In a normal election, a stagnant economy and global unrest would be pretty tricky things for an incumbent president to campaign with, but for Barack Obama they’re a walk in the park. Why? Because Mitt Romney keeps messing up all the freakin’ time.
On Tuesday night’s “Daily Show,” Jon Stewart joked, “Whatever his missteps are as a candidate, Barack Obama is surging in the polls because the closer we get to the election, the dumber Mitt Romney appears to be getting.”
He premiered a new segment called “Barack Obama Is the Luckiest Dude on the Planet” to explain the phenomenon.

Michelle, that was just too funny. It would be hilarious if not for the real fact that this guy could be elected President. Racism is so bad in this country that the majority of my race would be willing to put this idiot in charge rather than give the black guy a chance.

CMD – Center for Media and Democracy:
“Moyers & Company” ALEC Documentary Launches This Weekend
Bill Moyers will be examining the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) this weekend on his weekly television show “Moyers & Company.” The show entitled “The United States of ALEC” will highlight the work of the Madison-based Center for Media and Democracy and its many allies in the effort to expose ALEC’s inner workings.
Check out the preview here and the broadcast schedule here.
ALEC brings together major American corporations and right-wing legislators to craft and vote on “model” bills behind closed doors. These bills include extreme gun laws, like ratifying Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, as well as pre-approving union-busting legislation, Arizona style anti-immigrant legislation and voter suppression laws that have sparked lawsuits across the nation.
The bills are later introduced in state houses across the nation with no mention of their ALEC roots or the role global corporations had in voting on them or crafting them.
The organization’s agenda is so extreme that in the last few months, 40 major U.S. companies, including Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola, Kraft, and General Motors, have severed ties with ALEC.
Tune In!
“Moyers & Company” airs at different times in different parts of the country. Click here to check the schedule by entering your zip code and your service provider.

First Obama fan boys said he was nothing like Bush. Now all they do day in, day out is compare Obama’s term to Bush’s failures.
Obama just isn’t working.

Baggers accuse President Obama of not loving America but praise Mitt for stashing his money overseas.
What the … ?

If Obama wins, then americans are off to slaughter. A vote for Obama is a vote against America. Not saying Romney is a great candidate but I would rather have an C- in office rather an “F”

The best of America’s youth have been giving life and limb for years while Mitt and the Romnette’s have done all they can to drain the country’s revenue in order to force policy decisions which will significantly diminish the quality of life of those who can least afford it; a group which for the most part includes those families who have given their sons and daughters in the ultimate act of Patriotism.

The Obama recovery is worse than the recession.
September 27th, 2012 at 10:46 am
Let me be clear with my conservative friends here.
Nobody but right wing cons blame the President for the quagmire that Bush left for him, and most believe that he has done an excellent job in recovering from conservative policies that crashed the economy.
Oh and if you needed more clarification:

What substantive argument can Obama make for four years of presidential failure beside blaming his predecessor?

It is painfully clear, from the CONS total misunderstanding of economics, that Econ 101 should be a required course in EVERY high school in this country.
They clearly don’t understand the concept of a demand driven economy, and that an economy driven simply by investment income will NOT work for the majority in ANY country, and that NO country can continue on that path alone, as the Republicans want us to believe, or we will end up to be a Greece or Spain.
September 27th, 2012 at 10:51 am
Why any Native American would ever support any Republican is beyond me. At their core, Republicans are hateful, fearful racists, and ridicule anyone whom they think is different or “alien.” Brown’s gang is doing the same bloody-meat bullying and taunting that typifies and nourishes the KKK soul.

Speaking of_racism…is Romney still sporting that Oompa_Loompa makeup job?
It’s like he thought disguising himself as an orange would get Latinos to pick him.

