We’ve Got The Power

Good morning!

Obama’s been pushing it and he’s been pushing it good. But as he said in his speech last night in Virginia, “You know, but the power is not with us anymore…It’s up to you. You’ve got the power.”

Obama: ‘I’m Sort Of A Prop In The Campaign’

In a speech to supporters in Virginia on Saturday night, President Barack Obama told the crowd, “I’m sort of a prop in the campaign.”

“You know, I was backstage with David Plouffe, some of you guys know he’s sort of a mastermind of campaign organization and we were talking about how as the campaign goes on, we become less relevant,” the president said. “I’m sort of a prop in the campaign. He’s just bothering a bunch of folks, calling, asking what’s going on.”

He continued, “You know, but the power is not with us anymore. The planning, everything we do, it doesn’t matter because now it’s all up to you. It’s up to the volunteers. It’s up to somebody knocking on a door. It’s up to somebody making a phone call. It’s up to somebody talking to their mom, or their dad, or their wife or their husband, or their grandma or grandpa, and that’s how democracy is supposed to be. It’s up to you. You’ve got the power.”

Obama delivered his remarks after former president Bill Clinton delivered a fiery speech to introduce the president in the critical battleground. The AP reports:

Clinton, his voice hoarse from a flurry of campaign events, said he had given “my voice in the service of my president.” The former president vouched for Obama’s economic agenda, saying he had done a good job with a bad hand.Obama, in his fourth rally of the day, sought to draw a connection between the flush economy Clinton presided over and his own policies for a second term, including increasing taxes on upper income earners.

The joint rally drew more than 24,000 people to an outdoor arena on a chilly November night. Obama and Clinton will campaign together again Sunday morning in New Hampshire.

The latest polls out on the presidential race show Obama holding a slim advantage over Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in key swing states, including Virginia.

*******

Readers: It’s down to the last few days and I don’t know about all of you but I am HOPEing and praying that people will go out and vote for Obama. I don’t care if you’re a repub telling your friends and family that you are voting for Romney, as long as you vote for Obama when you are alone in that voting booth…and let me remind you to vote Democrat all the way! We need those long flowing coattails too.

And…I know this is a long shot, but I am also HOPEing that the ruthless racists will come to their senses and realize that Obama is the better candidate for our country…for all…who will look out and work hard for all of us. What more can I say? I am always HOPEing that goodness outshines and overcomes.

That being said, a little hint here and there isn’t bad either to inspire an Obama/Democrat ticket. Call me crazy, but I going to keep pushing and fighting this to the end. I’ve got the power…you’ve got the power…we’ve got the power.

So here’s that hint I’m talking about….this political parody was e-mailed to me so I thought I would share it with you:

    Guam’s Calvo signs anti-abortion measure
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 05 2012 00:00 BY JOY WHITE – VARIETY NEWS STAFF
HAGÅTÑA — Surrounded by pro-life advocates, including Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron and Sen. Dennis Rodriguez, Gov. Eddie Calvo on Thursday signed into law Bill 52, the Women’s Reproductive Act of 2011.

    Eddie Calvo

Bill 52, passed by the Legislature on Oct. 24, requires that women seeking abortions be first given information on their rights, the fathers’ responsibilities, and resources available to them. A 24-hour waiting period is also required after the information is provided before a woman can undergo the procedure.

In signing the bill into law, Calvo said: “This is not something religious. There are people who do this for religious reasons and moral reasons, but folks let’s get to the bottom of all this. The ultimate end process is a live human being. It doesn’t have to just be in a religious sense but also in a scientific biological sense.”

Senator Rodriguez, the chairman of the health committee, stated: “It was difficult to move this forward. But at the end of the day, it’s a simple legislation, it’s about informing the woman before she makes a decision. The choice is still up to her.”

Despite heavy support for the bill, the administration found several problem areas in the language of the bill.

The governor’s legal counsel, Maria Cenzon, said there was problematic language in the bill, particularly in the section of the law that outlines the mandates of the informational pamphlet.

However, the governor is confident the law will hold up against any “mischief.”

“We’re ready to deal with extreme mischief,” he said.

Other concerns with the bill were pointed out by Dr. Thomas Shieh, a local OB-GYN and president of the Guam Medical Association.

According to a letter Shieh sent to political leaders late last week, a provision in the bill which mandates that women must also be informed of the risks of carrying a child to full term may actually increase the number of abortions.

