Good morning!

No write today. I just want to check in, say hello, and respond to a few of you.

Social Butterfly: Done. Thank you.

Danielle: I don’t know the answer and I think about that all of the time. We are the ones responsible for poisoning our own food supply. How asinine is that? We deserve what we get when we are so careless and cruel to those that give their life to sustain ours.

Frank: Sick. All in the name of bigger profits. Now look who’s getting sick.

Jeff: I don’t “select” who gets in and who doesn’t. I don’t control it, nor do I have time if I did.  It is random and luck.

Zaranj: The plight of women in this world occupy a big part of my thoughts. Where ever I can assist I will do so.

Craig: The Health Info post inspired those same thoughts. However, not with respect to me; I’m pretty happy with my weight, but we’ll see what happens to the other ex-half.

Oscar: Ah yes…the “bed privileges” – you are correct. No FWB here.

Evelyn: In case it isn’t clear,  I LOVE men of all colors, and most sizes. :)  It is the horrific things that men of any color do, that turn me off. It is the entire package that turns me on. And I don’t just mean the physical attributes.

Paul: You had me laughing out loud.

Mark: You’re welcome. And thank you. It is the readers as well that bring “class’” to this blog.

With respect to the man’s balls being squeezed to death, all of the one liners were a hoot to read. But I must give a shout out to Alycedale for the best one liner. With all of the talk on my blog for years about the little head overruling the big head, Alycedale, your comment was right on, your wit, priceless. I truly got a kick out of your comment.

And George, WN: It figures you wouldn’t get it. No one is condoning the woman for killing a man over a parking space, because the woman did not kill a man over a parking space. The man got into a physical confrontation with the woman. In other words, let me make it simple:  He “attacked” her. If it had been just words he was throwing at her, she wouldn’t have had to call her brother and father for help.

This is the kind of thing that happens all of the time with respect to women. People overlook and blame the woman for something they felt wasn’t necessary for her to do. Whose to say what one would do in her situation. He attacked herShe was the victim here; not him. What if her brother and father weren’t around to help her? Perhaps he would’ve gotten so mad and killed her, over a parking space, instead. The bottom line is, if he hadn’t attacked her, she wouldn’t have reacted to protect herself, and he’d still be alive. It’s really that simple.

Ruth: Always good to hear from you. Love you…

Zen Lill: Thanks for the welcome back wishes!

Have a beautiful Sunday everyone!

Peace & Love…

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. Oh did you look so good at the bloom party. I hope “Beverly” calms down. She should have known that you belong to all of us. -(:

Damn man why don’t you run for political office. You should be being groomed for the black president of this country.

I recognize the up hill battle you will have among the white males in this country. I see it every day after you leave in our company.

The men make snide remarks about this or that implying you are not what you appear to be. Most of the women smile and wink at each other. We know penis envy when we see it.

I must admit a bit of jealousy also, though when it comes to your fixation on Michelle. That maybe a little strong but I have never seen you put yourself out the way you have done here.

Ergo, I am addressing you here. I want the office to know that I am not taking one stand with you in private and another with them(hello, girls) -(:

You have been the object of much discussion precisely because you are single, black, and the heir apparent to the overseas divestment portfolio mess.

Perhaps you should know that the scuttlebutt is it will be your waterloo.

    Jolene

  2. 60 for 60 Says:

An LA-based friend called last week to invite me to lunch when he is out on the East coast visiting his daughter at college in upstate New York, and then spending time with family in New Jersey.

At first, I felt guilty that he offered to drive to Connecticut just to have lunch with me-‑I can’t say I would have done the same for him during my limited vacation time-‑until he explained that he was on a master mission: 60 for 60.

In honor of his upcoming 60th birthday, Patrick is scheduling one-on-one dining experiences with 60 friends. He didn’t want to have a big party (he’s not loving the number “60”), but he did want to commemorate the occasion in a meaningful way.

