Scandal weighs heavy on McQueary

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – John McQueary knows first hand just how much these allegations involving the sex abuse scandal at Penn State are wearing on his son.

Penn State Nittany Lions wide receiver coach Mike McQueary is the once unnamed graduate assistant who identified former coach Jerry Sandusky with a young male at the school’s in 2002.

John said his son has been with the team at practice and will be at his usual spot on the sideline Saturday when the Lions host 17th-ranked Nebraska. The redheaded McQueary — who often can be spotted receiving orders from Paterno, who scours the sideline for the coach and often gives him an earful — first spoke with his father after witnessing Sandusky with that young male in 2002.

“I love football, too and obviously my son’s a football coach, but I could care less about who takes over for Joe or whatever may go on with that,” John McQueary said. “It’s not about that. This is about a little boy, and that’s something that makes this so tough on all of us.”

At a news conference Monday in Harrisburg, Pa., Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly said the identity of that boy remains unknown.

The elder McQueary was visibly shaken as he spoke about the incident and shook his head side to side. He said he just wants to make sure the case is conducted properly and justice is served.

Letters, business cards and envelopes from news agencies are stuck to the door of what used to be Mike McQueary’s home about 1½ miles from campus. McQueary’s old neighbors said he was a distant neighbor and that he moved about two months ago.

“The only thing that’s business as usual with any of this is when there’s that short time frame where he’s at practice,” John said. “For those two hours on the practice field, that’s the only time he’s away from all of this.”

Finding that solitude has been hard for all of the McQuearys, and John said all he can do at this point is wait for the case to runs its course.

“The investigation has been going on for three years, and I’ve known for 10 years,” John said. “This is about a child. … That’s what makes this tough on everyone.”

    Crana/2:

What you have uttered is insane or an attempt of mass suicide. The Emperor issued and order that any aliens who were here before this dirt drop in space became His were to immediately surrender all weapons to His agents.

If you have weapons and turn them on His sensors will recognize their location and you will be guilty of disobeying a direct edit of the Emperor. That is punishable by death.

Any who are here are here at His leisure. Hence we are obligated to take His charge when notified of a violation of His rule. That would make you the enemy of all who are here. Any support given to you either physically or verbally would be also punishable by death.

The TAO are fully aware of this. They need not do a thing. It will be done for them the instant your weapons are armed. We suggest the better course of action is to show up and be given the sections of those quadrants that you presently occupy and accept the loss of the rest.

We are you Galactic neighbors and your friends.

    How to Develop Charisma

Charisma isn’t something people are born with. It’s a set of skills that most of us can master. Here’s how…

    DISPLAY CONFIDENCE

A charismatic person can walk into a group of strangers and quickly make friends. An uncharismatic person hangs uncomfortably on the edge of the crowd, unable to make a connection.

If you’re not naturally outgoing, mingling might be uncomfortable for you, but you can do it successfully if you follow these rules…
Walk purposefully. At a party or business function, don’t wander around aimlessly.

    Set goals before the get-together.
Example: Resolve to meet three new people at a party or give out 10 business cards at a meeting.

Offer intriguing introductions. Don’t just give your name during introductions. Say something about yourself that will draw a question and lead to a conversation.
Example: Don’t say, “Hi, I’m Bob Jones,” say, “I’m Bob Jones. I am an attorney specializing in copyright and patent law.”

Ensure that at least one person isn’t a total stranger. If you’re anxious about entering a room full of strangers, find out who will be going and call one person ahead of time to introduce yourself.

Example: If you’re attending an organization’s annual meeting, call the president. Ask a question or two about the event, and then ask if he/she would be willing to introduce you around when you arrive. You’ll meet plenty of people, and they’ll think of you as a friend of the most important person in the group.

    FOCUS ON WHAT YOU WANT

Charismatic people are passionate about the things they believe in. Those perceived as lacking charisma typically have no passion… or consider it pushy or egotistical to state their opinion or talk about successes. Be aware that for every person who finds persistence and passion overbearing, many more will find it persuasive.

Example: You send an e-mail to 20 contacts concerning a project you believe in. Two of the 20 ask to be taken off your list for future messages. How do you respond? A charismatic person wouldn’t be shaken by the two who asked to be taken off the list. Instead, he/she would be encouraged by the 18 that didn’t.

    BE A GOOD LISTENER

When people think that you value their opinions, they’re predisposed to value yours. Conversely, if you appear disinterested, you can expect others to be unreceptive when you speak. Strategies…

Make eye contact. Don’t let your attention drift even if you’re at a crowded party and your inclination is to say hello to friends who pass by.
Ask follow-up questions that show you’re paying attention but don’t excessively challenge the speaker.

Put yourself in the shoes of the person speaking. If someone is telling a story, imagine that it happened to you. When you do, your facial responses will show sincere interest.

Make short comments that validate the speaker’s emotions. If the story is about fighting against a bureaucracy, say, “You must have felt so powerless.”

    APOLOGIZE

When a charismatic person makes a mistake, he doesn’t get defensive or point fingers. That alienates others and makes him appear small and petty. Strong and self-assured people accept blame and apologize, which makes others view them with respect.

  3. Anages Says:

We agree with the Lifsans. Provoking those TAO dogs in their sanctuary is not unlike provoking the Emperor the end will most certainly be the same, DEATH.

Exercise the patience most of us have with the TAO. While they are selecting humans on this planet to command the kingdoms they have amassed so as to free up their limited manpower here in this galaxy, we are marshaling our forces to prevent those humans from leaving this galaxy alive.

Thus the standoff wilt be if the TAO refuses to accept their limited role here as we dictate it to be, they will be killed on sight once they leave the protected bounds of the Emperor’s No Weapon Discharge Zones.

Join us and reap revenge in the true arena of justice. We are from a proud galaxy that has never accepted an outsider as our master. Let that history motivate you use the intelligence which made that possible to defeat this band of wannabes.

They are few to our trillions. With patience wAbhat is an impossible win for them is merely out destiny.