Calvo addressed this concern by stating that the bill, now law, provides women with thorough information on all issues concerning pregnancy and abortion. He does not agree that abortions will be encouraged by including information about the risks of carrying a child to term.

Tim Rohr, from the anti-abortion group The Esperansa Project, said: “A lot of people still have no clue that abortions are happening on Guam or how many. We average an abortion a day.” He stated that the group will remain vigilant until the governor releases the transmittal report and that the number of abortions points to a larger social problem on Guam.

Bill 52 also enacts penalties for clinics or physicians who violate the law. The violation of the law will be considered a misdemeanor.

Calvo originally introduced the bill in January 2011. Last week, the Legislature’s health committee reported out the bill and the governor requested a special session on it.

Abortion is legal on Guam as it is in the rest of the United States. In 32 states, pre-abortion counseling is required.

It seems that men will stop at nothing when it comes to controlling women. They use God or rather their version of god to make what they couldn’t do with logic convince others to accept this bullshit law.

Those talking heads who oppose the President would damm him no matter what he did or did not do. He goes in person to confer with the Governor of a stricken state. It must be pure politics.

Had he not gone, he would have been defamed as ‘uncaring’ and ‘clueless’. Those who give credence to these blowhards do so because they too have rejected him out of hand as unacceptable in any form.

  8. Gladys Says:

These polls are insane…I do not know of anyone now who is in Romney’s corner….My Dad at 80 years old is voting Democrat for the first time…in my Dads own words….”that man wouldn’t know the truth if it bi$ched slapped him across the face”…I’m afraid to say his (Romneys) confidence makes me think he took an oath with the spawns of Satan (Koch Brothers) and they told him the election has been bought and paid for by the Brothers themselves.

  9. Greg Says:

If you’re a Democrat, then Obama’s version of the truth somehow is not a spin or a lie – how easy are you to fool! For four years we have listened to how Obama improved the economy, created jobs and saved America.

The truth never mattered because Dems were out to crucify Romney. Romney lies and Obama doesn’t – give me a break. Here are two guys who value the truth so much that they use it sparingly. Many of you think between Obama and Gore have saved this planet from total destruction!

Obama wasted his first two years pushing healthcare and distancing himself from Republicans. Stop crying about filibustering – Obama can’t manage so stop the weeping. Then Obama wasted his final year campaigning. He’s a power freak just like Romney so let’s not knight him just yet. History will not be kind to him/

    Cayenne for Cuts

While I cooked dinner last Thursday night, my husband (lovingly!) traveled around the house with a ladder to replace several hard-to-reach light bulbs, a chore we both loathe but could no longer ignore because it had gotten too “dark” in the kitchen and my closet.

Suddenly Bob came running downstairs saying, “I’m fine but I need some Band-Aids.” One of the bulbs had broken in the socket, and he tried to remove the base by hand. Well intended, but not a wise approach. Now he was bleeding on four of his fingertips. None of them seemed too deep, but it’s not easy to apply direct pressure in so many places at once.

Then I remembered that cayenne stops bleeding, a solution included in our “Treasury of Home Remedies & Natural Cures” book by Joan Wilen & Lydia Wilen. I quickly found the bottle of ground cayenne pepper in our spice cabinet and shook furiously onto one of Bob’s fingertips.

Sure enough, within a minute, maybe quicker, the bleeding stopped. We did the same to the rest of his cut fingers with the same results.

    Two warnings:

    (1) This remedy will sting a bit. Bob found that the stinging stopped about the same time that the bleeding stopped.

    (2) If you have a broken light bulb and want to remove it yourself, do so safely. Turn off the circuit breaker and use the appropriate safety gloves and tools. Here’s a helpful video that explains how to remove different types of broken bulbs. Or call an electrician.

Do not try using a raw potato, a method demonstrated in numerous YouTube videos and featured in an old Reader’s Digest book commercial. We tried that once years ago. The potato also got stuck, and we had to replace the entire fixture.

Bottom line: Even if you don’t like spicy food, keep a bottle of cayenne pepper handy in your kitchen. Right next to your aloe vera plant (for burns).

