This ‘N That Chitchat
Posted by Michelle Moquin on January 26th, 2013
Good morning!
No main topic for today – just want to catch up and say hello.
Social Butterfly: Happy to read you are still here. All is going well. Busy as ever like you. “…Returning to a more leisurely lifestyle” – ahhh that sounds lovely – that is in my plans too…in my near future. We’ll get together then. For now I am here and it is just another day in the life of… :)
Janet: :)
Robert, RT: Nice response. Women know they can count on you for their support. Miss seing you here. How are you?
Pamela: Any way LOVE is expressed is beautiful to me. Speaking of LOVE being expressed, this came across my plate. I never saw it or even read about it till now, but here’s a little bit of respite from all of the hate in this world:
Diego: That is new news to me. But your comment intrigued me so I did check it out. Repub Cathrynn Brown states,
“House Bill 206 was never intended to punish or criminalize rape victims,” Rep. Brown told New Mexico Telegram. “Its intent is solely to deter rape and cases of incest. The rapist—not the victim—would be charged with tampering of evidence. I am submitting a substitute draft to make the intent of the legislation abundantly clear.”
Even though Brown, staunch pro-lifer, changed her original wording because of the flood of complaints. Like most repubs they will try and pass radical legislation and then try and backtrack by acting as if that is not what they meant to do, when they get a backlash. She is no girl’s girl.
Carmen: Great article in the sense that this info needs to be out there – thanks for adding to the conversation and posting.
A lot is at stake here. Bayer will lose billions if the EPA does the right thing and bans neonicotinoids. However, bee populations are vital to agriculture and farmers will lose billions if honeybee populations continue to plummet. And then there are our children …
Yeh…our children. The answer is clear to me. But then big corps most always go for the big bucks, and put health of the planet and of our people in a faraway second place. Their poisoning their own and if they don’t care about their own, they certainly are not going to care about yours.
Terri: Oh I wish there was an answer to that question.
Insaf: Amazing isn’t it? Here in the world, we have examples, live examples of what life would be like. One would think we would learn from our sisters that are living it.
Zen Lill: It was nice to catch up. Thanks for sharing the photos of miss Lily – she is quite the young lady now!
Jacob: I loved reading those words, but more importantly, I loved that you already took action. Mothers too need to educate their young boys. You are being a great example. Perhaps your wife will take a clue. Thank you.
Madhubala: My heart is sad for you and my sisters abroad. I cannot imagine the fear that you live. Please don’t lose HOPE.
Ingrid: Yes, Maddie is one bad ass babe, who can kick some ass. But the real power lies in our own hands…when women finally say enough and band together. Then together and by each other we are self empowered. That is where the true power lies and where we must reach so that we can be examples to our mothers, and sisters, and aunts and most importantly our young girls.
Alex: Femicide. That is a new word to me. I don’t like the sound of it and rightly so. I’m with you. We vote them in to office, so we get what we ask for. Thankfully we women came together in this last election…at least many of us who are girl’s girls, and the men that support women. It’s time for our political arena to change and be huge supporters of women, punishing men on their abuses, and not supporting those who promote and campaign on the control of women…and I see it coming.
June: Sick. Sick. What more can I say. So what if she was disrespecting him? Like we’ve said before…if women only had the fear of being disrespected or yelled at or belittled – how different the world would be. What a wimp, and a coward. Not to mention the man is probably a LSOS, but what can we say, the woman is dead.
Dorothy: Good advice.
Maria: Consider yourself lucky.
Niti: I am aware of your situation and it leaves me speechless. I HOPE soon that something is done to stop this inhumanity.
Al: It does feel like old times doesn’t it? And by the way, this BABE doesn’t request that anyone leaves the blog unless they want to or they don’t like what they’re reading. Your presence is always welcome here. You have a fan club that misses you. I HOPE you’ll stick around for a while. Thanks for sticking up for women.
Howie: I HOPE the post puts many men not only in a somber mood but that they do something as you suggested. Thank you for the inspiration toward the men and for being one of the good guys as well.
Helen: That is just so wrong, I don’t know what to say. (Louise: Fixed. Thanks.)
Mark: How wonderful to read your comment. Thank you for sharing and more importantly for doing something. I know you’ll be an inspiration to other men to step up and do something too.
Readers: I know it is a late post but I haven’t been able to chitchat for sometime now. It feels good to connect. Have a beautiful weekend!!
Peace & Love

Thank you Michelle for your TED article, I hadn’t heard about it but so many of my friends had. I had to borrow a computer to write this. I read your blog when I can.

So one of the largest catholic hospitals in the nation with hospitals in more than 14 states got sued by a man whose wife died pregnant with28 week old twins.
So the catholic hospital gets their lawyer to argue they owe nothing to the man because ——TA DAH——- a fetus is not a person.
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/01/25/bizarre-catholic-hospital-argues-that-7-month-old-fetuses-arent-persons-in-wrongful-death-legal-battle/
The hypocritical bastards. It seems that MONEY trumps their god and life.
BIZARRE: CATHOLIC HOSPITAL ARGUES THAT 7-MONTH-OLD FETUSES AREN’T ‘PERSONS’ IN WRONGFUL-DEATH LEGAL BATTLE
But if you want and abortion, then Hello, suddenly the life begins at conception. Unless of course some malpractice occurs in one of their hospitals and you sue them, then Hello——- A FETUS IS NOT A PERSON. Ergo, when money is involved life begins at Birth NOT Conception.
Again it is about men attempting to control women.

