Good morning!

A dear friend of mine sent me this. It was posted for International Women’s Day, but hey….it’s good any day.

Every Woman is Divine

By MariaShriver.com

In 2010, Jesse Dylan and Maria Shriver collaborated on an original short film that premiered at The Women’s Conference that year.

The film, titled “Every Woman is Divine,” is a beautiful meditation on the power, progress and potential of women and girls around the world.

Since Friday, March 8 is International Women’s Day, we thought the time was right to share the film again.

Get ready for the goosebumps!

And after you watch it, be sure to share it with a woman you love.

I am sharing it with all of the women I love, right here, right now – Enjoy!

With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.

I agree every woman is Divine. My sweet lady holds my emotional reality in her every action. If she is down I am up only to bring her back from her low.

If she is up the world is fantastic! All is well for me. How lucky is it to me a man and see a woman happy.

  2. Leticia Says:

I am so inspired and touched by this video. It is a great reminder of the ability we have within ourselves to achieve things beyond what we can ever imagine and be that source of courage, strength, faith and grace for our daughters and fellow sisters. Thank you for sharing, Maria!

  3. iK7 Says:

I have been here for a short time but my association with the female species of this planet encourages me to recommend it as the only adventure here to yield whole-heartedly to.

  4. Ym Says:

I might have this blog to myself tonight. Hello iK7. I agree the greatest intimacy and fulfillment one can get on this planet is through a relationship with a woman.

Traveling her emotional highway with her enables you to trade your issues and hang-ups for the wonderful secrets of life in her world.

  5. Lois Says:

My beautiful woman has been by my side through it all. Love you Pia.

  6. Ym Says:

Me again. I agree a good and wise woman can definitely help you navigate life. If she is down to earth, her advice will never be nagging rather it will be brimming with good advice with a lightheartedness that will fill your being with Sunshine.

  7. Jolene Says:

I have been passing as an earth female for 93 years. It has been a horrendous experience at the hands of most men. But the women themselves are filled with humility, generosity and many other wonderful virtues. All of which has made the experience worth it.

I have decided to stay for another 100 years.

  8. Sonja Says:

Michelle, I love your blog. It has been difficult for me to get on for the last two days. What is the problem?

    I like being Divine, myself.

  9. Ruth,SM Says:

There are many introspective questions involving the relationship between the female psyche and the male sexual appetites.

I have and continue to enjoy exploring making a really nice balance of both.

  10. Cheryl Says:

Howie, it seems no one can couch you out. I hope you are doing well.

  11. Health Info Says:

7 Things Your Hospital Won’t Tell You (That Could Hurt You)

We trust hospitals with our lives. Sometimes that trust is misplaced. A remarkable 25% of all hospitalized patients will experience a preventable medical error of some kind. Here are seven things your hospital might not tell you…

Your surgeon has experience—just not with the operation you require. A recent study by researchers at the University of Michigan found that surgical death rates are directly related not to a surgeon’s overall experience but to his/her experience with the particular operation being performed.

Depending on the operation, trusting a surgeon who performs your procedure only rarely could make you four times more likely to die than you would be with a surgeon who performs it regularly.

    What to do:
Ask your doctor how many times each year he performs the operation you need and how that figure compares with other doctors in his specialty. Call the office of another doctor in this specialty as well, and ask how often he performs this operation.

You don’t necessarily need to select the doctor who performs the operation the most, but be cautious about one who performs it far less than the average.

You can’t trust marketing claims. Hospital advertisements often promote the facility’s “number-one ranking” or say that the hospital has a “comprehensive center” for the treatment of a specific health need. Such claims often are overstated.

    What to do:
Read the fine print about the hospital’s advertised number-one ranking—that top-ranked status might be restricted to a very specific measure or malady that has little to do with your needs.

The Web site http://www.HospitalCompare.hhs.gov provides more meaningful hospital information. If a hospital claims to have a “comprehensive center” for the treatment of your condition, ask how many patients with this condition the hospital treats, then compare that figure with other area hospitals.

    Helpful:
When you meet hospital workers in your community, ask which hospital they would choose if they needed care. A recent survey conducted at 60 reputable US hospitals found that in one-third of them, half or more of health-care workers would not feel comfortable receiving medical care in the unit in which they work.

