Morgan Freeman Speaks Out On Racism
Posted by Michelle Moquin on September 26th, 2011
Good morning!
Alycedale: This one’s for you. They aired the Morgan Freeman interview on Piers Morgan last friday night, and last night as well, which is when I had the opportunity to watch it.
For those of you who didn’t catch it, here is a segment where Morgan Freeman discussed his belief that the right wing Tea Party’s anti-Obama stance is rooted in racism.:
Readers: And if you didn’t read the article that Alycedale provided the link for, here it is:
Morgan Freeman: Tea Party Is Racist, They’re Out To Get Obama
Morgan Freeman laid down the chips on the Tea Party in a new interview with Piers Morgan that is due to air Friday night.
The Oscar-winning actor sat down with the British TV host and, amongst other things, discussed his belief that the right wing Tea Party’s anti-Obama stance is rooted in racism.
When asked by Morgan whether Obama’s presidency has made racism in the United States better or worse, Freeman, who once played apartheid-defying South African president Nelson Mandela, frankly stated that his time in office has made it worse, as he has become a target of the right’s aggression.
“Their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term,” the actor said. “What’s, what does that, what underlines that? ‘Screw the country. We’re going to whatever we do to get this black man, we can, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man outta here.’”
Declaring once again that “it’s a racist thing,” Freeman said the group’s rise has shown the hate still lingering in America.
“Well, it just shows the weak, dark, underside of America,” he said. “We’re supposed to be better than that. We really are. That’s, that’s why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president. “Ah, look at what we are. Look at how, this is America.” You know? And then it just sort of started turning because these people surfaced like stirring up muddy water.”
The actor continued, saying that he understood President Obama not fighting back, seeking to stick to his principles, but wishes that he’d be more aggressive now.
Freeman endorsed Obama during his run for the presidency, but declined to campaign with him, saying that he was an actor, not a politician. He attended a White House Civil Rights concert in 2010.
***********
Alycedale: In answer to your question, I would say, “But of course!”.
And then you’ve got republican Herman Cain’s comments, that certainly help to convince the OTW’s that it never occurs to white America, because guess what? It doesn’t occur to him(!):
Herman Cain, fresh from a resounding victory in the Florida Presidency 5 stray poll, calls out Freeman’s ignorance.
“Well, first of all, I doubt if Morgan Freeman, with all due respect, who’s a great actor, has ever been to a Tea Party. Most of the people that are criticizing the Tea Parties… about having a racist element, they have never been to a Tea Party.”
“I just think that it’s sad that they’re so short-sighted understanding what the Tea Party citizen movement is all about. I’m not offended by it, because it doesn’t slow down my momentum. It doesn’t slow down the reaction I get from people.”
Cain, whose campaign is riding high after winning the Florida straw poll, added, “Name-calling is something that’s going to continue, because they don’t know how to stop this movement. And this movement is making a big difference in politics.”
“A lot of the traditional Democrats are moving to the center or moving over to vote for conservatives. They’re taking another look at a Herman Cain.”
What would Democrats like Freeman do if Herman Cain won the Republican nomination?
And who’s calling who ignorant?!
Blog me. Peace out.