    ===========================
Geraldo Rivera and Eric Bolling got into a shouting match when Rivera accused his Fox News colleague of lying about the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

The deadly attack has been a major focus for Fox News, with some hosts suggesting that the White House tried to cover up what really happened. Friday’s “Fox and Friends” — which aired graphics that read “Cover-Up of The Cover-Up” and “Secret note showed vulnerable consulate” — was no exception.

Speaking to Rivera, Bolling alleged that the fighting at the compound lasted seven hours and that the United States sent “no help.”

“That is an obscene lie,” Rivera charged. “You are a politician looking to make a political point.”

Bolling argued that there were American forces in Tripoli that could have been sent to Benghazi. Rivera said that they were.

“You are misleading the American people because you want to make a political point,” he said to Bolling. “We have never in the history of this republic mounted a raid on the circumstance described here ever.”

He went on to say that he spoke to Charles Woods, whose son Tyrone was killed in the attack, and that it broke his heart to hear Woods’ charges against the White House.

Rivera exclaimed, “He is being led down a primrose path of misinformation that is making it look as if President Obama went gambling in Las Vegas when he could’ve been saving people in Benghazi and that’s a lie!”

Glad to see Geraldo isn’t afraid to vent righteous indignation, even while working at Fox. He and Shepard Smith, at least, don’t seem to place fear for their jobs over maintaining their self-respect. Couldn’t be said for most of Fox News hosts and staff.

  15. Janet Says:

Adam, the republicans never stop lying. Their constituents lie all the time. I used to be a republican and I know that I was lied to constantly. One of the things about that party that bothered me most is that when we met or got together we lied to each other knowingly all the time.

It is like when we accusel the minorities playing the race card while knowing they are telling the truth about what is happening to them. We feel smugly superior and good about ourselves.

I just stopped one day. It was over and now I don’t tell my friends that I am a democrat. I don’t because most of my long time friends would just stop talking to me. That is how ridiculous they are about their politics. It is also why they never have to accept the truth about what the party is really about.

Michelle your blog and the articles you choose to reprint are so necessary. It changes some of us. I was moved by one article in particular a friend sent me anonymously two years ago. I have been a fan of your blog every since.

This one by Huff post about Rachel Maddow interview on NBC’S “Meet The Press” was especially good. She points out that Romney just flat out lies.
    =====================================

Rachel Maddow appeared on NBC’s “Meet The Press” on Sunday and discussed what she called Mitt Romney’s “truthfulness problem.”

Earlier this week, Maddow said that Romney visited Defiance, Ohio and told voters that he recently read that “Jeep is planning to move all of its production overseas.”

Maddow said that this claim was blatantly false, and Chrysler clarified misreported stories and statements on its blog:

“Let’s set the record straight: Jeep/Chrysler is considering adding some production in China, but only for those models to be sold in the Chinese market. It’s simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep output to China for the world’s largest auto market. U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. A careful and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved unnecessary fantasies and extravagant comments.”

“It’s ok for a candidate to make a flub, but to not correct it, to not say ‘I was wrong about that,’” Maddow said. “The campaign was asked, ‘Are you sure [Romney] actually meant that? Because that doesn’t seem to be true.’ No response clearing that up from the campaign.”

She added, “There’s been a truthfulness problem with the Romney campaign that connects even to the very basic issues like the economy in the states where it most matters.”

Maddow has criticized Romney and his campaign throughout the 2012 election cycle for failing to correct misstatements. In late September, Romney told a CNN reporter that his campaign corrects or removes inaccurate facts.

“The Romney campaign…hasn’t been correcting or removing their own false claims from the record when they are proven to be false, which is a strange decision for a campaign operating at the presidential level,” Maddow said.

Anderson Cooper called out Romney earlier this week for continuously running ads that include false statements, stating that the commercials “bend the truth.”
    ==================================
The sad truth is the republican candidates lie because they know that their constituents expect them to. They believe the end justifies the means. Lie, steal votes, suppress votes, cheat, do whatever it takes to win.

    I quit that LSOS party.

    Janet

  16. Paula Says:

Adam, You are so right on about the republican party and Romney in particular when it comes to telling any lie to win. I read an article on Huff post about one of the executives at Jeep who was so mad at the republicans spreading the lie about Jeep moving jobs to China that he called their chief surrogate, trump a liar in a tweet.
    ====================================
DETROIT, Nov 1 (Reuters) – A Chrysler executive told Donald Trump in a Tweet on Thursday that the real estate executive and television personality was “full of shit” for repeating a notion that Chrysler is shipping U.S. Jeep production to China, which the automaker refutes.

