Wonderful Women Of The World
Posted by Michelle Moquin on April 11th, 2012
Good morning!
So how is everyone doing? It’s Wednesday and I thought not only will I recognize a Wonderful Woman Of The World (WWOTW), but a little humor to start off my morning (for some of you it will be early afternoon, but hey, any time of the day is a good time to laugh), was in order.
I am a big fan of Hillary Clinton. More so now as the years have gone by and I have witnessed her growing badass attitude – and I mean that all in a good way. Don’t you just love how she has come into her power? I am cheering her for all of her accomplishments and all that she does for women around the world.
Today while perusing the net, I came upon this write on the Huff Po that just made my morning a bit brighter, not to mention “LOLZ”:
Hillary Clinton Thanks ‘Texts From Hillary’ Guys For The ‘LOLZ’
WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton took a few minutes away from her texting (and all her other duties as secretary of state) and met with the two guys who have turned her into the latest Internet meme.
In less than a week, the blog “Texts from Hillary” has become an online sensation, boosting Clinton’s public image in the process. As Benjy Sarlin of TPM wrote, “When she was running for the Democratic presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton was parodied as drab and calculated, especially compared with young and vigorous Barack Obama and winking and fresh-faced Sarah Palin. Now, she’s fueling Internet jokes based on her own brand of badass cool.”
Stacy Lambe and Adam Smith, the two guys behind the site, said they received an email from a member of Clinton’s staff on Monday afternoon, out of the blue.
“We didn’t even believe it at first,” said Smith. “Stacy and I IMed each other at the same time, basically saying, ‘Oh my god, this email!’”
The staffer invited them over to the State Department, saying the secretary loved the site and wanted to meet them. Her staff also submitted Clinton’s own idea for a post to the site, which went up on Tuesday. In it, Clinton calls out Smith and Lambe for their creation (and makes a scrunchie joke).
Smith said that the submission was from Clinton herself — although she may have had some help on it — and that they talked about it with her at the meeting. She told them that her favorite post was the one with Ryan Gosling.
“Her staff is a delight,” said Lambe. “Everybody was really nice and really excited about what’s happened over the past few days. Of course, Hillary Clinton thought it was hilarious and had a good laugh and was very nice and welcome — and very generous to take a few minutes of her time to take some photos with us.”
In fact, Clinton suggested that the three of them pose in the photos with their blackberries, checking their text messages. She even whipped out her famous sunglasses.
“I would just say that her meeting with us proves the point that we were trying to make with the site,” said Smith.
Clinton also gave each of them signed copies of her “Texts from Hillary” submission.
Smith’s signed copy, on which Clinton signed her name “Hillz”:

Readers: If I haven’t said it here before, I will say it again, “Hillary Clinton is definitely a WWOTW. And no doubt, “Hillz” in my mind, has all the attributes of being considered a “Girlz“.
Zen Lill: Sorry, I don’t have it the original e-mail anymore. But I give you permission to drag the photo off of my blog if you want to repost it.
Rufus: My thoughts exactly. Well…not exactly but the scenario and end result is the same. Hit ‘em where it hurts. And it hurts when the laws they fought to put in action, fights back at their own.
Kenny: I liked your rant.
Oscar: Like I said, “Hit ‘em where it hurts”.
Erica, Nancy: I have something to say with respect to your comments. I am not saying that Oscar or any other OTW should go out and look for trouble, or target whites racially, just so they can kill at will. And I am not speaking for Oscar, but I don’t think Oscar is thinking that way either.
But I also think that if human beings really did resolve their issues with non violence first and foremost before resorting to violence, we wouldn’t be living in such a violent world, and a insane law such as “Stand Your Ground”, basically a “license to kill”, wouldn’t have been legislated in the first place.
It’s a nice thought, and I agree with you, if we all thought the same, but unfortunately many people don’t. So tell that to all of the racists out there who can’t see past the color of an OTW’s skin. Trayvon was asking why he was being followed, begging for his life, and Zimmerman hunted him down like animal after his prey, and shot him dead.
There was no issue to resolve – at least not one that could be resolved. The issue was, the boy was black. Period. Not something that could be resolved. Trayvon can’t change the color of his skin. The fact is: ”You are black, I don’t like you; I want you dead”.
So yes, I repeat, it is a nice thought but tell that to all of the families of the black boys and men who get killed, and no jUStice is done.
Violence isn’t the best answer and not one that I promote to resolve an issue. But when it comes to a matter of saving your life, and the other person doesn’t see you as an equal human being, and threatens you, sometimes violence is the only answer. And you had better be prepared and protect yourself just in case you are in such a situation, where there is no “resolving of issues in a nice way”…or you might end up dead.
In my opinion, unless OTW’s “stand their ground” and do something, this insanity will continue and people like Zimmeman are going to walk away scott free, while black boys lay dead in the streets, soon to be forgotten like the many.
I wrote this a few weeks ago and I still stand by my words:
I wish that Trayvon Martin’s murder was the last of these heinous crimes against young black boys and really any OTW, but it would only be HOPEful thinking, because I so strongly want things to change…for Trayvon’s murder to be a reminder of all the murders of black boys such as Trayvon that have come before him, and the impetus to stop the murders of black boys in the future.
Hmm..It makes me think. If I were an OTW who lived in “stand your ground” states, I would go get myself a gun. And if anyone got in my face, and threatened me in my space calling me a nigger, wetback, (what are those other names you use George, WN?) while invading my legal non-retreating space, I would “stand my ground”, pull out my gun and shoot. And if I killed the offender, he would not be there to answer otherwise. But I would only do it if I felt threatened. I would not break the law and do it just because I didn’t like white folks. Of course, we all know, if enough white people got killed, the law would change in the proverbial hot minute. Then and only then.
“See Jane notice all of the Senators running down to the legislative house to change that law.”
Well, I wanted to keep it light and humorous but I just had to say something. I’m done – your turn. Oops I see many of you blogged this morning already. I guess I better post asap. :) Blog me.
Robert, RT: Miss seeing you here – wha’at’s up?

It’s always nice to be missed and especially so by such a lovely and talented star.
I am too busy reading all the back and forth to comment. Besides I like the tenor.

