Romney Is Money’s Bitch
Posted by Michelle Moquin on September 11th, 2012
Good morning!
I’m Voting for Obama Because I Love Money, But I’m Not Money’s B*tch
Romney is money’s bitch. He’s ambition’s bitch. He’s success’s bitch and he’s victory’s bitch. And, like those particular sort of pampered dogs you see in the laps of the very rich, he yaps and snaps and snarls at the everyday mutt. He’s frightened and confused by a dog who’s happy to treasure the sunshine and play with the other dogs and eat enough food to fill its belly and lap enough water to slake its thirst and then get out of the way for the other dogs to have their turn. Romney’s been trained since birth that not only are there No Other Dogs But Him And His Ilk, but that dogs who don’t aspire to immobility on a fat lap are to be snarled at, chased away, and bred out of existence.
In 2010 and 2011, Mitt and Ann paid $6.2 million in federal tax on $42.5 million in income (get away from my food!!!) for an average tax rate just shy of 15 percent (get away from my water!!!), substantially less than what most middle-income Americans pay (yapyapyapyap!!!)
He’s curled up so snugly and safely in the lap of wealth that he’s never once bolted and gallivanted and lived in the world. The freedom’s there, but he’d rather put more diamond studs, more trinkets and jewels, and more frills and feathers on his too-tight collar, and double-check that his leash is double-clasped to it, never to come loose.
And there’s nothing wrong with any of that — except that Romney has zero sympathy for those who don’t feel the same way he does. And he’s infecting other people — former friends of mine, who have warped and mutated into creatures of liquid ambition, effortless greed, with zero compassion for anyone who would dare to be happy to work a job and then simply value time with their families and friends and maybe expect some reasonable amount of health care and comfort. I’m seeing too many people, people who should know better, who truly think that life should be an endless hunching over a food bowl, chasing everyone else away, without respite. Fear is the fuel, and nothing frightens them more than people who aren’t fueled by fear.
Nothing wrong with being rich. Nothing wrong with striving and bettering yourself. But there’s definitely something wrong with people confusing capitalism and corporatism (the latter wants to destroy the former) — and then demanding everyone else make the same mistake. Obama is rich — by his own hand. He made his money writing two books — and those didn’t even make him bestseller bucks until after he became president. And he’s acted, as president, the way that people who become rich and know how to spend their money act. He’s traveled the world, broadened his horizons. And in his travels, maybe, maybehe’s tried to conquer some of the fear which, let’s face it, none of us truly never rid ourselves of. But goddamnit, he’s trying. Mitt Romney is the only person I’ve ever seen who’s traveled the world in wealth and comfort and managed to narrow the canvas of his experience and opinions.
Obama has heroically, foolhardily, quixotically tried to make things work for both sides — the super-rich and the people who are genuinely repelled by the world of the super-rich. They can both live on this planet. Not according to Romney, though, who’s repeatedly said, over and over, “I believe everyone should live this way.” This statement is usually made standing on someone’s private tennis court.
Well, everyone can’t have a private tennis court. Obama understands this. Romney recoils from this. Obama wants to make a world in which every strata can live, happily, on their own terms. In recoiling from the gorgeous messiness of America, Romney is building a scrubbed-clean, fenced-off citadel, surrounded by a worker dorm shantytown.
I’m voting for Obama. I’m voting for the messiness.
*******
Readers: In case you haven’t guessed, I’m voting for Obama too. :) What say you?
Lisa: :) :(
Rocky: Thanks for posting. It is obvious we are not going to know about Romney’s tax plan until after the fact. He is just going to be full of surprises if he makes it into the presidency.
Gretta: And there are plenty of them out there.
Samari: It is truly amazing what some women have to endure just to live their lives. It too makes me sick.
Durar: You said it. Life would be very different for the men if women had rights. Now they have nothing to fear…that was until this girl had had enough.
Fida: I cannot imagine a family thinking of choosing to murder their child over the act of taking on the perp. But I don’t doubt more than one family has thought of this in the same insane situation. I’m happy you were able to flee. I HOPE life is going well for you.
Beverly: Nicely said.
Thanks Larry.
Howie: Nice to see you back.
Vera: Another sick sad story. I could say more but after reading the comments it looks like the other readers pretty much covered it all.
I’m done for the day. Blog me
Added 9:31 AM: The one thing about vacations is you lose track of the time and the date. A good thing most of the time except when you don’t want to. :) I just realized what day it is today. My heart, thoughts and love go out to the families of 9/11.

Peacin’ out.