And connecting with friends all over the country, many of whom (like me) he hasn’t seen in many years, will certainly be both meaningful, and memorable. Even better for him is that by having individual visits, he gets to spend more time with each person than he would at a big party where everyone is competing for a piece of his attention.

I love this idea…and couldn’t wait to share it here. And… it doesn’t have to be a special occasion to reach out to someone you haven’t seen in a long time. It’s not just a time to reminisce, but also an opportunity to, perhaps, tap into a part of yourself that’s been locked away for a while and needs the opening to reemerge.

  3. Fabia Says:

We really like the girls of your blog Michelle. I especially love the give and take between Alycedale, Zen lill, Social Butterfly, PrP and several others.

They may disagree on occasion but they stick together when it is right. I have never left Europe except for a short vacation in St. Petersburg. But reading your commentary makes me feel that I know America.

    Fabia

  4. Health Info Says:

Crustless Apple Pie and Other Fast, Delicious Foods
Many of us have fond memories of Mom or Grandma spending hours in the kitchen slicing veggies, trimming cuts of meat, carefully adding spices and patiently simmering…roasting…baking…steaming…and so on.

But today, who has time for that? We’re pulled in so many directions that it seems like a victory if we sit still long enough to wolf down some takeout. In fact, a recent report from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development found that among its 34 country members, Americans spend the least amount of time cooking and the third-least amount of time eating.

So why is our obesity rate the highest of the bunch? Perhaps in part because too few of us have found the secret to making healthful meals fast enough to suit our busy schedules.

Well, here’s someone who has found that secret—Elaine Magee, MPH, RD, author of 25 books on nutrition and cooking, including Comfort Classics: Hearty Favorites Made Healthy.

Magee has generously shared four recipes—each naturally low in calories and saturated fat yet high in flavor—that will let you put tasty, nutritious meals (dessert, too!) on the table in less than 15 minutes.

    For breakfast:
Very-Veggie Quesadilla. Why settle for boring cold cereal when you can kick off your day with a warm and quick quesadilla?
    To prepare:
In a large skillet coated with nonstick cooking spray, heat 1 cup egg substitute or egg whites over medium heat until semi-firm. Flip with a spatula. Sprinkle with 2 Tbsp. shredded reduced-fat cheese and 2 Tbsp. minced green onion, then top with a large whole-grain tortilla.

When the underside of the egg is cooked, flip everything onto a plate, tortilla-side down. Sprinkle with diced tomatoes, avocado and bell pepper to taste. Top with a second large tortilla, then cut into wedges. Makes two servings.

    For lunch:
Cashew-Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich. If you’re used to thinking of chicken salad as a gooey mix of mayo and chicken, you’ll be delighted with the zesty taste and crunchy texture of this version.
    To prepare:
Remove and chop the meat from a store-bought rotisserie chicken. Place 2 cups of the chicken in a medium-sized bowl (reserve any remainder for another use). Into the chicken, stir ⅓ cup finely chopped celery…one finely chopped green onion…and ¼ cup cashew pieces. Set aside.

In a small bowl, mix together 4 tsp. nonfat plain yogurt…¼ cup fat-free sour cream…1 tsp. curry powder…and ¼ tsp. low-sodium chicken-broth powder. Stir mayonnaise mixture into chicken mixture. Use six slices of multigrain bread plus lettuce and sliced tomato to taste to make three chicken salad sandwiches.

    For dinner:
Turkey-Avocado Burgers. The typical turkey patty, while nutritious, is notoriously bland—but not this spiced-up version! To prepare: In a medium-sized bowl, combine one pound extra-lean ground turkey…¼ cup fine bread crumbs…¼ cup egg whites…2 Tbsp. soy sauce…2 Tbsp. minced onion…1 tsp. minced garlic…and 1 tsp. minced ginger. Shape into four patties.

In a large skillet coated with nonstick cooking spray, cook burgers over medium heat for about four minutes per side or until done (do not overcook). Place each burger on a whole-grain bun and top generously with sliced avocado and salsa. Makes four servings.