Don’t Eat Chicken with Rice
And other foods that are not healthy when eaten together
When I was 15, my skin began to break out, and a well-meaning but misguided dermatologist prescribed antibiotics.
Fifteen years later, frequent use of antibiotics had weakened my body to the point where I had almost no functional immune system—and my stomach burned whenever I ate anything.
By the time I was 30, I could tolerate only five foods.
For the next decade, I explored every kind of diet available, as well as many other natural-healing methods. Then I discovered that I had the systemic infection candidiasis, which had compromised my digestive, immune and endocrine systems.
One tool I used to heal myself was food combining, a revolutionary approach to eating that I learned about in my research. I then worked with Leonard Smith, MD, medical adviser for the University of Miami’s department of integrative medicine, to understand the science behind it.
Food combining focuses on the way you combine foods at each meal—the animal and vegetable proteins…the fats and oils…the starches…and the fruits and vegetables.
Some food combinations are easy to digest. They are quickly broken down, and the nutrients are thoroughly assimilated.
Other combinations can be a digestive disaster, producing gas, bloating and other gastrointestinal (GI) discomforts.
MANY BENEFITS
Proper food combining may mean that you no longer need to take medications for digestive problems. Food combining also has benefits for your overall health. Here are the benefits you can expect…
Less bloating, stomach pain and gas, because well-digested foods don’t ferment in the intestines, producing those symptoms.
Less heartburn, because digestion is more efficient.
Better absorption of nutrients and, therefore, a better-nourished body and more effective immune system.
Younger looks, because poorly digested foods generate toxins that contribute to a dull complexion and a bloated body.
Weight control, because properly combined foods are assimilated and metabolized better, reducing the likelihood that they will be stored as fat.
SIX SIMPLE RULES
The simple rules for food combining might not seem so simple at first. Don’t expect to master them in a day.
My suggestion: Place the food-combining chart below on your refrigerator door. Or you can print out a copy at http://bodyecology.com/foodCombiningchart.
Then try food combining for a little while—even just three or four days. If you have digestive ills, you likely will find the benefits are immediate—gas, bloating and stomachaches will vanish.
Rule #1: Eat animal protein with nonstarchy vegetables.
When you eat animal-protein foods (eggs, fish, poultry, red meat) with a starchy vegetable or grain (examples include artichokes, carrots, corn, oats, peas, potatoes, rice, wheat, winter squash and yams), your salivary glands secrete ptyalin and amylase that break down the grains and starchy vegetables into simple sugars.
Coating your protein foods with sugars creates compounds called advanced glycation end products (AGEs).
AGEs are linked to inflammation and immune reactions that can lead to diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. When eaten together, animal-protein and starchy foods also are much more difficult to digest.
Instead, eat animal protein with nonstarchy vegetables such as asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, cucumber, garlic, green beans, leafy greens (such as kale and collards), onions, sea vegetables (such as wakame and dulse) and zucchini.
Good combination: Fish with stir-fried nonstarchy vegetables.
Combinations to avoid: Chicken and rice. Pasta with meat sauce.
Rule #2: Eat grains and grainlike seeds (amaranth, buckwheat, millet and quinoa) with starchy and/or nonstarchy vegetables.
This combination is the easiest of all meals to digest. I prefer grainlike seeds over grains because they are gluten-free and higher in protein.
Good combinations: Brown rice stir-fried with onions, garlic, broccoli, yellow squash and red pepper. A potato, onion and quinoa sauté, with a leafy green salad.
Combinations to avoid: Beef hamburger on a wheat bun. Pizza with pepperoni.
Rule #3: Consume fruit and fruit juices alone and at least 30
minutes before any meal…or combined with a protein-fat (avocados, dairy products, nuts and seeds). Or eat acidic fruit combined with leafy green salads.
Fruit and fruit juices pass through the digestive tract very quickly.
When they are consumed with slower-digesting animal-protein foods, starchy vegetables or grains, they become trapped in the digestive tract with those foods and cause fermentation. You quickly experience bloating and gas.
Protein-fats combine well with acidic fruits. In food combining, acidic fruits include citrus fruits and juice, berries, cherries and pineapples.
Good combinations: Blueberries in yogurt with walnuts. Grapefruit with avocado on lettuce. Tomato in a leafy green salad.
Combinations to avoid: Traditional breakfast of eggs, orange juice and toast. Strawberries on top of cereal.
Rule #4: Combine fats and oils with any food. Nature created fats in such a way that they go with just about everything we eat.
Good combinations: Salmon in a leafy green salad with an extra-virgin olive oil dressing. Baked potato or acorn squash with butter. Quinoa tabouli salad with an extra-virgin olive oil dressing.
Rule #5: Combine protein-fats with protein-fats. Protein-fats are easily digested when eaten together.
Good combinations: Leafy greens with grated cheese, chopped walnuts and a dressing made with yogurt. A smoothie made in a blender with cucumber, celery, zucchini, yogurt, almonds and avocado.
Combinations to avoid: Grilled cheese sandwich. Yogurt with cereal.
Rule #6: Combine beans with nonstarchy vegetables. Beans are a protein-starch (a food that is predominantly starchy but also has naturally occurring protein), and because protein and starches don’t combine well together, beans are difficult to digest, producing a lot of gas. Combining them with easily digested foods such as nonstarchy vegetables works best.
Good combinations: Black beans with onions, garlic, celery and kale. Garbanzo beans in a leafy green salad.
Combination to avoid: Beans and rice.

Good news today:
The neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman, who shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was arrested and charged with second-degree murder Wednesday after months of mounting tensions and protests across the country.
It sure took long enough. But something inside me tells me this was done for the benefit of the reputation of the police department, not for justice or Trayvon’s family. Next up, acquittal?

