Just Noticing: “Observations Of A Blogger”

Good morning!

Just noticing…

  • Hurricane Sandy is relentless.

I HOPE for everyone’s safety. I realize for some of you readers, this is a big problem when it comes to you voting. So please be careful – safety first – but do your darnedest to vote – we need all the votes we can for Obama. “Forward!”

If you’re willing to dish it out you better be willing to take it. This one’s from my beloved city…

  • …In her review of 1058 Hoagie, a newly opened sandwich shop in San Francisco, SF Weekly’s Anna Roth took issue with what she perceived was a lack of creativity in the menu. Her piece ran with the headline, “Deli Bored”:

[T]he hoagies follow the standard Italian sub playbook almost exactly, and when they do deviate from the expected, their flavors aren’t special enough to seek out.

1058 Hoagie, not a restaurant to take such a slight sitting down, fired back in menu form by re-naming its daily specials board on Wednesday “anna roth is boring,” and “anna roth, still boring” the next day. It seems the feud is lowering to a simmer, however, because Friday’s specials board was named “onward. talking about anna roth is boring.”

Speaking of putting things in your mouth:

  • “Snickers” is the highest selling candy bar for Halloween.

Snickers – I can’t remember the last time I had one, and you can be sure this Halloween, one won’t be passing through these lips either.

  • Colin Powell’s former chief of staff condemned the Republican Party on Friday night, telling MSNBC’s Ed Schultz“My party is full of racists.”Retired Army Col. Lawrence Wilkerson made the comment in response to Mitt Romney campaign surrogate John Sununu’s suggestion on Thursday that Powell’s endorsement of President Barack Obama’s re-election was motivated by race. Wilkerson, who served as Powell’s chief of staff when the general was secretary of state during the first George W. Bush term, told Schultz that he respected Sununu “as a Republican, as a member of my party,” but did not “have any respect for the integrity of the position that [Sununu] seemed to codify.”When asked by Schultz what, if anything, the remark said about the attitudes of the Republican Party, Wilkerson said:

My party, unfortunately, is the bastion of those people — not all of them, but most of them — who are still basing their positions on race. Let me just be candid: My party is full of racists, and the real reason a considerable portion of my party wants President Obama out of the White House has nothing to do with the content of his character, nothing to do with his competence as commander-in-chief and president, and everything to do with the color of his skin, and that’s despicable.

No shit. Finally a republican tells the truth.

  • Bond…James Bond turns 50, and doesn’t look a day older since he graced the silver screen 50 years ago. I’m looking forward to “SkyFall”.

That’s it for me this morning. What are you “just noticing”? Blog me. Happy Sunday!

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. 2. Robert,RT Says:

When I say what I say about the racism harbored by most whites in America, I usually get that race card bullshit from many LSOS who hide behind that card to continue their bigotry.

This article I read in the Huff Post concerning a survey done by white is proof positive that all those LSOS white folk who claimed they were undecided or who claimed they leaned towards Obama but switched after the first debate were lying.
    ========================

Racial attitudes have not improved in the four years since the United States elected its first black president, an Associated Press poll finds, as a slight majority of Americans now express prejudice toward blacks whether they recognize those feelings or not.

Those views could cost President Barack Obama votes as he tries for re-election, the survey found, though the effects are mitigated by some people’s more favorable views of blacks.

Racial prejudice has increased slightly since 2008 whether those feelings were measured using questions that explicitly asked respondents about racist attitudes, or through an experimental test that measured implicit views toward race without asking questions about that topic directly.

In all, 51 percent of Americans now express explicit anti-black attitudes, compared with 48 percent in a similar 2008 survey.

When measured by an implicit racial attitudes test, the number of Americans with anti-black sentiments jumped to 56 percent, up from 49 percent during the last presidential election. In both tests, the share of Americans expressing pro-black attitudes fell.

“As much as we’d hope the impact of race would decline over time … it appears the impact of anti-black sentiment on voting is about the same as it was four years ago,” said Jon Krosnick, a Stanford University professor who worked with AP to develop the survey.

Most Americans expressed anti-Hispanic sentiments, too. In an AP survey done in 2011, 52 percent of non-Hispanic whites expressed anti-Hispanic attitudes. That figure rose to 57 percent in the implicit test. The survey on Hispanics had no past data for comparison.

