“Just Noticing”: Observations Of A Blogger

Good morning!

“Just noticing…”

…The racists are at it again.

Patrick Lanzo, Georgia Bar Owner, Calls Obama ‘N*****’ On Road Sign Again

Georgia bar owner Patrick Lanzo of Paulding County has made habit of claiming he’s not racist, an argument that becomes harder to make each time he decides to display the n-word on a large roadside sign outside his establishment, the Georgia Peach Oyster Bar.

Lanzo’s latest message reads, “I do not support the n***** in the White House.” He recently told a local reporter that the offensive wording was not meant to be racist.

“I say just because you’re offended by it doesn’t mean you don’t have the right to say something just the opposite,” Lanzo said, according to a report from Atlanta’s Fox 5. “I don’t feel bad about anything whatsoever. Therefore, they can go out and put their own sign in their own yard and I will not be offended.”

Controversy is nothing new to Lanzo, who seems to bask in the negative attention each time he posts a new inflammatory message.

In 2009, Lanzo drew outrage with a sign that read, “Obama’s plan for health-care: n***** rig it.” Again Lanzo maintained it was just a simple health care protest and not racist, a strange claim considering he advertises his establishment as a “Klan Bar” and has a rich history of catering to some of the nation’s most notorious racist groups.

Asked why he had chosen those words to express his feelings on the matter, Lanzo replied, “Well, I’ve used it most of my life. There are different ways to put your opinion up, but that’s just the words I choose.”

Fox 5 reports that Paulding County officials know about the sign, but can’t do much about it. Unsuccessful protests have also been mounted by the NAACP, a group that Lanzo once told CBS Atlanta he was a member of. From previous coverage of his actions, his sign has been a longstanding issue in the area, as have the strange displays of prominent black leaders alongside racist imagery inside his bar.

Lanzo isn’t the first “not-racist” to protest against Obama with language that many would consider patently racist. Paula Smith, distributor of a much-maligned “Don’t re-nig in 2012″ anti-Obama bumper sticker, argued that neither she nor her product were actually racist.

*L*S*O*S*R*A*C*I*S*T*

Readers: To be so blatantly racist and then say that you are not meaning to be racist, is just such a lie. And to make an excuse that is it okay to use such language because “I’ve used it all of my life”, is just so cold and insensitive. And he advertises his Bar as  ”Klan Bar”? This guy is a racist and a LSOS for even trying to deny it.

Robert, RT: Like the rest, I too like your meaning of GOP.

Delores: Well, better late than never but I too say, “Thank you Mr. President”.

Beverly: Nice comment. Not sure I agree with Maddow being the only one worth watching on MSNBC, but I am a huge fan of Maddow – she is my fave too.

As usual Romney jumped into the situation with the blind chinese guy expounding on how this President dropped the ball and was a failure again…he is so lame.

Just like he gave a speech in a closed manufacturing plant with a banner overhead saying: Pres. Oama caused this. Fact: the plant was closed during Pres.Bush’s admin in 2008. Pres. Obama was not president yet.

Now the situation with the chinese guy was taken care of and he and family are coming to USA and he will go to NYU thanks to the efforts of this administration….no one dropped the ball on anything…things take time to get worked out.

Romney did not wait …he just jumped into a situation which is not even a situation anymore. Once again he has eqq on his face and looks incompetent.Oh it was o.k. for him to go to downtown N.Y. with Guiliani on the eve of the capture and bring pizzas to firemen and used their stories at a meeting.

Hey Romney: aren’t the police and firemen those who YOU say we have too many of and need to fire?

  2. Frances Says:

I like this comment I read on HP about Patrick Lanzo.
    ————————–

He is getting exactly what he wants ATTENTION…
    Ignore the ignorant…Ummm…Not…

I am glad he is stating his feelings publicly at least he’s saying what he thinks…
and we know where he is…
I hope no one burns down his joint because that is probably what he wants too…so he can collect some insurance money…

Yes, He is getting exactly what he wants PUBLICITY and the news media is giving it to him…
well I guess they have to report it…but NATIONALLY ???

  3. DH Says:

Racism, pure and simple. What we should take from this is… this is how most conservatives rationalize their feelings about Obama.

They don’t say outright that they hate him because he is black… but they do. He has fulfilled so many of their desires in his attempt to ‘reach across the aisle’, or to pander to military interests in this country.

But it’s not good enough, will never be good enough as long as there is a person of color in the Lincoln bedroom.

