The Trayton Martin Tradegy

I always like to start my blog write with a “Good morning”. Some days it feels strange when I am writing about the atrocities that happen in our world, yet I say it anyway.  I don’t know what it is about today’s story, but today it just doesn’t feel appropriate, to say “Good morning” in a big red happy font.

My thoughts are with the family of 17 year-old Trayvon Martin who was shot and killed on February 26th. And yet his killer, George Zimmerman, has not been arrested. The outrage from the public has made this story the headliner across the country.  And now the most recent news: The 911 tapes were just released late Friday. Just reading about the tapes and listening to Martin scream for his life just makes me ill to the point of tears. Once again, “just us” justice is in play.

911 tapes in Trayvon Martin shooting released

Calls made to police show that a black teenager was terrified as he tried to get away from the white neighborhood watch volunteer who shot him, and that the volunteer was not defending himself as he has claimed, the teen’s family told The Associated Press on Saturday.

Sanford police released eight 911 calls late Friday. The neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman, tells a dispatcher in the first call that he is following 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. He says Martin is running, but the dispatcher tells him not to follow the teen.

“How can you claim self-defense and you are the aggressor?” Tracy Martin, Trayvon Martin’s father, told the AP on Saturday.

Zimmerman had called police to report a suspicious person walking through the gated community. He has said he shot the teen in self-defense. Zimmerman’s father said in a letter to the Orlando Sentinel that his son, who is Hispanic, has been cruelly and unfairly portrayed in the media as a racist.

The teen had gone to a convenience store to buy candy and was walking back to his family’s home in the neighborhood.

“This guy looks like he is up to no good. He is on drugs or something,” Zimmerman told the dispatcher from his SUV. He added that the black teen had his hand in his waistband and was walking around looking at homes.

“These a——-. They always get away,” Zimmerman said on a 911 call.

He has said he acted in self-defense, but Martin’s family said they are now more convinced than ever that Zimmerman should be charged in the shooting. Several of the 911 calls made by neighbors describe some sort of scuffle or fight outside, someone yelling for help and a gunshot.

“(Zimmerman) was chasing him, he was following him, and my son was afraid,” Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon Martin’s mother, told the AP. “He didn’t know who this stranger was.”

Tracy Martin said the calls paint a stark picture of what were his son’s final moments.

“He was yelling for help, and no one could help him. He saw his life being taken away from him,” Tracy Martin said.

The case has been turned over to the State Attorney’s Office, which can decide whether to file charges or present evidence to a grand jury.

Trayvon Martin’s family said they will continue pushing for charges to be filed against Zimmerman.

“We’re hoping this doesn’t happen again to another family, and that America opens their eyes … even though this won’t bring Trayvon back, we don’t want there to be another Trayvon,” Tracy Martin said.

Moments after Zimmerman’s first call, dispatchers were bombarded by seven 911 calls from frantic neighbors describing a fight between two men, screaming and then a gunshot.

“There is somebody screaming outside,” one female caller said, as an unknown male voice can be heard crying in the background. Then a shot is heard.

A male caller described a physical altercation between Martin and the shooter.

“I just heard a shot right behind my house,” The caller said. “They’re wrestling right behind my porch. The guy is yelling ‘Help.’ I’m not going outside.”

Earlier Friday, Martin’s parents called on the FBI to take over the investigation, saying they no longer trusted the Sanford police department.

Sanford police Sgt. David Morgenstern said the department stands by its investigation but welcomes help from any outside agency. FBI agent David Couvertier said the agency has been in contact with Sanford police and is monitoring the case.

“We are committed to having somebody review this to see if we made a mistake,” said Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett. “If we made missteps and there is something there, we will act accordingly.”

Several Sanford residents who spoke to The Associated Press Friday said they think there would have been an arrest already if the shooter had been black and the deceased had been white. They said blacks and whites in this city of 53,000 residents were pretty much in agreement that an injustice had been done with no one arrested, and that there was no racial divide in how the case is being perceived. The city is 57 percent white and 30 percent black. It has a median household income of almost $42,000.

“It’s just about … to be able to take somebody’s life in 2012 and not even go to jail for it, that is just sad. No matter, for any color. Not just black or white. Any color,” Ladonna Williams, 38, who is black, said as she shopped at the Seminole Towne Center shopping mall, more than a mile from where the shooting took place.

In the letter to the Sentinel, Zimmerman’s father says his son has received death threats and moved out of his home. George Zimmerman is Hispanic and grew up in a multiracial family, the statement says.

“He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever …,” the letter says. “The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth.”

Al, why is it a man can say to a woman that he it is nothing personal but he is a “leg” man, or “tit” man or an “ass” man or he likes blond, asians, blacks, white, etc.

BUT, if a woman suggests she likes big dicks or just an adequate one to fit her god given tight sweet cave of pleasure, the man suddenly becomes philosophical and suggests that all a woman needs is man with a penis who “knows how to use it.”

Can a woman with small breasts say to a man all you need is a woman who knows how to use these small tits. or this small ass or, or, or?

Can she suggest that it isn’t that her tits or ass is too small, it’s his hands that are too big? O course not, so why in the hell do you men think that bullshit about the pussy being too big should work with women?

No, Al, a woman will not be satisfied with a dick too small to fit her needs whether the owner thinks he “knows how to use it., even if he can use it.

If a woman told you that lie, she was being polite so as to not offend your inadequate ass.

When you are on your meds, you seem like a logical man. So here’s a bit of logic for you.

When you have a hole size that takes a particular size screw, would you say – It doesn’t matter what size screw the carpenter uses as long as the carpenter knows how to use the screwdriver?

    I think not!

You are the typical male. You want to believe that males come in one size fits all while the woman has to be designed specific to fit the man.

And yes like most white males, you have a bad case of penis envy. That is why white males single out black male for ridicule and discrimination.

They fear that if the black man was given a equal opportunity to compete he would equal or excel and with the big dick to go with that what would they have to offer a woman.

You are not disgusted with Michelle’s “holier than thou attitude, ” you are disgusted with your tiny penis size that she makes reference to. Get over it.

    Alycedale

  2. Don Says:

I want to hear the gottdamn tapes. These white bastards think black lives are cheap.

  3. Magie Says:

Al, if you added a inch to that obvious its bitty thing you are referring to as a dick, you might find that what you thought was a “Grand Canyon” was just a tiny little watering hole of pleasure.

But you’re never know because whatever you put that pencil into will seem too big to feel. So like the typical man, you blame the woman for your physical inadequacies.

    Maggie

  4. Drew Says:

When will the black man get any justice? I have three mixed racial children I fear for the two who look black.

Is there Nano-Poison in Your Food?

Maybe you’re biting into a piece of crunchy toast right now or dipping your spoon into chocolate ice cream—those foods may not seem so delicious when you read what I’m about to share with you.

Food companies desperately want their products to look better and last longer—and to do that many are adding astonishingly tiny bits of compounds, such as titanium oxide, silicon oxide and zinc oxide, into their recipes.

These tiny bits—engineered nanoparticles—have never been eaten by humans (or any creature) until now because they existed mostly as laboratory curiosities until about 10 years ago, when scientists developed machines to manufacture them on a large scale.

To understand just how small the nanoparticles in your food really are, compare them with a typical strand of human hair—the hair is 80,000 nanometers across…a nanoparticle is less than 100 nanometers across.

You can’t see them…you can’t smell them…but they are there. And they work.

For example, engineered nanoparticles make ice cream creamier (but lower in fat)…they make flavors in salad dressing and sauces more intense…they allow ketchup to easily flow out of a glass bottle…and when sprayed on bread, they give the crust a richer color.

Now, of course I want to eat creamier ice cream and eat more flavorful sauces, but there’s something about food companies inserting microscopic bits of metal into my food—and not advertising it—that makes me more than a little uncomfortable.

To learn more about the safety of these nanoparticles and why food companies are so hush-hush about them,

I spoke with Sara Brenner, MD, MPH, assistant vice president for NanoHealth Initiatives at the College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering (CNSE) of the University at Albany, who conducts health and safety research on nanoparticles.

Frighteningly, there are no exact figures on how many foods contain these nanoparticles, since food companies are not required to report the use of these nanomaterials in their products nor are they required to label nano-containing food products—so many in the US do not, according to Dr. Brenner.

But Dr. Brenner estimates that at least 140 food and food-related products sold in the US contain nanoparticles.

For the most part, Dr. Brenner said, nanoparticles are put into processed foods, such as diet shakes, dairy products, condiments, cooking oils, cakes and more, so that the processed foods can look as good and taste as good as many fresh foods.

    A NEW FRONTIER

The major concern regarding use of nanoparticles is that since they’re so new, there is little to no safety data on how they affect human health.

Particles this small can not only travel through the digestive tract like any food does, but theoretically could enter the body’s individual cells…including cell nuclei, DNA and other biological nanoscale entities, Dr. Brenner told me.

Is that safe? The answer, she said, is “We need to investigate further.”

Although there have been no negative reports about human health effects of nanoparticles, according to Dr. Brenner, a 2009 study of mice at UCLA published in Cancer Research had disturbing results.

Mice were given drinking water with titanium oxide nanoparticles, and it damaged or destroyed the animals’ DNA and chromosomes.

Although the food industry is eager to note that these mice were given a form and a quantity of the compound that is not typically used in human food, that is a weak argument for including nanoparticles in what humans eat.

The fact is, no one knows how, exactly, scientists can and should measure the effect of nanoparticles on human health.

That’s right—these things are so new, we wouldn’t even know how to measure their health impact if we wanted to.

The technology used for testing foods today simply can’t be applied to anything on the nanoscale.

You would think that, because of all this, the Food and Drug Administration would not allow food companies to use nanoparticles until more research is done.

But unfortunately the FDA’s stance—and I’m paraphrasing—is not “Don’t use them until they’re proven safe,” but rather “Use them and we’ll see if they hurt people.”

And despite specific requests from consumer groups, the FDA has refused to even require that foods with nanoparticles be labeled as such.

I was surprised to learn that Dr. Brenner does not disagree with the FDA’s decision—in her view, banning nanoparticles from food now would be premature and could hamper the development of the many potential benefits of nanotechnology in food (such as enhancing the nutrient content in food by increasing its bioavailability or increasing its shelf life).

And she thinks that within 10 years, given that there is continued investment in scientific research aimed at addressing this topic, we will know more about how safe or harmful these nanoparticles actually are.

WHAT TO PUT ON YOUR PLATE

Personally, I think 10 years is too long…I think one year is too long.

Dr. Brenner said that if you’re extremely concerned about the issue, you can avoid processed foods (which you should be doing anyway), since that is where nanoparticles are most likely to be found.

Or you can buy only organic products, because, she said, they are far less likely to contain nanoparticles.

You also can put pressure on food companies and the FDA, expressing the need for safety testing and labeling, through direct contact and through your Congressional representatives.

I’m not against technology—but I shouldn’t be a guinea pig for the food industry and neither should you.

  6. Mary Says:

Zimmerman should have been arrested and charged with this senseless murder. Where is the justice?

  7. LB Says:

This is a senseless outrage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First, he has a history(Zimmerman) of having a temper. He deliberately disobeys the 911 dispatcher and pursues the teen.

He is out of breath chasing him. He panicks cause the teen is crying and screaming and shoots him. What deadly force can be caused by a can of tea and a paper pouch of skittles?

A mother knows her childs cry and screams. What kind of state creates a Stand Your Ground Law cause you feel threatened? That is easily up to the person who interprets it.

  8. Anonymous Says:

I just heard the 911 recording where he was out of breath as he gave chase as well.

There are so many violations that Mr. Zimmerman made and he could have been held on those violations as the investigation went forward.

Stand your ground law has limitations however, Sanford, FL PD has disregarded those restrictions just as he disregarded the 911 dispatcher/officer telling him not to pursue Trayvon Martin.

I believe we have a right to defend our families an ourselves we just can’t be the aggressor and then conveniently cry self defense.

Sanford PD did not do alcohol or drug testing again the investigation into this murder was flawed.

  13. Carol Says:

Whoa! Slow your horses boys. Robert, Rt has other fillies he may be interested in in the Bay Area.

  14. Peter Says:

Shoot one of them motherfuckers and see what happens. It is so disgusting that a black man’s life means so little to the white boy.

Al, this is the shit Robert, RT is talking about. You worry about being insulted with the term white boy. We worry about losing our lives to a white boy.

But to you your being insulted is so much worse. That’s the attitude that allows the white boy to get away with his sick shit.

    Peter

  15. Lance Says:

If you listen to the sanford police on that 91 tape you can clearly hear the dispatcher ask if the the person walking was black or hispanic.

It was a clear indication of racial profiling because the implication was if the person was white who was walking it was alright.

So the taxpayers were oka with paying the Sanford police department to go out and check on non whites walking through the neighborhood.

Just stop them and check, if you have to shoot him because he entered your space that’s okay too.

This wouldn’t happen to you Al, because you are white. But then someone could call you a white boy.

Of course being called a white boy won’t get your mother a call telling her you have been shot by one.

and it also sounds like Al is getting reamed by a big one with some serious moves, though – I dare say, Al (and you know ow much I dig you) you did ask for this shitstorm, did you not? That’s what happens when your mouth is the grand canyon : ) – still luv you, med up and come back please…

I say you have made similar outbursts that have been as discourteous to Michelle.