I recently wrote a post on another blog about how many of us that are indeed descendents of the great Cherokee nation, through those that ended up in Oklahoma via the “Trail of Tears” don’t have more than our family history, told to us through the generations.
Records were not well kept by this part of the Cherokee Nation, through no fault of their own, due to the extreme circumstances of the “re-location” from the Southeast. The Cherokees were unceremoniously and Illegaly kicked out of their homes in the dead of winter with no time to grab possessions or even warm clothing or proper shoe wear.
Over half, died on the journey. Many didn’t make it all the way to Oklahoma. I don’t have official documentation, either, but I have heard the stories as have all of my many Oklahoma cousins.
I remember my father, the oldest of 10 children, telling me that the govt. wanted to give him land, as part of the retribution but his father, a non cherokee, said that “no son of mine is going to take anything from the government!”
Ironically, my father was a career soldier…. Believe me, my cousins and I are very diverse in appearance, as are most of us with mixed heritages. I hope THIS post makes it through, as the first one didn’t for reasons I don’t even pretend to understand.

September 27th, 2012 at 11:01 am
What you are witnessing is Karl Rove trying to do to Elizabeth Warren what he did to John Kerry in 2004.
September 27th, 2012 at 11:02 am
Accusations that Warrens’s Native American identification is false has little merit. If ones knows even a little about genetics, it is well know that a person’s phenotype (physical appearance), does not necessarily reflect his/her genotype(genetic constitution)!! And if you do not understand what I am saying—look it up!!! Bottom line you cannot judge a book by its cover!
September 27th, 2012 at 11:03 am
Toby, Reagan used a teleprompter more frequently than Obama has. Whatever in the world you’re trying to say, it applies to Reagan.

Toby, he should have used the “good teleprompters” that republicans use?

But then again, it wouldn’t be the first time a republican didn’t listen or just decided to alter what President Obama said to fit his narrative.

Isn’t disrespecting a regular way to win in politics? I think it is despicable but American Indians need to get tougher skinned. Everyone gets picked on one time or another it is life and you can waste your time whining or just get over it.

Harry Reid: “Romney hasn’t paid any taxes for 10 years” “I don’t need to back up that statement. I’m a liberal…”"
Elizabeth Warren: “I’m a native American” “I don’t need to have any documents to support my claim. I’m a liberal…”
The list goes on and on. Why do liberals feel they can make any claim they want without any documentation? Could it be that the media allows it?
September 27th, 2012 at 11:21 am
Aaron, typical white boy statement to justify disrespecting OTWs. But oh how thin are your skins when you suspect “reverse discrimination” is occurring.
Remember when Obama mentioned how you hicks love your guns, your race tried to drum him out of the race.
So, till you can practice what you preach, shut your pie hole.

You people are just showing your ignorance. Ask anyone in Oklahoma and they will tell you there are many of us with Cherokee heritage and no documentation.
September 27th, 2012 at 11:24 am
Burt, You’ve got one of them backwards. It is Scott Brown who is making the specious attacks against Elizabeth Warren.
He is the one making the claims, so he needs to provide the evidence. Otherwise it’s a specious attack. Harry Reid is just using the tactic. I’m not sure how I feel about it. It’s a dirty trick.
But after watching Senator Kerry get attacked so badly that they named the trick “swiftboating”, I might be willing to say trading low blows needs to happen until the Republicans stop doing it.

I actually feel sorry for the Republican Party. They have scraped the bottom of every barrel and a guy named Mitt is the best they could do. He is not a good candidate at all.
Every time he opens his mouth he his foot falls out of it first. I am glad to see that people are taking offense to what he said and I am glad that somebody had the guts to put it out there.
Romney is trying to pretty it up and claim this and that but when you tell 47% of America’s citizens that you don’t care about them you are going to have to suffer the consequences. Things can still change between now and the election, but I know die-hard Republicans who do not like Romney at all.
September 27th, 2012 at 11:41 am
“Still another danger is represented by those who, paying lip service to democracy and the common welfare, in their insatiable greed for money and the power which money gives, do not hesitate surreptitiously to evade the laws designed to safeguard the public from monopolistic extortion.
Their final objective toward which all their deceit is directed is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection.
They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution
They are patriotic in time of war because it is to their interest to be so, but in time of peace they follow power and the dollar wherever they may lead.”