    For dessert:
Easy Crustless Apple Pie. This guilt-free indulgence takes just a few moments to make.
    To prepare:
Core an apple and place in a microwavable dish. Into the center of the apple, spoon 1 tsp. brown sugar and ½ tsp. of whipped butter. Drizzle apple with lemon juice and sprinkle with cinnamon to taste.

Microwave on high three to four minutes or until tender. (If your microwave tray does not turn automatically, rotate the dish a quarter-turn halfway through the cooking time.) Makes one serving.

Source: Elaine Magee, MPH, RD, is the author of 25 books on nutrition and cooking, including Comfort Classics: Hearty Favorites Made Healthy (a Barnes & Noble Bargain Book).

She is based in Pleasant Hill, California, and wrote the nationally syndicated column “The Recipe Doctor” for 10 years.

  5. Dana Says:

Michelle your comment to Mark about this being the place your readers have made it is so true. I too missed Howie’s comments. They always either kept me up thinking about what they meant or marveling at what it must be like having the confidence of a super being like Carr(I still can’t believe he is a God).

I must say I was very disappointed that one so lucky would be so selfish as to deprive the world of all he must know just because he couldn’t take a little criticism. But each to his own. I don’t supposed he would ever see it that way.

I was more than pleasantly surprised that others like PrP stepped up and filled the spot Howie left. No one but you are indispensable on this blog.

You are the class of this blog, we just follow your lead.

    Dana

  6. Taimi Says:

Michelle, I am part of a group of Girlz of Finland. We never miss reading your blog. I am writing because we voted and i lost but it turns our I won.

The vote was whether you would still have sex with Doug. I said never again. Once you had decided it was over. It was over. You are THE Girlz, hence you do not compromise your decision with a man.

Now the Girlz have the respect for you that I have always had.

    Olet sankari.

    Taimi

  7. Pablo Says:

Michelle, I started for the UFO thrill. I stayed because of the topics that address everything that matters in the world.

You have something great here. Too bad Howie doesn’t get it. But thanks to PrP and others the alien connection will carry on.

    Pablo

  8. Alice Says:

Michelle, I also knew that you would be open to everything. I am a mother of four adult daughters who realized that she was a lesbian two years ago.

I don’t think you are, but it is wonderful to hear you are open to the possibilities.

    Alice

  9. Spense Says:

Michelle I came because my friends said that there was this guy who claimed to have a God for a friend. They said he was so right on the things he was telling that it was believable that he knew someone with superior knowledge.

They were right. It has been a thrill.

  10. Wilbur Says:

Michelle, I have been with you since the beginning. I discovered your blog about a couple of days after you started. I didn’t start keeping records until Howie came aboard. It was a hoot( I thought) when he got Carr to put Azza’s ship in a locket to hang around his neck.

But since I have come to believe everything. Howie was truly a great addition. I really respected that guy. Too bad he turned out to be a self-centered pussy. Guys like that never see the world as we see it. To them it is all about what happens to them.

I guess I should not be so bitter. After all Howie was the one who knew all things alien. He had a true gift. He did leave me with a store house of great stories since I have all the logs since he first came on.

    Wilbur

  11. Lance Says:

Great blog Michelle! I love the alien connection. It pulled me into it and I still find myself checking every day for more.

    Lance

  12. Linda Says:

Al, I haven’t heard anything. How are you doing?

    Linda

  13. Kent Says:

Wilbur, I would like to discuss getting access to your earlier Howie material. If you are interested I will leave a telephone number to reach me at.

It could be a huge financial reward in it for you.

    Kent.

  14. Zen Lill Says:

Yes, I wish Howie would get over it and just come back also, I’m still holding out hope, though, sometimes, how a person is is just how a person is, and if you want to change you can and if you don’t you don’t. Then again, I wish for a few other things here and off blog and sometimes I get those wishes fulfilled and sometimes I don’t….

I just love the tossing around of topic/off topic comments, and Mischa you know I think you’re the best.

    Luv, Zen Lill