I am not accusing you or Al of being anti woman. I am just making a point that I don’t think you can refute.

Al, you still have the support of a lot of women.

    Norma

  21. Irene Says:

Zimmerman, called Martin a fucking coon during the 911 call. I’m white if the caller had used the negative “cracker” he would have been arrested the moment the cops arrived.

I question that police department. It appears they were sure their dismissal would make it go away.

    Irene

  22. Jerry Says:

The Police did a drug test and a background check of the black dead guy, but not the shooter.

If that is not a racist act, what would be called a racist act? It appears that the police were co-conspiritors in this drama. They didn’t want to produce the 911 because they knew that they would have been asked if the watch group Zimmerman was supposed to belong to was licensed and if not why were they treating it as so.

    Jerry

  23. Stella Says:

My brother who is a member of law enforcement said it was unheard of for the person who just killed someone not to be tested for stimulants.

It is official. The Right has gotten a pledge of $3.2 Billion dollars to defeat Obama. The money is coming from the financial industry and the military industrial complex.

The fact that most of he money is coming from those that own the factories and companies that produce products and services the military needs to exist means that the republicans will be producing budgets that call for increased military spending.

The fact that even those in the finance industry who contributed the most towards the defeat of Obama are heavily invested in the stock of those military industrial complexes says that those proposed military budget increases will be huge.

Walking? Leave the Weights at Home

Q: Is it a good idea to walk with hand weights or ankle weights?

A: No, it is not. Adding weight while walking will not burn significantly more calories or build extra muscle—instead, it may land you in the doctor’s office.

    Why is that?

If you have ever used a pedometer to track your footsteps, you know that people typically take thousands of steps each and every day.

When you add extra weight to a natural repetitive movement such as walking, you overload your muscles and joints and create imbalances that can quickly lead to inflammation, pain and decreased range of motion in your neck, shoulders, back, knees and/or ankles.

Fortunately, there are safe and simple ways to boost the challenge of your walking routine without using hand weights or ankle weights.

To build up your muscle strength and cardiovascular stamina…

    • Tackle some hills during your walk.
    • Try to increase your walking speed.
    • Include intervals in your workout by walking for four minutes, then jogging for 30 to 60 seconds.

Over time, as your fitness level improves, gradually increase the ratio of the time you spend jogging versus walking.

We are doing with a police cover up. That local police department never wanted the public to hear these two words. “fucking coon.”

It shows that they encourage racism by the private citizen targeting black males in that neighborhood.

I wonder if Al who is constantly railing about being called a white boy can feel the difference between being insulted and being hunted by people who have been given carte blanche by the local authorities to stalk and harm black males.

Actor Robert De Niro opened a fundraiser starring Michelle Obama by listing her Republican rivals and jokingly suggesting that America isn’t “ready for a white first lady.” Newt Gingrich was not amused, and the Obama campaign says the quip was inappropriate.

Gingrich on Tuesday called De Niro’s comment “inexcusable” and demanded an apology from President Barack Obama.

“I think that Robert De Niro’s wrong,” Gingrich said at a campaign stop in Shreveport, La. “The country is ready for a new first lady, and he doesn’t have to describe it in racial terms.”

Gingrich said the president should be held accountable “when someone at his event says something as utterly and totally unacceptable as Robert De Niro said last night. And I call on the president to apologize for him.”

Obama didn’t apologize, but his campaign didn’t stand by the actor’s sense of humor, either.

“We believe the joke was inappropriate,” said Mrs. Obama’s campaign press secretary, Olivia Alair. She declined further comment.

De Niro and his wife, Grace Hightower, were the hosts of the New York fundraiser Monday night. The tough-talking star of “Taxi Driver,”"Raging Bull,”"Casino,” and “Meet the Parents” opened the evening’s remarks by listing the wives of Republicans running for president.

“Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney,” he said. “Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?”

The crowd of big-dollar donors waiting to hear from the nation’s first black first lady roared in approval, and De Niro finished: “Too soon, right?”

Publicist Stan Rosenfield said De Niro wouldn’t respond to the criticism. “It was obvious satire,” Rosenfield said in an email.

Interesting how the white boy reacts to shit he has used against the OTW for 200 plus years. Reminds me of Al’s super sensitivity to being called a “boy” when it was a favorite means of dehumanizing black men for 250 plus years.

But use it as a reference to a white boy and he is out raged. It is intolerable! Reminds you of one of Robert, RT’s comments when he says if whites have done something contemptible to OTWs, they are advised to get over it, but any similar behavior towards white is supposed to be remembered in infamy.

This black woman says if they can’t take a joke, F’em.
