Monday Morning Chitchat

Good morning!

Happy Monday everyone! Okay so life has been busier than I can handle at the moment, so unfortunately parts of my life suffer and don’t get the attention they deserves. My blog is one of them. But hey, I’m catching up.

Social Butterfly: I had to go back and read a comment that you posted a few days ago because I found it to be so important when it comes to us girls. In case my readers missed it, I am reposting it here again. It begs the question again why any woman would vote republican when the republicans show that they have little care when it comes to women, our health and our rights. It is a war on women, and we need to stop it. Enough cannot be said…enough cannot be repeated, so here it is again:

My friends and myself think that we are at a tipping point in the US with politics and women’s rights right now. There’s no way the GOP is not going down. They are going to implode. The recent congressional hearings on women’s health with no women representing looks just like RJ Reynolds testifying on tobacco safety. There is a GOP war on women!

1) Republicans not only want to reduce women’s access to abortion care, they’re actually trying to redefine rape. After a major backlash, they promised to stop. But they haven’t yet. Shocker.

2) A state legislator in Georgia wants to change the legal term for victims of rape, stalking, and domestic violence to “accuser.” But victims of other less gendered crimes, like burglary, would remain “victims.”

3) In South Dakota, Republicans proposed a bill that could make it legal to murder a doctor who provides abortion care. (Yep, for real.)

4) Republicans want to cut nearly a billion dollars of food and other aid to low-income pregnant women, mothers, babies, and kids.

5) In Congress, Republicans have a bill that would let hospitals allow a woman to die rather than perform an abortion necessary to save her life.

6) Maryland Republicans ended all county money for a low-income kids’ preschool program. Why? No need, they said. Women should really be home with the kids, not out working.

7) And at the federal level, Republicans want to cut that same program, Head Start, by $1 billion. That means over 200,000 kids could lose their spots in preschool.

8) Two-thirds of the elderly poor are women, and Republicans are taking aim at them too. A spending bill would cut funding for employment services, meals, and housing for senior citizens.

9) Congress just voted for a Republican amendment to cut all federal funding from Planned Parenthood health centers, one of the most trusted providers of basic health care and family planning in our country. (Surprised here? Look at the Susan G. Komen debacle.)

10) And if that wasn’t enough, Republicans are pushing to eliminate all funds for the only federal family planning program. (For humans. But Republican Dan Burton has a bill to provide contraception for wild horses. You can’t make this stuff up).

Lisa #3 today was spot on. Protest at moveon.org: http://front.moveon.org/the-gop-overlooked-one-thing-when-they-started-this-war-on-women/

Be the solution, not the problem! Inactivity is no activity.

Chris: Thank you for the recognition and kind words. I wish more men felt as you do.

Simon: Thanks for putting your thoughts into a comment for the first time. I think it is wonderful that you and Chris above feel this way, but I also HOPE you’ll both do something in support. I find that I meet quite a few men who are in support of women and our health needs/rights etc., but that it goes only so far. We need men…good men to be on our sides taking action as well. if you’re doing that  - Bravo! If not, I HOPE the things that are written here inspire you.

And then…there’s men like Ben and Willis.and Palin lovin’ women like Marsha.  Yes guys, we need all the help we can get.

Katy: Thanks for sharing your story. If my readers missed it – here is the article that you were referring to.  I also watched some of the kids interviewed and it was incredible some of the things kids endure from the bullies. Kids should be able to watch this. Hence,  I agree with you; I signed.

Lois: Nice assessment and great question. Some men are not only stupid, lazy and opportunisticI I think Irenesaid it well….the BS just keeps flowing.  I nominate him for the LSOS Club – don’t you think? In fact, I think I’ll add a page on my blog and post the members.

Dhakiya: I am sorry, I cannot tell from your name if you are a man or woman. My guess is you are a man, So…if you are a man, I ask: Why should I help the men when they have little care for their women? Why would I protect men from an evil man, when the men are just as evil to their women, and the women are the ones who need protection? I will give help to the men only if the men stand up and support their women, and end this second class BS.

Zen Lill: Thanks for the call – returned it yesterday.  We’ll keep trying! HOPE all is good with you.