I love the LOLZ and da HILLZ as well ; ) listen, I’m sure Hillz was always in the social media loop, though – in 2 days she and her staffers have given her the hot tix to the forefront and she won’t be f-ing it up either, nice…
MM, that’s so funny that you watch Fox and read Redstate and liberal media as well…hmm, I get all that in my email daily, I just read the headlines for spin doctoring and I must admit that the GOP possess some serious skills in that department, I’m just wondering who supplying the drugs bc they are tripping…and you see, liberals may go all natural and trip on ayahuasca but they don’t delude themselves by promoting visions in a trip as political or human reality (or should I say tragedy), please stop watching fox, it’s a group of misogynists touting themselves as ‘financially responsible’ – about fiscal responsibility I say: really…? Then how do you suggest the current economic chaos occurred?
Another commenter suggested the obvious, how are women (or men who are somewhat responsible) supposed to manage all the unwanted babies with cuts in contraception, it would seem obvious even to a moron that family planning would benefit everyone, including (hello) the poor baby entering a world where they’re not wanted…if the right cares so much ‘about the baby’ then why would they even consider presenting this as an option, I said it before and I’ll say it now, there’s got to be something bigger in play (perhaps Anonz, you would care to enlighten us?) bc it seems ludicrous…
Howie and Al, ever hear the song ‘I ain’t too proud to beg’? : ) yep, that’s how much I miss you two, don’t make me email you ; )

Zen Lill,
I watch Fox because it is the most watched news network in America. And because it tells it like it is. Women and “OTWS’ get the news the way it is.
Just because it doesn’t suit their interest doesn’t mean it isn’t true. White men have supported them from the beginning of this country. I can’t believe that a true white woman would find fault with the way white men have led this country.
It is only the last 4 years that the fear that we could lose all that white men have worked so hard and died for has brought such fear that it has galvanized white men to stand up for their country.
Fox is one of the bastions that refuses to back down from calling the welfare cheats, the radical feminists, gays, and those that would turn this country into a huge welfare state.
You have been a voice for reason when it comes to this blog bashing white men. I know that when you go in to cast your vote White men can count on you for your support.
April 12th, 2012 at 8:10 am
Zen Lill, we are Dutch but we read Michelle’s blog every day. So we feel that we are up on what’s happening in your country.
We suspect that the only reason your white male politicians are trying to shut down birth control in your country is because the statistics say that white births are falling way behind your OTW births.
The Right in your country could care less if the OTWS were having abortions. But statistics say that white women avail themselves to Planned Parenthood birth control services twice as often as OTW women.
The goal by white men is to force WHITE women to bear more children to keep their place of superiority at the polls.

Today I watched a man on one of the fox channels who said that men have to be told to clean that or pick that up because the didn’t see their fathers do it.
I am tired of men apologizing for the behavior of their sex. Just because they didn’t see their father pick up a broom doesn’t mean they think the dust will sweep itself. When they are living alone they manage to clean up behind themselves.
It is ludicrous for men to suggest that unless they are told to help around the house with the necessary housecleaning chores they will assume that the woman will do it.