WANT TO GET SLIM FAST? HOW TO AVOID FAILING AT WEIGHT LOSS
How many people do you know who have tried… and tried… and tried to lose weight but just can’t do it?
It just might be that you are one of them — and if so, you have plenty of company.
Just last year more than 50 million Americans went on diets — and the vast majority (95%) of those men and women are in no better shape today.
As anyone who has tried losing weight knows, it requires lots of planning and attitude adjustment if you want to succeed.
Happily I had an opportunity to speak recently with Bill Phillips, author of the perennial best seller Body for LIFE and the new book Transformation: The Mindset You Need, The Body You Want, The Life You Deserve.
I asked him to share his proven techniques for getting past the traps that catch people when they’re trying to shed pounds and gain better health.
THREE SECRETS OF SUCCESS
Phillips said that if you want to lose weight, the first thing you need to do is reframe the idea. Instead of thinking about dieting, realize that you are about to transform your life for the better.
Since losing weight benefits your entire life on many levels — not just when you get on the scale — he encourages people to come up with a holistic plan that encompasses changes for your mind, body and soul.
And this is not as hard as it sounds! Phillips said he has found three factors critical to success:
Maintain a positive perspective.
Stay motivated.
Stay focused.
These concepts can seem so basic, and yet so big at the same time, that it is easy to stop before you start. But Phillips knows how you can avoid that…
The Trap: Fad diets and other restrictive plans.
Whether it’s eating mostly protein or only cabbage soup, fad and crash diets are nutritionally unsound and totally lacking in enjoyment, making them ultimately doomed to failure — few people can live long-term with so many restrictions.
Instead: Plan for a new way of life.
“Transformation is a process of changing the whole person to become healthier, happier, lighter, more energized and aware,” Phillips said, suggesting you figure out what dietary changes you need to make for your new life rather than putting yourself on a “diet.”
Instead of trying to eat foods that you don’t like, learn how to make healthy versions of the meals that you do like.
He explains, “My favorite dinner foods are chicken enchiladas, spaghetti and meatballs and homemade thin crust pizza.
The key is I’ve learned how to make these meals so they’re high in nutrients, low in calories and as delicious as ever.” (These and other recipes can be found for free on Phillips’ Web site, http://www.Transformation.com.)
The Trap: Lacking focus and a goal.
Without a specific focus — a clearly defined goal — most everyone will have trouble staying on the straight and narrow path.
Phillips said, “The mind seems to work somewhat like a GPS system in the modern car. If you don’t program in the specific coordinates of where you want to go, it can’t help you get there.”
Instead: Be clear about where you’re starting and where you’re going.
As soon as you identify a target that can be objectively measured — such as becoming 30 pounds lighter in 18 weeks — it’s like you turn the headlights on after driving all night in the dark.
Think about that GPS system again and how it’s akin to the human mind — when we are crystal clear about where we are going, it’s remarkable how it will help us get there.
The Trap: Excuses, excuses.
If you’re carrying around a mental list of reasons why your plan won’t work — such as I don’t have time to exercise or cook healthy foods or I’m too old for this — you can be sure that you’ll fail.
Instead: Focus on the true reward.
Phillips encourages people trying to lose weight to look inward for the reasons why. “One deeply purposeful reason will override 100 excuses,” states Phillips.
Superficial reasons, such as, I don’t want to be embarrassed at the reunion next month, or wanting to look better than someone else, may not have the power to inspire over the long term.
Phillips finds that when people connect with the deeper reasons for transforming their health, it can be like flipping a switch…
where they go from struggling to maintaining new, positive habits to an almost instant and somewhat effortless compliance.
Many people who have a health crisis experience this jolt instantly — they realize that if they don’t nurture their well-being and cut out the unhealthy patterns of action, they’re not going to be there for their kids, grandkids, friends or coworkers.
“The more ‘other-centered’ people’s reasons for making the decision to change, the more power in the near and long-term they have,” Phillips finds.
Tip: Write your reasons for wanting to lose weight on an index card, and keep it with you.
The next time you are tempted to dip a chip at a party or skip your morning workout, take a look at your note to remind yourself why it’s better to just say no.
The Trap: Constantly weighing yourself.
Amazingly, your body weight can fluctuate up to several pounds over the course of one day — and most of that is water weight.
Not losing as you expect or, worse, gaining weight one day can throw you off … some people think, why bother? and immediately sabotage their success.
Instead: Step off the scale.
Weigh yourself only once a week — preferably on the same day at the same time each week.
In the interim, pay attention to how you feel (lighter? more energetic?) and how your clothes fit.
The Trap: Everyone else is indulging!
Without a strong and supportive group of people around you, it’s way too easy to get off track — bad habits are contagious!
Instead: Enlist help from friends and family.
Tell people you love what you are trying to do and ask for support, encouragement and help.
Invite an upbeat friend or neighbor to join you in regular walks or bike rides — it’ll be more fun and will motivate you to stick with the program.
Join a community weight-loss support group or take part in free support groups at http://www.Transformation.com.
“You don’t have to completely disconnect from friends who haven’t yet made the decision to be healthy, but it’s important to have contact with at least one other person each day who’s making the kind of positive, challenging changes that you are making.”
The Trap: Getting discouraged.
If you measure your progress by what hasn’t happened (you’re not thin yet!) rather than what has (your eating habits are getting healthier, your jeans are loose), you are at risk for falling into what Phillips calls “The Void.”
In this frame of mind, you may convince yourself that you have failed and abandon your transformation journey altogether.
Instead: Invent a game you can win.
Forget about pursuing perfection, and focus on making progress. List very specific steps you can take today or this week that move you in the direction of your meaningful and specific goals.
Example: “Today I will eat six nutrient-rich, calorie-sparse meals and work out for 30 minutes.”
The big secret to weight-loss success is sustainability, says Phillips.
Take joy in your small improvements each day and week — such as your new ways of eating and exercising and the energy, self-confidence and sense of well-being that comes with them.
There’s only one real way to fail, he adds — and that’s to stop trying.