Al: Thank you so much for the compliment. I have been told such things by many men who have met me. I gather you must’ve read “General Info’s” comment, However, you forgot to add the “bottom slice compliment” that would’ve completed your “complaint sandwich”.

But no matter, I get your drift. And yes you are 100% correct, I do have penis envy…in two ways:

1) I do wish that I had a dick sometimes – truly I do – because this pussy of mine is soo good, (believe me the moans of pleasure that escape the lips of men who have had this delight between my thighs, tell me it is so), I would love to know what it feels like to fuck it – seriously.

2) On the other hand, I’m envying all of the women out there who are getting some dick. It’s been awhile for me, and my needs have yet to be met. So yes,  I could use some “professional help” in the worst way…in the form of a “medicinal fuck”. Got anyone in mind who can fill this need? I realize you’re not up for the task…pity. Oh well…

With respect to being a good or bad roll model for womanhood – we’ll leave that decision up to the girls. Once again, men trying to make decisions for women – will it ever end?

Readers: Love me or hate me…I’m going to be here for at least awhile longer. Blog me.

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.

Why Your Asthma Treatment May Not Be Working

If you have asthma and feel that your steroid medication just doesn’t help you much, there’s a bit of good news for you.

Researchers seem to have discovered why steroids don’t do the trick for so many asthma sufferers.

The research was conducted at the Airway Clinical Research Center of the University of California, San Francisco, and published in American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

To find out more, I called the senior author of the study, center director John V. Fahy, MD.

WHY STEROIDS DON’T ALWAYS CUT IT

Over a period of six weeks, Dr. Fahy and his colleagues analyzed sputum (mucus from the lungs) from 995 people with mild-to-moderate persistent asthma.

Researchers were looking for the presence of white blood cells called eosinophils.

Eosinophils are immune cells that release toxins to kill off parasites, but in some asthmatics they fire off toxins inappropriately, causing inflammation.

For years, scientists had assumed that asthma was caused by the collection of these cells in the airways, and so asthma treatments have focused on controlling them.

But since not everyone responds to certain asthma treatments in the same way, Dr. Fahy and his colleagues suspected that not all asthmatics have these types of cells in their sputum.

    Here’s what they discovered…

22% of the asthma patients persistently had eosinophils in their sputum on every occasion and thus were categorized as having persistent eosinophilia.

31% of subjects had eosinophils in their sputum on at least one occasion and were categorized as having intermittent eosinophilia.

But a whopping 47%—nearly half!—of subjects had no eosinophils on any occasion and were categorized as having persistent non-eosinophilia.

So what does this mean for asthma patients?

Well, if you have the type with no eosinophils (and there seems to be about a 50-50 chance of that), it means that one or more of the treatments that you have likely been using for years may not be working that well.

And that is what the researchers confirmed next…

    TREATING ASTHMA PROPERLY

Dr. Fahy noted that treatment for asthma is typically two-pronged.

The first—and mainstay—treatment is to reduce inflammation caused by eosinophils through the long-term use of oral or inhaled corticosteroids.

The second approach generally consists of a bronchodilator with albuterol (a beta agonist drug) that relaxes bronchial muscles and provides on-the-spot symptom relief.

So, during “part two” of the study, Dr. Fahy and his colleagues tested one measure of medication efficacy—lung function (a measure of how much air your lungs can hold and how quickly you can move air in and out of your lungs).

They found that the corticosteroid medications improved lung function only in subjects with persistent or intermittent eosinophilia,

and there was no effect in patients with persistent non-eosinpohilia. In contrast, the albuterol bronchodilator improved lung function in all three types of patients.

Dr. Fahy told me that in the past, it was thought that some genetic defect was the reason some asthmatics responded poorly to corticosteroid medication.

And that may be true for some, but for most, the reason now seems to be that they have no eosinophils in their lungs.

    HOW THESE FINDINGS AFFECT ASTHMATICS

So does this mean that all asthmatics should get tested to see if they have eosinophils in their airways—and if they don’t, then they should stop taking corticosteroids?

Unfortunately, the answer to both questions is no—because right now, identifying whether you have eosinophilia or not won’t do you any good.

