and Willis.and Palin lovin’ women like Marsha.  Yes guys, we need all the help we can get.

Katy: Thanks for sharing your story. If my readers missed it – here is the article that you were referring to.  I also watched some of the kids interviewed and it was incredible some of the things kids endure from the bullies. Kids should be able to watch this. Hence,  I agree with you; I signed.

Lois: Nice assessment and great question. Some men are not only stupid, lazy and opportunisticI I think Irenesaid it well….the BS just keeps flowing.  I nominate him for the LSOS Club – don’t you think? In fact, I think I’ll add a page on my blog and post the members.

Dhakiya: I am sorry, I cannot tell from your name if you are a man or woman. My guess is you are a man, So…if you are a man, I ask: Why should I help the men when they have little care for their women? Why would I protect men from an evil man, when the men are just as evil to their women, and the women are the ones who need protection? I will give help to the men only if the men stand up and support their women, and end this second class BS.

Zen Lill: Thanks for the call – returned it yesterday.  We’ll keep trying! HOPE all is good with you.

Al: Thank you so much for the compliment. I have been told such things by many men who have met me. I gather you must’ve read “General Info’s” comment, However, you forgot to add the “bottom slice compliment” that would’ve completed your “complaint sandwich”.

But no matter, I get your drift. And yes you are 100% correct, I do have penis envy…in two ways:

1) I do wish that I had a dick sometimes – truly I do – because this pussy of mine is soo good, (believe me the moans of pleasure that escape the lips of men who have had this delight between my thighs, tell me it is so), I would love to know what it feels like to fuck it – seriously.

2) On the other hand, I’m envying all of the women out there who are getting some dick. It’s been awhile for me, and my needs have yet to be met. So yes,  I could use some “professional help” in the worst way…in the form of a “medicinal fuck”. Got anyone in mind who can fill this need? I realize you’re not up for the task…pity. Oh well…

With respect to being a good or bad roll model for womanhood – we’ll leave that decision up to the girls. Once again, men trying to make decisions for women – will it ever end?

Readers: Love me or hate me…I’m going to be here for at least awhile longer. Blog me.

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.

This ‘n That Chitchat

Good morning!

I HOPE everyone had a wonderful day, with the celebrations continuing throughout the new year and beyond. I certainly did and plan to as well.

Zen Lill: It sounds like the new year has some wonderful and exciting changes for you. I am happy for you and HOPE that it’s a smooth transition. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Jackie: Thanks for commenting again and sharing more of your life. Whenever I open my mouth here I never know the whole story which makes me pause when I make suggestions, especially when my advice is unsolicited. But that’s what I do when I am told of a situation that involves unfairness, racism, abuse, etc. Your situation is obviously not easy, nor  is my advice when you have to consider your children and their best interest.

I find that women are in so many different situations; some like yours and some vastly different. The common thread is, women do the best that they can in their current situation.  I wish the best for you and your daughters.

Jackie: You are one of the other women that I was mentioning above. With respect to me and Doug, we certainly have our challenges like all married couples but it flows pretty well between us, and for that I am grateful.

From the desk of Nancy Pelosi: Always good to see you here. I am a big fan – Thanks for all you do.

Lea: I enjoyed your story. Sometimes, the grass looks greener on the other side, but when we get to lounge on it for awhile, we discover we really miss he comforts of the familiar. The lesson here for me is to appreciate what you have when you have it.

Thank You Obama: Loved reading your post. And to answer your question: We really don’t want to know.

Robert, RT: Thank you. I HOPE Yours was just as wonderful. And thank you for blogging the extension of the payroll tax cut. Not sure if many people know this was only for two months. I agree, the extension to 12 months is critical. It may mean for some, the difference between people having enough money to feed their families or not.

Peter: Thank you for informing us. Hafa Adai.

Howie: Nicely said. I HOPE you are still enjoying your Hanukkah celebration. Best to you and Al - Hi Al!

Will: Thanks for commenting (for the first time ?). I too really enjoy the Health Info and General Info, but they don’t always get it right or perhaps I should say sometimes it is skewed. Non the less, it has inspired a little “just noticing” on your part. Thanks for bringing it to light.

Lois: I won’t even ask what you said after your daughter’s comment, but Im dying to know.

Konduz: I wish they weren’t and the men were different. The disillusion is hard and sad, but it is better to be illuminated and learn the truth, than left in the dark under pretense. The knowledge the women have, is power against the men. And as you and Bost have discovered, the more the women are in the know, the more powerful you are together. I wish I could be standing with all of you. This is only the beginning. It is time the sick men stopped getting away with it. I applaud you and all the women, for your courage and collaborative efforts – Peace and love to you.

Okay, I just refreshed my blog and saw all of the added comments this morning. And actually got to peruse some of them, albeit very quickly, but let me say, it wasn’t hard to get the gist of them.  - I would love to comment but I am running late and ready to post.  The forum is open. I’m sure you’ll have something to say – blog me.