The AP surveys were conducted with researchers from Stanford University, the University of Michigan and NORC at the University of Chicago.

Experts on race said they were not surprised by the findings.
    ===================
All this confirms is that the majority of white america can’t stand the fact that the country has a black man in the White House.

They truly fear that he will make his out accomplish more that 40 of his predecessors. That is unbearable so they are lining up to vote white.
    ========================

The poll finds that racial prejudice is not limited to one group of partisans. Although Republicans were more likely than Democrats to express racial prejudice in the questions measuring explicit racism (79 percent among Republicans compared with 32 percent among Democrats), the implicit test found little difference between the two parties.

That test showed a majority of both Democrats and Republicans held anti-black feelings (55 percent of Democrats and 64 percent of Republicans), as did about half of political independents (49 percent).
    =========================
It is an uphill battle for anyone non white to get elected in this country. The problem with that is the country is being run actually ruined by white men. They have literally sold the country to the highest bidder.

Yet, white america refuses to change hands at the helm. They continue to send the same criminals to continue feed at the trough.
    ———————————————
“President Obama’s election clearly didn’t change those who appear to be sort of hard-wired folks with racial resentment,” she said.

Negative racial attitudes can manifest in policy, noted Alan Jenkins, an assistant solicitor general during the Clinton administration and now executive director of the Opportunity Agenda think tank.

“That has very real circumstances in the way people are treated by police, the way kids are treated by teachers, the way home seekers are treated by landlords and real estate agents,” Jenkins said.
    =======================
Right now it is a white america and we OTWs just live here. But the demographics are changing. I wonder how many times white america will play the “race card” when they no longer have to majority?

  3. Dan Says:

Fuck you niggers, that was no news to me! Have you tried to do the pole vice-versa? I’d love to see those results…now THAT would be news worthy.

  4. Dennis Says:

Racism is resolved person to person; NOT via polls, NOT via politics and NOT by constant media references to a racial divide.

This issue is now used to divide us as a people for partisan political purposes which is as disgusting as any racism I’ve seen or experienced.

  5. Forrest Says:

You niggers are always bitching. Yeah, we’re a racist country who overwhelmingly elected a Black man President in 2008 instead of a white war hero and POW. We’re a racist country who have, for a least a generation, supported Black politicians, entertainers, authors, sports figures, etc. and rewarded them accordingly.

Let’s get to the real point of this story from the AP/Obama News Service. First, try to re-establish the feelings of, “white guilt” ahead of the election, in people who have NEVER felt racism or lived their lives being racist, BUT don’t ever want to be perceived as such. Second, prepare the early dominant explanation for an Obama defeat in 9 days.

It couldn’t possibly be because the majority of voters might think the nigger failed. It would have to be the result of the rubber crutch of faux, and baseless racism to explain away his failures.

Would this argument be made if unemployment was at 5.6%, as he promised, or economic growth was at over 4%, as he promised? Would his re-election be in doubt if his words matched his assurances? What an evil use of a serious charge when it doesn’t apply.

  6. Paul Says:

I have been talking about the implicit portion of predjudice for about three years now and to me it is far more dangerous than explicit predjudice because people who otherwise see themseleves as racially neutral really aren’t.

It is the reason that to me the repubs can sell the idea at any point that the Dems are helping minorities move past them and that they need to take their country back or that they can create “American Jobs”.

I mean how does Gore lose? Everyone was prospering at the time and Bush appealed to the idea that the government was doing too much. Too much for whom.

The good folks in Ohio voted for Bush even though he was rewarding companies for sending their jobs overseas. The same can be said with Romney. It doesn’t matter to most of us whites as long as the candidate is white.

Romney has seen a surge in the pols as he has copied Obama’s positions. To me he seems to be saying hey I am just like him but I am white and implicitly some white’s will vote for Romney based on comfort and preference not whether his policies are acutally in their best interests.

It seems that the Repubs count on this and in alot of cases sadly they are right on the money.

  7. Ellen Says:

Forrest, I wonder if anyone could accomplish 5.6% or 4% economic growth when one party has met in a basement and plotted to do whatever it took to keep that from happening.

