What’s In Your Make-up?
Posted by Michelle Moquin on September 4th, 2013
Good morning!
Girls: Do you know what’s in your make-up? I know most of us love make-up, whether we wear a lot or a little. But do we really know what we’re putting on our faces? I do and I HOPE you do too, because most of the ingredients in the popular brands are toxic.
I like to wear as little make-up as possible just because I feel more comfortable with less. And, when I do wear make-up, I make sure that I am putting the least amount, if any, of those toxic ingredients on my face.
Although I am in the fashion business, you can laugh at me, but I don’t go for the designer make-up with the expen$$ive price tag. I get my thrills shopping at Whole Foods or other natural food stores for the makeup that is the least damaging to my skin. Dr. Hauschka is one of my faves – I love it.
Here’s a video that I found that I HOPE might be of interest to many of you, and I HOPE might inspire more of you to think about what you’re putting on your beautiful precious face:
There Are Over 10,000 Toxic Ingredients In Beauty Products

Girls: I HOPE you’ll consider doing a little research on your beauty products and do your face a favor and only put on the good stuff. :)
Peace & Love to all of you.

I thought that Republicans would relish the opportunity to lavishly decorate Obama’s face with egg on this one and send him slithering back to the White house in defeat! But NO! Flake goes all flakey, because he can’t compute the political side of this thing, nor can he tell right from wrong. America out of the middle east- this should be easy, Reagan had enough of the insanity after Lebanon in 1983…..

Reagan was a crook who bargained with Iran to keep our people prisoner until the election was over so he could use it to get elected. He then paid them back by selling them arms. He then got Olivia North to steal some of the millions from our treasury and use it to start a war in Central America. http://www.salon.com/2011/02/04/busby_iran_contra/
The man was a LSOS as Walsh all but said during his independent charged investigation. http://www.brown.edu/Research/Understanding_the_Iran_Contra_Affair/profile-reagan.php
If you idiots would stop just accepting the talking points and google a few things you would not make such fools of yourselves by touting reagan a criminal who had the most prosecuted administration in the history of the Presidency. It was the most corrupt administration in the lives of most Americans. http://liberalslikechrist.org/about/Reagan.html

Hi Denny, thank you…and regrettably an tight on time this week though I will get to more info soon. Appreciate the kind words : )
Mischa, Dr H has THE best stuff on the market, luv it all…I don’t wear all that much make up either though I do recommend ‘color science’ face powder/sun protection – it has real zinc oxide fr sun protection not the ‘SPF’ chemical bs we’ve all been sold on, the only reason peeps don’t use just plain zo anymore is bc it looks all white on your face and never blended well, the overly Chem stuff on the market is trash and zo is a mineral and will not harm you, check it out.

Makeup is overpriced and toxic despite the fact that there are cheaper natural products that are just as good. Simple.

Vaseline has been used on baby’s bottoms as a moisture barrier against diaper rash for God knows how long and some skin-care products still include it in their formulas…along with other chemicals that you pay for but don’t need…so I would trust it more than fancy formulas with ingredients that you can’t pronounce.
It also doesn’t have any odors, which drive me crazy. I don’t use anything on my face, since there are enough oils on your skin there to keep it well-moisturized if you don’t strip them away with harsh soaps of chemical makeup and makeup removers.
Lanolin is also a good product that can be used on your lips and the dry parts of your face, but it, too, has to be spread on wet skin to distribute it thinly and evenly…and it costs a fraction of some of those fancy skin-care products…but it’s very sticky and needs to be spread on wet skin, too…and it has a slight “wooly” odor, since it’s made from the secretions of the oil glands of sheep. Nothing more natural than that! :)

I gave “green” cosmetics and deodorants a good try. They all made me break out in bad rashes. The natural deodorants were the worst – angry red bubbly rashes under my arms. Going back to the “unnatural” stuff was a tremendous relief. I tried. I really tried.

As a consumer of cosmetics for many years I know the quality went down after Peta started supporting the animal testing ban. The “safer” brands are the worst because they are lying about the safety of ingredients. The expensive brands tend to have better quality but not always.

I heard exfoliation daily is NOT a good idea. Removal of nail polish: use non-acetone remover. Its in the drug stores. I notice as I age, the foundations I use seem to just “lay” on the skin and make it look fake.
Even with Kiehl antioxidant toner and expensive moisterizer. Looks like the skin will change and require different approaches.

Actually, I had read an article a few years back discussing natural deodorants and the chemicals that are used in them to prevent your sweat glands from producing. They actually said that by applying deodorants everyday causes your skin to become immune to it and actually sweat “more” when you stop using it.
Similarly to when you use chap stick everyday or petroleum jelly and when you stop using it your lips become super dry from the withdrawal. Your skin becomes addicted to the daily use of it.

Oh, My Aching Foot! Help for Common Causes of Foot and Leg Pain
The average person walks the equivalent of four times around the world in his/her lifetime. No wonder foot problems plague more than three-quarters of US adults! The good news is that we can take steps on our own to relieve the pain. Here are the most common symptoms and problems—and what you can do…
ACHILLES TENDONITIS
Symptoms: Pain above the heel or in the back of the leg.
Even though the tendon in the back of the heel is the strongest and largest in the body, it’s still among the most vulnerable—and when it hurts, it can hurt a lot.
Inflammation of the tendon, known as Achilles tendonitis, usually is due to overuse. The tendon gets weaker and susceptible to injuries with age. If you overwork the tendon—say, by spending a few hours on the dance floor or the basketball court—the fibers can develop small tears and get inflamed. It typically takes at least three months for it to heal completely. In the meantime, don’t engage in high-impact exercises such as running, and switch to low-impact activities such as biking or swimming. Also…
Start with ice.
Ice is one of the best ways to reduce inflammation and help the tendon heal. When you first feel pain at the back of the heel, apply an ice pack for up to 20 minutes. Keep applying ice throughout the day—and keep the heel elevated as much as possible for a few days. You can further reduce inflammation by taking aspirin or ibuprofen.
Try heel lifts.
These are thin wedges that slip into your shoes. Raising the heel as little as one-eighth of an inch reduces stress and helps the tendon heal quicker. Use lifts in both shoes so that your body is balanced.
I like Spenco Rx Heel Cushions and AliMed Heel Lifts. Both are available online and in pharmacies and some stores.
Important:
If you can’t stand up on your toes even for a second, there’s a good chance that the tendon has ruptured (completely torn). Surgery is the only treatment for a ruptured Achilles tendon.
MORTON’S NEUROMA
Symptoms: Feels as if a pebble is in your shoe…pain in the ball of the foot.
Morton’s neuroma is a thickened nerve in the ball of your foot. It typically causes sharp pain or burning that gets worse when you walk.
The abnormal growth of nerve tissue is the body’s response to irritation—usually from shoes that are too tight or from wearing high heels. Anything that puts repetitive pressure on the toes, including activities such as jogging, can cause Morton’s neuroma.
Wear wider shoes. Giving the toes more room to move reduces pressure and causes the neuroma to shrink back to normal, possibly within a month or two.
Stretch your toes.
The nerve may be trapped under a ligament in the foot. Stretches will lengthen the ligament and open up space over the nerve. A few times a day, use your fingers to bend your toes up and down. Stretch them as far as you comfortably can, and repeat the stretches about a dozen times.
PLANTAR FASCIITIS
Symptoms: Stabbing pain in the heel of the foot.
A thick band of tissue (the plantar fascia) runs across the bottom of the foot. It connects the heel bone to the toes and creates the arch. Small tears in the tissue can cause burning/stabbing pain, particularly in the morning.
Important:
Get a second opinion if your doctor recommends surgery. About 90% of cases heal with conservative care within a year.
Apply ice.
Hold an ice pack over the painful area for 15 or 20 minutes, three or four times a day.
Replace your shoe insoles.
The Powerstep brand of insoles support and cushion the plantar fascia and help it heal more quickly. You can buy insoles at pharmacies, sporting-goods stores and online for $15 to $60.
In many cases, they work as well as prescription products (which can cost $550).
Use a tennis ball or rolling pin to gently roll along the bottom of your foot (while sitting).
Take aspirin or ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation.
Replace worn-out athletic shoes.
They stop cushioning your feet after about 500 miles of use.
See your doctor if the pain isn’t gone within three months. He/she might recommend a steroid injection. Used judiciously, steroid injections can help heal a chronically inflamed area quickly. Three steroid injections per area are the maximum for one year—more than that in a year can weaken tissue.
SHIN SPLINTS
Symptoms: Pain that runs along the bone on the front of your lower leg.
Shin splints are caused by inflammation that affects muscles and the underlying bone. They usually are caused by activities that involve sudden stops and starts, such as aerobics, jogging, tennis and basketball. They also occur in people who walk a lot in hard-soled shoes.
Use ice to reduce inflammation. It’s the most effective treatment for bone and ligament trauma. When you are in pain, ice the area of the leg—10 minutes on and 10 minutes off, as needed.
Try arch supports.
They slip into your shoes and support the bottom of the foot. They reduce stress on the lower leg and will help shin splints heal more quickly. I like the brands Powerstep (see above) and Superfeet.
Talk to your doctor about bone stimulation. If the pain of a shin splint lasts more than a few months, you may have a stress fracture at the tibia. Your doctor might recommend a bone stimulator, a prescription device that uses ultrasound or electrical currents to stimulate new bone growth. Bone stimulators are worn daily for a minimum of three hours per day for 90 to 180 days.
BUNIONS
Symptoms: Bump and pain at the base of the big toe.
A bunion is a bony hump that forms on the outside of the foot, where the big toe emerges from the foot.
Take it seriously, even if it doesn’t hurt. It means that your big toe is pushing in the wrong direction. It can lead to joint damage, as well as a misalignment of the other toes. Some people are born with a tendency to develop bunions.
More often, they are caused by narrow, ill-fitting shoes (particularly high heels) that press the toes into odd positions.
Wear sensible shoes.
“Sensible” means that the shoes are wide enough to allow your toes to move. Avoid shoes with sharply pointed toes or heels higher than two inches.
Do foot exercises to relieve symptoms and increase flexibility. Point and flex your toes, or massage the bottom of your foot with a golf ball.
See a doctor if the bunion is painful or getting larger. It will get worse unless you take care of it. The treatment might be as simple as a custom-made shoe insert that will reduce pressure on the affected joint. Surgery (bunionectomy) is recommended only if the bunion is persistently painful and doesn’t get better with other treatments.

