I don’t know about you, but I am disgusted with all that is and has been happening in our country. And even more puzzled by the stupidity and lack of action to change it.

Thanks Anonymous for the inspiration to post this today.

MICHAEL MOORE: The day the middle class died, 30 years ago

From time to time, someone under 30 will ask me, “When did this all begin, America’s downward slide?” They say they’ve heard of a time when working people could raise a family and send the kids to college on just one parent’s income (and that college in states like California and New York was almost free).

That anyone who wanted a decent paying job could get one. That people only worked five days a week, eight hours a day, got the whole weekend off and had a paid vacation every summer. That many jobs were union jobs, from baggers at the grocery store to the guy painting your house, and this meant that no matter how “lowly” your job was you had guarantees of a pension, occasional raises, health insurance and someone to stick up for you if you were unfairly treated.

Young people have heard of this mythical time — but it was no myth, it was real. And when they ask, “When did this all end?” I say, “It ended on this day: Aug. 5, 1981.”

Beginning on this date, 30 years ago, Big Business and the Right Wing decided to “go for it” — to see if they could actually destroy the middle class so that they could become richer themselves.

And they’ve succeeded.

On Aug. 5, 1981, President Ronald Reagan fired every member of the air traffic controllers union (PATCO) who’d defied his order to return to work and declared their union illegal. They had been on strike for just two days.

It was a bold and brash move. No one had ever tried it. What made it even bolder was that PATCO was one of only two unions that had endorsed Reagan for president! It sent a shock wave through workers across the country. If he would do this to the people who were with him, what would he do to us?

Reagan had been backed by Wall Street in his run for the White House and they, along with right-wing Christians, wanted to restructure America and turn back the tide that President Franklin D. Roosevelt started — a tide that was intended to make life better for the average working person. The rich hated paying better wages and providing benefits. They hated paying taxes even more. And they despised unions. The right-wing Christians hated anything that sounded like socialism or holding out a helping hand to minorities or women.

Reagan promised to end all that. So when the air traffic controllers went on strike, he seized the moment. In getting rid of every single last one of them and outlawing their union, he sent a clear and strong message: The days of everyone having a comfortable middle class life were over. America, from now on, would be run this way:

• The super-rich will make more, much much more, and the rest of you will scramble for the crumbs that are left.

• Everyone must work! Mom, dad, the teenagers in the house! Dad, you work a second job! Kids, here’s your latch-key! Your parents might be home in time to put you to bed.

• 50 million of you must go without health insurance! And health insurance companies: you go ahead and decide who you want to help — or not.

• Unions are evil! You will not belong to a union! You do not need an advocate! Shut up and get back to work! No, you can’t leave now, we’re not done. Your kids can make their own dinner.

• You want to go to college? No problem — just sign here and be in hock to a bank for the next 20 years!

• What’s “a raise”? Get back to work and shut up!

And so it went. But Reagan could not have pulled this off by himself in 1981. He had some big help:

The AFL-CIO.

The biggest organization of unions in America told its members to cross the picket lines of the air traffic controllers and go to work. And that’s just what these union members did. Union pilots, flight attendants, delivery truck drivers, baggage handlers — they all crossed the line and helped to break the strike. And union members of all stripes crossed the picket lines and continued to fly.

Reagan and Wall Street could not believe their eyes! Hundreds of thousands of working people and union members endorsed the firing of fellow union members. It was Christmas in August for Corporate America.

And that was the beginning of the end. Reagan and the Republicans knew they could get away with anything — and they did. They slashed taxes on the rich. They made it harder for you to start a union at your workplace. They eliminated safety regulations on the job. They ignored the monopoly laws and allowed thousands of companies to merge or be bought out and closed down. Corporations froze wages and threatened to move overseas if the workers didn’t accept lower pay and less benefits. And when the workers agreed to work for less, they moved the jobs overseas anyway.

And at every step along the way, the majority of Americans went along with this. There was little opposition or fight-back. The “masses” did not rise up and protect their jobs, their homes, their schools (which used to be the best in the world). They just accepted their fate and took the beating.

I have often wondered what would have happened had we all just stopped flying, period, back in 1981. What if all the unions had said to Reagan, “Give those controllers their jobs back or we’re shutting the country down!”? You know what would have happened. The corporate elite and their boy Reagan would have buckled.

