Go Vote! Go Obama!

Update: 4:52 PM

Readers: If you have not voted yet, please do not give up. If you got to the polls before they closed do not leave until you have voted. You have the right to stand and wait in line until you vote. Don’t give up – Hang in there! Your vote counts! Every vote counts! If you have friends that you know are standing in line, call them and tell them to stay! – support them – bring them coffee!

Please do not let anyone tell you that the polls are closed, or the lie that “voting is tomorrow” (Yes, many people are being told this!), or any other excuse that does not allow you your right to vote. Many voters are being suppressed and lied to. If you have any problems call the election protection hotline: 1-866-our-vote (687-8683)

Good morning!

Well, today is the day. What more can I say? “Are you fired up?! Yes!! Go out and vote! Go Obama!”

President Obama’s last campaign speech, last night moved me to tears –  as it did many Americans who shared his emotions. If you didn’t see it, here’s an inspiring clip, Click here.

To my local readers living in California: Here are the Dems picks for the election today:

CDP Slate Card

Surprisingly, I haven’t blogged anything on Prop 37 but, I feel just as strongly about it as I did when I fought for “Yes on Prop 2″ for the farm animals, 4 years ago.

Vote Yes on Prop 37. We’ve talked about food and food quality, and the lack of it, quite often here. We’ve talked about the power of the monster Monsanto. Well, now’s our chance…now we can demand to know what we’re eating. We have the right to know what’s in our food, and if it’s GMO,(Genetically Modified Organisms), I WANT TO KNOW.

It seems that what I said yesterday, hinted that I had more to say today…

A true story everyone should know

HBO released the movie “Iron Jawed Angels” on video and DVD. It is a true story everyone should know.
This is the story of our mothers and grandmothers who lived only 90 years ago.
Remember, it was not until 1920 that women were granted the right to go to the polls and vote.
The women were innocent and defenseless, but they were jailed nonetheless for picketing the White House, carrying signs asking for the vote. And by the end of the night, they were barely alive. Forty prison guards wielding clubs and their warden’s blessing went on a rampage against the 33 women wrongly convicted of “obstructing sidewalk traffic.”
Lucy Burns

They beat Lucy Burns, chained her hands to the cell bars above her head and left her hanging for the night, bleeding and gasping for air.

Dora Lewis

They hurled Dora Lewis into a dark cell, smashed her head against an iron bed and knocked her out cold. Her cell mate, Alice Cosu, thought Lewis was dead and suffered a heart attack. Additional affidavits describe the guards grabbing, dragging, beating, choking, slamming, pinching, twisting and kicking the women.
Thus unfolded the “Night of Terror” on November 15, 1917, when the warden at the Occoquan Workhouse in Virginia ordered his guards to teach a lesson to the suffragists imprisoned there because they dared to picket Woodrow Wilson’s White House for the right to vote. For weeks, the women’s only water came from an open pail. Their food — all of it colorless slop — was infested with worms.

Alice Paul

When one of the leaders, Alice Paul, embarked on a hunger strike, they tied her to a chair, forced a tube down her throat and poured liquid into her until she vomited. She was tortured like this for weeks until word was smuggled out to the press.

Mrs. Pauline Adams in the prison garb she wore while serving a 60-day sentence.

Last week, I went to a sparsely attended screening of HBO’s movie “Iron Jawed Angels.” It is a graphic depiction of the battle these women waged so that I could pull the curtain at the polling booth and have my say. I am ashamed to say I needed the reminder.

Miss Edith Ainge of Jamestown, New York

All these years later, voter registration is still my passion. But the actual act of voting had become less personal for me, more rote. Frankly, voting often felt more like an obligation than a privilege. Sometimes it was inconvenient.

Berte Arnold, CSU graduate

My friend Wendy, who is my age and studied women’s history, saw the HBO movie, too. When she stopped by my desk to talk about it, she looked angry. She was — with herself. “One thought kept coming back to me as I watched that movie,” she said. “What would those women think of the way I use, or don’t use, my right to vote? All of us take it for granted now, not just younger women, but those of us who did seek to learn.” The right to vote, she said, had become valuable to her “all over again.”
HBO released the movie on video and DVD. I wish all history, social studies and government teachers would include the movie in their curriculum. I want it shown on Bunco/Bingo night, too, and anywhere else women gather. I realize this isn’t our usual idea of socializing, but we are not voting in the numbers that we should be, and I think a little shock therapy is in order.

Conferring over ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution at National Women’s Party headquarters, Jackson Place, Washington, D.C.
Left to right: Mrs. Lawrence Lewis, Mrs. Abby Scott Baker, Anita Pollitzer, Alice Paul, Florence Boeckel, Mabel Vernon (standing, right)

It is jarring to watch Woodrow Wilson and his cronies try to persuade a psychiatrist to declare Alice Paul insane so that she could be permanently institutionalized. And it is inspiring to watch the doctor refuse. Alice Paul was strong, he said, and brave. That didn’t make her crazy. The doctor admonished the men, “Courage in women is often mistaken for insanity.”
Please, if you are so inclined, share this with all the women you know. We need to get out and vote and use this right that was fought so hard for by these very courageous women. Whether you vote democratic, republican or independent party, remember to vote.

Helena Hill Weed, Norwalk, Conn. Serving 3-day sentence in D.C. prison for carrying banner, “Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

So, refresh my memory. Some women won’t vote this year because why, exactly?
-We have carpool duties?
-We have to get to work?
-Our vote doesn’t matter?
-No one to vote for?
-It’s raining?
-I’m so busy… I’ve got so much on my plate!

Shame on you. Read again what these women went through for you! Was all that suffering for nothing?
And for you men out there, do not forget why this country was founded. The right to vote was hard fought for. So, please do not take it for granted. Get out and vote!

Girls: Oh, how I wish those were the only excuses. But today…no excuses, girls. These women fought and suffered so that we could have a voice today. I am moved by their commitment and moved by what the power of women coming together can do.

You know what to do. Exercise your right. Make the women who fought for our right proud of all of us today. Your vote mattersevery vote matters. As our beloved president Obama says,  we’ve got the power. And considering we are the majority of the vote, we certainly do. Are you fired up? Let’s do it.

Juanita: As I said the other day, if we do our  part, Madaline will do hers.

Helen: Thank you. Don’t give up okay? No excuses.

Caroline: So cool!

Ruth,SM: I did love it! Thank you for posting. I welcomed the humor. My love to you and yours.

Margaret: Yippie! Get out the vote!

Zen Lill: Thank you! I HOPE all is good with you and Lily…sending love.

Peace, Love…and GO OBAMA!

    GOOD MORNING TO EVERYONE!

The day is finally here. Early this morning, the fine folks at Dixville Notch, NH were the first people to cast their ballot. In a historical first, the 10 people split the vote. Five votes for President Obama and five votes for Mitt Romney. A sign of a long night? Probably.

While speaking with some family and friends early this morning in southwestern Pennsylvania, they are experiencing massive delays and lines at the polling places. Some precincts, where at 7 a.m. only two or three folks would be in line normally, have 15-20 folks waiting. Others of you on Twitter are sharing the same stories around the country. Please e-mail me editors(at)humanevents.com your voting stories. How long are the lines? Any shenanigans? Let us know and I’ll make sure to tweet them out and share them on Facebook.

Make sure to be on HumanEvents.com throughout the day and evening in our election headquarters, where we will have LIVE returns from every House, Senate, and Governor race, not to mention the county-by-county returns for every state. You don’t want to miss it.

Our stories for this morning are below.

Talk to you all tomorrow when we the world will be a lot different,

    – Adam Tragone, Managing Editor

  2. Mardur Says:

Privatize Romney. No public employment for YOU, Mitt!

  3. Zen Lill Says:

Thanks to all of you that are waiting in long lines to do your civic duty (and thanks, Misch, for the reminder), I lucked out, not one person in line at 10AM, mid-morning/day is best time if you have an option.
Luv, Zen Lill – be back for the coverage!

  4. Social Butterfly Says:

As was reported here, it’s really happen. Romney is stealing votes and some people have it on video!

  5. Madaline Says:

    Sir:

I am on it. I will give you Florida, they are trying to steal it. Fourteen machines are rigged to count Romney. Virginia has 19 machines that were rigged to give republican votes no matter what.

We have intercepted most of these. But the steal rate in Virginia is hyped because they are not using electronics to steal the vote. It doesn’t matter what ticket you punch you get Romney. We have plans.

    Madaline

  6. Madaline Says:

Sir, that should read they are NOW using electronics to steal the vote. The software they are using has random check built into it. Like the slot machines in Las Vegas they have a pre programmed win percent plugged in.

    Madaline

  7. Madaline Says:

There is so much cheating that I think I will end this in the next hour.

  8. Ruth,SM Says:

Thanks Michelle. Kess Madaline for me. The country owes you big time.

  9. Ruth,SM Says:

    Ellen, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You called it Michelle.

    Congratulations President Obama.

  10. Daniel Says:

Michelle, you are not to be denied.

    Congratulations America!!!!!!!

  11. Irene Says:

Michelle, you think the romneys and their money boys have learned not to fuck with you.

Now to listen to the ass concede.

  12. Hsdes Says:

  13. Janet Says:

Michelle you called it. Obama won by one hundred electoral votes. He won in a landslide.

  14. Kenny Says:

Maryland joined Maine in making history on Election Night, affirming gay marriage by a popular vote.

  15. Matt Says:

We gave everything we had to this election”…….. except your tax returns!

  16. Gloria Says:

All my female republican pals who made it their mission to get on your blog “loud and often,” now are calling me and saying, “Who is that woman? How does she do what she say she will?

I smile and say. She’s an alien.

I frist learned about you from my daughter’s first black friend. She told me to check out the white girl who had the personality of “a bad ass ghetto bitch.” I said “Young lady that language is not used in my house.”

She said it isn’t a bad thing to be a bitch. But okay I’ll just say she is the bomb. My daughter explained to me that it meant that you were unparalleled when it comes to women who are comfortable in their own skin and fearless when facing the trails and tribulations men put women through.

She also pointed out to that the term “ghetto” meant an environment of constant stress due to dedication by others to keep you from being successful. I must confess, I have learned a lot from my daughter’s new friend.

But nothing like I have from your blog. I have been reading you for three years now. You are a bad ass bitch and The Bomb.

    Gloria

  17. Anonymous Says:

New Hampshire has an all woman leadership. And the only woman democratic governor in the country.

  18. Leroy Says:

You dems can gloat, but a lot of Democrats are going to lose their jobs over the next four years.

  19. Jordan Says:

Michelle, Thank you and God for allowing President Obama to continue to guide us for four more years.

  20. Laura Says:

Michelle, you promised that Obama would win early and in a landslide. You DELIVERED!

    Thank you.

    Laura

  21. Mildred Says:

HA HA! SO MUCH FOR THE GREAT WHITE DOPE!

  22. Joel Says:

Yes, Michelle, you predicted an Obama landslide, but heck I would have taken whatever we can get to keep a rich con man and liar out of the whitehouse. This guy turned his back on Veterans outsourced jobs to China and had the nerve to distort and deny Obama’s record of getting this country back on its feet.

Republicans have done everything in their power to make Obama a one term president and they failed, so glad the educated and smart Americans knew the real score and the dummies all thought about a mans color rather then his character.

  23. Whisper Says:

Michelle, Madaline, and to all who helped, contributed, voted, donated, and prayed, THANK YOU!

  24. Vickie Says:

Me, I’m wondering how that Scarborough is going to weasel out of having to grow a mustache.

Axelrod bet him Obama would win and said if O didn’t, Axelrod would shave his.

And, Scarborough had to grow one.

Is Scarborough now going to claim that Sandy was an “unforeseen factor”, so bet is off?

And, btw, re impact of Sandy on the election: Nate Silver discusses that on his blog and clearly says momentum Romney had had stopped two weeks before Sandy.

Silver uses FACTS to support his statement on this.

Heah, folks, it’s “Republican policies” that have lost Romney this election. Period. I would only add to that and Michelle’s determination to bring the bastards down.

    Vickie

  25. General Info Says:

Save Big on Hotels By Mastering Priceline.com

The “bidding” feature on Priceline.com has become one of the most popular tools for travelers to slash prices on hotels. But to get the lowest price, know the best strategies…

    HOW BIDDING WORKS

Using the “Name Your Own Price” option, hotel room bidders select an area (such as a city or a neighborhood)…a quality level based on a star system…and the amount they’re willing to pay.

If a hotel accepts the bid, the bidder’s credit card is charged—he/she cannot reject the hotel or cancel the booking later. Discounts often are 50% off standard rates or even much greater.

Caution: Be wary of bidding for airline tickets. You might get a flight with a long layover or a predawn departure.

    BEFORE BIDDING

Visit BiddingTraveler.com, which tracks successful Priceline bids. Enter your destination and travel dates (weekend rates can differ significantly from weekday rates), then take note of the average and lowest winning bids for hotels of the quality that you want (click the link below the hotel).

    Helpful:
If you’re willing to invest some more time, also visit BiddingForTravel.com and BetterBidding.com, online forums where Priceline.com usersmshare information about bids. Check the posted rates offered by discount travel Web sites such as Hotwire.com, Kayak.com and Orbitz.com.

    TO BID

Set your initial Priceline bid near the low end of the range of accepted or stated offers you found, or if you want to simplify your task, set your initial bid near the average winning bid amount.

If your bid is too low and so is not accepted, the official policy is that you cannot try a different bid for 24 hours unless you adjust one of your bidding parameters other than price.

But there’s a way to get around this restriction.
Simply add an additional nearby geographic area to your hotel search—but choose an area that doesn’t contain any hotels of the quality you requested. With no appropriate additional hotels added to your parameters, you’re effectively bidding on the original area again.

To find areas that lack hotels of a given quality, select from the areas listed one by one. If the star level you want is listed in gray and cannot be selected, the area has no hotels of that quality.

    Helpful:
Priceline occasionally makes “counteroffers.” Reject these. They usually mean that you’re coming close to a price that will be accepted. Bid slightly more than your last bid but less than the counteroffer.

    ALTERNATIVE STRATEGIES

Try starting your search several days early so you can rebid every 24 hours without changing your parameters.

For a second chance to bid right away at a different price, your spouse or other traveling companion can try the second time under his/her name.

If you want to stay at a particular hotel, call it directly (not the chain’s 800-number) after checking BiddingTraveler.com for a bid typically accepted for that hotel, and ask to speak with someone in guest relations or the manager.

Tell this person that you know the hotel often accepts Priceline bids of that amount, and ask if you can have that rate if you book directly. Hotels sometimes agree to this because it saves them Priceline’s fee.

  26. Mike, TM Says:

The GOP has been in caucus trying to come up with a way to keep the control and political power in the United States in white america’s hands. Actually they mean keeping it in the hands of the white man. They know they can win on the state level by out spending their competition. So they will concentrate on two things.

ONE, increasing their control over state government. They already hold more governorships, 30 than any party has in a decade. They haven’t lost a governorship in 5 years.

They have decided to work on legislation that will give the state governors more power. They believe that they may be able to control the country from the state side.

They also believe that if they can manipulate the election system they will eventually control so much of the vote by deciding who gets to vote. The plan is to start with legislating restrictive laws to eliminate as much of the electorate that traditionally vote for the opposition.

They plan to use the power of the governor’s office to suppress that part of the electorate that can’t be gotten rid of via legislative action. The GOP has no intention of changing their racism or bigotry. They have decided to change the way they go about practicing it.

TWO, work to increase the political power and the governing powers of State governors.

What they have come up with is the belief that if they can give the Governors more power in states, they will eventually bring back control of the country to white men. Look for the GOP to be passing laws within each state in which they have control to make the governors more powerful.

    Mike,TM

  27. Diana Says:

If you think race wasn’t a factor in this election, You’re either ingesting something serious, or lying to yourself. Romney could have gotten up there and stumped about sending all white males over the age of 25 off to concentration camps so he could realize his dream of a nationwide harem of wives, and they’d all still vote for him rather than elect a black man to the White House.

I listen to these people talk when they think they are commenting anonymously. They forget it doesn’t really matter if we know who they are personally. We can still see what they’re writing, thank you.

  28. Devon Says:

Michelle, the thing you fail to remember is that americans also have the right to freedom of speech and the right to make personal opinions.if they want to vote for someone because of race thats their choice.

What right did you have to interfere? You have ruined America.

    Devon

  29. Matthew Says:

Did you hear the nig’s speech? “The best is yet to come” he says. Well I would certainly hope so because it cannot get too much worse. It can only get better I would think. This is nothing against Obama as it’s not entirely the fault of his administration, but fault lies with the Bush administration before him as well. But with everything remaining status quo following this election, will think actually get better?

We all know the Republican Party did what it could to try and get Obama out of office. What makes us think they’ll suddenly comprimise and work together with Obama? Their goal, like it is the goal of the Democrats as well, is to get “their man” in office the next time around. I just wonder if anything will be different at all.

  30. Mann Says:

Okay, so the spook won. Unfortunately, I don’t believe anything is going to change and in my opinion it is because of Obama’s inability to be bipartisan. A prime example of a Democratic President who had a stellar track record in performance is Bill Clinton.

The reason Clinton was so effective at making things happen was his ability to structure deals that made everyone a winner. If he was trying to get a Bill passed he would make sure to include something in these Bills that would appeal to the GOP.

  31. John Says:

I heard the nigger’s speech. He realy means the worst is yet to come

  32. Luke Says:

The best is yet to come? Oh goody! He’s going to apologize for America even HARDER to our enemies, and rack up even more debt, and blame Bush for everything twice over now, and leave even more

American citizens to fend for themselves in muslim crapholes, and give DOUBLE the money to bloated, corrupt and failing unions, and force everyone to accept sexual depravity. YAAAAAAAAAAAAY

And fuck you Michelle for all your help.

  33. Jack Says:

    democracy (di-mah-kru-ce), n: A system of government.
in which the three hundred and and twenty five million.
losers of an election have to buy the five million.
winners of an election Anything They Want.
    democracy

  34. Otto Says:

“Obama had 55.8 million, 49.8 percent of the popular vote. Romney had 54.5 million, or 48.6 percent.”
I am disappointed in 54.5 Americans.

  35. Meeka Says:

“The Best Is Yest To ome”… It sure can’t get much worse… Oh wait Obama won, I guess it can!

  36. Thomas Says:

Good news this morning… Great to you Obama.

  37. Jody Says:

Depravity Luke? Who are you to make such a judgment? Seriously, it’s non of your business (nor anybody’s business) how people choose their sexual partners, as long as it’s “legal.”

As for the other “stuff”, I don’t blame you for saying “Muslim crapholes” (and your other speculative attacks), but it doesn’t mean that having such an opinion justifies everything. And after all, people have voted.

You’re going to tell them they’re all idiots? It doesn’t mean you’re an idiot if you don’t like the current president’s policies, it just means that for now the majority (somehow) disagrees with you.

  38. Ron Says:

    Get over yourself Luke.

  39. Michele Says:

    YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!

  40. Juanita Says:

What this election proved is that Americans are waking up to the destruction that you religious fanatics would reap if running this country. The Tea Party is on their way out as well as the religious right in politics.

This is America where people have the freedom FROM religion, and we do not need any legislation based on the ideal of God. Worse yet, the ideals of God interpreted by a collection of greedy mortal men to rule and enslave the rest of us.

  41. Domingo Says:

Could you please explain if what is the significance of the Popular Votes to the Electoral College Votes since it is the Electoral votes that decides the outcome of the presidency?

Is there any direct significance at all of the popular votes in Presidential Elections? I appreciate any explanation for my enlightenment! Thank you very much.

  42. Kathleen Says:

Looks like the American Idol and Dancing With The Stars people won. These goofs mostlikely haven’t a clue about Benghazi, the Keystone Pipeline, Solyndra and all the other crap that BO has given us. Four more years to get closer to being like Greece, Spain, and Italy.

  43. Zee Says:

I Applaud health care for all Americans because what is really sad is that I give my goats better health care than most people get in America and throughout the world.

  44. Steve Says:

Can only hope that this time around, the President actually works across the aisle with Congress.

  45. Ron Says:

    Domingo:

Basically, this country does not use the national popular vote to elect the President. It’s just a fun fact that you can quote when a candidate loses the popular vote but wins the election.

The fact is that the Electoral College essentially gives a disproportionate amount of power and influence to certain states (relative to their share of the overall population), creating a skewed system in which candidates will spend the lions share of their time and money in the battleground states with the most Electoral votes to award them on Election night.

  46. Louis Says:

Steve, And that will work only if they also work across the aisle with him, instead of having a single-minded focus of ending his tenure and caring about NOTHING else.

  47. Justin Says:

More bullshit from the right. Obama tried to work with congress numerous times. Their number one goal was to make Obama a one term president. They acted like children and STILL lost the election

  48. Mick Says:

Yes, now we can spend 12 trillion in 4 years instead of 6! The best is yet to come.

    Fuck you and Madaline, Michelle.

  49. Dane Says:

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction.” [Gal.6:7,8]

Congratulations Mr. President and America! You have stood for the killing of babies in the womb and spit in the face of God about his definition of marriage by promoting Gay marriage and also have passed the legalization of drugs!

WOW! Congratulations Mr. President and America for you will now reap what you have sown! God cannot and will not be mocked! Enjoy!

  50. Roger Says:

The last 4 years were hard, sadly, now I do not see them getting better, where is Ronnie Reagan when when we need him most…

  51. John Says:

And now Obama can be more “flexible” in dealing with Vladimir Putin.

  52. Howard Says:

Michelle, Keep in mind that the country is nearly evenly divided. That means be careful of who you call “dumb Republicans” because they may be standing right next to you.

  53. Kris Says:

You sore losers; shut the fluck up you inbred hillbillies. I cannot believe all the snit I’m reading. Most of you are nothing but a bunch of teenagers, and if you aren’t a teenagers, then your mothers breast fed you too long and you are emotional cripples.

  54. Miguel Says:

Hello Howie, where are you? Israel is celebrating with you America.

  55. TE Says:

Jakarta wishes you the best America. Congratulations Mr. President.

  56. Ed Says:

Obama won because our media is corrupt.

  57. Charlie Says:

Dane, when you die you just rot in a hole. Spoiler alert.

  58. Becky Says:

Dane, I mock God all the time :D He’s my bro :3 Funny how you religious goofballs never remember separation of church and state, go back to Iran.

  59. Ron Says:

Dane, that was a straw man argument. If you read the new testament, you would realize that Jesus spent FAR MORE TIME talking about the treatment of the poor and downtrodden than he ever did moralizing about “sinful” behavior.

So let’s not pretend that Mitt Romney and the Republicans were on a mission from above. Regardless as to how his church might esteem him, it’s CRYSTAL CLEAR that his policies do not reflect any Godly sense of compassion.

When compassion is considered an expletive in our super-capitalist society, we can rest assured that we are FAR from the heart of God.

  60. Melissa Says:

    Roger#50, Hahahahahahaha!!!!

  61. Robert Says:

Reagan got 240 Marines blown up in Lebanon. He suffered from Alzheimers. Lets hope he stays dead.

  62. Bob Says:

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury.

From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. Great nations rise and fall.

The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage.

  63. Mann Says:

Election is over and Obama has won 4 more years, good for him.

Now, we all need to strap ourselves in and be prepared for a complete reversal of all issues that made it appear the economy was heading in the right direction.

I predict that gas prices will zoom back up over the $4.25 price mark before Christmas.
I predict that unemployment will rise back up over 9% by February 2013.
I predict that China’s economy will implode and this will send the US into a full blown recession!

And finally, I predict that if you enjoyed the past 4 years, then you will be happy because that is exactly what I think we will be looking at for the next 4 years!

  64. Kent Says:

How nice, children in Jakarta have aspirations of becoming the president of the United States

  65. Jerry Says:

Those of you who want a weak American President that isn’t a white guy. I hope you are happy.

  66. Fugi Says:

Mann, of those 3 predictions, how many of them are under the president’s direct control and ability to influence? You might as well predict that a gigantic meteor will smash into the Earth and obliterate all life, and then conclude that had Romney been president it wouldn’t have happened that way.

  67. Miller Says:

we are all doomed. we all going to die. obama only wants to blow up our country. I think I will move to a diffent country and never have to see him ever.

  68. Lulu Says:

Although I think we all know the answer to this, I’lll ask anyway: Are the Republicans smart enough to learn from this?

  69. Bill Says:

Jerry #65, I would hardly call him weak, i will take honest though, over lies and deception. Thank you.

  70. Scott Says:

The Kremlin and Putin cheer Obama’s win. Chavez and Castro endorse Obama. Chilling!!!! Libs…what are you thinking? Guess we will soon find out.

  71. Morris Says:

The people that voted for Obama, they will be the blame for destroying this country.. The stupid will in inherit the US..

  72. Nana Says:

Miller, I hope you already got your ticket from Jet Blue! Hurry up and leave!

  73. Justin Says:

Lulu, I don’t think so. I’ve already heard how they lost because they were not conservative enough and Romney was a North Eastern elite liberal.

  74. Ndidi Says:

I say congratulations to president Obama, from Nsukka, Nigeria.

  75. June Says:

Kathleen, I guess you are speaking for lots of sad, old white guys in Boston last night. To quote Mathew Dowd: The Republicans are a Mad Men party in a Modern Family American.

  76. Fareed Says:

    Congratulations from Egypt President Obama.

  77. 恵美子 Says:

Japan loves you Michelle, you are a powerful lady.

    Congratulations President Obama.

  78. Latifah Says:

Michelle, thanks to you and God women have come to realize their strength. 52 percent of the vote, that fact does not need to be empowered, it is power!

  79. Donald is a Duck Says:

Besides Diane Sawyer being drunk on air last night, some highlights involved Donald Trump meltdown on Twitter, including tweets like, “House of Representatives shouldn’t give anything to Obama unless he terminates Obamacare.”

But what’s particularly interesting is that Trump has deleted some of his more wingnutty tweets that even legit journalists were mocking last night. He deleted a tweet that read, “More votes equals a loss… revolution!”

In response, Andy Cohen tweeted, “I’m a run a sedative up to Trump Tower#BRB.”

Brian Williams went off on Trump live on air saying, “Donald Trump has driven well past the last exit to relevance and veered into something closer to irresponsible.”

    and the best:
Modern Family creator and producer Steve Levitan tweeted: “Hey Trump, did you see Mitt Romney’s concession speech? That’s what graciousness and good hair looks like.”

LMAO! Let’s hope this blowhard shuts his pie hole now.

  80. DIAD Says:

    AND

At 11:16 p.m. on Election Day, President Obama’s Twitter feed posted a photo of Barack and Michelle Obama hugging each other, with the statement “Four more years.”

By Wednesday morning, the post had topped 500,000 retweets. The New York Daily News reports that Obama’s tweet racked up more than 400,000 hits in just two hours, becoming the most popular tweet, ever. (The second-most popular tweet, posted by Justin Bieber, received more than 200,000 retweets.)

All the photos of the First Family last night were top notch. What an elegant, classy family. More Americans could learn from their behavior.

  81. Tim Says:

Hey (GOP) misogynists! You’re days are numbered.

  82. Carogonza Says:

Hey (GOP) misogynists! You’re days are numbered.

  83. Lisa Says:

“The Obama campaign’s heavy focus on women’s issues”

I’m pretty sure it was the Republican’s heavy focus on women’s issues that turned the tide for the president.

  84. Drake Says:

“You can talk about the other back and forth, and flip-flopping and the other things. … If you’ve wrapped yourself up in too many pledges, that diminishes your ability to do what needs to be done in the final stretch to some extent.”
    ~Jon Huntsman,

  85. Niyi Says:

One thing to take from this is very simple and that is, as more young women get involved in the political process, they are saying no to a party who on a national level feels they want a small government but the government should put its foot down when it comes to issues women should be deciding on their own.

I am sure older women probably went for Romney, but the fact is, most of those women are no longer looking to have children, so their decision making was probably based more on other issues.

But young women, people like my wife who is 28, know that their voices need to but heard, not just the voice of her 58 year old mother. So i just want to say, thank you ladies by understanding which party gives you a choice and which party doesn’t and the majority of you chose wisely.

  86. Helen Says:

Wow, Michelle, the republicans thought they would gain at least 50 seats in the Senate. They lost 2.

Please thank Madaline for all of us.

She kept the cheats from stealing this one.

    Helen