What Romney said on the Boca Raton videotape is the way all Republicans feel. Most of the Republicans (not all) have kept such disdain for us to themselves.
Even they knew that such sentiments would reveal what they are, a selfish, mean-spirited group of people who want to enrich themselves on the backs of the disenfranchised.
We all suspected what the really wealthy thought of us, but the proof on the videotape is breath-taking.
September 27th, 2012 at 11:43 am
I would be interested to know what % of the 47% vote republicans.
September 27th, 2012 at 11:44 am
Romney is betting on the good sense of the voter to vote for him, Obama is depending on his sheep to vote for him.
September 27th, 2012 at 11:46 am
Jacob, I’m wondering what percent of the 33% that reacted favorably to that 47% speech by Romney actually depend on government subsidies themselves!!
September 27th, 2012 at 11:48 am
Actually “the engineer” Romney and the rest of the Right are betting on republican voter suppression tactics to win the day.
Please Michelle if you can do anything with Madaline like you did in Obama’s first election, now is about time to get started.

What’s really disturbing is the possibility that he may not have thought that “little remark” would hurt him …
September 27th, 2012 at 12:02 pm
The problem Romney has in withdrawal of false advertisement about Obama is if done, he may not have any ads running. If he ceases verbal reinforcement of the popular Tea Party lies about Obama, he may have nothing to say. A quiet Romney would have a better chance against Obama, but Mitt’s strategy is for the American people to see and hear more of him. What ever is the best strategy for his election, he appears to do the opposite.
If fates intervene and he is elected president, perhaps the best policy for Congress and the American people is to move in the opposite direction from anything President Romney proposes. Could be called The Tailfeathers Doctrine.

In 1999, Republicans replaced the successful Glass–Steagall Act with the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act – a Wall Street engineered bill that inhibited transparency and eased oversight scrutiny directed at regulating transaction activity between venture capitalists and commercial banks.
To protect workers from slash-and-burn entities like Bain – and fix accountability gaps created by Gramm–Leach–Bliley, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act was passed. Before Sarbanes-Oxley, however, and due to vague and ambiguous wording, lax or perfunctory oversight and self-serving exemptions built into Gramm–Leach–Bliley, commercial banks were allowed to cozy up with predatory capitalists and gamble with depositors’ money, an unholy alliance that eventually led to monetary instability, calamity on Wall Street, bank failures, the loss of 14 million jobs, home foreclosures, record deficits and massive unemployment.
Spurred by generous campaign donations from lobbyists, money changers, and predatory capitalists, Mitt, Eric, Mitch, and Ryan are pushing to repeal Sarbanes-Oxley, a move that would deepen our recession and further destabilize America.
After all, McConnell’s goal is to destroy Obama, even if it means destroying America in the process.

The Obama Stimulus, which Paul Ryan opposed in lieu of supporting the Bush Bailout of Wall Street, cut middleclass taxes by roughly $4,600, increased social security and veteran pension benefits, increased the college tuition tax credit by $2,500, gave a tax credit of $8,000 to first time home buyers, provided greater access to the child tax credit for the working poor, expanded the earned-income tax credit to families with three children, authorized $17 billion in renewable energy tax cuts, and provided $24 billion to subsidize 65% of COBRA premiums for up to 9 months for laid off workers.
Furthermore, and unlike the Bush Bailout, the Obama Stimulus provided $54 billion to “red and blue” states to help pay for teacher salaries and essential educational programs, $21 billion for school facility construction, $6 billion for clean water projects, $46 billion for transportation and mass transit projects, $4 billion for broadband infrastructure to make small businesses in rural areas more competitive, $17 billion in tax credits for small businesses hiring veterans, $17 billion to boost Pell Grants, $13 billion for Head Start, $12 billion for special education programs, and $8 billion in tax deductions to small businesses for machinery and equipment.
The Bush Bailout shored up Wall Street, parasitic corporations, greed-driven vulture capitalists, and too big to fail banks, while the Obama Stimulus shored up middleclass families and small businesses.
And now the Romney/Ryan Ticket would like to return America to the disastrous economic policies of the failed Bush Administration, which led to the loss of 15 million jobs, 2 million small businesses failures, and 900,000 home foreclosures, all while Wall Street speculators drove up the cost of gasoline and millionaires received tax cuts totaling $5.2 trillion.

Limbaugh says the reason the average man’s penis has lost size over the last 50 years is “feminazis.”
==============================
For whatever reason, Rush Limbaugh decided to discuss a study about male genitalia on his Friday radio show.
According to Rush, the study, completed by researchers in Italy, found that the size of male genitalia has decreased over the past fifty years.
“The study’s leaders claim to have bona fide research that says the average size of a penis is roughly 10 percent smaller than it was 50 years ago. And the researchers say air pollution is why,” Limbaugh said.
Limbaugh said that he did not believe that air pollution and global warming could have such an impact. “I don’t buy this. I think it’s feminism. I think if it’s tied to the last 50 years, the average size of a member is 10 percent smaller … it has to be the feminazis,” Limbaugh said.
==========================
See most men can’t take responsibility for anything. I said most. My honey, Harris takes complete responsibility for his 9 splendid inches.
This “feminazis” agrees.

As Mitt sinks in the polls, Karl Rove is expected to shift his money into a Republican Senate takeover. And we now believe one single seat could cost us the Senate majority.
We need Elizabeth Warren to win in Massachusetts, Claire McCaskill to defeat Todd “legitimate rape” Akin in Missouri, and Tammy Baldwin to win in Wisconsin. And each race is polling within the margin of error.
The final quarterly FEC deadline hits in 72 hours—time is running out. Can you give $50 immediately? The risk is so great that for the next 72 hours ONLY, a group of Democratic Senators will match your gift 3-to-1.
We watched as House Republicans voted to defund Planned Parenthood. We saw them vote to repeal Obamacare not once, not twice, but 33 times! If the Senate falls into Republican hands too, there will be nothing stopping them from enacting their extreme agenda.
72 hours left. Please give here and we’ll triple match your gift >> http://dscc.org/72-hours
Thanks for your help,
Sen. Barbara Boxer

Michelle, here in in Ohio I am a student and the republicans are organized to prevent students from voting. We are having to fight just to cast our vote. They have teaparty creeps signing petitions challenging our right to vote because we didn’t list our dorm room numbers.
They only have two booths in voting areas that have 10s of thousands of voters making it so that the minimum wait time is about 10 hours.
Go to the white areas or areas that usually go republican and the have a dozen booths or more. People are no where to be seen because there is no waiting.
This is pure evil.

The topics for the first presidential debate on October 3rd were just announced – and Medicare and Social Security are nowhere to be found.
Frankly, I’m shocked. The debate will be focused on the economy – and we both know that any real economic discussion simply must include the future of these critical programs.
There’s still time for moderator Jim Lehrer to include questions about Medicare and Social Security in this important debate, but we have to act fast.
Tell debate moderator Jim Lehrer and the Commission on Presidential Debates to include questions about Medicare and Social Security in the first presidential debate.
Millions of Americans depend on these programs for their financial security. They count on Medicare and Social Security to make ends meet, and to access affordable healthcare. And they expect their benefits to be there for them for years to come.
You’ve waited long enough to hear President Obama and Governor Romney detail exactly how they plan to keep Medicare and Social Security strong for today’s seniors and for future generations. You deserve to hear them explain those plans in their own words.
But it’s up to Jim Lehrer to ask these critical questions.
Tell debate moderator Jim Lehrer and the Commission on Presidential Debates to include questions on Medicare and Social Security in the first presidential debate.
Thanks for speaking out – your voice makes a difference.
Sincerely,
Fred Griesbach

Read Guillermo Del Toro’s vampire trilogy. The first book is called The Strain. Mean, vicious vampires through and through!

Michelle, I was interested in your blog until I heard that practically all of the males on your blog were portrayed as often violent misogynists. In other words, another narrative that presents men in terms with little or no redeeming value, as well as promote more of man/bad/villain, woman/good/virtuous paradigm.
Why read your blog, just watch Lifetime or Oxygen for man- bashing content. And since men are the one dimensional abuses monsters so popular in books and blogs like yours, I am sure it will appeal to a large readership unwilling to accept men can be more than monsters and women more than saints.

Ann Coulter said blacks were only “given” civil rights because we “owed” it to them to make up for slavery and Jim Crow laws. She uses this concept to bolster her argument that others (gays, women, etc.) aren’t “owed” civil rights because they were not enslaved.
This woman’s reasoning skills are as deep as a kiddie pool. She just can’t grasp that no matter what a person’s color, gender, or sexual orientation, we are all endowed by our creator with inalienable rights that are not subject to her approval or that of any particular government.
There is no entity on this earth with the authority to give or take away our human right to equality, justice, or freedom. When we fight for our rights, we are not fighting to obtain these rights, we are fighting to have our God-given rights respected and reflected in our creation of a civil society. Obviously something Coulter has no desire to achieve.

Tom, it doesn’t take a literate male to see that men are victimizing women violently all over the world. I live outside the USA, but even where I am I get news showing how the republican party which is dominated by white men has spent 80% of its legislative time enacting laws that restrict a woman’s right to equality and to self determination concerning her body.
If you are insensitive to “legitimate rape,” no abortions in the case of rape or incest and even if the life of the woman is threaten by the birth.
It is you men who continue to trade with Middle East countries that enslave their female population. Yet, you expect women to help you boycott nations that want to develop nuclear weapons.
Well for your information being forced to live at the leisure of a man’s sexual desire with no rights as a human being to exist without the permission of a man amounts to “men with no redeeming values,” yes, “monsters.”
The reason the plight of women hasn’t gotten any better is that men like you want to focus attention on you getting your feelings hurt because we women are calling you names. Never mind the fact that we women are suffering from real physical violence at the hands of men every second of every day.
You sir have just displayed yet another misandric perception of male character.

If you are insensitive to “legitimate rape,” no abortions in the case of rape or incest and even if the life of the woman is threaten by the birth, then I expect what I am hearing from you.
If you are not, then, do something to show that you are not. Complaining about getting your feelings hurt sounds like Rush Limbaugh(we didn’t make that asshole up) complaining about his tiny dick by claiming it is a “feminazis’s” fault.

As usual, these things don’t come as a surprise. There are undoubtedly soldiers who join the military with heroic intentions, but you must keep in mind that such an environment appeals to other personality types as well; namely people who feel powerless in their own lives and see military strength/power/violence as a means to combat that feeling.
Generally, guys like that don’t actually do well in the military because they also tend to have a severe problem with authority. In truth, many many mass murderers and serial killers have military backgrounds (usually with a dishonorable discharge, which is why it so rarely comes up unless you delve into their history… the military wants nothing to do with them).
Had Julian Knight decided to go a different route, he could have easily garnered like-minded followers as well. It’s not at all shocking to see this in the military, and I wish more people would understand this without getting all offended that anyone dare impune the good name of a soldier, so we could weed out these guys BEFORE the murders start.

Tom, I agree with Ibbie(love the name). Men who are so anti-woman have junk must be the size of a number 2 pencil.
So how’s your junk?

I just want to know if Rush has been screened for brain tumors?
September 27th, 2012 at 7:42 pm
Tom, consider Todd Akin. Men like you were against what he said you said, but when it appeared that he could lose a republican seat, they rallied behind him.
Now the republican party is fully supporting him. In Missouri they are so racists that they don’t care what Akin says as long as he is going to stop Obama from having a filibuster proof Senate.

In Rush’s case I think they just found tumors only… no brain.
September 27th, 2012 at 7:44 pm
Rush, you have to be able to see your junk to tell if it’s shrunk. A bit too much belly for that.
September 27th, 2012 at 7:45 pm
I would be willing to bet a substantial amount of money that all the Rush-basing comments on this page come from people who have never taken the time to actually listen to a broadcast of the Rush Limbaugh show.
Close-mindedness in this country is most rampant among the people who “claim” to be the most open-minded. Listening to the commentary of others about a person and then forming your opinion is, well, stupid; especially when you can listen for yourself for 3 hours, any day of the week and form your own conclusions.
If you don’t do this then you have no right to comment as though you actually know what you’re talking about – you have no credibility.

Howie can suck my fucking dick. I hope he gags on it.

Howie, pay no attention to the envious. Egyptian women have made many friends from Israel because of you. We believe that the time will come when we may be able to call on our sisters to help us help other arab women of the Middle East.
You have played a pivotal role in the relationship between the two cultures.

Howie:
What Ebe has said is true. We have made many new friends because of you. I do not wish to name countries for obvious reasons.
Ladies of the Middle East:
I would like to remind you who may feel that you should say something to Howie to show your feelings, not to. You are probably being manipulated to respond so you can be tracked.
Supporters of Israel:
Please read President Obama’s speech to the UN. I will quote an article from Huffington Post: Especially in light of a new heavy-handed $6.5 million ad campaign by the Republican Jewish Coalition targeted at the Jewish communities in South Florida, Ohio and Nevada, all voters who are concerned about President Obama’s position on Iran or continued U.S. support for Israel should — no, must — read the address he delivered this Tuesday to the United Nations General Assembly.
According to a report in today’s New York Times, the ad campaign mischaracterizes President Obama’s record, alleging that he has gone soft on Iran and that his administration does not provide sufficient military support to Israel.
First, Iran. The president’s unambiguous declaration in his UN speech that he will not allow Iran to become a nuclear power should once and for all rebut the charges that that the president is not tough enough with the Tehran government or that his policies somehow “project American weakness.”
===========================
It is pathetic that members in your country would risk war in the Middle East to advance their political desires.

Many authorities believe that Israel has about 200 nuclear weapons, including some on submarines. Why is that OK?
With that kind of arsenal, how could they be afraid of anybody?
September 28th, 2012 at 6:54 am
Barack Obama has done a LOT for Israel (to the point where even high-influence members of Israel have said he’s done more than a lot of other presidents). Not only that, he’s been doing more for the US along with Israel. He’s managed the feat of pulling off a good counterbalance. Giving him four more years will help the US and keep Israel looking good.
For all Mitt would do for Israel, the US would get the shaft. Mitt has made REALLY vague statements about the United States recovery to the point where one has to wonder if he even HAS a plan for recovery. In all likelihood, he would just make worse Reaganomics.
In the end, the important matter is not so much which candidate is best for Israel, it’s who is best for the United States. Obama has busted his rear for both countries, even with vengeful doubters and obstructionists, and if you want a candidate who cares for Israel, but also cares for his own country, vote Obama.
Romney would be a great ally of Israel, but we’re not electing a “President of Israel”. Plus, between him and Adelson, the amount of contempt for the United States (and in Adelson’s case, not being able to wear an Israeli uniform) means for all their good for Israel, they don’t give a darn about the US. That should say everything.
September 28th, 2012 at 7:06 am
Howie here in Iran we women have made contact with women of Israel. We hope that your or their country will not bomb us though we understand the fear our men have caused in the world.
Until the world can force Middle Eastern men to stop using religion as an excuse to force their will upon others, the violence towards muslin women and other peoples of the world will never stop.
Michelle, I read your blog as often as I can. I see the comments from men from all over the world they refuse to accept their attempts to control others(men and women) for their own selfish reasons.
The guileful use these selfish men, praying on their religious beliefs, patriotism, bigotry, etc to motivate them to do their bidding. Their reward is control over their female citizens and a smug belief that theirs is a moral stance.
The result is that the rich and the powerful get gain at the expense of us all. Even the mother earth suffers.

Keep Israel out of us politics.
September 28th, 2012 at 7:08 am
The candidates for the American Presidency should be debating what is best for American, not who will give more to Israel.
The Billions we give to Israel should be used to build America.
September 28th, 2012 at 7:09 am
Does every person running for President in every election of the USA really have to reaffirm his support for Israel to get the Jewish American vote ? There are far more Italians in this country voting and I never hear a President say we have to support Italy to get the Italian American vote.
Or for that matter the German American vote, or the Norwegian American vote, or the Brazilian American vote, or the Swedish American vote……. get the picture? Israel really has us where they want us…….hijacked.
September 28th, 2012 at 7:10 am
What President Obama’s speech and Mr. Rosensaft’s editorial failed to mention was the Palestinians’ right to their own state. While the US purportedly supports this, Israel has absolutely no interest in this.
This conflict is about land and water, As time slowly passes, Israelis continue to chip away at what might have been a viable state for Palestinians. The argument that a Jewish state has some inherent ‘right’ to this land is as ludicrous as Italy’s claim to the British Isles.
This was a political solution that grew from mostly European shame over the abysmal treatment of Jewish people during WWII and meshed with Herzl’s work a half century before to establish a Jewish home state.
The US should have a balanced approach supporting Israel’s right to exist in the face of hostile Muslim states, but it should also push Israel to free the Palestinans and permit them to have a self-governing home land.
Of all people, Jewish people should appreciate the Palestinians’ situation. Finally, we in the US must avoid equating all views that are contrary to Israeli official policy as anti-Semitism.

James, to be fair. None of the places you mentioned are in direct threat from a nuclear Iran. Nor have they been threatened to be annihilated by a nuclear Iran. Just to try to be fair…

Frankly, even we here in Israel know that Bibi Netanyahu is the problem. He has disrespected your President in public with his rants. He has disrespected your country’s political traditions by openly meeting with and taking sides with the republican candidate in an attempt to manipulate America’s foreign policy towards the Middle East.
In another president that may have worked but we here in Israel fear that President Obama is of a different character. He is not one easily moved from his convictions. We will deal with Netanyahu come election time for him.
I am a dual citizen. I move to and from Israel often. I vote in both elections. Every presidential administration for 50 years has treated Israel as an ally, and Obama is no different.
There’s not a shred of daylight between the plans of the Republicans or Democrats when it comes to Israel’s security, and you should have a listen to what is said about Bibi Netanyahu in Israel itself. People are afraid of him.
The current administration wants to solve mid-east tensions as peacefully as possible, and though the radical, violent extremists of the region get all the hot press, there are many in the region who are looking for peace and stability as well.
Sanctions against Iran are working, and the hope is that they will create internal uprisings that will create revolutionary and permanent change there. For the U.S., it is absolutely in our interest to stoke those sorts of solutions than to further stoke the extremism that results from our mideast military presence and perceived aggression.
We have no money left, we have a volunteer military, and unless you think a military draft is feasible, we can’t fight any more wars unless they’re defensible because all other means have failed. When those means have failed, we’ll have a united world behind us, as we did in the first Persian Gulf War under Bush 41 and did not in the misguided invasion of Iraq under Bush 43.
As for my beloved Israel. President Obama knows that the arabs of the Middle East are difficult to get along with. They are mostly ignorant, illiterate, immature tools of those who use religion to motivate them to do their will.
He has seen how they repay kindness. The deaths of our people at the hands of those we have help and are helping is evident. Arab men see only their own needs and wants. Even here you can see that one half of the arab world is forced into slavery and degradation by the male half in the name of religion.
Yes, we have a political party that would do the same to our women and OTWs, including us jews, if they could muster the political will, but that will NEVER happen in America while it is a reality in the Middle East, today.
President Obama understands that the “obvious” solution of treating the Palestinians with respect and giving them total autonomy who not be practical until Israel can work out a way to protect itself from attack by those Palestinians as soon as they have the power to arm themselves as a sovereign nation.
Look around you at the way the arabs repay kindness. As soon as someone tells the ignorant fools that their god says this or that they go ape shit. They are ignorant selfish men who can’t see the plight of their mothers, sisters, daughters or any females in their presence.
Who would trust dispassionate men like that armed near their borders? Those of you in America who feel for the plight of the Palestinians, should remember how muslims repaid your kindness in Libya, Egypt, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
Don’t ask a country as small as Israel to risk their safety on the belief that by giving muslims an autonomous state and respecting their borders will bring peace. If they turn on Israel as they have turned on their american friends, Israel cannot pack up and go home. We are home!

Michelle, I am a Nahuatl immigrant from Mexico. I have been an American for 31 years. The American public ought to know that because collectively we have already lived out the tragedy of going to war for the wrong reasons.
We had leaders who were influenced by their greed, racism, by religious imagery, by duplicitous Iraqi con men, by scheming Zionists and ideologically driven neo-cons, than anything vaguely resembling hard evidence to do something horrible. That “something horrible” cost the lives of up to a million human beings.
So let us get this straight. It seems there are two worlds. The real world of facts and evidence and the unreal world of fantasy. Our political leaders and their advisers are, apparently, stuck in the unreal one. Their words, and their policies, are built on the assumptions of this fantasy world. They go to war and kill people based on beliefs that are demonstrably false.
Most of the poor Americans are stuck in their own local niches and beyond them they do not know what is real or unreal.
So we rely on others to tell us what to believe. Who are the others?