The LSOS part of you that Robert, RT is pointing out is that you know that but pretend not to so you can criticize Obama as if it was all his fault that nothing was done.

You are just what Robert called you, a LSOS.

    ELLEN

  8. Parks Says:

    Dan, I wonder why?

  9. Sharon Says:

Give the People a Party of all inclusiveness and they will be attracted to it. People want to see a fair representation of themselves. But when you have a Party building a fort around one sector of our Country and in a real sense trying to convince the people that is for their own good that the Rich should be protected at the peril of the Least Among Us.

Then that Party which today is the Republican Party has now become an All Inclusive Party of Privilege and White and has divided the Country in its process right down the haves and the have not! I will vote for Obama not because of his skin color but because of who his is. A Good Man!

Just in case you were wondering, No I am not black.

  10. Gilda Says:

Yes they do! When minorities call out bigotry/racism for what it is…whites are always ready to say they are racist. There are issues in all groups/families that pit one against another that could be labeled as racists.

But what we are seeing with the President has gone beyond racisim in our communities and our churches. The disrespect shown the the President of the United States is beyond the pale and trying to minimize it doesn’t make it NOT TRUE!

Anyone that would vote for someone vying to become the “Prevaricator in Chief” over the man that holds that office has some racial issues. “You can call an Onion a Rose but it is still an onion.”

  11. Mary Says:

And some of the biggest racists I’ve come across are white, so what. My point has always been that it was always there, but after Obama was elected, they came out and were much more vocal, some were hiding behind Birther posters and tea party hats, others with the fake apologies after the racist jokes or emails, even more with a chair hanging by a noose in their front yards, and last but not least, the voter suppression laws.

Protest all you want, but we are still a very racist country and the election of a black man to the presidency proves how far we’ve come, but also proves how much farther we need to go.

  12. Irene Says:

Forrest, we whites didn’t “overwhelmingly elect a Black man President in 2008 instead of a white war hero and POW.

More than 60% of white voted for the white war hero who was not hero. He was a prisoner of war but he was no hero. To be a prisoner of war, all you have to do is to be captured by the enemy.

To be a Hero, you have to do something extraordinary. The only extraordinary thing McCain ever did was to get a get-out-of-jail card when he was caught helping the rich steal in the Keating scandal.

  13. Sajsk Says:

Racists come in all colors, shapes and sizes. Contrary to what some think, whites don’t have the market on this….some of the biggest racists i’ve encountered are not white.

  14. Jorge Says:

Lots of people complaining here about the people who are complaining about being complained about. Not that I’m complaining.

  15. Sheryl Says:

Wow I just love it when issues of race comes up in the blogs. The racists come out of the wood works, solidifying the information presented in the in the article.

  16. Gloria Says:

Sajsk, Yes they do!

  17. Monica Says:

Sajsk, some of the biggest racists I’ve come across are white, so what. 18. Mai Lee Says:

Some white people are such crybabies. You know you have everything but you still complain.

  19. Adolfo Says:

White’s own everything. iN control of everything. It doesnt go their way, its a problem= entitlement society, white priviledge, paranoia, insecurity.

Obama won the WH- He’s communist, socialist, marxist, he hates white people, and he’s not american. He’s foriegn, he’s kenya. All this to ssy, he’s not white so he cannot be from here. WOW

  20. Sean Says:

The niggers and you wets are always slamming your betters. I agree with your assessment of that coon oboma.

  21. Bob Says:

Why shouldn’t we want it back? It is the White House.

  22. Bishop Says:

White america’s first reaction is to impeach any study that says they are racists. They never take the study for what it says and discuss it.

Ranting at the survey doesn’t refute what is found.

  23. Emmit Says:

For less intelligent Americans hatred is an easier emotion to feel than guilt, shame or the role you play in the discord, be it passive or full blown.

  24. Human Events Says:

    GOOD AFTERNOON TO EVERYONE!

I don’t like giving publicity to things or people that don’t deserve it, but I have to talk to you about the latest Obama ad. I’m not sure I have ever been more appalled by a political ad and that’s saying something. During a cycle that saw the Life of Julia and Joe Soptic, one thought that it couldn’t get worse, but it did. The latest attempt by the flailing Obama campaign came last night in the form of an ad so depraved and repulsive that Twitter erupted in a furor last night with the same veracity seen only when bin Laden was killed. (By Obama and don’t you forget it!)