Corticosteroids may not help those with non-eosinophilia improve their lung function, specifically, but according to Dr. Fahy,

they are still the best treatment currently available for asthma and they do help those particular asthmatics at least a little bit in other ways.

For example, studies by other researchers have shown that these steroids can reduce the rate of asthma attacks, lessen swelling in the airways and decrease the lungs’ responses to irritants.

So all asthmatics on corticosteroids should continue taking them unless their doctors advise otherwise.

The good news is that knowing why steroids aren’t as effective as they could be is likely to help scientists develop new treatments that are more effective.

Yes, I know that I said I would not make a comment, but a Knight never misses a call from the Fairest of damsels in distress.

I have American Express and it books flights all day long.

As for Al, typical insure white male. His colors come out when we least expect it.

    Take your meds AL.

You are not mean or a white boy, you are merely Bi-Polar. Howie you have my sincere sympathy. You must have your hands full dealing with this charlatan.

I bet he is forever pretending to be sicker than he is. His explosions of need to be pitied shows that he must lie a lot to get attention.

    Robert, rt

  4. Zen Lill Says:

Mischa, all I can tell you is I laughed right out loud (LOL, oh yeeaaaah!) bc re: #1 – DITTO DITTO & DITTO & #2 I do believe RobertRt’s Amex is awaiting your call : ) I’ll try you again soon, I was busy yesterday, no details : ) – ZL

  5. Renee Says:

Al, you are not the typical male who loses control when you feel you no longer have control over your concept of what a woman should do or feel.

I was going to go off on your rudeness but I decided to let it go because you have been on this blog for so long that anyone seeing your reply would know that you are having one of your periodic Bi-Polar attacks.

    Well Said Michelle.

    Renee

  6. Craig Says:

Al, what did your mother teach you? You can get angry with a woman without resorting to such disrespectful language.

It shows a lot of pent up hostility. Perhaps all that time without has made you bitter.

I suppose the hands are tired.

    Craig

  7. Dhakiyah Says:

    Michelle,

I am a woman. I understand your feelings about the men here. Mine are exactly the same. We women know that our lives may even be worse if there is a regime change.

I did not make my request in a clear enough manner. I was not asking for help or our men. This play is about their needs. I am asking if there is some way you could help the females here to survive this male war.

    Dhakiyah

  8. Ted Says:

Al, you need to check yourself. What a way to talk to a lady. I do believe she touched a nerve. There are devices that can help that small size.

I’ve seen commercials that advocate drugs for penis enlargement. Try them, if they don’t work take it out on the companies not Michelle.

    Ted

  9. Ross Says:

Al, your whining about your small dick is giving men a bad name. That old canard about the motion of the ocean not the size of the boat lost its validity when women got the right to try different partners.

    Ross

  10. Sandra Says:

Let me say it slowly for you Al, you can’t use what you don’t have. And you can’t learn size.

    Sandra

  11. Tammy Says:

Al, I have a wonderful man. He will do anything to make me happy, that includes our sexual activities.

But like you he is TOO SMALL for this “grand canyon.” And no amount of “using it” will do. I tell him undoubtedly like kind women have told you, he is fine.

Women, unlike men, as you have shown by your rudeness to Michelle can be kind.

    Tammy

  12. Lacy Says:

Your article shows the typical reaction by white men with little penises. They resent the idea that black men get a pass in the size arena where they have to prove themselves.

The result is white men will tolerate any other race but the black man. I am married to a black man and my brothers try to subtly imply that he is less intelligent than they are.

I remind them that if he grew up with the advantages they had because of the color of their skins, he would be way ahead of their puny accomplishments.

My sister says her husband always tries to tell her he pities me because I am married to a black man so that means my chances of social success are limited.

She said when I reminded him Obama, a black man, was president of the USA, he didn’t speak to her for the rest of the day.

That is what they, white men, are so afraid of. He can no longer tell his white woman that picking a black man over a white man may give her better sexual pleasure, but she will have to sacrifice economic and social status to get it.

Obama’s success represents a new fact. A white woman can have it all. Great sex and success with a black man.

Soooooooooo Scary for the tiny dick Als.