Ralph Gilles, the head of product design for Chrysler, became the second top Chrysler executive in three days to strongly deny the claim, which was first made by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney last week to a crowd in Ohio.

Trump, from his Twitter account, said, “Obama is a terrible negotiator. He bails out Chrysler and now Chrysler wants to send all Jeep manufacturing to China–and will!”

To which Gilles, from his Twitter account, responded to Trump: “You are full of shit!”

In a second Tweet, Gilles added: “I apologize for my language, but lies are just that, lies.”

On Tuesday, Chrysler Group LLC Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne, in an e-mail to employees, also flatly denied Romney’s claim.

“I feel obliged to unambiguously restate our position: Jeep production will not be moved from the United States to China,” Marchionne wrote.

Romney, speaking a week ago to a crowd in Defiance, Ohio, said that he had read a news article that said Chrysler’s Jeep brand is considering moving “all production to China.”

Jeep, Chrysler’s global brand, has three U.S. assembly plants, including one in Toledo, Ohio. The others are in Illinois and in Detroit.

Ohio is seen by pollsters as a key “swing” state in next Tuesday’s presidential election. It has been the site of intense competition between the campaigns of Romney and President Barack Obama.

After Romney spoke in Defiance, his campaign aired an advertisement that did not repeat the move of production from Ohio but said that Chrysler is considering making Jeeps in China, which Chrysler has said it intends to do.

Marchionne said that any Jeep production in China would be for the Chinese market, and that the company would not take any production away from Chrysler’s U.S. plants. Rather, he said, Chrysler is adding jobs and investment at its Ohio plant.

Chrysler has been managed by Fiat SpA since it emerged from its 2009 bankruptcy, when the Italian company took 20 percent ownership. Fiat has since increased its ownership to 58.5 percent.

Marchionne is chief executive of both Chrysler and Fiat.

Early voting is supposed to make it easier for people to carry out their constitutional right. Tuesdays are notoriously inconvenient to take off work, so many states have given voters the option of turning out on weekends or other weekdays in the run-up to Election Day.

But in Florida this year, it has been a nightmare for voters, who have faced record wait times, long lines in the sun and a Republican governor, Rick Scott, who has refused to budge and extend early voting hours.

“People are getting out to vote. That’s what’s very good,” said Scott.

People are getting out to vote — but many of them are having to wait in line for three or four hours to do so. One contributor to DailyKos claimed it took 9 hours to vote. In Miami-Dade on Saturday, people who had gotten in line by 7:00 p.m. were allowed to vote; the last person wasn’t checked in until 1 a.m., meaning it took some individuals six hours to cast a ballot.

“We’re looking at an election meltdown that is eerily similar to 2000, minus the hanging chads,” said Dan Smith, a political science professor at the University of Florida.

Miami-Dade attempted to deal with the problem on Sunday by allowing voters to cast absentee ballots in person between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. However, after just two hours, the Miami-Dade elections department shut down the location after too many people showed up. People outside the locked doors were reportedly screaming, “We want to vote!”

“They didn’t have the infrastructure,” filmmaker Lucas Leyva, who was among those turned away, told The Huffington Post’s Janie Campbell. “We read the press release and everything that went out this morning, promising we’d be able to get absentee ballots and vote. We got here and there was a line of hundreds of people all being told the same thing, that that wasn’t true anymore. You could drop off [a ballot], but they could not issue one.”

And if getting turned away from the polls weren’t enough of an indignity, some of those 180 people ended up getting their cars towed from the parking lot across the street, according to a Miami Herald reporter.

On Twitter, former Republican governor Charlie Crist — who is now an independent — responded to news of the office’s closing, writing on Twitter, “Let the people vote!”

“We had the best of intentions to provide this service today,” said department spokeswoman Christina White. “We just can’t accommodate it to the degree that we would like to.”

About 30 minutes later, a Miami Herald reporter tweeted that the Miami-Dade location was reopening its doors.

Palm Beach, Pinellas, Orange, Leon and Hillsborough Counties also opened up in-person absentee voting on Sunday.

President Barack Obama’s campaign and some of its supporters were attempting to keep people’s spirits up — and discourage them from abandoning the lines — by bringing in food, water and even local musicians and DJs as entertainment.

North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre brought 400 slices of pizza to voters in line at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night at the city’s public library, according to an Obama official.

While many Democrats viewed it as a victory when a few offices opened absentee balloting on Sunday, the process is not the same as early voting — and could result in more individuals not having their votes counted.

“Absentee ballots have a much higher rejection rate for minorities and young people, if you look at the Aug. 14 primary,” said Smith.

A major reason there are so many problems at the polls is that last year, Florida’s GOP-controlled legislature shortened the number of early voting days from 14 to eight, meaning all early voters are trying to cast their ballots in a shorter window. Previously, Floridians were allowed to vote on the Sunday before Election Day — a day that typically had high traffic.

But losing that final Sunday isn’t the only problem. Smith said that he and Dartmouth professor Michael Herron found that in 2008, voters 65 or older were much more likely to cast ballots in the first five days of early voting than members of other age groups, alleviating some of the pressure at the polls in the remaining days. Those extra days, however, are gone this year, leading to a compression that the system has been unable to handle.

Scott has refused to extend early voting hours, essentially arguing that there is no problem, despite calls from Democrats, independent groups and even a Republican elections supervisor. He is arguing that he can extend early voting hours only when there is a true emergency — like a natural disaster — that warrants it.

“I’m focused on making sure that we have fair, honest elections,” said Scott. “One thing to know, these early voting days and on Election Day, if you’re there by the time the polls close, you get to vote.”

Scott has some of the lowest approval ratings of any governor in the nation. In recent Quinnipiac poll, just 39 percent of Floridians said they approved of the job he is doing. Scott, unlike many other GOP governors, has not hit the campaign trail much on behalf of Mitt Romney.

As Florida Democrats have pointed out, the state’s previous two Republican governors — Jeb Bush and Crist — both extended the hours. A spokesman for Bush didn’t return a request for comment.

A judge extended the hours in Orange County after the state Democratic Party sued for more time. The location was closed for several hours on Saturday when everyone was evacuated due to a suspicious package.

Democrats are traditionally more likely to vote early, which is why many in the party have ascribed political motives to Scott’s restriction of the process. According to a report in the Miami Herald on Saturday, Democrats were leading Republicans “by about 187,000 early in-person ballots cast” as of that morning.

On Election Day, there will be fewer polling precincts this year than in 2008 — due to redistricting and budget constraints — meaning traffic on Tuesday could also be a problem.

Florida is expected to be tight in this election. According to HuffPost Pollster’s average of polls in the race, Romney is now leading Obama in the state by less than one percentage point.

It is shocking that these republican governors can act like third world dictators when it comes to our most valuable tool to determine the fate of this nation, the vote.

White men have had total control of the booths for too long. We have to organize and take our country away from those racist bastards.

Michelle, please tell Madaline to help us win Florida.

America’s world ranking in voting rights just slipped below it’s ranking in science education.

Now THAT’S about as low as you can go!!!

  19. Roger Says:

Remove the libs that are voting for their third and fourth times and there would be no lines.

  20. Sandra Says:

Once again my State of Florida is a Free World Embarrassment. The Justice Deptartment should be coming down here and jailing people !! Here we are with Rick Scott acting like Noriega and embarrasing the country. I’ll never understand why so many innocents die from home invasions and yet people like Crooky the Guv don’t have a car wreck.

  21. Dan Says:

Exactly how many days do we need to have open to vote? 30? 40? things happen in that time frame that would chage a vote – for instance obama lying about benghazi.

I live in fl and except for the one time I did early vote have never waited more than 1/2 hour to vote.

  22. Janelle Says:

Is there anyone in Florida changing their vote from Republican to Democratic because of this voter suppression? I’d like to hear from people who support what Scott is doing. Rational answers please. I’d like to know what it feels like on the ground. It doesn’t look pretty sitting out here on the West Coast.

  23. Lewis Says:

Obama’s FEMA is making people wait longer than this for food, water and power.

  24. Helen Says:

Michelle, you are so good to encourage others to get out and vote. Republicans want long lines and a situation where many people throw their hands up and give up

Romney’s Post-Truth Campaign: Auto Rescue Edition
Last week, Mitt Romney made now infamous comments in Defiance, Ohio claiming that Jeep was going to “move all production” to China. The comments were immediately exposed as completely false. This, however, did not stop the Romney campaign from doubling down on the comments and making several other misleading claims in a TV spot. And when that ad came in for heavy criticism, they again doubled down by putting out an even more egregiously misleading radio ad about the auto bailout.