If you haven’t watched the video yet, watch for yourself. It is the quintessential example of how disconnected some people in this country are from the founding principles and values that helped shape this country as a steward and example for other countries to emulate. The woman in the video, and the people that support what’s being said in the ad, certainly aren’t in the majority and don’t speak for women in the country, as a whole. Please e-mail me your thoughts at editors@humanevents.com on the video and I’ll post them in Monday’s email and on my Facebook page.

  25. Susie Says:

As Bill Maher has mentioned in his piece. A vote for Romney is a vote for all the pro-slavery, anti-science, rapist defending crowd of looney tunes that will follow in his coat tails. No thank you.

  26. Joan Says:

Romney, shame on you for prevarication. Oh, and that you can so easily ignore women’s rights and gay rights and union rights and human rights; makes clear to all Americans that you care about money, money, money, and um other stuff. Go look in a mirror and see the monster you are.

  27. Anna of Guam Says:

This says it all when it comes to men using the law to control the bodies of women.

    Guam lawmakers pass anti-abortion bill
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26 2012 00:00 BY JOY WHITE – VARIETY NEWS STAFF

HAGÅTÑA — The Legislature on Wednesday passed Bill 52, or “The Women’s Reproductive Health Bill,” by a vote of 11 to 4. All senators expressed their on the bill, also known as the informed consent bill.

The four who voted against the bill were Sens. Ben Pangelinan, Judith Won Pat, Tom Ada and Aline Yamashita.

As senators who oppose the bill spoke, activists lit white candles in the viewing room in protest. Anti-abortion activists support the bill because it will require that information on alternatives be provided to pregnant woman who are considering terminating their pregnancy.

The bill also requires a 24-hour waiting period after the information is given. In a booklet, women are informed of the father’s responsibility, adoption, and government programs and resources that are available. In addition, the booklet describes the development of the unborn child, including illustrations.

“Abortion is already an institutionalized, acceptable practice,” stated Sen. Adolfo Palacios, who voted in support of the bill. “With this bill, we are asking women to please be informed of alternatives and choices.”

Palacios further stated, “If this bill had been passed five years ago, how many children would not have been aborted? Bill 52 will save lives.”

    Opposition

But Sen. Aline Yamashita, who voted against the passage of the bill, stated: “I’m not sure why we believe women must be subjected to laws to make this decision.” Instead, Yamashita believes it must be the family who should be with the woman when she makes the decision.

Pangelinan also agreed that the final decision must be made by the woman and her family. “I will be judged by no one else but God, and I will accept that,” Pangelinan said.

Yamashita also stated there was no rush to pass the bill, and that more conversation should have been made.

In the final comment on the bill, Sen. Dennis Rodriguez, the health committee chairman, stated “Bill 52 does not take away women’s right to choose, it just gives them the information to make a decision.”

Rodriguez acknowledged that the bill had stirred emotions throughout the island and caused divisiveness. “With the passage of this bill the community can heal,” he stated. “With the passage of this bill, we can close this chapter, because it has been going on for too long.”

For many, however, this is not the end. Pro-life advocate Deacon Frank Tenorio is excited and thankful that the bill passed. However, he said this is not the true elimination of abortion. “This is just a step towards that direction.”

He added: “Little by little, we’re going to fight it until we completely eliminate abortion.”

Several lawmakers also alluded to a political agenda hidden behind the passage of the bill.

Sen. Judi Guthertz said she supported the bill’s passage because of her principles. She stated that the bill should be passed as it was originally intended to provide information for women, without the “political side injected into it.”

Sen. Rory Respicio also stated: “We need to focus on policy not politics.”

In a statement, Gov. Eddie Baza Calvo said: “Today’s session clearly demonstrated this bill had enough support to pass since it was introduced in January 2011.

It also clearly shows that the power a select few senators have has been used to keep good bills from being voted on. It is a shame it took executive authority to force a vote on this bill.”

Calvo further stated: “Nevertheless, I am happy we can move forward and save lives. That is what this session was about — no more, and no less.”

Abortion is legal on Guam, as it is in the rest of the United States. Several states in the United States are passing legislation to control pre-abortion protocols.

In 32 states, pre-abortion counseling is required. This year alone, 17 states have set new limits on abortion. More than 30 new abortion laws this year were passed in the United States.

You americans love dissing the European countries. You have been using it to put down your black president. But from our vantage point we see for the first time a President that is interested in the people over the super rich.

You have no idea how badly you are being ripped off by the corporations in your country. Take your cell phone and landline bills for example, we pay about $38 US for what you pay on average $145 a month for.

You pay $24.99 to LISTEN to the game 90 minutes after it is over because those white men who have had control of your legislature since its inception have been selling out to the corporations forever.

But the rest of the world except canada gets to watch every Postseason game LIVE or on demand for free. You americans are getting screwed by your white majority.

They lie to you about the state of the nation when they are the ones fucking your country up. No way can welfare the populace gets match the welfare they give legislatively to the 1% of your country.

As that black guy keeps telling you, from top to bottom the whites in your country have stacked the deck against the middle class and the poor. The truly Bought And Paid For.

Tag that bunch of LSOSs, BAPF. I hope the black guy wins but as Robert,RT says that could be difficult because most of the whites in your country are voting color regardless of their on self interest.

  29. Lawrence Says:

All the bullshit we whites make concerning the racial state of this country can be summed up by the tolerance we have for this crude woman.
    ===========================

Ann Coulter defended calling President Obama a “retard,” saying “screw them” to critics of her tweet on Thursday.
    ============================
If she had tried being that disrespectful to the office when it was held by a white man, she would have been run out of the media. But she can do it and get an hour on CNN and other shows.

I am not considering Fox because it makes its rating off the majority white feeling of entitlement and bigotry, I am talking about the tolerance of the rest of the nation to this type of disgusting behavior to the black president.

Most of my race refuse to acknowledge the bold faced racism, much less take a stand against it. It is just the state of things among the majority of my race that we feel that we are entitled to treat OTWs as less than any white american.

I’m not trying to explain it, I am just stating the obvious.

  30. Sean Says:

Coulter’s slur just screwed Romney that’s why Mitt fired her from the campaign

in case you didn’t know Coulter was one of the highest paid promoters of the Romney campaign, she was hired to do damage control with the problem Republicans have with women voters but after the slur against Obama Ann Coulter was replaced by Carly Fiorina

  31. Posie Says:

I agree, Lawrence. Huffpo and the rest of the main stream media can be very annoying because they encourage the bigots to be disrespectful to the President. They seem to be the only ones who care about what Ann Coulter and Sarah Palin say.

They know that the majority of their viewers are white and those viewers secretly love to hear that they are better that the black man even if he is president of the USA because they are white.

So the poor white trash can watch any white person feel entitled to dis the black man.

  32. Tom Says:

Kinda like Bill Maher’s edtorials on this site huh.

  33. Larry Says:

Ann fights back—–& gives back just as hard as it’s dished out, that’s why we love her.

  34. Freda Says:

Tom, actually not at all, but thanks for sharing your false equivalence.

  35. Lloyd Says:

The republican party has become corrupt. Whenever the people become tired of those in power, the people rise up. At some point the sheep will wake up and figure out that the republican party does just enough to keep the people on simmer instead of boil.

They throw us a couple of crumbs when we grumble loud enough and then go back to the business of taking what they can, and destroying a world in which people can live sustainable and happy lives.

  36. Mac Says:

LLoyd you are a fucking socialist.

  37. Frank Says:

I would like to rip the media, Huffington post and Lawrence on the lack of Benghazi coverage. I am forced to believe that the media has abandoned Chris Stevens and the American people for a political cover up, supports a slow role that lets us know that obama lied about his direct order went to party in Vegas.

That the Libya situation was so dangerous we couldn’t use an armed drone or a C-130 gun ship to stall or even end that attack until we could get some real heavy stuff there, mind boggling. Osama Bin Laden is reborn the United States is a paper tiger.

  38. Trent Says:

Lloyd you are a communist. I hope people see through your bullshit and vote for Romney.

  39. Victor Says:

The vast majority Michelle bloggers are liberals who like to bash conservatives, unfortunately. Those who like to think (blue, red, whatever party) are in the minority.