But we didn’t do it. And so, bit by bit, piece by piece, in the ensuing 30 years, those in power have destroyed the middle class of our country and, in turn, have wrecked the future for our young people. Wages have remained stagnant for 30 years. Take a look at the statistics and you can see that every decline we’re now suffering with had it’s beginning in 1981.

It all began on this day, 30 years ago. One of the darkest days in American history. And we let it happen to us. Yes, they had the money, and the media and the cops. But we had 200 million of us. Ever wonder what it would look like if 200 million got truly upset and wanted their country, their life, their job, their weekend, their time with their kids back?

Have we all just given up? What are we waiting for? Forget about the 20 percent who support the Tea Party — we are the other 80 percent! This decline will only end when we demand it. And not through an online petition or a tweet. We are going to have to turn the TV and the computer and the video games off and get out in the streets (like they’ve done in Wisconsin). Some of you need to run for local office next year. We need to demand that the Democrats either get a spine and stop taking corporate money — or step aside.

When is enough, enough? The middle class dream will not just magically reappear. Wall Street’s plan is clear: America is to be a nation of Haves and Have Nothings. Is that OK for you?

Why not use today to pause and think about the little steps you can take to turn this around in your neighborhood, at your workplace, in your school?

Is there any better day to start than today?

Readers: Michael Moore, I feel is usually so passionate in his writes,  but even his ending words lacks the passion I am used to hearing from him. I find that same lack in myself – have we hit bottom and don’t know what to do? I love Michael Moore and all that he stands for, but in my opinion, now is not the time to pause and think. There are no little steps to take. That is what we have been doing and the little steps are giving us just that…little progress.  Now is the time to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps…now is the time to stop thinking and start doing…and be even stronger willed in our actions to bring about the change that we want to happen.

Where is the fight to make it right?

We need to take HUGE steps…to make HUGE changes. That is what the republicans do when they want to change something – they go for the extreme, and are blind to the needs of anyone else but their own. They are willing to do whatever it takes to ruin the middle class, overflow their pockets,  and ensure that Obama fails as our president. What are we willing to do to ensure that our middle class survives, that a good life isn’t just reserved for the top 1%, an that Obama makes it to his second term? What extreme measures are we going to take to get what we want? Is it time to rise in rebellion? Because doing what we’re doing is not working.

Where is the fight to make it right?

Chuck: I HOPE everyone read your post. I refuse to buy products from China. I want to support Made In The USA where ever possible, which is hard to do these days. And especially for the main reason,  that China cuts corners and their cheap manufacturing practices provides us with inferior products, and many with toxic ingredients. I’ve written about it here quite a few times, and I encourage everyone to look at labels when purchasing something, if for nothing else but your own health. If what you say is true, how easy it is to give up buying items Made In China. If only people would ban together and just do it.

Where is the fight to make it right?

Madaline, mentioned it a few days ago, and it seems what she saying is true: “The word is out for CEO’s to reduce orders, freeze hiring, and to manipulate the market to ruin the 401Ks of the middle class.” Every time I turn on the news, it is nothing but bad news: Corporations trying to take away the rights of their workers – Verizon wireless was the latest example that I saw.

And Mitt Romney says, “Corporations are people”. Well…unfortunately we do allow the corporations to be set up with all the right of a living person, but we know Romney wasn’t referring to the rights of corporations when he made that statement.

From Rachel Maddow’s Blog: If you are curious about the veracity of Mitt Romney’s statement, I highly recommend the informative arecorporationspeople.com.

Where is the fight to make it right?

Cliff: The win would’ve been there for the Dems had the people showed up and voted for the Dems. Did enough Dems show up but didn’t vote for the change as we expected? Did the millions backing the republicans win out?

Where is the fight to make it right?

Doug: That was of the most horrifying,  riveting story of racial violence I have ever seen.  Where was this on the news? I had never seen this. If this had been a white man killed by a gang of black boys we never would have heard the end of it. Rhonda said it: “This happened June 26 but I didn’t know of it until I read your post. This says more to me than what these young people did.”

What I’m learning is that if anybody condones discriminating against another human being with respect to race, color, sex…you open the door for anything to be done to another person. The door has been opened wide.

Where is the fight to make it right?

  2. Tracy Says:

Michelle, I don’t think Wisconsin was a total loss. I see it as a notice to the republican party that the people will not take anything they do lying down.

