Who Would You Choose?

Posted by Michelle Moquin on November 24th, 2008

I was once asked, ‘If anyone is going to have all of the power, who would it be?’ How would you answer that question? Who would you trust? Some people might choose a person that they think would be able to handle the job; someone who they felt would make the right decisions for them. But who would make the ‘right’ decisions?

Lets play. Let’s say the world was going down…kind of how the world feels currently despite our new president-elect. The ‘power’ is up for grabs, but this person in power is going to decide all of the important decisions in life in regards to the world and the people of the world. If you were given the opportunity to have all of the power, or to give it to someone else who would you choose and why? What characteristics, abilities, strengths, would you want for that person in charge to have? Who would you want to be in control?  Would you feel you were qualified for the job or would you look to find the most qualified candidate, and why? What questions would you ask this person? What would you ask of yourself? What criteria would be considered for you to make a decision?

If someone’s going to have all of the control…If anyone is going to have all of the power, my answer would always be in any circumstance, ‘It is going to be me.’  Why? It’s not that I am power hungry but if anyone is going to make decisions about my life, I am the best qualified. Many people would look for the most qualified person instead of taking on the responsibility and choose themselves. But who would be more responsible than me?  Who has my best interest at heart more than me? I am the only person I can truly trust and if anyone is going to be making decisions that are going to affect my life, I am going to make those decisions.

‘But what about the rest of the world’, you ask. Who would I trust most to make the right decision for me, let alone for the rest of the world? Me. I trust myself. I trust that I would have the people’s well-being at heart. I know this about myself. Would I trust that someone else would? Considering what I have learned about people in power, the answer is obvious, so I choose me. I mean what makes another persons decision better than my own?

If it comes down to a few others and me…if anyone is going to make decisions about my life, if anyone is going to be in control, if anyone is going to have all of the power, I choose me.  Ah…yes, with great power comes a great deal of responsibility…but again who would you trust?

Readers: Who would you choose?

Hi ZL: How goes it? I just have a lot on my mind but nothing that I won’t work out. No pain, no gain. I could just use a little bit more of the latter. :)

Hans: Get over yourself and your narrowminded white thoughts. All of the people of this world are special in their own way. How I wish that we could traverse the universe and meet other beings so that we humans could finally come together and see that there are others even more different than ourselves out there. Maybe then racism would cease to exist, and we would see all humans as world citizens on this planet earth and unite as one.

Hello AH:  How are you? Well…If there was any chance that you could have that opportunity, I say, ‘Go for it.’ If I had Obama’s ear I would be whispering the same into it. Good suggestion. As far as other measures that could speed up the overall recovery – what do you suggest?  Please share – you know we could use all of the help we could get.

Money: Hang in there.

Gratefully your blog host,

Hi Mischa, nice lengthy chat today, thanks for that, that last laugh stuck with me for awhile : ) and now I cannot even remember what it was, just how hard I laughed, felt good.

So to answer your above q, bc I see no one else will : ) I’d pick me (surprise!) with several key advisers and a set of classified back up advisers so I don’t get bum info from those who think they’d influence me : ) all done very top secret like ; )

Hey Money, you’re are so not alone, unfortunately, maybe when the key billionaires are done having fun with their pawns and stop laughing so hard at our perceived stupidity for putting them in charge we can stop bleeding cash, I know I’m not happy about it. I’m trying to enjoy what can only be called a humbling experience…and have been very busy staunching the $ bleeding that I have not had time to research squat, though of course I want to.

OK, ciao for now, Zen Lill

  2. Health Info Says:

    Heartburn Relief

    Ara DerMarderosian, PhD
    University of the Sciences

Many people who suffer from heartburn take over-the-counter antacids or expensive prescription medication, such as esomeprazole (Nexium) and lansoprazole (Prevacid). These treatments can help but often cause side effects, such as diarrhea and dry mouth.

Heartburn, a sharp, burning pain under the rib cage, occurs when stomach contents “back up” (reflux) into the esophagus.
Chamomile, ginger and deglycyrrhizinated licorice have long been used (in tea, extract and tincture) to relieve heartburn as well as indigestion and intestinal irritation. Their effectiveness is supported by anecdotal evidence. For relief proven in clinical studies, try pectin, a substance found in the outer skin and rind of fruits and vegetables. Apples and bananas are among the best sources of pectin. If you suffer from heartburn, try eating an apple (do not choose green or other tart varieties) or a banana to see if it relieves your symptoms.
Pectin supplements, which are available at most health-food stores, are another option. Take at the onset of heartburn until it subsides. For dosage, follow label instructions. Pectin supplements are generally safe but may interfere with the absorption of some medications, so check with your doctor before trying this supplement.
Caution: Chronic heartburn (more than twice a week) may indicate gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition that should be treated by a gastroenterologist.

Bottom Line/Health interviewed Ara DerMarderosian, PhD, a professor of pharmacognosy (the study of natural products used in medicine) and Roth chair of natural products at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. He also is the scientific director of the university’s Complementary and Alternative Medicines Institute.

  3. Respect Says:

All good relationships are based upon mutual respect. If you do not feel respect for your partner, or believe your partner is losing respect for you, then consider ways of rebuilding it immediately. Respect is the key. If you have true respect for one another, then nothing can go wrong. You just have to find the right person to respect, this is the hard part.
