Ariel Castro Arraigned On Kidnap, Rape Charges

Good morning!
I am sure many of you are reading about the recent hot topic of the 3 girls that have been held captive for over a decade in a house basement in Ohio. I am sadly once again sickened by the abuse of men. There is so much chatter going on – Were the police lazy and uncaring when it came to investigating the perpetrator/rapist/abductor, Ariel Castro, who calls himself a sexual predator? In my opinion, yes.
There have been past reports of him abducting his own children and abusing his wife, and yet why were his actions not taken and looked into more seriously when they were reported? As Lacy pointed out “We also learn how incredibly inept the police are,” and I too echo Robert, RT, “…calls them ‘high school diplomas,’ they only act to gain extra hours in back pay.” These are the men that are supposed to protect us.
I hate to say this but the truth is we women need to take our own lives into our own hands because we cannot rely on the men in uniform to come to our aid. They just could care less. More and more we are shown this. And every time I see a cop put to the test, I ask myself, what more can I do to protect myself?
And the more “normal” the man seems, the more I feel we need to be suspicious, because that is how it seems lately. “Oh…he was such a nice man…He would come over and share a beer, pet the dogs, water my lawn…blah blah blah.” The perps are smooth and they want you to think that they are “normal” so that you’ll trust them.
Sorry guys, even if you are a nice guy and aren’t a perp, my radar is on high alert. I am going to take precautions as if you are a perp, or at least a possible perp. And I’m going to take all precautions because I do not EVER want to be in a position that these and so many other girls have had to endure at the hands of disgusting men.
If you are a decent guy and this thought process pisses you off. Tough. Deal with it or do something to help women so that we don’t have to live on high alert.
And now I read Castro is blaming the girls. Its their fault for being kidnapped. Castro writes: “They are here against their will because they made a mistake of getting in a car with a total stranger.” Ugh…I am so sick of men blaming the woman. Men just can’t seem to take responsibility for their own sick behavior. If he was is such need of a wanting help he could’ve asked for it. Instead he bound these women and raped and abused them as he saw fit. He even threatened to kill the girls when one became pregnant and was born premature because he starved and punched the pregnant girl in her stomach. Yeah…blame the girls.