Romney and Obamacare: the state of repeal
September 11, 2012
Mitt Romney appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press over the weekend, and made some remarks that have been portrayed by liberal media sources (and a few nervous conservatives) as a retreat from his commitment to repeal Obamacare in its entirety. | READ MORE »

A Contraceptive Gel—for Men!
For many couples, contraception is the woman’s responsibility.
Most of my friends would say that it’s because women are more responsible, but they would also say that it’s because there are a greater number of easily manageable, effective and reversible options available to women (pills, patches, shots, vaginal rings, IUDs, etc.) than there are to men, who can rely on only condoms or vasectomy. (Of course, some men think that they can rely on withdrawal—ha!)
That’s why I found a recent study on a new male contraceptive so fascinating.
Researchers are developing a new gel for men and have found that it creates a “very low sperm count” (fewer than one million sperm per milliliter)—a count that’s low enough for pregnancy to be considered extremely unlikely—in 89% of men.
How does that sound to you?
TWO HORMONES STOP SPERM IN ITS TRACKS
I’m sure you’re wondering how effective this gel would be compared with popular forms of birth control, but it’s too early to know.
For one thing, the 89% figure I mentioned above is considered too low for real-life use—the researchers want to get that figure up to 95%, and then, they figure, the gel will be ready for real-life (meaning, real-sex) testing.
It seems almost inevitable, though, that some kind of sperm-suppressing male contraceptive is going to come out of all this.
For one thing, the idea behind the new gel is surprisingly simple. When I called lead researcher Christina Wang, MD, she told me that prior studies had shown that giving men two particular hormones through injections, implants or pills would suppress sperm.
The hormones are progestin (a synthetic female hormone, actually) and, surprisingly, testosterone, the hormone that makes men, well, men (more on that in a minute). But the type of progestin used was causing side effects, such as acne and increases in cholesterol levels that would have made the idea unappealing for most men.
She and her colleagues decided to see whether a new type of synthetic progestin, called Nestorone, might not only work with testosterone to reduce sperm counts but also cause fewer side effects…and whether they could apply the hormones in an easy-to-use gel form. So they performed what’s called an early “proof-of-concept” study.
Results:
As hoped, the side effects were mild—only a few men developed acne, which Dr. Wang thinks might be controlled by adjusting the hormonal concentrations in the gel.
I know what you’re thinking…testosterone as birth control? Dr. Wang explained that supplementing the body with testosterone leads to the body creating less of it in the testes—and sperm doesn’t get produced unless there’s a high concentration of testosterone in the testes.
Amazingly, this reduction of testosterone in the testes doesn’t decrease libido. Plus, research done with testosterone injections has shown that the body’s testosterone production kicks in again once supplementation stops, so the changes are reversible (though returning to normal sperm production can take six months or so).
If any men are concerned that Nestorone, a synthetic female hormone, may have feminizing effects, they shouldn’t be, said Dr. Wang. “It’s not like estrogen, so there’s no potential for that.”
WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE GEL?
As fascinating as the study is, obviously the effectiveness of the gel needs to be improved if it’s going to become a viable contraceptive.
“Somehow, not every guy using the gel suppresses testosterone, and we’re working on finding out why,” Dr. Wang said. More studies are planned.
All of this, of course, leads me to the larger question: Even if a contraceptive gel does become available for guys, would they actually use it?
Dr. Wang thinks so. She mentioned surveys that have shown that about 50% of men would use a male contraceptive like this.
Still, as much of a breakthrough as this is, personally, I have my doubts…because what people say that they’ll do isn’t always what they will do!
I want to know what you think.
Men:
Would you use a contraceptive gel that you had to apply, say, every day? Ladies: Would you trust your man to use it, or would you still use your own birth control as another layer of protection? Comment below!

I am happy to hear that the authorities are not going to allow the greedy SEAL bastard to get away with violating his secrecy oath for a few dollars more.
===========================
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is suggesting that a retired Navy SEAL be punished for writing a book giving an insider’s account of the U.S. raid that killed terrorist leader Osama bin Laden.
Asked in a network interview if he thinks the writer should be prosecuted, Panetta replied, “I think we have to take steps to make clear to him and to the American people that we’re not going to accept this kind of behavior.”
Panetta was referring to the newly published account of the U.S. SEAL raid that led to bin Laden’s killing in May 2011 in Pakistan. The book was written by a retired SEAL under the pseudonym of Mark 0wen. He was subsequently identified in media accounts as Matt Bissonnette.
In the interview, broadcast Tuesday on “CBS This Morning,” Panetta told co-host Norah O’Donnell that if the Defense Department failed to take any action in response to the book, “then everybody else who pledges to ensure that that doesn’t happen is gonna get the long signal, that somehow they can do it without any penalty to be paid.”
====================
Let’s hope he gets what is his true due.