Well, the reviews of Romney’s desperate Ohio Hail Mary are in — and they’re not pretty.

Fact Checkers: “Pants on Fire,” “4 Pinocchios”

Politifact gave Romney’s statements a “pants on fire,” the nineteenth such rating he has received.

Glenn Kessler, the Washington Post’s fact checker, awarded Romney four Pinocchios — his strongest possible dishonesty rating, concluding:

“This ad shows that we have entered the final, desperate week of the campaign.”

    Major Corporations Publicly Shame Romney

In a move virtually unprecedented just days before an election, two major corporations waded into the election to debunk Romney’s false claims.

Chrysler initially responded with a blog post:

“Let’s set the record straight: Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China. It’s simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep output to China for the world’s largest auto market. U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. A careful and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved unnecessary fantasies and extravagant comments.”

But the Romney campaign continued its distortions and concerned workers even began calling their union to make sure they still had a job, so yesterday Chrysler’s CEO sent an email to employees and penned a letter to the Detroit News reiterating that Romney’s claims were “inaccurate.”

The response from General Motors was even more devastating, with the automaker saying Romney’s claims were from a “parallel universe”:

“We’ve clearly entered some parallel universe during these last few days,” GM spokesman Greg Martin said. “No amount of campaign politics at its cynical worst will diminish our record of creating jobs in the U.S. and repatriating profits back to this country.”

“At this stage,” Martin said, “we’re looking at a Hubble telescope-length distances between campaign ads and reality.”

    Opinion Pages Slam Romney

The Cleveland Plain Dealer wrote a scathing editorial headlined, “Flailing in Ohio, Romney rolls out Jeep ploy”:

The Romney campaign clearly is being hurt by the fact that Chrysler and GM were saved by the decisions of President Barack Obama. So Romney and his surrogates claim that Obama essentially followed their blueprintfor the rescue or that it really wasn’t a good deal — because some plants and dealerships closed — or, now, that the wolf is back at the door.

It won’t work. Ohio voters know who stepped up when the auto industry was at the abyss — and it wasn’t Romney.

And it wasn’t just Ohio papers that got in on the action. The Denver Post weighed in today, “Romney outsourcing the truth on Jeep”:

“Nothing smells like desperation more than the falsehoods and half-truths coming out of the Romney campaign about Chrysler purportedly moving Jeep manufacturing jobs to China.

“The episode has been shameful. [...]

“It bespeaks an indifference to the concerns of Ohio’s working class, and that is just as revealing as backing an ad that leaves a wholly untruthful impression.”

We could go on, but you get the picture.

Car Czar: Romney’s Claims Are “Absurd and Ridiculous”

Steve Rattner, who was the president’s lead adviser on the auto rescue, explained once again today why Romney’s claim that the automakers could’ve survived a managed bankruptcy backed by private capital is simply false:

“It is among the most absurd and ridiculous things that the Romney people have been saying. I was there in the Spring of 2009, as you all know, when this was happening. There was no private capital available to these companies whether in bankruptcy, outside of bankruptcy, or standing on their heads on Fifth Avenue. There was no private capital.[…]

“There would have been no exit [from bankruptcy]. If these companies had gone into bankruptcy without government support, they simply could not have functioned. […]

“I’ve challenged Gov. Romney to come up with one person, one company, one fund, one bank, one anything that would stand up and say, ‘yes, I was there in the Spring of 2009 ready to provide private capital and nobody wanted it.’ And he has not done that because there isn’t any such person or entity on this planet. And I am very, very confident of that.”

And just today, the Romney campaign was caught in a new effort to mislead people about the blowup. The Romney campaign claimed that a key update to the article that Romney twisted to make his original comments in Defiance, Ohio was not made until after Romney made his remarks. In reality, however, the article had been updated three days prior to Romney’s original erroneous comments.

BOTTOM LINE: Mitt Romney will literally say anything to win, no matter how dishonest. Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D) summed up what this all means:

“To try to get Ohio votes or scare people into voting for him is another example of why you cannot trust this man. To me this is an issue of character and this is why, I believe so strongly this is why he cannot win Michigan, he will not win Michigan, and he will not win Ohio because people can see deception when it’s placed in front of them.”