I’m all for Obama getting tougher on the Tea Party. He will have my support.

Why does Herman Cain “carry some weight” according to the “Holloywood Gossip? Because he is a black man. That is racists to suggest that only a black man can criticize Obama.
If the criticism has merit it does not matter who criticizes Obama. Obama isn’t perfect, he does several things I am critical of. I’m certain that that is true of many people regardless of their race.
Herman Cain missed the purpose for which he was put on Fox’s “Your world with Neil Cavuto.” It was solely to use a black man to counter Morgan Freeman’s claim that the tea party is racist. Anyone watching the video could see that as soon as Cain put down Morgan’s comment Neil was ready to close him out.
And let’s not miss the assurance the site gave to those in the tea party who know that Herman Cain is running on the GOP ticket for the US presidential nomination.
They made it perfectly clear that Cain having an opportunity to win the republican nomination and perhaps going on to become President of the US would not happen in the republican party with this comment to their members.
“Herman Cain will never occupy the Oval Office, but he’s become a popular figure on the campaign trail this fall, and as an African-American, his rebuttal to Morgan Freeman’s controversial comments about the Tea Party carries some weight.
That is all a black candidate could ever be to the tea party, “a popular figure on the campaign trail.” Actually that is all any black man could have been to either party until Obama won the presidential nomination for his party.
But as you can see, the tea party is making it perfectly clear that that will not happen here. I quote them again for clarity.
Cain like Thomas either refuses to acknowledge he is a token or he enjoys the roll of house nigger for white folks. ” “Herman Cain will never occupy the Oval Office,…”
That hasn’t been said about any of the white candidates however ridiculous their bid may have been. But they want to make it perfectly clear to their rank and file that this black man will never be given the opportunity to win the republican nomination for that spot if they have anything to say in it.
And, Hello, Mr Cain, running for the presidential nomination for the tea party, they are making those assurances about you. You know the “popular figure on the campaign trail, ” truer said the token minority candidate.
GET A CLUE.

A Fall “Recipe” for Healthy Blood Sugar
I can’t believe we’ve reached the official start of fall. The kids have started school, days are shorter, and the other night I actually needed a light jacket. It also means Halloween, which signals the “unofficial” start of the holiday season, will soon arrive—along with tons of sugary treats.
As I’ve often said, sugar isn’t as sweet as it seems. The average American intake of added (non-naturally occurring) sugar adds up to 20.5 teaspoons per day, or 68.5 pounds per person, per year. While many doctors still say sugar is okay, I’m more concerned than ever about sugar consumption and its impact on blood sugar.
Here are some quick, easy things you can do right now to get a handle on your blood sugar and health—without depriving yourself of good food.
First off, avoid artificial sweeteners
Sugar may not be as sweet as it seems, but neither are many of the artificial sweeteners sitting in the “sugar bowl” at restaurants. Their sweet taste triggers the release of insulin, even though there’s no sugar present. When your body has more insulin than it needs, your cells can become resistant—a precursor to diabetes.
If you have a sweet tooth, opt for one of the healthier sugar alternatives. I recommend stevia because it doesn’t raise your blood sugar as quickly as regular table sugar. Plus, unlike artificial sweeteners, stevia has no aftertaste or side effects. You can find it in both powder and liquid extract form in most health food stores.
Xylitol is another good sweetener choice. It tastes as sweet as sugar and breaks down slowly like stevia does, helping to keep your blood sugar steady. Plus, it has 40% fewer calories than sugar (sugar has 4 calories per gram, xylitol has 2.4). You can substitute xylitol for sugar in most recipes, or sprinkle it on cereal or in yogurt. Although it’s initially more expensive than sugar, it’s an absolute bargain in terms of your health.
Another healthy flavor booster is cloves
Cloves, which are dried buds that come from a small evergreen tree that grows in the tropics, have a slightly sweet aromatic flavor. Yet, for most of us the only time we eat cloves is in pumpkin pie.
But for blood sugar support, you want to make it more than a pie spice. In fact, you want to eat a few cloves a day or ½ to one teaspoon of ground spice. The flavor can be fairly intense, though, so using cloves in cooking is more palatable.
One delicious way to enjoy cloves is in spiced brewed tea. Place eight to 10 teabags in a pot of water; add a cinnamon stick or two, and a sprinkle of whole cloves. Simmer for five to ten minutes, depending on how rich you want your tea. You can flavor the hot tea with xylitol to taste, and store the rest in the refrigerator to reheat later or serve cold over ice.
Go ahead and sprinkle on the cinnamon
Another spice I’ve long recommended for blood sugar support is cinnamon. I sprinkle it liberally into my morning shake and often mix it into yogurt or oatmeal. For blood sugar support, you want to eat one gram (1/2 teaspoon) daily.
This time of year there are many delicious, easy ways to enjoy cinnamon. Slice a crisp apple and sprinkle with cinnamon. Or core an apple; sprinkle it with chopped nuts and cinnamon, and heat to make a healthy “apple pie.”
Enjoy these delicious tastes of fall. Both your taste buds and blood sugar will thank you.
Until next time,
Dr. David Williams