I heard that a poll by the Pew Research Center shows that the star of the Democratic National Convention was Bill Clinton.
I like Bill Clinton. But after thinking about it for a while, I realized that this is just another reminder that what we experience in America is through white consciousness.
America is a white experience, we OTWs just live in it. Hence, of course a white man would be the highlight over the black Obama.
Me, though, I thought Obama’s speech and Michelle’s speech were the highlights of the DNC.
That’s just this OTW’s opinion.

Corporations have proprietary information that employees sign non-disclosure statements to protect. It is not too much to expect that the most elite of our warriors should protect the same type of information with regards to national security and honor.
The writer of the book is a brave warrior who did not regard his fellow SEALS or his Country when choosing to go rogue.
What this SEAL revealed is not for the greater interest of our troops, or world in general, e.g. Mai Lai massacre and other such atrocities; it is for his own self-aggrandizement.
He should be punished for breaching a valid contract, whether written or implied, by revealing sensitive information.

President Clinton’s speech was so necessary cause Romney was trying to put a wedge between the Clinton administration vs the Obama’s and Clinton cleaned Romney’s clock with the truth!
It does not matter if Mr.Clinton and Mr. Obama are close personal friends, they have the same Political views of caring for people!
So Mr. Clinton spoke about the truth of what the current political issues are in a clear plain voice! Yeah, it was a highlight cause it blew away the cobweb of the lies the Republicans were spewing, he was a fresh clear breath of air

Thanks for returning Howie>
Hello, Zen Lill are you out there?

I don’t care about the poll. President Obama’s speech has my vote. As a sitting President he had to be calmer and more judicious.
He had the hardest dance to dance. I would put Michelle and Bill Clinton and San Antonio mayor Castro and Joe Biden tied for second.
They were each brilliant in different ways. I would put the other Castro twin 3rd. It actually does not matter the order, as they all far outdid any of the Republicans!!
September 11th, 2012 at 12:29 pm
Yes, the incumbent and his handlers had to go back to the 1990′s and bring Slick Willie out to show the people how “Forward” they are – classic.
Barack spoke for forty-seven minutes never acknowdeging the mess this country is in, and what he would ever do to get it out. Why?
It is because they have an agenda they look to put into place and could care less about the failures of the US economy – to them, it is just another casualty on the “transformational road” of their’s.
September 11th, 2012 at 12:30 pm
The book of this SEAL is a perfect act of hypocrisy and opportunism .
It is certain that his actions have political purposes. It is not by coincidence that his book comes out at the time of presidential elections .
September 11th, 2012 at 12:32 pm
If Obama is reelcted, we can only hope that the military will step in. They swear to protect the United States from all enemies both foreign and domesitc.
September 11th, 2012 at 12:32 pm
John, Clinton was great!
By the way, how was Bush’s speech for Romney? I missed it.
September 11th, 2012 at 12:33 pm
Bill was great, no doubt about it, but there were so many great speakers at this convention, I don’t see any sense in trying to pick the greatest of the great. :-)
September 11th, 2012 at 12:36 pm
I have to say this was one of the best Conventions I have ever witnessed and yeah the BIG DOG knocked it way, way out of the park.
Now if only President Obama and the Dems would go out and outline his points to the general public.
Everything Bill Clinton said was true and straight to the point and in simple terms that everyone could understand.
The Reps’ strategist who were all over the media even admitted the Dems Convention was much better and the crowd..FIRED UP AND READY TO GO!!! Wish I could have been there.

Mitt Romney sucks ass and Paul “Lyin’” Ryan is pure scum. Church and State are supposed to be separate, but I am not the one linking them together. Can someone tell me what kind of moron would be a mormon? Certainly not a presidential candidate. Would you vote for a follower of Charles Manson or Jim Jones, of course not? But it seems half the country wants to support a polygamist who needs deprogramming.
This ass-sucker Romney is only qualified to enrich himself and whoever his real bosses are???. If you think Bush fucked this country up, wait and see what Mitt the Twitt will do if he were to be elected. And there is a good chance of this happenning because the GOP always cheat when it comes to tallying the votes. God bless America because she’s gonna need it should these two idiots end up running the country.
September 11th, 2012 at 3:15 pm
That crusty moldy Pat Robertson is at it again. This time, he told a man who expressed issues with his wife to become muslim so he could move to Saudia Arabia and beat her [because she won't submit to his authority]. He also said, “i don’t think we condone wife beating these days.” Pat, you don’t think? You don’t think. That’s the problem!