While we didn’t get the three we needed to change the system, we showed them that revulsion can be channeled into a viable political movement that can sometimes propel progressive candidates into office and at other times at least force conservative candidates to keep watching their back.

  3. Paul Says:

The buzz is the race is going to be between Rick Perry of Texas and Romney.

But I wouldn’t count our Gingrich. He is owned by the big money boys and is known to do anything for a buck. They want him in liked they wanted Ronald Reagan. He is more glib than Reagan without the need to prompt him on every issue.

  4. Health Info Says:

Wearing Flip-Flops Can Cause Pain in the Lower Legs.

When people wear flip-flops, the muscles at the front of their shins work harder than they do when they walk barefoot.

Also: The decreased cushioning from the thin soles on most flip-flops results in increased pressure on the foot, causing lower-leg pain.

Better: Buy flip-flops with heel cups and arch support, which allow the leg to work more naturally.

Bottom Line/Personal interviewed Justin Shroyer, PhD, assistant professor of kinesiology, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and leader of a study of more than 100 people, presented at the 2010 annual meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine.

  5. General Info Says:

The Best Used Cars Under $6,000
    Karl Brauer

D emand for some used cars increased recently as disruptions in Japanese auto and parts production led buyers to seek alternatives. But you still can find good deals for around $6,000 or less — if you choose carefully and negotiate well.

    HOW TO FIND BARGAINS

Check the mileage. Search for used vehicles that were driven significantly less than the typical 15,000 miles per year. Asking prices tend to be more highly correlated with a used car’s age than its mileage, but it is lower mileage that tends to be the better indicator that a car still has a lot of life left in it.

Sign up with Carfax for background checks on particular cars (www.Carfax.com, $44.99 for reports on up to five vehicles).

Carfax compiles data on vehicles from more than 34,000 sources, including service centers, mechanics, insurance companies and motor vehicle agencies based on the vehicle identification number.

This service is not perfect, but it can help you weed out many problem vehicles that have been involved in accidents or have lengthy repair histories, odometer rollbacks or other red flags.

Helpful: Be wary of used vehicles that Carfax says have been registered in more than one state over the years. Sellers sometimes move cars from state to state to hide serious problems in their history, such as salvage titles, which typically are issued when a vehicle has such major problems that an insurer has deemed it a total loss.

Get the vehicle’s maintenance records. Car owners who have comprehensive maintenance records tend to be car owners who take good care of their cars. Ask for maintenance records even if you buy from a dealer.

Get a prepurchase inspection. Expect to pay a mechanic $100 to $200 per inspection. Make sure it includes a road test. If you don’t already have a mechanic you trust, ask friends for recommendations.

Among the most reliable used car options for around $6,000 or less…

    HATCHBACK

2003 Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix. The Vibe and Matrix are sister cars, built in the same factory and differing only in the nameplates attached to them. Whatever it is called, this is a reliable, fuel-efficient five-door hatchback with so much interior room that it sometimes is referred to as a small station wagon or even a mini-SUV.

Price: Base models in good condition from 2003 are selling for an average of $5,880, compared with an original manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) that started at $14,670. Fuel economy: 25 miles per gallon (MPG) city/30 highway.*

    COMPACT SEDAN

2005 Hyundai Elantra. The Elantra has been a terrific high-reliability, low-problem car ever since its 2001 redesign. It offers excellent fuel economy with a smooth ride and well-designed interior relative to other cars in its class. The 2005 Elantra is perhaps the newest well-made vehicle that is likely to sell for less than $6,000 with reasonably low miles.

Price: The base model sedan is selling for $5,520 on average, compared with an original MSRP that started at $13,599. MPG: 21 city/29 highway.

    MIDSIZED SEDAN

2002 Toyota Camry. Despite some recent well-publicized Toyota recalls, arguably no vehicle matches the Camry when it comes to offering solid build, quality, dependability and a quiet ride at a reasonable price. A 2002 redesign brought additional interior space, a more powerful engine and a smoother transmission, among other improvements.

Price: Base model 2002 Camrys now average $5,930, compared with an original MSRP that started at $18,970. MPG: 21 city/29 highway.

    LARGE SEDAN

2003 Ford Crown Victoria. Crown Vics provide the comfortable, safe driving experience that big-car buyers crave. They hold up very well as they age, and they were made in such large numbers in the past decade that there are plenty of used ones available, keeping resale prices and parts prices relatively low.

Many Crown Victorias are used as police cars and taxis. That’s a testament to their durability, but you probably don’t want to own one that was driven as hard as cabs and police cars tend to be, so check the Carfax report to confirm that the one you select has always been in private hands.

Price: Currently, 2003 base model Crown Victorias sell for an average of $5,610, down from an original MSRP that started at $23,705. MPG: 16 city/23 highway.

    SPORTS CAR/CONVERTIBLE

2001 Mazda Miata. The sporty two-seater Miata offers possibly the most fun top-down driving experience you can find for a reasonable price. It also is quite reliable and relatively fuel-efficient.

Many Miatas have been sold, so there typically are plenty of used ones to choose among. They hold their value well, however, so you might have to buy a car that’s more than 10 years old to get a Miata in good shape for under $6,000. (For around $8,000, you should be able to find a Miata that’s a few years newer.)

Price: Base model Miatas from 2001 are selling for an average of $5,270, down from an original MSRP that started at $21,180. MPG: 20 city/25 highway.

    MINIVAN

2002 Honda Odyssey. The Odyssey has been the best minivan on the market since its 1999 redesign. It is well-made, reliable and roomy. Its crash safety scores are hard to beat, and its hideaway third-row seats are very easy to fold and unfold.

The only downside is that 1999 through 2004 Odysseys experienced automatic transmission problems at a higher-than-normal rate, leaving some owners with repair bills in excess of $3,000.

Before buying a 2002 (or 2003 or 2004) Odyssey, confirm through service records or Carfax reports that it received the recall procedure meant to address this problem. (Honda offered an extended transmission warranty on 1999 through 2001 models, but it is no longer in effect.)

Prices: The 2002 Odyssey LX base model currently averages $6,140, down from an original MSRP that started at $24,250. MPG: 16 city/23 highway.

    MINI SUV

2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. The extremely reliable, well-designed Santa Fe stands out as the clear bargain in the pricey SUV pack. The only downside is that models with the 2.4-liter base package engine are a bit underpowered. They might struggle to tow a trailer or carry a full load of passengers up a steep incline.

Price: A 2004 base model Santa Fe is likely to cost around $6,060, but expect to pay perhaps $1,000 more for one with the larger 3.5-liter engine. Base models had an original MSRP starting at $17,999. MPG: 18 city/25 highway.

    PICKUP TRUCK

2003 Ford F150. The versatile, durable F150 has been the best-selling truck for many years, so there usually are plenty of used ones to choose among at competitive prices. Its ride and handling are better than those of most pickups, too.

Trucks are designed to endure rough use, but it’s best to seek out one that has been babied. Examples of how to spot problems: If there’s little life left in a pickup’s rear springs and shocks, it will sag when parked on a level surface.

If it drifts rather than holding a straight line during your test drive, or if there are significant dents or scrapes along the lower bodywork and/or the major underbody components, it could mean that the truck has had a hard life of hauling or off-road driving and is best avoided.

    Dear Fellow “Billionaire/Corporate Jet Owner”,

Michelle, I received this from Human Events touting a free issue of Ann Coulter’s book. It is just as Robert said. They are rewarding this greedy person by buying up her books, and reselling them to the conservatives cheap so they can pay to join some other program they have to offer.

It is all about making money from the flock. Each new gimmick tells them the same old crap. How right they are and how stupid we are.

Read how they insult us to make their rank and file feel so intellectually superior. You have to be seriously bigoted or in need believing you are better than another person to buy most of this inane dribble.

    ========================================

Even though my new book is riding high on the bestseller lists, I want to send you a free copy. Yes, free.

That’s how important I believe it is for you read Demonic: How the Liberal Mob in Endangering America.

I’ll tell you how to receive your gift copy in just a second. But first, I want to ask you one question:

Did your blood boil as you watched the violent spectacles in Wisconsin staged by Democrat-led public-sector unions?

If so, brace yourself for what’s ahead. As the 2012 election draws nearer, I fear sickening scenes like this will become as frequent as Nancy Pelosi’s Botox appointments. Heck, some blunt-speaking Democrats already admit they’re going to get rough.

“It’s not going to be 2008 ‘Yes, we can’ anymore. I think it’s going to be slash-and-burn,” said Democratic pollster Paul Maslin.

Translation: The outright thuggery we witnessed in Madison was a preview of how Democrats will use mob tactics to try and re-elect their failed president whose catastrophic policies have brought America to the brink of ruin.

I agree with the candid pollster that Obamacrats, driven by their mob mentality, will decide they have little choice but to resort to bullying in 2012.

You see, in 2008 (AKA “the Year of the Second Coming” to liberals), Barack Obama had no record to run on. He was free to campaign with vague promises of “hope and change” while counting on foolish independents and naïve young people to project their own wishes upon him like a blank screen.

But in 2012, Obama will have no such luxury. We know who he is now. He can’t hide behind hope. Or change. His record, as the old political saying goes, “stinks and shines like a mackerel in the moonlight.” Which is why…

Democrats will use the same vile “Wisconsin Strategy” to frighten conservatives and independents and make them fearful of daring to unelect the first African-American president of the United States.

Liberals and Mobs: A Long Love Affair

Demonic: How the Liberal Mob is Endangering America reveals why mob strategy is essential to motivating modern liberalism. From union thugs to student radicals to pro-ObamaCare fanatics, use of mobs IS the grand tradition of Stalin, Mao, Hitler, gas chambers and the guillotine.

Ask yourself… Have you ever seen a “conservative mob?” Can you imagine a “Republican riot?” The notion is absurd.

Yet, riots, strikes, demonstrations, civil (and uncivil) disobedience, beatings, protests, sit-ins, boycotts, firebombings, and general public mayhem are the mother’s milk of the liberal mob mentality.

In Demonic, you’ll find answers to questions you’ve probably asked yourself dozens of times as you watched news clips of enraged liberals running amok:

    • Why do liberals activate mobs, depend on mobs, coddle mobs, publicize and celebrate mobs? (The tradition goes way, way back, as I prove.)

    • What do highly educated liberals find so admirable about brutal, violent thugs like Castro, Stalin and Mao? (You’ll be repulsed, but fascinated, when I reveal the shocking truth.)

    • Why is it that conservatives revere the American Revolution (which was about ideas) — but liberals find inspiration in the horrors of the French Reign of Terror, the Bolshevik Revolution, Mao’s Cultural Revolution, Pol Pot’s slaughter and today’s deranged anarchist smashups wherever bankers come to town? (The answer will prepare you for what’s coming.)
I’ve arranged for you to receive a gift copy of Demonic: How the Liberal Mob is Endangering America just for trying my favorite newspaper on the face of the planet… Human Events.

Human Events is the publication I have called my editorial home for 14 years. Not only do I write regularly for Human Events, I devour it from cover to cover every week.

Why? Because it’s the one news source I can count on to bring me the absolute, unvarnished, hard-hitting truth. And so should you.

Human Events is written and edited by gutsy people who will rescue you from the sticky tar pit of political correctness that passes for contemporary reporting… not girlie-boy editors afraid of sticking to their guns!

That means by reading Human Events, you and I can count on learning the news the liberal media try so hard to keep from us!

    For example…

In a recent issue of Human Events, I learned that of all those “thousands of acres” Obama speaks of as ready for oil drilling in U.S. waters…virtually none have been found to have any oil! In other words, Obama has no intention of opening new drilling anywhere in the U.S. — no matter how high the price of gasoline soars.

I also learned in Human Events that Obama’s “economic stimulus” was simply a gargantuan gift to the states — to make sure pampered government workers did not share the same painful fate as private-sector workers who lost jobs by the millions.

I found out in Human Events that ObamaCare is so brilliant and so wonderful that trade unions and companies friendly to the president are fleeing it by the thousands. In fact, Obama’s health plan is so desirable that 20% of the exemptions have gone to Nancy Pelosi’s posh district in San Francisco!

You could search the liberal press from now until Whoopi Goldberg votes Republican, and you wouldn’t find news items like these seeing the light of day.

Now you know why I think you and Human Events should get together.

There’s so much at stake today. America is facing its biggest financial crisis of modern times and liberals just don’t get it. Never has it been more important for you to get the truth — and not just the P.C. pabulum dished up by the mainstream media.

And now you can try Human Events with this special introductory offer — a full 30-week trial subscription at the reduced rate of just $39.95… a little more than a dollar an issue.

And don’t forget — you’ll also receive as a FREE gift my just-published and (what else?) very provocative book…

Demonic: How the Liberal Mob is Endangering America

My book will not only give you a mesmerizing peek into the fever-swamp that passes for liberal thinking, it will also prepare you for the onslaught that is coming in 2012.

You know how liberals worship their “deities” — FDR, JFK, RFK, MLK, the list goes on and on — but can you imagine their rage at even the thought of Barack Hussein Obama becoming a failed, one-term president? How dare you, America!

Thousands of Americans will be caught off guard by liberals’ outrageous actions in an attempt to save Obama. Not you. You’ll know every step of the way what’s coming — from the public sector unions, the left-dominated universities, the Obama-obsessed popular culture, and the hard-core liberal media — because you’ll know exactly how their mob-loving, totalitarian minds work.

Try Human Events Risk-Free and Get Your Gift Copy of
Demonic: How the Liberal Mob is Endangering America
    ABSOLUTELY FREE

I think you’ll thrive with Human Events. After all, there’s a certain cachet to reading a publication that is universally damned by liberal elites who increasingly resemble the idle degenerates who once populated the czar’s court.

Frankly, not everyone has the courage to read Human Events. It is far easier to just swallow what the establishment media dish out and nod in agreement with the bovine herd. Sad but true.

But I think you’re exceptional. You have the courage to think for yourself. You’ve read this far, haven’t you?

Why not take the next step? Just send the card and try Human Events for yourself.

But please don’t delay. Only a limited number of copies of my new book, Demonic: How The Liberal Mob Is Endangering America, can be set aside for complimentary distribution. Be sure to claim your copy below!

Yours for a one-term Obama presidency!

There is only one reason birthers still exist. RACISM. You can use whatever reason to justify yourselves, but everyone else knows why you are suddenly so “concerned” about the citizenship of THIS President.

The thing is the more you make fools of yourselves ranting about America’s first Black President not being a citizen, the more you encourage other OTWs that they too can aspire to be President of the USA.

Actually that’s a very good thing considering what the first 43 white men did to this country. Think about it.

They attempted to start 13 little fiefdoms for themselves so that they wouldn’t have to pay taxes. Something like what the super rich white bastards are attempting today(some things never change with greedy white bastards, eh)?

They also attempted to control the people in those 13 little fiefdoms with religion. They made anything they couldn’t pass a civil law to prevent a sin against god so they could still control the people. Something like the manipulative white bastards are trying to do today(some things just never change for the little white bastards).

They started their 13 little fiefdoms and what freedoms they promised they did it for WHITE Land Owning MEN only. Something like they are attempting to return to today(some things will never change for the racist little white bastards).

The following 42 white male Presidents pretty much followed suit. There were a few(perhaps not truly white men) who did some honorable things. There were a few more who attempted to do some honorable things, but like our present BLACK President they were up against deceitful, manipulative, racists like yourself.

OTWs know the ilk. People who call themselves “Conservative.” So they can feel smug about believing that they deserve Affirmative Action Benefits because of the color of their skins and their sex.

But like everything else racism has entered the modern age. So the truly greedy White bastards use it to manipulate the ignorant like you into believing that they care about race when their chief aim is to fill their pockets by marketing racism in nice pretty packages to their racially neurotic customers.

That is the reason you have so many reasons why “birthers” still exist:” Everyone of those “reasons” was followed by a book or some other offer for you to purchase or donate money to, or to help some candidate to make it into office so he could STOP that BLACK man from taking YOUR country.

Makes you feel good to be told that the BLACK President is not legitimate, doesn’t it? You get to feel that YOUR country has still only been run by those 43 White men.

You keep that little feeling and I and the rest of the OTWs will keep ours that now, ANYONE regardless of the color of his or her skin can become the President of OUR country.

I think that fucks you up enough to hear, so bye.

    Robert

  9. Scott Says:

    Chester:

I checked out your links. They were interestingly desperate, I mean the ones that were still up.

The first two were repeats, the next three were missing perhaps because of the silliness of their material. The following two were repeats of of equally inane claims.

A bunch more missings. I’m sure you knew that these were missing when you put them in but like your bullshit topic you wanted to make it seem like there was a lot more to your claim than there was, so you went for the volume, or the making it seem like there was a lot.