Wow Gretta, that’s unbelievable…talk about talking out of both sides of your mouth, holy smokes…
Misch, yup, she’s bucking for my car now : ) she asked me today: why do boys even exist? I think I said uh, uh, hmmm, uh um…or something like that : ) – no offense to the good men but where the heck are you all hiding? lol…
I saw this on FB: SLUT – a woman with morals like a man

I’m so proud of Guam: Peace Corps volunteer and Guam native Lorianne Mercado is on a mission to make a difference for Kenyan children by building a resource center in Kabuchai village, where she currently lives.
The Peace Corps was established by President John F. Kennedy to help people of interested countries meet their needs for trained men and women, to promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of peoples served and to promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.
Mercado grew up on Guam and is now a volunteer in Kabuchai village in Kenya. She has been there for just over seven months and will be working with a public heath organization for two years.
“Being from Guam does give me a unique perspective,” Mercado said from her village in Kenya. “I felt like it was easier for me to adjust because in Guam we had typhoons often and there would be times that I would have to take bucket baths, conserve water and live without electricity.”
Even though the organization she works with in partnership with the corps focuses on public health, Mercado saw the need for educational resources. In one primary school, 878 children were being taught by 11 teachers between eight classrooms.

How the Flu Vaccine May Help Your Heart
An annual flu vaccination helps you ward off, well, the flu (duh!), but get this—two new studies show that it also may help shield you from heart attack and stroke.
Yep, we’re talking about protection from two of the top five leading causes of death.
Now, I know that the flu vaccination, which is usually administered in the form of a prickly needle, can be intimidating to many. (Personally, I always have to turn my head away when my doctor injects it!) In fact, about two-thirds of Americans skip it.
And some people are wary of the vaccine itself, thinking that it is not proven safe.
But please hear me out. If future research confirms that getting this one shot once a year provides this triple-whammy of health benefits—less risk for flu, heart attack and stroke—it’ll be harder than ever to say “no, thanks” the next time your doctor offers it to you.
Learn how it might guard your ticker, below—it’s an especially important read for anyone at high risk for cardiovascular problems and anyone with an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD)…
VASCULAR VICTORIES
In one of the studies, half the participants had heart disease and the other half didn’t. Flu shots were administered randomly to half of all participants. And the stunning result was that those who got the shots (regardless of whether they had heart disease) had roughly 50% lower risk for having a “major cardiac event” such as a heart attack or stroke during the following year. Fifty percent!
The second study looked at heart disease patients who had implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs)—devices that monitor patients 24/7 and automatically try to fix irregular heart rhythms by delivering electric shocks—and while results were less dramatic, they were still pretty amazing.
Among patients with ICDs who hadn’t gotten flu shots in the previous year, 13.5% of them needed one or more shocks from the device during flu season…whereas among those with ICDs who had gotten flu shots in the previous year, just 10.6% of them needed one or more shocks from the device during flu season.
Neither study addressed whether patients got the flu—researchers were solely analyzing heart-related outcomes.
FORTIFIED AGAINST FLU AND MORE
It’s interesting to think about how this completely common injection may act as powerful armor against such life-threatening health problems.
How, exactly, might the flu vaccine provide such benefits? One theory is that when the body gets the flu, inflammation increases, which may cause blood clots. In other words, by helping to prevent the flu, the vaccine may help prevent this dangerous domino effect from occurring.
Source: Both studies were presented at the 2012 Canadian Cardiovascular Congress.

Zen Lill, in addition to my disgust at the hypocrisy of Catholic Health Initiatives, I have to express my sorrow for Jeremy Stodghill, who has lost so much so suddenly.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:19 pm
Paying with lives is fine. It’s the paying money they’re objecting to.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:19 pm
And people think atheists are evil…
January 26th, 2013 at 4:20 pm
Just one more example of the horror that is the Catholic Church and Catholics.
Just fucking disgusting.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:20 pm
I live in an area that has three Catholic hospitals in it, and the nearest not Catholic one is 45 minutes away. I’m completely terrified of having a medical emergency and ending up in one of those hospitals. I doubt I’d actually come out.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:21 pm
I wish I could be surprised. No attempt to save those tiny little ones? There must have been a small window of time when they could have done a C Section and attempted to save them.
Imagine they were very, very small, but little ones less that 1 1/2 pounds have been known to survive now. Even if one had survived, the husband wouldn’t have lost 3 people all at once.
Obviously I’m no doctor, but a few times I have read that “fetuses” have been saved when the mother has died. How awfully convenient that Colorado law states that fetuses aren’t people.
The fact that the Church has claimed for centuries that the instant conception takes place makes the invisible dot a person is only used when it is protesting a woman’s right to end a pregnancy or telling all faithful Catholic couples that they are supposed to make babies and do nothing to prevent conception.
It doesn’t apply to a pregnant woman who dies? The hospital and the Church are full of bull. How can anyone, after this, continue to fall for the line the Church continues to spout? Apparently the dead twins weren’t worth the effort. Their parents weren’t Catholic–did that make a difference?
January 26th, 2013 at 4:22 pm
Naked duplicity and hypocrisy. When they want to control people and posture about being moral authorities, they evoke what they claim is “God’s law,” but when they get into trouble, they run and hide behind “Colorado law.”
As written in the Gospel of Astucious, “Know thy place, which is beneath the feet of the princes of the True Church. Thou shalt doeth what the Lord sayeth, not what the Lord doeth, and His word comes to you only through His righteous chosen emisaries. They shall not be subject to thy questioning.”
January 26th, 2013 at 4:22 pm
Well it’s the Catholic church, could you really expect anything more?
January 26th, 2013 at 4:23 pm
A fetus is a person, unless it is a financial liability to the catholic church.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:24 pm
By all means Catholics, contribute your arguments to the pile of case law supporting the precedent that a fetus is not a child.
It will be great fun to have your own words read back to you when you are filing briefs in support of anti-abortion legislation or defending yourselves for letting a woman die rather than terminate a dangerous pregnancy.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:26 pm
Your commentary is illogical. They are being sued in a court of law. They’re not denying their doctrine. They’re stating the facts of the law under which they’re being sued.
You haven’t considered that this is precisely the kind of PR they DO want. If it outrages people in the public that these kids are not recognized as people, maybe it will generate support for changing the law.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:29 pm
The background: Lori Stodghill was seven-months pregnant with twins when she suffered a heart attack. She was taken to St. Thomas More hospital (a Catholic hospital in Colorado), but died due to what appears to be a negligent doctor. Her twins died, too.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:31 pm
JD #20, what are you some kind of Idiot pretending to be an attorney?
1) Yes they are denying their doctrine. How often do we hear these Fuck-offs braying about how God’s law supersedes man’s law?
And yet when they screw up, instead of sticking to their beliefs and admitting it, they go running to man’s law for protection.
2) This is not going to cause support for the stupid notion that a two-celled piece of tissue at conception is a person. That’s what most people in the country don’t believe.
There’s already wide support for a third trimester fetus having some rights. Hence the fact that they can only be aborted if the mother’s life is in danger or if they have a fatal defect.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:34 pm
Seriously, JD #20? Please do tell me that you’re joking. Please.
The Catholic Church spits in the face of law when it comes to taking away the rights of others, most notably women. They are gleeful when women die or lose organs in order to support their position that a fetus is a person deserving of rights (way more rights than an actual woman, actually).
They will deny laws about carrying health coverage with birth control, because OH MY GOD the PRECIOUS CHILDREN. But the moment the Church might have to pay consequences for their own mistake, they hide under “the law under which they’re being sued” and deny their own doctrine.
All to make sure they don’t have to pay a dime for the family that lost these fetuses, errrr., people, err… fetuses, uhhh…..
Do you really believe this is going to give them POSITIVE attention? All they are doing is showing how extremely shallow the entire “Pro-Life” position is, and proving, once again, that the only thing they care about is themselves.
They only “care” about the fetus or zygote or sperm or precious child or whatever when it allows them the opportunity to exercise their power and control over YOU.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:34 pm
Barbara, I learned a new word today and that word is braying.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:35 pm
What people are outraged about is that the catholic child rape cult constantly lies, for money, for power, or simply because they despise truth with every fiber of their being.
And they change their lies, without admitting it, the instant it’s convenient for their pocketbook to do so, and deny having done so whenever they can profit from it.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:36 pm
They can’t have it both ways, and trying to have it both ways exposes the bankruptcy of their position.
January 26th, 2013 at 4:42 pm
Seth MacFarlane and his “Family Guy” nailed this with his “Partial-Terms of Endearment” episode.
Peter learns the propaganda of the anti-women/abortion side and falls for it. When asked why he says:
“No Lois, I’m here to save the unborn. Once they get out of the vagina they can go fuck themselves.”
Let’s see if I can find a link….

Hafa adai, Superior Court Presiding Judge Alberto Lamorena says there’s an unknown epidemic that is plaguing the community.
Speaking to Rotarians this afternoon, Lamorena talked about drug addiction being a major problem on the island. In 2002 the Adult Drug Court was created and over the last decade has helped several hundred drug users fight their addictions.
Many of the adult drug court defendants were committing other crimes to maintain their drug addiction. “Those people are burglarizing, stealing and robbing people.
The drug dealers are selling a particular potent drug. It is almost addictive from the first use. This is not weed.
People, wise up. When someone offers you a high for free, it is NOT free. They are trying to get you hooked so you will become a customer.
If someone offers you Ice for free, they are setting you up for a dreadful time once they have made you an addict. That is their intention. The drug is made with a new chemical that makes it very addictive.