This kind of speech only serves to incites more violence against women. Men like these are what is wrong with the world. Not just in the US, but men everywhere.
/SB
September 11th, 2012 at 3:23 pm
Men are seriously fucked up. Chris Brown glorifies violence against women too – he got a tattoo of Rhianna’s beaten face on his neck?? WTF? The world is upside down.
/SB
September 11th, 2012 at 6:54 pm
SB the world isn’t upside down. However, in the US women give men permission to keep a hard hand up against their ass.
You ladies control the vote so don’t complain about the laws that operate to your peril. If you dumb bitches had any real sense you would not let that happen at the polls.
Don’t take that personal. I realize that you personally are not in that category. But enough of you are so dumb as to render your position irrelevant.
I am expressly displeased with this situation because I am sitting in prison because of you dumb bitches. If you hadn’t been so eager to allow men to control your lives, I would not have had to kill that bastard that tortured my mother for 31 years.
If I had not killed him, I would not be in my 6th year of a life sentence. But if I had to do it all over, I would do the same. Of course, I would do it with less emotion so that I could have gotten away with it.
My only joy is that my mother is so very happy that that bastard is dead. She is very sad that I am here. But yesterday my appeal came through.
I will be released do to a trial error by those stupid cops who didn’t read me my rights. Thank God for “the fruits from the rotten tree rule.” And my mother that worked so hard to get me out.

Wow, the more one learns about the republican party the less you like the assholes. I just found out that one of the billionaires, Sheldon Adelson will get a $2 billion tax cut.
Insane. Unless you are Adelson. Who are these people who are voting for a party whose tax policy will give one man a $2 billion dollar tax cut.
Isabel
September 11th, 2012 at 7:15 pm
Sorry I forgot to list my source:
————————–
Casino mogul Sheldon Adelson’s backing of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney may not just make political sense for the billionaire — it may also be in his best interest financially.
Adelson has vowed to spend as much as $100 million to help sway the 2012 election. According to a new report by Seth Hanlon, the director of fiscal reform at the Center for American Progress Action Fund, Adelson could turn that investment into a $2 billion tax cut if Romney is elected.
From Hanlon’s report on how Romney’s tax plan could benefit Adelson:
• Cut top tax rates, saving Adelson approximately $1.5 million on his annual compensation as chief executive of his casino company.
• Maintain the special low rates on dividends, potentially saving Adelson nearly $120 million on a single year’s worth of dividends, more than enough to recoup his politi- cal donations.
• Maintain the special low rates on capital gains, allowing Adelson to make back his political donations in capital gains tax cuts just by selling a fraction of his stock.
• Provide a tax windfall of an estimated $1.2 billion to Adelson’s company, Las Vegas Sands Corp., on untaxed profits from its Asian casinos, as well as a tax exemption forfuture overseas profits. Adelson’s casinos already enjoy a special foreign tax exemp- tion from the Chinese administrative region of Macau, and Gov. Romney would make those foreign profits exempt from U.S. taxes as well.
• Eliminate the estate tax, potentially providing a staggering $8.9 billion windfall to Adelson’s heirs.
==================
Did you notice that that figures becomes $8.9 Billion. That’s why inheritance tax on the multi billionaires is absolutely necessary.
Who are those stupid people who think they will one day be able to join those ranks so they vote no on taxing the $billionaires?

Had a Heart Attack? Watch Out for PTSD
If you or a loved one has had a heart attack, then you probably already know that you should be on the lookout for depression, which often occurs after going through this serious health crisis.
But you should also watch out for another serious mental health problem—post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
PTSD?
The same problem that’s common among combat veterans and victims of sexual assault?
Yes, it’s true, according to a recent study by researchers at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.
A DAMAGED HEART CAN LEAD TO A TROUBLED MIND
Heart attacks and PTSD aren’t two health problems that you might normally link together. But the recent analysis showed that among people who had had a heart attack one month to 10 years earlier, 12% showed significant signs of PTSD and 4% met the full criteria for a PTSD diagnosis.
It’s important to diagnose and treat PTSD—especially in these cases—because the research also revealed that patients who had had heart attacks and developed significant signs of PTSD had twice the risk for recurrent heart attacks or death compared with people who had had heart attacks but did not have significant PTSD symptoms.
“What’s interesting,” said Donald Edmondson, PhD, assistant professor of behavioral medicine at the university and the study’s lead author, “is that the severity of the heart attack wasn’t associated with PTSD—it was each person’s own reaction to the heart attack that made the difference.”
While the study didn’t look at whether it’s possible to have PTSD after a heart attack without also having depression, Dr. Edmondson said that people who have PTSD usually have depression, too.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU HAVE PTSD?
It’s not unusual to feel stressed after you have a heart attack—after all, it’s a traumatic event. But how intensely you worry and how long you worry can determine whether or not you have PTSD, Dr. Edmondson said. His questions to ask yourself:
Do you avoid traveling far from your doctors and/or engaging in strenuous activity, such as running or having sex, even if you’ve been told it’s medically safe to do so, because you’re afraid that you might have another heart attack?
Do you have very clear memories of the most distressing aspects of your heart attack, and are you unable to make them go away?
Do you have vivid nightmares in which you relive the worst moments of your heart attack?
If the answer is yes to at least one of those questions and you’ve been feeling this way for at least one month, then ask your doctor to screen you for PTSD.
TOP TREATMENTS
Dr. Edmondson noted that there are two main treatments for PTSD—psychotherapy and/or drugs (particularly antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs).
Patients can try either or both—though most research shows that using a combination is the most powerful treatment.
Dr. Edmondson assured me that, while the duration of therapy depends on the severity of the condition, many patients are successfully treated after just two to four months.