  40. Helen Says:

What I often find interesting is how the republican party pretends to be so moral. I mean only white america can call any part of the South “the Bible Belt.” I mean those bastards practiced slavery and some of the most vicious evil ever done to one human by another.

Actually, they are not far from doing the same thing whenever they can get the law to look the other way. Yet, the sanctimonious hypocrites insist on referring to the area as the “Bible Belt.”

They are the epitome of chivalrous behavior in all the movies of the souther gentleman. White america acts in congruence to foster that LSOS at every opportunity.

No white man could possibly claim to be chivalrous when they were enslaving and raping black women and practicing the most horrendous acts of incestuous pedophilia in the history of the human civilization.

These creatures continue to foster the belief among themselves the idea that they are more human than the rest of us because they say so.

If I believed in Christianity, I would be forced to believe that that race represents the anti-Christ. Simply evil manifesting itself as humans. Running around screaming Jesus while committing the most satanic acts possible.

I dare any true Christians to refute those facts.

Me, I can’t wait until this election stuff is over. I miss Howie and the simple life of Aliens and the fate of the Universe as we don’t know it.

  42. June Says:

Denying women of color the opportunity to participate in civic life because of voter ID laws removes their ability to voice their opinions and hold lawmakers accountable on reproductive health issues.

It certainly appears that it will take the organized efforts of the OTW woman because the white woman on whole seems to be quite satisfied with allowing their men to decide their fate.

  43. Ito Says:

I have to agree with you June. White women were directly responsible for the election of the House of Representatives that voted 55 times on anti-woman measures in the 112th Congress.

If left to white women to save this country from misogynistic tiny pricked white boy, America would see the disenfranchisement of every woman in the country.

We as OTW women must organize and do something about what has happened so far. I mean twenty-two states passed 61 new measures restricting women’s reproductive health in the first nine months of 2012.

How much must we take from these sick white boys?

    Chew Your Veggies!

    Q. My wife says that I may not get the most nutrition from my vegetables because I don’t chew them for long. Is this true?

    A. Perhaps. It’s always best to chew your vegetables and other foods thoroughly to grind them into a soft form for optimal digestion.

This is especially important for anyone who has gastroparesis (a condition that reduces the ability of the stomach to grind food and empty its contents) or any other gastrointestinal movement disorder. You need to break down the tough cell walls in vegetables so your body can absorb the flavonoids, polyphenols and other nutrients in the cells.

Studies show that up to 70% of the nutrients in raw vegetables are not absorbed by the body.

If you have gastroparesis or just want to boost your nutrient intake, lightly steam or briefly microwave vegetables. Mixing them in a blender or juicer will also help the body absorb more of their nutrients.

Try to eat a variety of brightly colored vegetables, including red, orange and dark green.

  45. Human Events Says:

    Friend,

With less than two weeks to go, we’re feeling the momentum.

The debates have supercharged our campaign and the Republican team. We’re seeing more and more enthusiasm — and more and more support.

This has become more than just a campaign. It’s become a national movement. Americans recognize we can do better as a nation than we’ve done over these last four years.

Paul and I and the Republican team have a plan to produce a real recovery for America. We’re going to take back this country with good jobs, rising take-home pay, a strong military, and better opportunities for all Americans.

This is a time to call on America’s greatness. We need your help — because it matters. It matters for your kids and their kids. It matters for 23 million Americans struggling for work. And it matters for the future of our nation to have a strong economy.

Contribute today to help us keep up the momentum.

Thanks to you, the movement is gaining steam — and your continued support will propel us to victory.

    Thanks,

    Mitt Romney

  46. Otis Says:

Actually, no one has proved that Romney lied. Not in the least. What is going to cost Obama this election (in addition to his failed first term) is that he and his minion are so wedded to their straw man talking points they can’t see how they are not playing. These tactics fall apart when the other person is standing there.

  47. Nolan Says:

I thought the media failed woefully in the first dabate. Instead of calling out Romney for all his l1es, instead they blamed Obama for his poor performance. I agree with this writer.

If Obama loses this election, I will change my party affiliation to independent. I am very discouraged, I feel like this President has not been given the credit he deserves and I think it is because he is black. I am a physician, and I am black.

I had to work two or three times as hard as my white classmates just to get same recognition. I teach my children to work as hard as they can because that is the only way they will be recognized because they are black.