Hafa adai and thank you Peter for standing up for Guam against that creep McCain. I, too, am happy Obama was elected. At least he stands by his promise to do what is right by Guam.
————————–
“President Obama showed that he is sensitive to the needs of Guam and all Pacific islanders,” Bordallo said. “I made the point that our visitor industry will grow with the inclusion of Chinese and Russian visitors. I also told him that Guam’s goals are similar to those expressed by Vice President (Joe Biden) last month in China to make it easier for Chinese tourists to visit the United States.”
Bordallo said she also told Obama the island was disappointed that he had to cancel his scheduled visits to Guam last year. She told Obama that the “invitation still stands and our welcome mat is always out.”

Thank you, thank you, thank you Michelle. It gave us great joy to hear that the King has decreed women of Saudi Arabia have the right to vote in local elections in 2015.
We still don’t have the rights of men or even the basic right to drive or travel abroad without the permission of a male guardian, but you have given us belief that we can over come our fear and act as a unit to get something done.
Many are angry that we have to wait four more years to vote when elections are beginning this week. But I still have a feeling of deep accomplishment.
I have spent 40 years fearing and being harassed by our “religious police.” They are like the “moral men” in your country. Hypocrites using religion to practice their sick sexual urges.

When Herman Cain crushed the competition at the much ballyhooed Presidency 5 Straw Poll this weekend in Florida, getting more votes than Mitt Romney and Rick Perry combined, it revived Cain’s campaign.
Here are the reasons why Cain should not be underestimated: He fits this anti-politician and anti-Obama election cycle, he knows how to speak to conservatives, and he has unparalleled success in the private sector.
Others looked at the Straw Poll results as indicative of the field being wide open.
GOP donors are clamoring for Chris Christie, but one has to wonder how he would survive in a Republican primary. His bluster that borders on irascibility will not cover up his liberal views on climate change, gun control, Islamic terrorism and ObamaCare.
So again, the wild card seems to be former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
A national Marist/McClatchy poll shows Palin now beating President Obama among independents and trailing him by only 5 points.
Further, Palin has closed the gap in the past month by talking about crony capitalism and the lack of accountability in our institutions that seems to be resonating with conservatives and independents.
In that same poll, Palin does better against Obama and among independent voters than Rick Perry, which leads one to believe that she can be the candidate who can potentially square the William F. Buckley Rule and the Rush Limbaugh Rule for the Republican primary. — Tony Lee

Honestly Michelle why you allow the republican liars to use your blog to promote their lies is something I get understand. Post #11 is a typical example of what I am talking about.
Here they publish a notice as it they are excited about the black candidate, Herman Cain, when actually that was just a cover to promote Sarah Palin.
It really speaks volumes about the ignorance of this crowd. To even imagine that pea brained never-saw-a-dollar-she-wouldn’t-sell-out-for hypocrite as POTUS is ludicrous.
But then we are talking about a group who will do anything to get rid of the black guy.

Robert, why would Cain willingly act as a token? Is it better to be a ‘popular figure on the campaign trail’ than not to be acknowledged at all…it’s got to be an ego issue, why would a black man offer up his neck to the GOP, whats to be gained from it? He seems bright enough to not be completely deluded by visions of grandeur…