Mitt Romney is a bishop in the Mormon religion. As such, he knows what is going on in his religion. Read Jon Krakauer’s, UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN, to learn why people like Robertson and Romney are of the same mind-set.
September 11th, 2012 at 7:34 pm
Social Butterfly, And when this (or any other) woman ends up in hospital – or worse – because her husband took Robertson’s beat her into submission advice, what will he say? Will he take any responsibility? Or will he just dismiss her injuries – she’s only a woman, after all.
September 11th, 2012 at 7:36 pm
Social Butterfly are you an atheist? God expects the wife to submit to her husband, if he is forced to deal with her disobedience to God. I think that is something a true God fearing man will do, even if it means smacking the bitch around.
I don’t think the government should be interfering in religious issues between a man and his wife.
Tom
September 11th, 2012 at 7:37 pm
Islam does not allow man to beat its wife. Please educate yourself before jumping into conclusion unless you like to show your ignorance.
September 11th, 2012 at 7:38 pm
I think the real reason he’s backing Romney is he wants Justice Dept to drop their racketeering, bribery and prostitution investigation. If convicted he stands to lose much more than $2 billion.
September 11th, 2012 at 7:39 pm
Mr Adelson may also get jail for his drug cartel money laundering At the Nevada Sands casino.
And this is the guy putting up money for a presidential campaign.
September 11th, 2012 at 7:39 pm
Oh good, let’s give him more money to promote prostitution at his casinos and bribe more foreign officials.
But ask him and he will tell you he is supportting Romney for the nation’s benefit not his won.
September 11th, 2012 at 7:40 pm
Didn’t the Bible preach us to Kill False Prophets
If a man still prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall say to him, “You shall not live, because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord.” When he prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall thrust him through. (Zechariah 13:3 NAB)
Too bad the religious don’t practice what their bible tells them…
September 11th, 2012 at 7:40 pm
So he’s basically tempting a man to do violence to his wife. Hmmm. Who you workin for Pat?
September 11th, 2012 at 7:42 pm
Notice the comments that pertain to Adelsons looks, with no substance. Can’t the Democrats put forth logical comments based on history or facts.
They consistently say the the Republicans lie and then rely on God ( B.O.) as their bases for facts. B.O. has never shied away from saying something in order to get votes, no matter the veracity.
September 11th, 2012 at 7:42 pm
Mitt Romney, the president of the United States of America! (crowd roaring)
September 11th, 2012 at 7:44 pm
“He also called the woman a “rebellious child” who doesn’t want to “submit to any authority.” However, since the Scripture doesn’t allow for divorce, Robertson urged the husband to “move to Saudi Arabia,”
not enough to convince you huh?
September 11th, 2012 at 7:46 pm
There you have Ladies. Submitt or be beaten.
Sounds like Robertson would still vote for that law that said a husband should not beat his wife with a stick thicker than his thumb. Unless you can see a better way forward.
September 11th, 2012 at 7:47 pm
He was just joking… Good grief people. Like you haven’t made muslim jokes before. Get over it.
September 11th, 2012 at 7:52 pm
I am a white man who has lived through 60 years of elections. Romney is running on the color of his skin. The ONLY reason most of my friends here in Florida are voting for him is because he is white.
I voted for McCain last election. After seeing the things this boy has done for our great nation, I am glad he won. I will hold my nose this time and vote for him.
I don’t believe that he is not a citizen or that he is a socialist. Neither do I care that white women are going to pursue black boys more if he gets re elected. I think that it is up to parents to make sure their daughters steer clear of blacks.
I just feel that this boy is taking the nation down the right track and I want to go to my Lord knowing that I left this country in capable hands.