Oh, and make the last week of this year a good one. Peace out.

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. Important Information on how to comment to my blog.

Readers: I know how excited you all get when you want to leave a comment. However when you are in the “Leave a reply” area, you will notice:

  • The first field is a blank space with the title “Name” to the right of it.
  • The second field is a blank space with “Mail” ( will not be published) to the right of it.
  • The third field is a blank space with “Website” to the right of it.

As you may have noticed above, Zen Lill’s name is in the “Name” field, and her website is in the “Website” field. This may be the same on your computer, or not. I have also gotten e-mails that other people’s names are showing up in the “Name” field ( other than their own) when readers are wanting to “Leave a reply”.

I realize that all of you will probably change  the “Name” field to state your own name, but you may not notice that the “Website” field might have Zen Lill’s website listed. All you need to do is clear (delete) both fields. If you do not delete her website in the “website” field, your name will automatically getting linked to Zen Lill’s blog.

I apologize for this extra work. Although my admin guy is working on it, I can not tell you when this will be resolved. Thanks again for your patience. And thanks to the many readers who sent me e-mails giving me a heads-up. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience.

Peace out.

1939 Guide For Women In New York

Good morning!

I thought this was an interesting find:

‘Young Lady In Manhattan’: Reddit User Finds 1939 Guide For Women In New York

Reddit user ‘unmoderated’recently found a copy of “New York: Behind the Scenes”, a 1939 guide by Lee Mortimer, and scanned a section called “Young Lady in Manhattan…”

It’s an incredible, albeit outdated, relic that advises the young, ambitious woman coming to the Big Apple to pursue her dreams — sort of.

Happy Anniversary! The Blog Is 4-Years Old

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 13th July 2011

Bookmark and Share

Good morning!

Carilla: You are right, and right on with the timing. :)

This is the anniversary of 4 years of me writing my blog. Although I started this blog, I like to think of it as “our” blog…you know a community blog. And by community I mean, the “world” community. It belongs to all of us…all of you who have made it what it is.

So…What is it?

Well…it’s at least something that I am very proud of. And that is the fact that for 4 years I have been talking and writing about Darfur…and what we can do to stop the genocide and mass atrocities that were happening on a daily basis, especially to the women and children.

The Sudanese government began forcing out the non-arab Sudanese that resided in Southern Sudan. They began a Genocide campaign of burning, murdering, and terrorizing the non-arab sudanese to drive them from their lands. As always it was about money. The money from the oil and minerals under their land. And as always, the women and children suffered the most.

At the time when I first heard about all that was going on in Darfur, the stories and the people touched my heart. I wanted to be sure that their plight would be in the public light all of the time, so I made a point to not only blog about it, but to create a safe place for the people of Darfur to be heard. My blog provided a platform 24/7, as long as I wrote. And of course as long as you, my readers, were here with me too…they felt heard.

And as a result, 4 years later, so close to the anniversary of my blog, I’d like to make their Independence part of the celebration of my 4 years here.

There’s still a long way to go with Darfur, and I’d like to think I have a long way to go with my blog. (Ugh..did I actually say that?) I did, and I do mean it.

And no doubt there will be other challenges. There always are. I’d like to see Obama get re-elected amongst other things that I am passionate about. So…what are my passions? Keep reading, because if you don’t know what drives me…what pulls at my heart, stick around, you soon will.

Anyway, I just want to thank everyone who has been here with me…the regulars who chime in almost daily, and of course the newbies who write in with fiery passion and enthusiasm, and instantly become a part of the family – love having new blood on my blog. So…keep telling your friends. Change can and does happen here.

I’ll finish with saying…just as long as we always remember, we can say anything we want ’cause it’s only words. You know…”sticks and stones…” We’re still a family, so let’s remember that, and “no threats”, Okay? Enjoy!

Oh..before I sign off, while I am mentioning the successes of “our” blog, I don’t want to forget to congratulate one of our long time regulars, “Anonz” for doing his part to prevent the ‘Fony Fox News owner Rubert Murdoch from acquiring ownership of BSkyB.  You old timers are used to getting scoops like the one Anonymous #9 posted July 11, 2011 saying that Anonz was going to nix the acquisition.

Today’s news is…and I am quoting  from a HuffPost article -  Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. has withdrawn its $12 billion bid for BSkyB. The withdrawal represents a devastating blow to Murdoch, who had desperately sought to take full control of the satellite broadcaster. It comes after the British government, which had previously given every indication that it wanted the deal to progress, dramatically withdrew its support for the bid on Tuesday in the wake of the ever-deepening scandal surrounding News Corp and its UK subsidiary, News International.

According to Anonymous #9 that may not be the end of Anonz’s revenge. It seems he is intent on seeing that Murdoch loses money in a few civil suits and that some of his employees go to jail.  Stay tuned.

“Peace & Love”…You know what to do.

Gratefully your blog host,