The confederacy is attempting to rise from the cesspool that it was born in. Imagine the mentality of all the people who frequent that bar. We made it clear during the civil war that they are not Americans.

  4. Tracy Says:

This country is so full of racists. Whites that feel they should be entitled to special treatment because they are white.

Racism plays an important part in anything Obama does. Take the conservation about whether Obama is spiking the ball about his catching Obama.

Do you really believe this conversation would be occuring had it been Bush, Clinton, or Gates that ordered Osama killed? Really, she and all those on here praising her would be singing a different tune altogether.

Their would be a universal sigh of relief. Now aside from those that want to credit Bush (who was long gone and “not concerned with Osama”), there are those who argue that Osama should have been captured.

NO WAY – would that be the case had it been one of three mentioned above that gave the order. Instead they would be calling for a national holiday to celebrate Osama’s demise. The hiprocracy and bigotry knows no bounds.

  5. HR Says:

    HORSEHOCKEY!

BO has done no celebration. Where’s the celebration?

Using the event for politics? How could he NOT? Pretend he didn’t get him? Pretend he wasn’t President?

    What do you freakin’ WANT????

  6. Peter Says:

    Hafa adai:

It has become known to the FSM and Palau and Guam that there has been some significant discoveries in The Challenger Deep.

The Challenger Deep is the deepest known part of the world’s oceans and part of the Marianas Trench, about 300 kilometres southwest of Guam.

While the Challenger Deep is located within Federated States of Micronesia’s waters, Guam senators say there are potential gains to be made from exploration of this environment and that the rest of Micronesia deserves its share.

James Cameron has hinted at the potential to bring us some of the “mysteries” that seem to be present down there.

If the US makes a big deal about keeping the “mysteries” secret, the FSM, Palau and Guam want to be compensated for the lost of revenue the exposure of those “mysteries” would be for them.

  7. Health Info Says:

    The Metal That Heals

What precious metal is an industrial commodity and a powerful healing agent? If you guessed silver, you’re right.

Silver has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, and it has been used through the ages to cure infections and help heal wounds.

Now interest in silver is growing in the mainstream medical community because new studies have found that it can kill a wide range of bacteria and viruses, including the very dangerous E. coli and Staphylococcus.

You’re sure to hear more about silver as more doctors start using it.

The form of silver generally used as medicine is colloidal silver, which is a suspension of microscopic particles of silver in liquid.

To find out how to heal with silver, our editors turned to Mark Stengler, NMD, a naturopathic medical doctor and founder and medical director of the Stengler Center for Integrative Medicine in Encinitas, California.

Here’s what he had to say…

Healing with silver goes back a long time. Before the advent of antibiotics, colloidal silver was used to treat infections.

Silver utensils and vessels (with silver linings) were known to kill germs better than utensils and vessels made of other materials.

But after antibiotics came into vogue, silver went out of favor with conventional doctors except for a few uses—as a salve for burns and wounds…in nitrate eye solutions to prevent blindness in newborn babies…and as an antibacterial coating in the lining of catheters.

Holistic physicians, however, never stopped prescribing colloidal silver to prevent many types of viral, bacterial and fungal infections, with generally excellent results.

Now, with various bacteria strains becoming increasingly resistant to the effects of antibiotics, the rest of the medical community is once again becoming interested in colloidal silver.

Because silver attacks microbes in several different ways, it’s more difficult for these microbes to develop protective mechanisms.

In a Taiwanese study published in the journal Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, colloidal silver was found to kill the potentially deadly superbug methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, another dangerous superbug, on surfaces (such as doorknobs and light switches, where it is known to colonize and spread among people).

A study in Current Science found that colloidal silver can boost the effectiveness of standard antibiotics when used in combination with them.

Colloidal silver’s effectiveness against a range of viruses, including hepatitis C, herpes and HIV, also has been shown in both laboratory tests and in people.

    HEALING WITH SILVER
I recommend colloidal silver in liquid form, drops or spray to many of my patients with infections of all kinds, including those of the eyes, ears, throat, respiratory tract, digestive tract or urinary tract.

To determine how to use each form of colloidal silver, follow the instructions on the label.

    For example, it can be…
Ingested—one teaspoon of the preparation four times daily, up to seven days.

Put into a saline solution to treat pinkeye—two drops in one-half ounce of saline solution, and rinse the eye with the solution three times daily for seven days.

Placed directly in the ear—two drops in the affected ear three times daily for seven days.

    Sprayed on cuts.

    Other uses:
Colloidal silver often is used by holistic physicians to fight infection intravenously.

I frequently prescribe colloidal silver to be taken for several months by patients with Lyme disease…or I recommend it instead of antibiotics for infections.

For these types of uses, it is best taken under a doctor’s supervision (see below for the risks).

    Brand to try:
    Sovereign Silver (888-328-8840, http://www.NaturalImmunogenics.com).

This high-quality solution contains the smallest particles of any colloidal silver product on the market, with an average diameter of 0.8 nanometers (8 angstroms) per particle.

Small particle size is important for several reasons. It enables the particles to penetrate and kill microbe cells more easily…and makes it easier for your body to flush them out of your system once they’ve done their job.

    SAFETY ISSUES
Colloidal silver is safe for children, but it is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breast-feeding, because it has not been studied in these populations.

Ingesting silver products has, in rare cases, been linked to an irreversible condition called argyria, in which the skin turns bluish gray.

While this is clearly a side effect that no one wants to encounter, case studies show that this condition occurs only when silver products are consumed for a year or more and/or as a result of ingesting very large amounts

—at least one gram, which would require drinking an absurd amount of properly prepared colloidal silver solution (more than 100 quarts daily).

I have never seen a case of argyria with the hundreds of patients I have treated with colloidal silver, nor have any of my colleagues witnessed this in their patients.

With most commercially made silver products, I consider the risk for argyria to be negligible even with a regimen that lasts for several months (as long as the correct dose is used).

Do not attempt to make a colloidal silver product yourself, and do not ingest someone else’s homemade product.

A variety of do-it-yourself kits are available. However, these kits create silver particles that are quite large, making them less effective at killing microbes and more difficult for the body’s cells to eliminate than smaller particles.

Large silver particles are more likely to produce argyria with long-term use.

This is just plain blatant racist ugliness, how do you call it otherwise?? LSOS to be sure…!

Larry, congratulations! I did not get a bet in, and just name ‘I’ll have another’ resonated with me, too bad, so glad everyone else acted though. The south bay is a nice area, I would recommend the Terranea in Palos Verdes, it’s a special place.

    Luv, Zen Lill

  9. MM Says:

The difference is that although any intelligent person would despise this obvious racist, they would criticize or show displeasure by never setting foot in his bar.

When racists like this guy disagree with someone, they lynch them.

  10. CL Says:

How people can live with so much hate and ignorance controlling their hearts and minds is beyond me.

It may sound cliche, but people can be so much happier in life once they realize that love is way more fulfilling, powerful, and rewarding than hate can ever be.

  11. TS Says:

Well I looked up his website, he is a klansman. Just move on these people are not reformable, well unless your Byrd I suppose.

  12. LS Says:

Yet when black people cry racism at racial profiling, at the killing of innocent black teens, whites are the first to point fingers calling us racist. The Irony.

  13. Juanita Says:

What he said sounds racist to me. But since he as been posting those signs for years and he has many customers who frequent his bar which is full of racist pictorial displays it appears he is far from being the only one down there.

    Juanita

  14. BT Says:

LS, Point taken, although you paint with a broad brush..

Speaking from a white mans perspective, I’ve never been prouder to be an American than when Obama was elected POTUS, tears of pride streaked my face.

I was especially moved by the ability of my fellow white travelers to get over themselves in sufficient numbers to put the man in office.

We got a long ways to go yet my friend, please don’t allow the tree’s to obscure your view of the forest.

  15. LS Says:

BT, I agree I did not mean to suggest this was the opinion of ALL whites. But what is also evident, is that there are some folks who feel that when black people point out the ways in which they ave been aggrieved that they are playing the race card, thats what I was alluding too.

The fact that so many people are lining up to donate to Zimmerman proves that there are less like you who are willing to call out your own.

  16. Glen Says:

That may be true LS but the list is growing, just ask Jim Pendergraph, who is running in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional district.

Glen, I checked out your Link. I was amazed. A conservative newspaper calling out a birther for foolishness.

Zen Lill, I made a nice little profit betting all three of Luc’s choices. Thanks Luc.

  20. Anonymous Says:

I am pleased that the Charlotte Observer has said – and acted – in a way that the republican leadership has been woefully cowardly and slow in addressing.

Anyone still harping on this issue not only has no rational, reasonable agenda for the people, it is the clearest sign that hate is truly the engine and motivation for their campaigns.

The more clowns like this who go to congress, the less likely anything will be accomplished and the more we will suffer as a nation.

  21. Brian Says:

Another undereducated racist fat white man who hates the fact we have a half black American president.

I wish they would all just come out and say it instead of wasting money and time with this ridiculous issue.

It upsets me that we still have this level of racism in America while other nations around the world are so much more educated or they just don’t care to display this level of nonsense.
    Brian

  22. BB Says:

North Carolina may be the first southern state to go Democratic, since many progressives, and liberals have returned to retire there.

A lot of these baby boomers are educated folks who left the state forty years ago, have returned to retire. They bring a more progressive and liberal view with the votes they cast !

  23. Health Info Says:

Fish or Krill: Which Oil Is Better?

Health-wise, fish oil may no longer be the biggest fish in the sea (pun intended).

It’s well-known that fish oil, which is extracted from oily cold-water fish such as salmon, halibut and mackerel, has a load of health benefits, including lowering cholesterol, preventing blood clots and potentially offsetting health problems such as arthritis pain, menstrual pain and ADHD.

More and more scientists are getting excited about krill oil…supplement companies are advertising krill oil as superior to fish oil…and, as you may have noticed, more stores are selling krill oil.

So the question is—is krill oil, which is extracted from very small shrimplike creatures, better for our health than fish oil?

I called an expert in oils—Bethany Thayer, a registered dietitian and spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in Chicago. I think you’ll be intrigued by

    what she had to say…

    BREAKING DOWN THE BENEFITS
Fish oil: When comparing any given amount of krill oil to fish oil, fish oil contains more (usually 33% to 50% more) omega-3 fatty acids known as EPA and DHA—these are antioxidants that protect cells from harmful changes caused by free radicals.

Prices vary widely, but fish oil also tends to be about 30% to 60% cheaper than krill oil because fish oil can be derived from more sources.

Since the dosing for fish oil and krill oil is typically the same, fish oil will leave less of a dent in your wallet.

Krill oil: Though there is only about one-half to two-thirds as much EPA and DHA in a given amount of krill oil, the EPA and DHA that is there is 20% to 30% more “bioavailable”—meaning that more of it is easily absorbed by our bodies because of its molecular makeup.

That means that krill oil is digested better by humans, and, therefore, it is much less likely to cause the “fishy burps” and gross aftertaste known to affect some fish oil users.

And unlike fish oil, krill oil contains the antioxidant astaxanthin, which crosses the blood-brain barrier, so it protects the brain and central nervous system from free radical damage even better than fish oil does.

Let’s see what the research shows…

    HEAD-TO-HEAD STUDIES
One big challenge in comparing the two oils is that only a handful of studies on krill oil exist overall, but for fish oil, they number in the thousands!

But here are the few studies that pit the two oils against each other…

According to a 2011 study published in Journal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, krill oil produced significantly greater declines in cholesterol and liver triglyceride levels than fish oil in rats.
    Winner: Krill oil.

According to a 2004 study from McGill University in Canada published in Alternative Medicine Review, krill oil was significantly more effective than fish oil at lower and equal doses at reducing blood levels of sugar, triglycerides and LDL “bad” cholesterol in people. Winner: Krill oil.

According to a 2003 study of women of reproductive age (age 33, on average) published in that same journal, krill oil supplements were more effective than fish oil at reducing breast tenderness, joint pain and emotional symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome (PMS). It’s worth noting, however, that two of the study authors worked for a krill oil manufacturer.
    Winner: Krill oil.

According to a 2010 study of 113 patients in the journal Lipids, blood levels of EPA and DHA increased just as significantly in those given either fish oil or krill oil over seven weeks, compared with those given a placebo. Winner: Too close to call.

    GETTING HOOKED
These study results sure do make me think that krill oil is at least equal to, if not superior to, fish oil for general wellness.

But Thayer said that more research needs to be done on krill oil to be able to declare it the true “winner,” since, as I mentioned earlier, only a handful of studies on krill oil exist overall.

When I asked whether it would be a good idea to take both fish oil and krill oil every day, she said that taking both in full doses could provide too much omega-3, which might lead to bleeding because these oils work as natural blood thinners.

Her suggestion is to take either just one of them or to alternate.

Some warnings from Thayer before taking either krill oil or fish oil: Avoid taking either if you’re allergic to shellfish or seafood, because either might cause a reaction.

If you’re pregnant or breast-feeding, talk to your doctor before taking either supplement, since their safety is unknown.

You may also want to talk to your doctor first before taking either supplement if you’re on a blood thinner, because krill and fish oil are natural blood thinners and may cause an excess.

Also ask your doctor whether it’s a good idea to avoid taking either in the week before surgery, because of the blood-thinning effect.