Bill! Brokaw is a rancid, pompous, hollier than though bore. He is just another tiny dick white boy protecting his “entitlement status.” I never liked him and I like him even less the older and crustier he gets. He is a republican in independent clothing.
When Bill Maher tagged him for keeping the birther myth alive, I said Right on Bill.
=========================
Maher praised Matthews for going after Priebus. But he harshly criticized Brokaw for saying he thought Romney was displaying his “awkward sense of humor” rather than anything more sinister.
(Brokaw did say that Republicans should have stepped in when people started calling Obama a Muslim or un-American, but that “it comes the other way, by the way, from the Democrats to the Republicans as well.”)
Maher said this was “bullshit,” and that Brokaw was contributing to the continuation of birtherism:
How did it grow to the point where half of Republican primary voters believed it? It wasn’t just the silence of Republican leaders, it was the failure of people like Tom Brokaw to just dismiss it as racism from the beginning.
People like him are always championing “balance” over objectivity. They have to bring everything back to a discussion about how “both sides” are guilty, instead of doing his job as a referee.
If every single journalist just simply labeled birtherism what it obviously is — racism — the cancer wouldn’t have infected half the party. Maybe 25% or so, but most would be like, “Okay, this isn’t socially respectable.”

Thought a nasty campaign season couldn’t get any worse? Look no further than Buffalo, NY.
=====================
The ad, first reported by Politico, appeared in emails as two separate image attachments — apparently meant as flip sides of a political mailer — and accuses New York state Senator Mark Grisanti of exchanging his vote in favor of gay marriage for monetary gain.
One side of the ad reads:
How far will a politician go to get in your pant$?
For his Gay Marriage vote, Mark Grisanti received over $750,000. [The ad contains no evidence to substantiate this claim.]
Sometimes they’re political whore$.
The other side:
Make sure your son says, “Thank you, Mark Grisanti”
=====================
If you look at how the ad is presented, it’s pretty clear what they are implying. On the back, the picture that is there gives the impression that one man penetrating the other.
It is clear that by saying “Make sure you son says, Thank you, Mark Grisanti”, they are fueling the fear of most homophobes…the fear of taking it up the…..well, I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this one. This is politics at its absolute worst.
September 11th, 2012 at 8:14 pm
Totally agree with Bill. It’s the same mistake journalists have been making for years. If you are going to have a 10-minute segment about, say, global warming, and 90% of scientists say it’s happening and 10% say it isn’t, then you should have one of the 90% on for 9 minutes and the other guy on for one.
Same with letters to the editor. If you get 100 letters and 50 are pro and 50 are con, you publish one of each. However, if 75 are pro and 25 are con, you publish 3 pro and 1 con.
September 11th, 2012 at 8:16 pm
Bill Maher is right on, here. Walking that “thin line” of not wanting to offend those who are being blatantly racist… Tom Brokaw’s inability to call out foul on this outrageous issue… makes me lose respect for him. That same type of thing is what turned CNN turn into a joke.
September 11th, 2012 at 8:17 pm
Reporters should report the truth and not shy away from pointing out obvious falsehoods?
September 11th, 2012 at 8:18 pm
I reluctantly agree with Bill. Brokaw is guilt as charge. Now if we could get all the comedians to think before they charge ahead in their skits and dialogs from marginalizing serious issues we would all be better off.
Bill has made numerous references to the Birther movement himself. Its ok for him but not for Tom. Marginalizing reduces an offensive remark something less than offensive so its okay to say it because I can make a joke out of it. The comedians in the country have kept the movement alive and well.
September 11th, 2012 at 8:21 pm
Jack, I agree with you. This race is about race. Romney wouldn’t even be in the runnings if he wasn’t white.
My entire family is spilt along those lines. Most will lie and claim it isn’t about Obama’s color but two minutes into their rant you know it is about color.
I try to say very little to keep the family peace. I know that nothing I say will change their racism. I will quietly agree with them and vote Obama at the polls.