Check out the water website (click on my name) and i checked w many sources before believing, a year of research…
Skin ‘moisture’ comes from staying hydrated internally at the correct pH (to offset a basically acidic diet and belly environment & a side bene of water, its loaded w antioxidants and microclustering fr easier absorption of nourishment from your food/votes into every cell), its not something external full of chemicals you don’t need like creams, lotions, etc, also toner water is at 5.5-6.0 pH and you can get that w this water product also, read the free ebook, tells the story…(& it creates water fr disinfecting and degreasing as well, get rid if all those expensive and harsh home chemicals too while your at it!), not touting. Not selling. Offering you free info, take me up on the offer or don’t – it’s your skin and home, mine are both chemical free, just switched over my housekeeping service to it as well, her hands looked like hell, I showed her that water could be made to smell like bleach and be 99.99% disinfecting (stringer than Lysol)…off the GREEN soapbox now : )

Let me try another tactic. But first let me say I am a gay man and a supporter of both those mentioned. To say Barney Frank is an empty dress would be a slur. To say Tammy Baldwin was an empty dress would not be.

Again that would be your opinion. As I see it both men and women can wear suits professionally. Only women wear dresses professionally.
I am not saying you are wrong in your opinion. I am only expressing mine. As for your being a supporter of both of those mentioned. I fine it almost impossible to accept that an intelligent gay person would support a member of the republican party.
The party represents almost no tolerance for LGBTs, unless there is an election brewing.
I see the Log Cabin Republicans as a bunch of idiots who desperately want to be accepted as white men by white men. They want to be a part of a racist party so they too can discriminate as white men.
Ironically they want to be able to discriminate as white men, but they don’t want to be discriminated by them, pathetic.

Alfred Hitchcock called the introduction of a distracting note a Maguffin. Continually harping on pedophilia to the exclusion of other issues seems like a Maguffin to me. Not every Roman Catholic priest or bishop was/is complicit in that scandal.

Since when is it distracting to inform the public that the person coming forth wearing the cloth of holiness and proclaiming such moral feelings is a hypocrite. His complicity in the pedophilia issue shows that he is not as morally inclined as he proclaims.
How do we know that his proclamation about Syria isn’t distracting from the articles coming out revealing his complicity in the pedophilia affair?
As for not every Roman Catholic priest or bishop being complicit in that scandal, we won’t really know that will we until the facts come out. And as long as those priests, bishops and popes continue to lie to us, we won’t know.
I don’t know about you, but I think our children deserve more than referring to their ordeal at the hands of those villains as a distraction.

Then he should find a story on that topic and reply there. I never said he was wrong. Comments and discussions should be focused on the topic and other comments should be removed. His comment was only made to incite an attack on the church not to address the issue at hand.

The issue is the Pope getting involved in America’s internal affairs. If that is so then his internal affairs are fair game. I can hardly pass a vacant ex catholic church site without being reminded it was sold to pay the $billions in retribution for the lives ruined by pedophile priests.
How you can say that is not relevant is beyond me. Those priest need to be brought to justice not hidden away by a pope that was complicit in their conduct. This very blog has published articles on his complicity. “More Evidence Emerges That Pope Benedict Helped Shield Pedophiles Before He Became Pope” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/03/more-evidence-emerges-tha_n_524192.html
It is insulting to my intelligence that he would dare open his mouth about morals when he is so full of sin. This catholic certainly doesn’t believe the God he prays to has accepted this hypocrite as the leader of His church.