Ariel Castro arraigned on kidnap, rape charges
The suspect was making his first court appearance since three women were freed from captivity.
Handcuffed and wearing a dark blue jail jumpsuit, Castro stared at the floor throughout most of the five-minute hearing, even while exchanging words and a few nods with his attorney, public defender Kathleen DeMetz.
It was Castro’s first court appearance since Amanda Berry’s screams on Monday alerted neighbors, then the police, then the world to the nightmare she and two other victims — Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight — have endured at the hands of a sadistic captor in his west side house.
In a brief explanation of the charges, prosecutor Brian Murphy alleged that they were based on Castro’s “premeditated, deliberate and depraved decisions to snatch three young ladies from Cleveland’s west side streets to use for whatever self-gratifying, self-serving ways that he saw fit.”
He said the women were forced to endure a “horrifying ordeal for more than a decade” in which they were had been “bound, restrained and sexually assaulted.”
“They were never free to leave this residence,” he said, referring to Castro’s home on Seymour Avenue.
Murphy noted that the girls disappeared suddenly almost 10 years ago, but re-emerged “thankfully and miraculously” three days ago.
As Castro continued to look down at his feet, Murphy noted that while the suspect was now being held by authorities “the women are free to resume their lives that was interrupted and also with the promise and the hope that justice will be served.”
Cleveland Municipal Court judge Lauren Moore then set bail at $8 million. She said that if Castro, who is unemployed, should post the the bond, he is ordered to have “absolutely no contact with the victims or the victims’ families.”
“I knew that the bond would be extremely high,” said DeMetz, Castro’s attorney.
Castro did not enter a plea, which DeMetz said would be done when the case is transferred from the municipal court to the county court. She said it was “quite possible” that the county prosecutor will charge Castro with additional crimes.
Castro, who has been under suicide watch during his confinement in the medical ward of the municipal jail, will be transferred to the county jail.
CBS News, quoting an unidentified law enforcement source, reported Thursday that FBI agents found a note in Castro’s house, apparently written in 2004, in which he apparently contemplated suicide and asked that all of his money be provided to each of his victims.
In the note, CBS’s investigative producer Pat Milton reported, Castro wrote that he was abused as a child and was raped by an uncle.
DeMetz, the public defender, said she met with Castro for 30 minutes Thursday morning to review his rights and court procedures. She declined to say whether he talked about the case or describe his demeanor.
She said he had not spoken to his brothers Thursday and that the men had been held separately.
Knight, now 32, remains in a Cleveland hospital. But Berry, 27, and DeJesus, 23, returned to their Cleveland homes earlier Wednesday for their first time in almost 10 years, where they were surrounded by family and friends.
The kidnapping charges include Berry’s 6-year-old daughter, who was conceived and born in the house on the city’s west side. DNA tests are being conducted to determine the child’s father.
Castro two brothers, Pedro and Onil, who were arrested along with him on Monday, also appeared with him in court. But prosecutors say there is no evidence linking them to the abduction and rape case or suggesting they had any knowledge of it.
They were in court on unrelated misdemeanor charges, which were quickly dispatched. The judge then ordered the two brothers released.
Even as prosecutors finalized formal charges, some grim details have emerged from an initial police report on what went on inside the house at 2207 Seymour Avenue on Cleveland’s west side.
The victims have told investigators similar stories of being abducted by Castro after he offered them a ride home from school or work.
The report, obtained by Cleveland TV station WKYC, sketches the outlines of the victims’ descent into hell. It is rife with details of beatings, chained confinement, starvation and death threats.
It alleges that Castro impregnated Knight five times, forced her to starve for weeks at a time and punched her in the stomach until she miscarried. Castro, the report said, also forced Knight to deliver Berry’s baby in a plastic kiddie pool and threatened to murder Knight if the newborn died.
“Michelle stated that Ariel told her that if the baby died, that he’d kill her,” the police report states, according to WKYC’s Tom Meyer.
The report then tells of the next few harrowing minutes as Knight fought for her own life and for the life of Berry’s child, Jocelyn, who had stopped breathing during the birth.
Knight, the report said, put her mouth to the Jocelyn’s mouth and “breathed for her” to keep them both alive.
The report, according to WKYC, says Berry managed to escape on Monday because Castro forgot to lock the “big inside door” when he left briefly to go to a local fast-food restaurant. She then alerted neighbors and called 911.
In newly released police audio tapes, a 911 dispatcher notifies officers on Monday that she’s just spoken to a woman who “says her name is Amanda Berry and that she had been kidnapped 10 years ago.”
An officer on the recorded call says, “This might be for real.”
Once police arrived, the officers checked the basement and then walked to the second floor.
“As we neared the top of the steps, Officer Espada hollered out, ‘Cleveland Police,’ at which time … Knight ran and threw herself into (Officer) Espada’s arms,” the officer writing the report noted. “We then asked if there was anyone else upstairs with her, when (DeJesus) came out of the bedroom. “
Espada then put Knight down and DeJesus jumped into the officer’s arms.
As the victims settled into their sudden freedom on Wednesday, Nancy DeJesus, Gina’s mother, thanked those who had helped the family over the past nine years.
“Even the ones that doubted, I want to thank them the most,” she said. “They’re the ones that made me stronger, the ones that made me feel the most that my daughter was out there.”
Gina’s aunt, Sandra Ruiz, called on friends, relatives and the media “to give us time and privacy to heal.”

Readers: Castro is going to be held in captivity all right, just like the girls, but for probably a lot longer. And if he’s lucky he’ll get to experience what it’s like to be someone’s play thing, and see how he loves it. He use to drive a bus giving kids a ride. The bus is gone – Now all he is going to be is a ride. Payback is a bitch.

What an evil monster this Castro is! He and that cowardly murdering thug, Joker, are poster children for the death penalty. Please tell me why in the hell taxpayers should keep these truly evil, cruel cowards alive one more day.
They have admitted to their crimes and now is the time to execute them and let it be known that crimes like theirs will not be tolerated in the future.
To kill/maim over 260 people and to keep three young women in captivity for over ten years are such terrible crimes and we need to change our laws in order to be able to rid our society of these human pieces of garbage.

This just sickens me. I cannot even imagine what these poor girls went through day after day for 10 long years while the rest of us just went on with our lives.
I pray that they can recover and enjoy the rest of their lives. God bless each one of them. They deserve only the best from this day forward.

I don’t understand why his brothers aren’t being held. Didn’t they live in the house? How did they not know the women were being held captive?
Am I missing something? How did his daughter not know there were others trapped in her fathers house? Did she live somewhere else and never go in his house?

This guy kidnapped, raped, and held captive three girls. He beat them, starved them, and tied them up, but what might get him the death penalty is TERMINATING A PREGNANCY BY FORCE? WTF? Having subjected those three girls to horrible abuse for ten long years seems like the bigger crime to me.

How desperate are some members of my race? You be the judge. Recently a plot was discovered in which white officers making up the 5th Bomb Wing in Minot Air Force Base conspired to steal 6 nuclear warheads to deliver to a separatist White Nation Brotherhood.
The public story went like this. – The Air Force has taken swift action on those who many people felt put the country and the world in danger two months ago. According to a press release from the Air Force, 70 Airmen have been punished for a lack of security related to nuclear warheads flying across the United States. A B-52 flew from Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota to Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, carrying six nuclear-tipped missiles and six missile silos. The silos were going to Barksdale to be decommissioned (with the warheads removed before transport), but no one had any knowledge of the active nuclear warheads onboard.

Of course no one had any knowledge about the 6 missiles and their launching silos because thieves don’t tell the owners when they are stealing their property. They would have been stolen if Anonz did not have some of the conspirators on his payroll.
He alerted Obama to the attempted theft and the plot. The plot was to use the 6 nuclear to demand Obama’s resignation and the secession from the the nation of the South and and 3 other states.
If the US refused they would launch the first nuke towards New York and proceed along a longitude and latitude that would have destroyed the upper northern seaboard.

If it was believed that the USA was that close to being broken up into two separate nations, the stock market would crash over night and there would be such an international run on the nation’s T Bills that we would be bankrupt reduced to a third world entity in the blink of an eye.

What I would suggest to my white supremacist friends is that, they should remember what happened when Bush destroyed the government and Iraq. There was no law and order and just as important, there were no civil services that the people depended on for the services provided by those government departments.
You should ask yourself, what and who will replace the orderly law and order and the other services provided by the US federal government.
But I really don’t expect any logical process from rabid racists. It seems that they will do anything to maintain the entitlements given to them under the original Constitution.

Wow, MikeTM, when you show up with news, you give…thank you, what a fiasco. Glad Anonz was in there to avert disaster, wouldn’t be the first time though…glad he’s alive and well to assist us all. Thank you for the report and the news spin.
Misch, if we all got back to teaching the common sense lessons to kids (and some adults) we’d all be better off, my father was a cop and I know they’re hated here, though as a father and protector he was on it. He told me exactly what to do in prep for bad situations, a 14 yr old daughter who looks 18 was enough for him to spill it while i was young…and it did happen when I was fourteen, lived near acres of woods and I was waiting for a bus, alone, on a very quiet morning, a man drove by twice, fist time casual asked me if I wanted a ride, the second time he came on stronger and had his pants unbuckled insisting I get in the car, I ran two blocks to wait for the bus in front of the fire dept, caught the license plate, the rest was history…not everyone is as prepared or has the time and place to run to, I got lucky. Though preparation is key.
So tell your daughters that bc there are bad men out there, if they’re feeling uncomfortable about a request to ‘find their dog’ or a ride or whatever, to just run to a public place with people (not always possible) and get license plate #’s if possible, try to remember description of person, in a car do not pull over on quiet roads, drive to public place the cop will understand (and too bad if he doesn’t) and well, the common sense list goes on, no walking at night alone, excessive drinking isn’t a good plan…sounds like a lot of stuff to put on females but if there’s so many bad men out there, you have to watch your back. Prosecution happens after the damage is done.
My disclaimer: I am not blaming those girls for getting abducted, merely stating that you have to give your kids some plans of action for complicated modern living (where bad men get to roam around pretending to be ‘normal’).
…and I received a text fun photo thing from a friend today that said, ‘men cheat because men are assholes’ and ‘women cheat because men are assholes’ hmm, too true, so – if the shoe fits, wear it, dudes.

As always, I am at your service Michelle. Mike,TM, it is also true that many of the white supremacists in the Marines use rape threats to terrorize vulnerable service women into doing their bidding.
Many of them are being required to join the military especially the Marines and Air Force to gain the military skills and knowledge they need to teach the lay followers.
The military has hidden many rapes and murders that involve actions by its supremacists members. The problem is there southern and western bases are practically over run with them.