Doctors recommend the procedures that they know best, not the ones that are best for you.

Many operations now can be performed through minimally invasive procedures. Rather than cutting the patient open, small keyhole incisions are made in the skin, then the doctor inserts a tiny camera and long instruments to perform the surgery.

The pain resulting from these minimally invasive procedures tends to be substantially less than with traditional open operations, the recovery times shorter, the risk for infection lower, the scars smaller and, in almost all cases, the odds of a positive outcome greater.

But too often, minimally invasive procedures are not even mentioned to patients as an option because their doctors don’t feel comfortable performing them.

    What to do:
Do a Web search for the name of the operation you require, along with the words “minimally invasive.” If the results suggest that there is a minimally invasive alternative that your doctor didn’t mention, ask your doctor, “Am I a candidate for the minimally invasive procedure?”…“What are the differences in complication rates and recovery times between the open and minimally invasive procedures?”

Seek a second opinion if you suspect that your doctor might be pushing open surgery for reasons that have more to do with his abilities than your needs.

The hospital’s plastic surgeons may have little or no training in those fields. A license to practice medicine is a license to do anything in any medical field—even procedures well outside a doctor’s area of training.

Lately doctors trained in other specialties have been switching to plastic surgery without significant additional training because that field offers very high earnings potential.

    What to do:
Confirm that a plastic surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (www.ABPLSurg.org).

You might be better off going to your local community hospital than a prestigious research hospital. Patients tend to assume that famous hospitals offer the best care, but patterns of where doctors go for their own care suggest that for routine health situations, patient outcomes tend to be better at community hospitals than at big academic medical centers.

    What to do:
Lean toward prestigious research hospitals if you have a high-risk or complex condition such as cancer, heart problems or a high-risk pregnancy…but toward well-regarded community hospitals for hernia surgery, an appendectomy and other routine conditions.

You’re probably better off with a doctor who doesn’t seem omniscient. Patients might feel more secure when their doctor seems to have all the answers, but they’re probably better off with a doctor who knows he doesn’t know everything.

My research team found a strong correlation between hospitals where the staff reported good teamwork—including doctors willing to consult with other doctors—and positive patient outcomes.

    What to do:
Raise the topic of seeking a second opinion with your doctor. It’s a good sign if he encourages this…a bad sign if he becomes defensive.

There might be no safety net if something goes wrong during your outpatient medical procedure. Fully 38% of outpatient procedures now are done in ambulatory surgery centers that have no adjacent hospital.

If something went seriously wrong during such a procedure, the patient might have to be transported to a hospital for emergency treatment—and he/she might not get there in time.

What to do: For any major surgical procedure that requires general anesthesia, choose a medical facility that is in or connected to a hospital.

Source: Marty Makary, MD, MPH, associate professor of surgery and health policy at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Baltimore.

He is author of The New York Times best seller Unaccountable: What Hospitals Won’t Tell You and How Transparency Can Revolutionize Health Care (Bloomsbury).

  12. From the Desk of Dianne Feinstein Says:

Rather than work with the President toward a compromise that moves our nation forward, right-wing ideologues have put forward a partisan wish list, and called it a “budget.”

Once again, they’re trying to end Medicare as we know it and leave our seniors out in the cold. Once again, they’re trying to defund health insurance programs that cover millions of Americans.

If the extreme right wing insists on pushing an agenda that hurts the middle class, than we need to organize against them. And I’ll need your help for that.

The end of the first FEC quarter of the year is in 9 days. Can you chip in $5 or more before then to help our grassroots network grow?

    http://action.diannefeinsteinforsenate.com/strong-grassroots

The only way we can get things done is if all sides come to the table. But the partisans don’t seem interested in a path forward. Otherwise they wouldn’t have jammed through a budget that they know will never become law.

They’re pushing an agenda, not a solution. The American people want real progress, and I intend to keep working until we get it.

I hope you’ll continue working with me. Our grassroots organization still has work to do — and we still need your support to do it. Click here http://action.diannefeinsteinforsenate.com/strong-grassroots to contribute $5 or more today.

Thank you for your continuing support.

  13. Elizabeth Says:

I love this blog because it celebrates women without pretending we are without our own flaws.

I visit at least once a day.

  14. Igor Says:

The Defense of Marriage Act has to go.

In three days, the Supreme Court will hear arguments on the constitutionality of DOMA. This is a landmark moment for marriage equality. DOMA is unconstitutional discrimination, plain and simple—and polls show that Americans overwhelmingly agree. Even former President Bill Clinton, who signed DOMA into law, has recently come out against it.

The Center for American Progress has signed onto an amicus brief—a legal document arguing for the repeal of DOMA—filed with the Supreme Court. We need your immediate help to amplify its message. Will you show your support for defeating DOMA by signing on to support their brief right now?

Click here to add your name in support of our anti-DOMA brief:

DOMA has been a blot on our Constitution, and a direct assault to our core values since its passage in 1996. By prohibiting the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriage, DOMA symbolizes our government’s failure to treat all Americans equally under the law.

DOMA has to go. Support CAP’s amicus brief to the Supreme Court by adding your name now.

It’s time for the federal government to live up to its ideals. The repeal of DOMA would be a huge step forward.

    Thanks for your support,

    Igor Volsky

  15. Lea Says:

Hafa Adai, did anyone feel that earthquake? I hope it doesn’t get any worse.

  16. Brittany Says:

Sadly, Michelle, white boys are forever attempting to compensate for their sexual inadequacies by oppressing women.

10 Terrible Amendments Offered Today by Senators
The Senate has been debating the Democratic budget for the past few days. One of the quirks of Senate rules means that the amendment process on the budget is completely open, allowing senators to file and request a vote on an unlimited number of amendments.

They don’t even have to say what their amendments are in advance, but many still choose to file them in advance. Since the process is so open, a rarity in the gridlocked Senate, senators often use this opportunity to file highly political message amendments.

We sifted through the more than 400 amendments filed and found dozens that are terrible, ridiculous, nonsensical, damaging, or just plain crazy. Here’s a look at ten of those proposals.

BOSS IN YOUR BEDROOM: Sens. Fischer (R-NE), Cruz (R-TX), Johanns (R-NE), and Enzi (R-WY) introduced an amendment to put your boss in your bedroom by allowing them to deny you birth control coverage based on their beliefs, not yours.

This is just one of numerous anti-Obamacare amendments offered by Republicans. Incidentally, the law turns three tomorrow. 42 GOP senators and 2 Democrats voted for this amendment.

NRA-FUELED CONSPIRACY THEORIES: Sen. Inhofe (R-OK) offered an amendment that would prevent the U.S. from signing on to the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

The NRA and other right-wing groups falsely claim that this is some backdoor gun grab, which led the Senate to fail to ratify the treaty last year. The NRA is currently making a full court press to kill or at least gut the treaty. Sen. Vitter (R-LA) offered a similar amendment that would prohibit the U.N. from registering or taxing Americans’ guns, something the organization obviously has no plans to do.

HOUSE GOP BUDGET: While Republicans found time to cook up hundreds of other amendments, it seems no Republican senator wanted to vote on the House GOP budget as a substitute for the Senate Democratic plan.

When Democrats offered the draconian Ryan plan that ends Medicare and raises taxes on the middle class in order to slash them on the wealthy, a measly 40 GOP senators voted for the plan from their counterparts in the House. Three GOP senators, however, voted against it because it wasn’t extreme enough.

GIVEAWAY TENS OF BILLIONS TO WALL STREET BANKS: In the same so-called “reconciliation” bill that was necessary to finish passing Obamacare was a provision that stopped routing federal student loans through the big banks. Previously, the banks acted as a middleman between the federal government and borrowers, reaping billions in fees each year even though they bore no risk because the government was the one guaranteeing the loans. The banks role was eliminated in 2010 and the money was shifted to Pell grants.

Earlier today, Republicans put forward an amendment to repeal all of the Obamacare bill, including the student loan reforms. This would literally take money away from students and hand it over to the Wall Street banks. 45 Republicans backed this proposal, which also was the third time this week that GOP senators forced a vote on repealing Obamacare.

OBAMAPHONE: One of the more racially-charged moments in last year’s presidential campaign came when Republican groups promoted a video of an African-American woman proclaiming her support for Obama because, she said, the government was giving out free cell phones, among other things.