MISDIAGNOSED DEPRESSION AND ALZHEIMER’S
It may seem like an extreme form of wishful thinking to suggest that symptoms believed to signal the onset of Alzheimer’s disease could instead be due to a lack of one particular vitamin — and yet studies over the years have been telling us just that.
Some people 50 and older who are suffering from memory problems, confusion, irritability, depression and/or paranoia could see those symptoms dramatically diminish simply by taking vitamin B-12.
Frighteningly, recent research shows that up to 30% of adults may be B-12 deficient — making them vulnerable to misdiagnosis of Alzheimer’s.
I spoke to Irwin Rosenberg, MD, senior scientist and director of the Nutrition and Neurocognition Laboratory at Tufts University in Boston, about who is at risk and how to protect yourself.
He told me that for years, doctors had believed that B-12 deficiency showed itself most significantly as the cause of anemia (pernicious anemia), but they now realize the lack of B-12 may even more dramatically be causing neurological symptoms, some of which are similar to Alzheimer’s.
OTHERS AT RISK…
Age is not the only risk factor for having a B-12 deficiency — other at-risk groups include vegetarians (dietary B-12 comes predominantly from meat and dairy products) and people who have celiac disease, Crohn’s disease or other nutrient malabsorption problems.
Evidence accumulating over the past few decades shows that regular use of certain medications also can contribute to vitamin B-12 deficiency.
These include antacids, in particular proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) such as esomeprazole (Nexium), lansoprazole (Prevacid) and many others which reduce stomach acid levels, making it difficult for B-12 to be fully absorbed.
The diabetes drug metformin (Glucophage) also can reduce B-12 levels.
MEASURING DEFICIENCY
A common symptom of vitamin B-12 deficiency is neuropathy, a tingly and prickly sensation, sometimes felt in the hands and feet and occasionally in the arms and legs as well.
Dr. Rosenberg told me that people with B-12 deficiency also tend to have problems maintaining proper gait and balance.
Dr. Rosenberg recommends testing B-12 levels for a few groups of people, including those on PPIs for more than a few months… people having memory problems and/or often feeling confused — and this can include people of any age… those with neuropathy in the feet and/or legs… and those who have unexplained anemia.
As mentioned above, deficiencies of B-12 in older adults are nearly always a direct result of too little stomach acid, which is essential for absorption of B-12. This explains why powerful antacids trigger B-12 deficiency.
Another problem is that sometimes, especially in older people, the stomach isn’t making enough of a protein called intrinsic factor (IF) that is needed to break down B-12 effectively.
There is no way to increase IF, says Dr. Rosenberg, and so the solution is to administer B-12 in large enough quantities to override the difficulty with absorption.
Traditionally this has been done with injections of B-12, but more recently doctors have found that oral supplementation with high amounts of B-12 that dissolves under the tongue also is successful and certainly easier than regular injections.
Dr. Rosenberg adds that there is no reason to be concerned about “balancing” B vitamins as was once thought — B-12 is water soluble and the body can excrete what it doesn’t need.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Adults can easily get the recommended daily amount of 2.4 micrograms (mcg) of B-12 from dietary sources, which includes all animal products.
For example, just three ounces of steamed clams supplies 34.2 mcg and three ounces of salmon provides the necessary 2.4 mcg.
However, this amount will not address the problems associated with aging and medications.
Once again, the issue goes back to absorption — if you don’t have enough stomach acid and/or IF to use the B-12 you ingest, it is almost irrelevant how much animal protein you eat.
This is why the Institute of Medicine says that for people over age 50 and for vegetarians, the best way to ensure meeting your body’s B-12 needs is to take a supplement or seek out foods fortified with it.
Reason: The body can more easily absorb the form of B-12 used for supplementation and fortification even in people who have low levels of stomach acid.
Caution: B-12 tests are sometimes insufficiently sensitive, especially for vegans. If your test indicates levels are fine in spite of symptoms, Dr. Rosenberg recommends having your doctor order a different test that will evaluate whether your B-12 system is intact.
There is no need to suffer from any kind of B-12 deficiency symptoms, let alone risk misdiagnosis of Alzheimer’s, when the solution is so close at hand!

A Tennessee bill meant to protect teachers who allow students to question and criticize “controversial” subjects such as evolution and climate change became law on Tuesday after Gov. Bill Haslam (R) declined to act.
The state legislature had sent the bill to Haslam earlier this month. He had until Tuesday to veto it, sign it or allow it to pass without his signature.
===============
I can’t get behind this kind of ignorance. Who are the people electing these people?
Critics of the legislation have dubbed it the “Monkey Bill” and charge that it is anti-science, backdoor approval of the teaching of religion in schools that reminds of the state’s history with the Scopes Trial.
“It would open the door to creationism, it would open the door to climate change denial, and to other sorts of pseudosciences being introduced into Tennessee classrooms,” Josh Rosenau of the National Center for Science Education told The Huffington Post last month.