    Lacy

  13. Ma Qin Says:

Zen Lill, we are still doing your diet. We have lost a total of 197 lbs on it. We read you every day.

  14. Simon Says:

Al, I have been reading this blog for a while. I like your input, but I am disappointed in your response to Michelle.

You have demonstrated a gift for getting your point across with humor and wit. I look forward to your apology to Michelle and a demonstration of that humor and wit applied to your disagreement with her.

    Simon

  15. Willis Says:

Al, you give men a bad name with that vitriol attack against Michelle. You left yourself naked showing your preoccupation with your package insufficiency.

    Willis

  16. Halley Says:

Al, what you see as a “grand Canyon” someone with average size sees as a tight pussy.

It’s all in the eyes of the beholder(of a tiny dick).

    Halley

  17. Ellen Says:

Al, first of all if you don’t have the minimum size required to call that thing between your legs a dick, you don’t get to call it a dick.

Which means you are the one suffering from “dick envy” and you are taking it out on Michelle.

Take your meds, and apologize immediately.

    Ellen

  18. Albert Says:

Al, Love you man. But you fucked up on this one. In the area of size that is a woman’s call. We have our likes in our sexual preferences.

If we don’t make the grade in that department, calling the size of the woman’s vagina a grand canyon only momentarily appeases the man’s ego.

He will carry the thought on his next sexual outing for sure. If it repeats, he secretly harbors a hatred for the thing he wants most.

You have gotten there. Only psychological help can help. Get some.

    Albert

  19. Robert,RT Says:

    Michelle:

That outburst by Al proves my point to my friends that say you lean towards siding with women. I said that you were forced into that position because men usually get the benefit of the doubt when that proclaim their support of women when most only do so as long as the woman doesn’t offend some sensitive male eqo area.

Al, is so supportive of women’s issues but as soon as the tender subject for him of penis size (for obvious reasons) is used in a manner that becomes unbearable for him.

He explodes upon the very person he has been supporting for years. And he does so with all the viciousness of any female antagonist.

If he were arab in a country and had the means and power he would condemn her to a horrible death with the righteous indignation of a man who was very tolerant and supportive of women’s causes, “but this bitch stepped over the line.”

And Yes, Zen Lill, this Amex is heading West for a short stent in Marin, I hope the Bay area’s bankers and investors will be as pleased as you seem to be. (-:

    Robert,rt

  20. Zen Lill Says:

Ah, Ma Qin, I do apologize…let me explain

Firstly: all I can tell you is I laughed right out loud (LOL, oh yeeaaaah!) bc re: #1 – DITTO DITTO & DITTO – LOL is that popular social media term which means ‘laugh out loud’ and I always laugh right out loud when people write/say LOL, just a ZL quirk of personality. The DITTO DITTO DITTO means that I second the idea given below in Mischa’s statement, I have often wished (and said out Ioud) that I could trade places with my lover for a session bc apparently the experience has been, hmm, life affirming : )? so yes I would love to feel what it’s like to be in there, I only know the opposite which is absolutely otherworldly and I would not change it permanently, just a ‘one time only’ (and that used to be code for one night stand where I come from – an OTO)

    ..MM’s statement…
    1) I do wish that I had a dick sometimes – truly I do – because this pussy of mine is soo good, (believe me the moans of pleasure that escape the lips of men who have had this delight between my thighs, tell me it is so), I would love to know what it feels like to fuck it – seriously

Mischa, I’ll give you a shout out at some point today/tomorrow – it was good to hear your voice even if it was just vmail.

    Luv, Zen Lill

  21. Janet Says:

Al, Al, what can I say. I admire you when you put that sense of humor of yours to topics that need a bit of lightening up.

And I have been around on this blog long enough to expect you to go off every now and then. However, as Michelle said it does show that men always expect to be able to tell women they know more about them that the women know about themselves.

Could it be that your penis is just too small? Why does it have to be that the woman’s vagina is too big?

    Janet

  22. Zen Lill Says:

Lacy, it’s all just jealousy, when a black man is built, intelligent and has large shoes, it makes white men extremely nervous…and well, they should be. A man who has intelligence and style in the sack is a rare find indeed ; ) good for you. – ZL

  23. Kai Says:
