Obama Cares About Women

Good morning!

Well, first things first…I had it on my calendar on the 3rd as a reminder to myself but hey…what can I say, I still missed it. So…HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY OBAMA!…our beloved President. I forgot to wish him yesterday but I am sending him belated birthday wishes today. I have never felt such admiration toward any president in the past, as I do our current president. My only wish for him is that he gets re-elected in November. Are you with me?

Speaking of Obama…August 1st marked a very important day for women’s healthcare:

No co-pay on some women’s health services

As part of the federal health care legislation, insurers will now have to cover eight kinds of women’s services – everything from contraception to domestic violence counseling – without charging co-payments, deductibles or any other cost to the patient.

But don’t put the wallet away yet.

Because the change applies only to plans issued on or after Wednesday, most women will not immediately be able to go to their local drugstore to pick up their birth control or go to a doctor for a checkup without having to pay. They’ll have to wait until their policy renews, which for many with employer-backed plans is Jan. 1, 2013.

Standardizing policy

Health advocates welcomed the coverage expansion, calling it good for U.S. health care.

“We’re moving toward some standardization that as a country we think is good health and good public policy,” said Heather Saunders Estes, president and chief executive officer of Planned Parenthood Shasta Pacific, a region that includes San Francisco. “We don’t want to make it hard for people to get preventive care.”

About 47 million women nationwide – more than 5 million in California – are in health plans that must cover these new preventive services at no charge, according to a report released Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

A few plans will not have to comply with the new rules. Health plans that existed before March 23, 2010, and have not substantially changed will be “grandfathered in” and do not have to offer the benefits free of charge under the federal law unless they lose that status. And some plans may be exempted from the contraception requirement for religious reasons.

The new changes may have a less dramatic impact in California than in other states because California already required health insurance policies to cover many of these services in advance of the federal law.

Co-pay rule new for state

State law for more than a dozen years has required those California health plans that provide coverage for prescription drugs to also cover a variety of prescription contraceptive methods approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The big difference for Californians is that health consumers now will no longer have to pay a co-payment or contribute toward their deductible to get contraception or these other preventive services.

“In talking with women about the importance of the new law, I’ve heard from some who have had to skip filling their prescriptions because they could not afford the co-pay,” state Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones said in a statement. “This new benefit makes a tangible difference in the lives of women.”

California health insurers have supported this element of the federal health law, saying that providing cancer screenings or other preventive services without co-payments can save money down the line.

Investing in prevention

“Whatever the views in other parts of the country, California health plans have a positive view toward the small investment in prevention compared to the large cost of treating serious disease when diagnosed too late,” said Patrick Johnston, chief executive officer of the California Association of Health Plans.

Johnston said some California insurers and employers have beaten the federal government to the punch. “Many plans, as well as some large employers, have emphasized free prevention as a way to head off more expensive treatment,” he said.

That said, the issue of covering contraception became a heated issue earlier this year. In a compromise, the federal government exempted churches, other houses of worship, and similar organizations from covering contraception on the basis of their religious objections. Non-exempted religious institutions have another year to comply.

Women’s health coverage expanded

The following health services will be covered with no co-payments starting Wednesday:

– Well-woman visits, or checkups, and preventive care services such as mammograms and cervical cancer screening.

– Testing for HPV, or human papilloma virus.

– Screening for gestational diabetes.

– Annual counseling for sexually transmitted infections.

– Annual counseling and screening for HIV, or human immunodeficiency virus.

– All federally approved, prescribed contraceptive methods and counseling.

– Breastfeeding support, supplies and counseling.

– Screening and counseling for interpersonal and domestic violence.

Readers: Women make up 52% of this country. We have the power girls. If you’ve got a good, smart head on your shoulders you know that Obama has your best interest at heart. Hmm…let’s see…he was raised by women and is the only man in his family of four.  I think he gets women and we know he supports them. Now Romney…how many sons does he have? Enough said. There is no reason to vote for Romney.

The Emperor has decided to assist the Ojibawe. He has dispatched his 4th Armor Division to send a Territorial Governor to help the Ojibawe dig out of the dust and debris that could be trapping them in an inescapable orbit caused by a star from the explosion that would be too big for the Ojibawe to escape from.

The Territorial Governor is a small vessel, about one and three quarters the size of the planet earth with guns the size of Alaska and particle adjusters(electron accelerators) the size of Texas. The vessel is used to breakup and change the composition of metals in space.

Metallurgy is a science used to force electrons on an element or to force an element to release an electron or two. The result is an element that can be blasted into smithereens by the big guns of the T.G. vessel.

This T.G. vessel is sent out to carve a path through the escaping debris coming from the collisions and search for any remains of the Ojibawe or any clues to their whereabouts.

  2. Manasi Says:

Michelle, this was a well organized attack by crazy white men. They just came in with guns and began shooting us like we were animals.

Racism is so prevalent in America because so many whites either look the other way or pretend that it doesn’t exist.

    Manasi

  3. Jabeen Says:

Michelle it is dumb-ass white boys who can’t tell the difference between arabs and Indians in turbans. Not that it would be okay to do this at a Mosque, but these shit for brains racist white boys are really dumb.

    jabeen

  4. DN Says:

Michelle, they just came in and started shooting people in the face. Laughing and calling us names.

  5. OS Says:

Michelle, we Sikhs have had all kinds of vandalism for years here in Oak Creek Wisconsin. Most of the help we have been given is for us to make sure that the whites in the town know that we are not arabs.

This is said with such lack of sensitivity as if it would be okay to do the terrible things that have been done to us if we were arabs.

It is so true that whites really don’t care what happens to OTWs as long as it doesn’t come back to make them look like what they are sick racists.

  6. Lorrie Says:

Michelle there are 4 dead outside and three dead inside.

  7. Ajala Says:

Michelle I saw only one shooter. He shot quickly killing about 6 of us. Then he ran outside. I think he was met by a policeman who had a gun fight with him.

  8. Henri Says:

    Merci beaucoup. Howie. Loving it.

    PrP:

I have noticed your absence from MM blog lately. Is everything OK?

In reference to your comment #9 today: You do not know any more than what I have written in my comment. You only speculate.

You are free to speculate that the Ojibawe made it through to earth. Perhaps they have and perhaps they are blown to smitherines. Time will tell.

As far as your blog: I do not care what you post on your blog and do not read it so no one has anythiong to fear.

Michelle’s blog is the home of Howie’s comments.

    Have a good day.

    HOWIE

  11. Lois Says:

What a SCOOP Michelle. A eye witness blogged to your blog what happened before CNN and other stations got it right. If this is true, you have a description of the man before the MNM has. WOW

My girl friend called to say the shooter was a fat bald white guy. She says that he was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt and he shot 4 people.
    ————————-

Can’t wait to see what the guy looks like.

    Lois

  12. Nancy Says:

PrP, I went to your blog. I think you and Howie both could be right. The Ojibawe could have the exact experience Howie has blogged and still have escaped and be on the way here.

OR they can be here already, for their own purposes or heading for here secretly for their own purposes.

Thanks Howie for your blog. and Thanks for the other version PrP.

    Nancy

  13. Eric Says:

Michelle, no doubt you have a scoop regardless if the quote Lois#11 mentioned comes true.

The facts concerning the number of cops involved in the killing of the gunman from you earlier blog posts said that the shooting between the gunman and the police involved more than just ONE cop.
    ———————–

Then cops came in an shot one of the shooters right in front of me.
    ————————
This person said “cops.” This was huge because up till about a few minutes ago the police was telling us that only one cop had a fire fight with the gunman.

So Anonymous must be a witness.

    Eric.

  14. HOWIE Says:

    Nancy:

Have you ever considered becoming a Diplomat?

    HOWIE

  15. PM Says:

That is true the policeman was shot in the stomach, face and I saw blood coming from his legs and arms. At least from my view point before the other officer started shooting a blaze of bullets at the killer.

  16. Madhu Says:

All I am seeing are statements saying that we Sikhs are good american citizens as if to say to white racists go after other OTWs because this bunch are white ass kissing OTWs.

Why is it that white america can’t just tell their white racists that it is WRONG to be racist to any OTW rather than just to the ones that white america feels are good white loving OTWs.

Robert,Rt, your assessment of the white race being mostly racists and condoners of racism is so true. Now, my people who have said that you were playing the “race” card find themselves voicing what you were saying and themselves being accused of playing the “race” card.

We OTW americans are living with a majority of americans that think they are entitled to privileges that the rest of us are not entitled to.

I hope that when Muslim terrorist come to this country to take revenge on America, that we OTWs that are not threatened by them turn the other eye to the killing of americans as long as they only kill white americans.

If white america is okay with their own killing OTW americans, then OTW americans should be OKAY with non american killing only white americans.

I moan the death of my relatives by fellow white american terrorist as deeply as white americans will moan the deaths of their kin by terrorist from outside america.

I am just sick of these gun toting narcissists getting a pass from their white brethren. They get to arm themselves with the legal permission of their white legislatures and do their murders without having their white brethren calling it what it is disgusting acts of racism.

    Madhu

  17. Sofia Says:

Has anyone noticed that when white racists kill in mass the Main Stream Media call it “domestic terrorism,” but if an OTW kills a bunch whites it is called an act of evil or racism.

Fuck the bastards that think they own special rights in our country.

I can’t wait until they start getting theirs. I hope the outsiders come here and buy their weapons here and kill as many of these white bastards as they can.

I personally wouldn’t help the authorities catch any of the as long as they kill only whites.

    Sofia

  18. Jesus Says:

Madhu, I agree so much with you. I am so tired of white americans attempting to appeal to our patriotism when they suffer harm from outsiders while we are expected to suck it up when we OTWs are subjected to the same terrorism by members of their race here in America.

“Fuck’em” should be our rallying cry if the non “domestic terrorist” turn their violence towards white americans only.

So if you Terrorists who wish to fuck the white americans up are listening, have at it and we OTWs will look the other way.

Aim true and then return safely home. They are as evil as you claim. Do your best to eradicate the anti-christs.

    A true patriotic American.

    Jesus

  19. Mangala Says:

Where were all these police when we were being beat up, having our property vandalized with racist graffiti scrawled everywhere here in Oak Creek?

It is so obvious that this was a stupid racist that targeted turbaned men because he thought that meant they were muslim.

The way the media is going about it is they are explaining that you shot the wrong OTWs. When will white america learn that it is disgusting that white american americans do this to other americans with impunity.

  20. Mark Says:

It seems you have a real scoop Michelle. The description of the killer coming out seems to match the one posted to your Aug 4th blog way before any other media had it.

He was a tall BALD headed man and in a T-shirt just as your witness blogged from the scene. WOW, my friends are blown away by your influence in the blogasphere.

    Mark

  21. Wendy Says:

Using “Domestic” terrorism to describe the evil white men direct towards members of their own country is indeed a hypocritical way to avoid saying that many white americans who target other Americans because of their race, religion or sexual preference are racists and bigots.

But I beg you, our fellow non white Americans, to not become like a few of my race. Most white americans DO NOT condone their actions. We are as appalled as you are!

I hope that most Americans that are non white will not take the attitude being proposed by those angered because they are hurting and moaning their injured and dead.

I and most white americans moan with you. We are as sick of this racist behavior by crazy white men as you are.

We are all Americans and, as such, we weep when any fellow American weeps.

    Wendy

  22. Tracy Says:

    WOW!!

    Michelle, you are HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a scoop!!!!! I know this is not how you would wish to prove the validity of the scope and power of your blog, but it is a testament to the dedication and belief of your fans to what you have produced here.

I love the openness your blog brings to the whole world.

    Tracy

  23. Prism Princess Says:

    HOWIE and Nancy, yes…

I can see lessons by Nancy in diplomacy being of benefit.

Everything is very okay; thank you for asking after me, HOWIE.

    PrP

  24. Anon Says:

I am white and I am no racist. I do not believe that I am any better or any worse than anyone else, nor am I entitled to any more or any less than any others. I find it hard to believe that my thinking is not the norm for the majority of white Americans.

Sure, there are many white racists in the US, but it certainly is not a majority or most of the white race. I have seen today that racism is alive and well among OTW’s as well. Whatever happened to tolerance and love thy neighbor. I am seeing as much racism from whites towards OTW’s as I see racism from OTW’s towards whites lately.

There is more class indifference between the haves and have nots than anything else. Greed is inherant in the human species and is the true cause of all our social troubles. Greed also knows no racial boundries, it affects the entire human race.

  25. Scott Says:

PrP, I visited your blog and I agree with Nancy. One can never get too many different opinions. It is All GOOD!

But, if I may ask, could you in the future when you refer to the comment of someone on the blog refer by name and number of comment.

Michelle is not getting so many comments that it is a real pain finding the exact number and place the comment you are citing is coming from. So 12.Nancy would have helped a lot.

    Thanks

    Scott.

  26. Barry Says:

Anon24, your comment that you are seeing as much racism from OTWs as your are seeing from white racist is the new “I am not racist” bullshit.

No way could that be true. The OTWs that are expressing their anger about white racism aren’t saying they are racist or even acting as if they are racists. They are simply reacting from anger because of apologists like you who refused to see the state of racism that is practiced by our race.

Face it most of us DO believe that we are entitled to benefits that the OTWs are not. I am not saying that is the way it should be only that it is the way it IS.

You and I both know this to be true. I am a father of three bi-racial children from my second marriage. I have two children by my first wife who is white and three my second who is Chinese.

The treatment my bi-racial children go through, on a daily basis, is evident of the racist behavior and acceptance of my race towards it. Of course not all white americans are racist or tolerant of racist attitudes.

But it is certainly true that MOST of white americans are in that category or the racism would have stopped by now.

Your denial is like that of most of my family. They refuse to believe that my children by my wife today have it harder than those by my first wife.

That is poppy cock and you and they both know it. Racism and its tolerance is readily accepted by our race. The last refuge by those who do not wish to stand up to it is to claim reverse racism, or to claim that the OTW is just as racist as we are. How disgusting is that for an excuse to justify our race’s conduct towards our fellow americans?

What you are calling racism by most of the OTWs is reflect anger from having to deal with the shit our race puts them through on a daily basis.

I have watched my three lovely children by my wife become bitter because of their treatment at the hands of my race. It makes me ashamed to be white sometimes.

When I hear whining apologists like you attempting to assert that the playing field is equal when it comes to racism, I want to puke.

You sir, are disingenuous at best and a flat out liar at worse. Of course we could both be wrong and you could just be misinformed or a narcissist.

But to say that you think that OTWs are just as bigoted or racist as us is ridiculous on its face.

You don’t see them going into religious white only establishments and slaughtering us at will.

Neither would you expect the news media to simply call it domestic terrorism, if they did. They would have every station calling it a racist attack upon the white race and demanding a profile stop of every member of that race the killer happened to be.

But we both know that that will not happen in Oak Creek, WI. Racist white men will still be allowed to walk around armed to the teeth in the Sikh neighborhoods.

No one will stop and frisk them. But if this had been an attack by a sikh on a white establishment, every sikh venturing into a predominately white neighborhood in Oak Creek would be stopped and searched. So please explain to me again, how that amounts to us whites being as threatened by the violent behavior of OTWs as they should be by us to them.

That is the situation those sikh and other OTWs on this blog are railing about. They are not being racist because they are calling the situation our race has placed them in what it is.

Your quickness to see this as “racism” by the group that is being terrorized by our race is exactly the helpless situation they see themselves in.

Members of our race like you are so quick to accuse them of playing the race card or of being racist because they don’t just shut up and accept the description of their situation as we see it.

Well, let me tell you if you had bi-racial children you would be singing a different tune.

    Barry

  27. Anon Says:

    Barry #26,
You are likely correct in asserting that white America is the cause of racism in this nation. I too am ashamed at times to belong to the white race. This recent attack was absolutely horrible. Knowing only a few white Americans, my immediate family. It is difficult for me to fathom that racisism is the norm among my race.

My apologies to any that may have been hurt or insulted by my words. Racism is such an ugly practice, due to demographics I can’t think of a white American that I know personally. Again my apolgies and point well made. Please excuse me.

  28. Peter Says:

Michelle, what a scoop Lois #11 described the assailant before the rest of the media. I love this blog.

    Peter

  29. Barry Says:

Anon27. I didn’t mean to come off so know-it-all. I was probably over reacting as a protective parent.

I meant no disrespect. My apologies if you felt I stepped over the line trying to make my point.

It has been brought to my attention that you have been stationed here for more than a year. No measurable amount of success has been recorded in your interactions. Unless things change soon, be on notice I will move for your reassignment. If that is what you are waiting for, you are in luck. If it is not, “shit or get off the pot” and do it soon. Your choice.

  31. Conan Says:

Why am I not mystified when I tune in to get more info about the white supremacist who slaughtered unarmed people in a place of worship that I get mostly a litany self congratulations by the police department.

If the police department had been so great why had they not investigated more of the attacks that the sikh had experienced leading up to this incident?

America is a bastion for racists to act out their hatreds. We occasionally get a few here in Ireland. They come here either lamenting that they have to share “their” country with minorities or bragging about how they keep their minorities in “their place.”

Sad that they think just because we are a predominately white country, that we would automatically share their racism.

The man who allegedly murdered six people at a Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee yesterday, identified in media reports as Wade Michael Page, was a frustrated neo-Nazi who had been the leader of a racist white-power band.

In 2010, Page, then the leader of the band End Apathy, gave an interview to the white supremacist website Label 56. He said that when he started the band in 2005, its name reflected his wish to “figure out how to end people’s apathetic ways” and start “moving forward.” “I was willing to point out some of my faults on how I was holding myself back,” Page said.

Why is the chief communication by the Sihks an announcement that they are NOT muslims. As if it would have been okay or less of a tragedy if they were.

We are human beings. White americans have no right to single any race out for intolerance and terror.

I cannot stand hearing these terrorized people feeling that their only salvation is to convince white america that they are NOT muslim because they wear a turban.

Notice no one stands us and says So What, NO ONE has the right to do what they did to you whether you were a muslim or not.

But here, no, not in white america. The authorities are busy telling us how brave they were when they were only doing what they get paid to do —- that would be to defend the innocent.

    This country sucks!