Joseph, Maher calls out birtherism, don’t twist things to fit your narrative.
September 11th, 2012 at 8:22 pm
I noticed that too when the episode happened. It looked to me that Brokaw wants to be considered “independent” and did not have courage to step up to something that he should have.
I would give him a pass though and see how he does next time. We have all had moments where we think we could have said something that we did not.
September 11th, 2012 at 8:23 pm
Yes, I see the logic: “Birtherism” MUST = racism because only white people have birth certificates…ah, now I get it.
September 11th, 2012 at 8:25 pm
Joe;
Let’s see Mitt Romney’s grandpa started a polygamist Mormon compound in Mexico but we never ever once questioned whether he could have potentially been born there.
And then “retroactively” became a us citizens since mitt romney is rich enough to possess time travel and retroactively due things from time to time.
Why don’t we Question that but we question it from a black man named Barack Hussein Obama who has a father from Kenya?
Perhaps it has nothing to do with the fact Obama has an extremely ethnic name and is a different skin color. But I think the connection is fair.
September 12th, 2012 at 1:55 am
As a gay man, there is nothing more discouraging and enraging that a “log Cabin Republican.” If they think they are shunned and the gunk of the bottom of my shoe now if on the very outside Romney somehow stole the Presidency, for me and MOST other LGBT people, they would be public enemy number one.
There is no excuse, I do not care what your philosophy is financially, there is no human reason to support a candidate like Romney if you are gay.
Save your arguments, you are a traitorous something with capital C, and we will never understand how you could support a candidate who doesn’t acknowledge you even have value.
Get some therapy, read a self help, just don’t think we will ever forgive you.
September 12th, 2012 at 1:58 am
I am a gay republican with a mind of my own, and take full pride that I don’t tow party lines. You on the other hand can’t see past the last Rachel Maddow Show to form an opinion of your own.
The fact is that the Republican Party has been hijacked by the Conservative wing of the party, and it is unfortunate. However, there are good people in the party who continue to fight for the true principles of the party.
Take Ron Paul who voted in support of the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Those who stand in-line with the current party are wrong.
However, you are no more right for supporting a party that supports you only when it is politically expedient. You can pass it off as “evolution” then pat the President on the back- I am not sliding down that slope.
September 12th, 2012 at 2:14 am
The weird thing is that most Log Cabin Republicans would be financially better off under President Obama than under Republican policies.
Only a small percentage have significant inheritances coming or make more than $250,000 per year. But they fall for the same story that many working class whites do.
But the loggers are willing to sell their right to be equal for the fictitious benefits of conservatism. They are a sad group.

LIberals thinking people of certain precisions need to fit into certain ways of thought…

Why is it that men feel more manly when they force a woman who would do anything to please them to allow another man to use them.
The correct verb is use not fuck because a woman can fuck a man, but that is her choice over making love to a man. When she is forced to submit to another man or woman to please the man she loves, she is being used.
I have been used for the last time by my lover. Actually what I’ve discovered from this blog Michelle is that he is not my lover because the only love in the relationship came from me. He was just a user.
He used my love for him to make him feel manly by abusing my desire to please him.
Today, I say goodbye to all those men forever. Thank you Michelle for opening my eyes.
Margaret.

Divided We Stand Under Obama’s Rule
There is a war on women in American politics. And on the working class. And on minorities. And on religious groups. It’s the war being waged by Barack Obama, our Divider-in-Chief.
Barack Obama was supposed to be a new kind of politician—one who stood above partisan politics, who would unite America and listen respectfully to opposition voices.
Instead, he’s proven to be a ruthless manipulator who cynically pits women against men, so-called rich against poor, young against old, blacks and Hispanics against whites, and people of faith against each other, all so he can slice and dice Americans to his own electoral advantage.
Kate Obenshain won’t let him get away with it, which is why she wrote Divider-in-Chief: The Fraud of Hope and Change, available today from Regnery Publishing.
Kate Obenshain is a hypocrite’s worst nightmare, ripping apart layers of lies and deceit to reveal Barack Obama’s deliberate, calculated betrayals of his campaign promises.
Sean Hannity says of Divider-in-Chief, “everyone needs to read this before November!” Congressman Allen West says, “If you care about our nation, its future, and what will be left for our children and grandchildren, you need to read this book.”
Find out what they’re all talking about. Order Kate Obenshain’s explosive new expose, Divider-in-Chief: The Fraud of Hope and Change today.

I will either vote for Obama or stay home. This man is soiling my party.

Since taking Congress in Jan 2007, Dems have DOUBLED our national debt with $8 trillion more bankrupting Dem deficits…
We are thereby far weaker…dangerously so..with a massive, greedy, bloated Federal Govt adding a $trillion+ more each year
September 12th, 2012 at 8:26 am
Whiteboy take your Anti-America rant and move to Iran, where they will make you a hero. And just try and disrespect the returning Afghanistan war Vets and tell them that the USA is “far weaker” for their valiant efforts fighting Al-Qaeda.
September 12th, 2012 at 8:36 am
I would like to apologize for the deaths of your American citizens in Libya. It must be especially terrible for you because of the help you gave us in our hour of need. You literally saved us from our tyrant and spared needless lost of lives for our capital city.
God bless you, America. You are a true friend of the people of the Middle East and the world.
I say God not Allah because God is God to all. These men here are not interested in the love God stands for.
They are but sick animals interested in only the power their concept of God gives them to treat their females like sheep so they can practice pedophilia and sexual slavery of them.
Any man who would marry a 6 year old child is sick and that goes for the bastard Muhammad.