Oh, and I loved the one that claimed that the number of hits to the site was frozen at 300 because it had gotten so many hits that the counting had to be frozen. Thats the kind of ignorant bullshit that only a seriously psychotic racist would believe.

And I liked the one that interviewed the court marshaled LTC Lakin. Here you have a coward that was too afraid to go to Afghanistan so he pretended he wasn’t going because he didn’t believe that Obama was a citizen.

I think the war protesters in the 60′s are the ones that had honor and integrity when they refused to serve. This coward merely used racist like you to get over.

He got the benefits of being a LT Colonel in the military but when it came time to earn those benefits he chose to tuck his tail and claim he was doing it because he didn’t believe in the President.

How about the fact that the war was started by Bush? How about the fact he was supposed to be defending, if not avenging, the deaths of those in 9/11?

I guess he could ignore that when the yellow started to run down his back. It also shows how desperate you racists must be to accept this coward as a saint in your movement.

I can see the validity of the claim that many whites suffer from a racial neurosis and a few like you Chester have advanced into a stage of psychosis.

I think Doug, TMD has given you psychos the best advice. “take your meds.”

Common you can’t be seriously taking this terrible attempt to make a claim against Obama as legitimate.

One would have to truly need to feel superior to take that pathetic attempt at authenticity to heart.

And what’s with the not finishing this ditty? “Fox News Contributor Major General Paul Vallely: I’ve had retired CIA Agents and”

Are we the readers supposed to believe that there is so much more here like in your claim at the end ” 1. Would you like more?

    Yeah, right.

  11. Health Info Says:

    MIND OVER MILKSHAKES

Imagine drinking a sensible fruit-and-protein-powder smoothie. Now stop a minute, clear your mind, and imagine you’re drinking a luscious milkshake made with premium ice cream — you know, something really rich and creamy. Which one would make you feel fuller?

I know what your answer is (same as mine when I did this thought experiment). But the real (and surprising) answer is, the shake that makes you feel fuller in real life depends on what you think you’re drinking, not on what you actually are drinking.

And that suggests an intriguing way that we can all use psychology to sidestep overeating.

In a clever study exploring the mind’s ability to control how the body responds to food, Yale University doctoral candidate Alia J. Crum gave an identical 380-calorie milkshake to two groups of people, telling one group it was an indulgent 620-calorie shake… and the other that it was a sensible 140-calorie shake.

It was the same drink, but it brought wildly different results in the two groups, not only mentally, but also physically.

When researchers took blood samples from each participant and measured his/her level of ghrelin, the body’s “hunger hormone” (the lower the level, the less hungry you feel), they found lower levels in the “high-fat shake” group —

as low, in fact, as if they actually had consumed the high-fat drink — than in the “low-fat shake” group.

And remember, they were all drinking the same shake! “Mind Over Milkshakes,” as the study was dubbed, was published online recently in Health Psychology.

What does this tell us? In short, Crum said, it tells us that the gut can be tricked into feeling full or feeling unsatisfied depending on what people believe they’re eating.

Crum was not surprised by the fact that the mind-set produced physiological effects — it’s well-known that emotions affect us physically — but she had expected the exact opposite of what happened.

“Originally we assumed that thinking the shake was ‘sensible’ would be better for the body. Instead, we found that thinking the shake was ‘indulgent’ was better,” because it left people more satisfied.

Can we trick our brains into thinking a food is indulgent when we know it’s not? Yes, Crum said, as long as we redefine what indulgence means —

and infuse a celebratory feel to traditional, minor excesses, such as allowing ourselves a small side order of French fries, one slice of pizza and even an occasional full-fat milkshake.

Taking extra time for a leisurely meal is an indulgence, Crum notes, as is focusing on tasty ingredients in healthy foods.

Even a salad can be turned into something indulgent, Crum said, if we make a point of seeing the cheese, nuts, croutons or specially made dressing as part of a real treat.

“I don’t think we have to trick the mind into thinking food is higher or lower in calories,” Crum told me.

“Instead of focusing on how much we are eating, we should focus on stopping and appreciating the food, allowing ourselves to have the sense that whatever we eat is something special and more than enough.”

We all know the old adage “mind over matter,” and yet we seldom marshal the determination to do what we know we can do — and that is to realize the power we have to make changes.

Just say to yourself, mind over milkshake… take the time to really enjoy everything you eat or drink… and see what happens.