The Drudge Report and other right-wing media immediately dubbed this the “Obamaphone” controversy. As it turned out, the FCC’s Lifeline program offering free cell phones to low-income Americans began under President George W. Bush and is based on a Reagan-era program to provide low-income Americans with subsidized telephone service.

Sen. Coburn (R-OK) offered an amendment to “reform” or, more likely, eliminate, this otherwise obscure program that is important to low-income Americans.

MITT ROMNEY’S TAX PLAN: The Democratic plan raises close to $1 TRILLION in revenue just by closing loopholes that benefit the wealthy and corporate special interests like Big Oil. Republicans wanted to replace this with revenue-neutral tax reform that used the money to pay for huge new tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations instead of using it to reduce the deficit.

This is almost identical to the Romney-Ryan tax plan that raised middle class taxes and which voters soundly rejected last year. All 45 GOP senators voted for this recycled Romney plan, which Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) also included in this year’s House GOP budget.

KILL WIND JOBS, SEND CLEAN ENERGY INDUSTRY TO CHINA: Sen. Alexander (R-TN) wants to repeal the vital tax credits for wind power, just as Mitt Romney proposed last year. This would kill 37,000 jobs more or less immediately and effectively cede the clean energy industry to China and our other foreign competitors.

LEAVE THE UN: Sen. Paul (R-KY) proposed one measure to save a very small amount of money: withdraw from the United Nations.

RACE-BAITING WELFARE LIES: You may remember that Mitt Romney and other Republicans advanced the outright lie that President Obama “removed the work requirement from welfare.” This was categorically untrue, but that didn’t stop Republicans from airing millions of dollars in ads about it.

In any case, the GOP campaign of distortion around the amendment has resulted in no states taking advantage of the flexibility requested by some Republican governors that the Obama administration offered to grant.

Nevertheless, Sen. Inhofe (R-OK) is still so concerned that he offered an amendment to address the non-existent problem of the work requirement having been removed from welfare. For good measure, he offered a second mean-spirited amendment that mandates drug testing for welfare recipients.

CREATE A PERMANENT IMMIGRANT UNDERCLASS: Sen. Sessions (R-AR), who has faced charges of racial prejudice in the past and was once denied a seat on the federal bench as a result, put forward a proposal to bar even those immigrants who receive legal status from receiving numerous tax breaks directed at the working poor.

This would even prevent immigrants from receiving tax breaks that they are claiming on behalf of their American citizen children.

When will my white sisters get a clue and stand united with OTW women and vote these bastards out?

  17. Grace Says:

This white girl can’t understand her fellow sisters who continue to mouth the bullshit white men utter when are running scared of sharing the pie with OTWs.

  18. Henrietta Says:

Politicians are egotists, which makes it psychologically impossible for two candidates to join together. There will always be a disagreement as to who will be the presidential candidate.

With the exception of incumbents I can’t remember any president/vice president ticket in a primary race.

  19. Dan Says:

Not all white women vote as their men tell them. My wife and her family are all registered Republicans. Her mother stated, that if Gingrich got selected, she would vote to reelect Obama. In fact, Gingrich had little or no respect from other Republican party members of my acquaintance. If he ran, Obama might have been given a sizeable landslide.

  20. Colletta Says:

It was obvious to see that Gingrich and Santorum just didn’t like Romney. Any wonder why Gingrich calls Romney a “liar” and the worst Republican in the country? And, it’s no wonder why Santorum says “you’d be better off voting for Obama than voting for Romney”.

My opinion, it would have been a horrible mistake if Romney somehow snuck his way into the Oval Office.

It would be terrible having a President who thinks that nearly half of all Americans are worthless, and his VP candidate who thinks that a great per centage of Americans are nothing but “takers”….. Even though Romney claims he has nothing to do with Bain Capital, he is still recieving mega millions from them.

Along with him seeking to extend the Bush tax code Provisions, another one of his incentives could have been the fact that Bain Capital is in partnership with Huwaei telecommunications Corp. of China, who is seeking to takeover the US telecommunications networks.

Many fear that China could gather vital information, or completely shutdown our networks. If the deal went through, Romney and his coherts from Bain Capital would be even more filthy richer than they already are. So, there was no need for Gingrich and Santorum to form the “Unity Ticket”.

Romney and the Republicans lost anyway, and I doubt if Gingrich or Santorum would stand a chance of getting into the Oval Office…