“It’s disgraceful that the Obama Administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”
God forbid anyone should have any compassion for those who think terrorism is the only way out of their oppression. Obama took the stance that we should have taken many years ago. I’m amazed and impressed.

The ink wasn’t even dry on the announcement and this Yutz goes on TV to run his mouth!

Funny, how our fore fathers wrote the constitution on “hemp”. Also the country was not in debt when marijuana, cocaine and heroin were legal.
A lot of prostitutes would not prostitute if they had free access to their drug of choice. Thus slow the speed of STDs.
Like slavery, segregation and gay marriage, deep down in our hearts, we knew these practices were wrong, but politicians were too scared to say anything until they figured it was a popular vote.
This is where we are with illegal drugs.
In Switzerland, they give free heroin to addicts and have seen a 60% drop in drug related crimes. By the way Switzerland is not in debt.

Ralph, OTWs are tired of accepting your racism as something we just have to tolerate especially when members of your race are so quick to call any OTW racist when he/she points out the racist shit you do that the other non racist part of your race remains silent to.
You are one of those pieces of shit hypocrites. Jonathon, we have your back. Keep jumping on the white boy when he rears his racist head.

Jonathon I am a retired Marine Corps veteran, yes we are weaker due to our failed economic policies. Now get this clown a strong military and a strong defense requires funding. That is done ideally by producing and selling and not by borrowing. That is basic economics.

Please America, not all Libyans were involved in the killing of innocent american. Many of us me included came to the defense of the American Embassy.
We stood in front of the remnants of Gaddafi’s regime who we believe were responsible for the rocket attack. They are trying to use the insulting movie to spark unrest to punish America for helping us rid ourselves of this tyrant.
I implore you Michelle to tell your Americans that the vast majority of Libyans are grateful to America for her assistance in our time of need.

Why is all of Libya being held responsible for a few insane actors here in Libya? You don’t condemn all americans for the acts of your insanely violent actors

Romney has a lot of stones for criticizing Obama. All of the unrest in the Middle East was generated by Bush starting two wars there. Hey Romney, go raid some corporations.
September 12th, 2012 at 8:58 am
Libya and Egypt were failures for Obama. Both countries are now government by Islamic Exstremists as predicted would happen but the President didn’t listen and the liberal left who once supported both of these countries as the future of democracy in the Middle East are now crying for justice after these killings.
Obama’s weak response shows his lack of leadership and no one should be surprised that he has sympathy for these monsters.
The black bastard is a secret muslim. We need to kick his black ass out of our White House.

Romney’s statement,”It’s disgraceful that the Obama Administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.” was a disgraceful attempt to use incident to make political points.

Romney’s statement could have started firestorm of anger against America’s interest in the Middle East. This was clearly an incident to cause a rift between our two countries.
I am tired of death. I hope other americans are too and will wait for calmer minds to take control of this situation.

This is the statement made by a US Embassy without approval of the White House. It is this statement that Romney felt required immediate criticism of a sitting President during a the crisis.
This is the statement that Romney felt needed to be condemned while the Embassy that issued it was in jeopardy of imminent attack.
Is it possible to object to some of the sentiments? Yes. Does such condemnation advance US interests or protect our US servants and allies that were and are in harm’s way? No.
Is there any conceivable reason why this statement had to be issued in the midst of a crisis unfolding?
Absolutely not. Romney is not fit for office.
“The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.”

Want to prove your patriotism, Mr. Romney?
Release your tax returns.
And: have you been offered, and have you accepted, amnesty from the IRS?
September 12th, 2012 at 9:19 am
The family has not received the body of their loved one and you have a wanna to be President criticizes your husband’s decision to try to find a peaceful solution and saving lives of the people in the Embassy.
You can keep saying the name Obama, but Ambassador Stevens’ family knows that you are making critical statements about their loved one. Mitt Romney is lower than whales chitz.
Mitt you are not the President, you looked foolish speaking before the President, that is what I consider “disgraceful” and a total lack of respect for your country.

I’m now part of the generation where Democratic party owns Strong. It used to belong to the republican party because they were perceived as the party that knew how to conduct foreign policy and thus would keep us safe.
Now the dems have Obama and he has literally wrested that mantle from the republicans. This white girl is smiling all day long as her father and other male relatives wrestle with the pure ignorance of Romney.
Mom and I swap wry grins when dad opens up in an attempt to justify the ignorance of Romney. Spin it dad.