Lillie, clearly there is more details to this story that are either being omitted purposefully or they just haven’t uncovered or they won’t disclose to the public while this piece of human garbage and his related human garbage are being investigated.
I’m not going to defend cops, though I know there is a protocol to regular ‘domestic’ calls, not sure about exact protocol for this type of ‘domestic’ call (since it’s kidnapping, and a whole slew of other wrong things) and why one wasn’t one ever made before, this story has lots of holes in it so far. How these girls were kept undercover in an average neighborhood for ten years without prior suspicion is just baffling to me…it’s not like they lived on acres of land…
Nathan, I’m glad, that’s perfect, and have a family word, too. I told my kid if anyone ever told her they were sent bc I couldn’t make it, that if they didn’t use the words popcorn and sophisticated that they were not sent by me and to run for a public area. I’ve got more common sense lessons for kids and young adult women and a friend told me, you should publish that, yeah…well, there are too many people who would call it blaming women (or putting the onus on women) for male (or human garbage) bad behavior, I call it the ‘ultimate in loving self care’ bc some/many men are bad, let’s face it, so we have to do what we must…

Michelle, I hope you will do an article on rape in the military. Presently, President Obama is woking with women to curb the persistent rape of women in the military.
It is shameful to say, but the top brass has been looking the other way since women have been allowed to serve in the military. Basically they have been using military women as if they were in a brothel.
This attitude came from the top down. Unless the high ranking officer(one star or above) is gay more than likely he has at some time in his career either participated in a rape or looked the other way when one was reported to him.
That’s why most of the high ranking men officers refuse to charge men under them with rape. By supporting the lower ranked men who do, they are in a way validating their own behavior when they were junior officers. Many still do not want the “benefits” of the old days to go.
I know that many of the field grade officers I was with after the Vietnam war used to brag about the fact that every nurse that worked for them was repeatedly raped. It is a secret fact that every nurse that worked in the military that served in the Vietnam war was raped at some time during that war.
I am committed to preventing women from being abused in or out of the military, but it is ridiculous that men charged with justice in the military claim that rape is a problem too difficult to deal with.
President Obama, unlike all the Presidents I knew before him, refuses to tolerate even one woman on his watch being raped. He is determined to change the military brass’s attitude about rape. He says if he has to, he will force a revision of the UCMJ(the Uniform Code of Military Justice) system to insure that women will get justice when they report rape.
Chuck Hagel appointed by President Obama as Secretary of Defense is one of the best appointments made to that position in a decades. He will work to end the cavalier attitude towards the rape of women.
Hagel has a tremendous burden ahead of him. Rape as terrible as it is, is just one of the seriously wrong situations in the military.
The President is committed to ending this attitude towards rape in the military, but he will need support. The men will resist in every way they can. If women lose focus they will find that nothing will change.

Anonz, why don’t you admit that the problem with your military is the same one in just about every instance in your country, white men.
White men have made women sexual toys for their enjoyment since they were allowed to become military members.
When you say that it almost no high ranking males in the military have not been in some way involved in rape of a military woman, what you are actually saying that since only white men were eligible to be high ranking officers in the military, then it is white men who have encouraged and perpetuated the attitude that women in the military for the sexual pleasure of males.
What, you can’t own up to your race’s evils? How about the fact that it is rumored that your removing tens of billions of your dollars suddenly from Greek financial institutions has practically bankrupted out country.
Rest assured we are adding to the billions that China has put on your head.
If it pops up in our area, it will be chopped off.

The republican’s sequester has taken about $9 billion out of the investment industry. They are working with the 1% to insure that they control all new inventions by removing the federal government from financing the ideas of up and coming entrepreneurs.
If this group of crooks get reelected in the next round of House elections, this country will be owned exclusively by that 1%.

The truth is that the white MSM encourages the racist attitudes by the republicans by acting as if the actions of this group is a legitimate debate.
They make statements that the Law is “anything but settled.” Oh so we are supposed to accept that if the republicans pass a Law it is a done deal and it becomes the law of the land.
But if a law is passed that is not liked by whites it is not the law of the land.

The AFCA has enabled the health care cost to go DOWN for the first time in the history of the country.
Before “Obama Care” if a woman was a victim of spousal abuse it was considered a pre-existing condition by insurance companies.
“Obama Care” has eliminated pre existing conditions across the board.
Yet, most whites are willing to repeal it. Racism for white is almost an opiate.
