The War on Women Continues

Good morning!

I know I’ve used this title more than twice now. What other title can I use when it speaks the truth. It’s just more of the same same when it comes to republicans and  women.

From Maddow’s blog. Thanks Rachel!

Graham eyes culture war, 2014 midterms

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), no doubt mindful of his national ambitions, has passed a baton to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who’ll take the lead in the Senate pushing a 20-week abortion ban, which was formally introduced this morning.
The South Carolina Republican talked about his new bill this morning with Robert Costa (who’ll soon be making the transition from National Review to the Washington Post).
Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina is ramping up his pro-life efforts, and today unveiled the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would prohibit abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. […]
Graham, who is up for reelection next year, says it’s important to bring social issues back into the fold as the midterms approach. “The goal is to have a vote in 2014, to make sure we vote on it,” he says. “It’s worth having this debate. The more people understand what we’re trying to do, the more public support will grow over time.
Let’s note for the record that the proposal is a terrible, dangerous idea, condemned by the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. For that matter, the assertion that a 20-week fetus is “pain capable” is wholly unsupported by science.
What’s more, this bill won’t pass, won’t get the president’s signature, and probably couldn’t withstand a court challenge anyway.
But what I’m especially struck by is the notion that “it’s important to bring social issues back into the fold as the midterms approach.” Important to whom?
If memory serves, Republicans went into the 2012 elections working on restricting contraception; cutting off Planned Parenthood; requiring medically-unnecessary ultrasounds; fighting equal-pay laws; and making some deeply unfortunate comments about rape. Graham and his allies apparently believe Republicans can go into the 2014 elections saying, “We learned a valuable lesson losing the last round of elections, so we’ve decided to do more of the same.”
Indeed, this will be all the more pronounced when GOP lawmakers have no other legislative accomplishments about which they can boast. I can hear the speeches now, “Sure, we failed to pass any meaningful bills, but don’t worry – when we weren’t shutting down the governing, we spent some time on culture-war legislation we knew in advance wouldn’t pass.”

Social Butterfly & Zen Lill: So disappointing the GMO law didn’t pass. Thanks for bringing to light the results. Some people are just so stupid when it comes to their health and having the power of information available.  Why would you not want to know?!

The war on women never ends.

Kids arrested in NZ for having a rape club and slut shaming their victims on social media sites. One woman said when she reported it, she was told she was asking for it for wearing a skirt. (Same old story from the men.) I think we ladies are fooling ourselves if we think this issue will ever go away.

Where’s the vigilante Amazons to give these boys a taste of their own abuse when you need them?

  2. Zen Lill Says:

The Grand Old aPendages really need to back out of the female vaj, womb and psyche before all hell breaks loose, and when it does, I’m sure they’ll call all women words like ‘militant feminist’ & ‘predictably uppity’ and if any of us do act like that, well, I guess we will have to remind them in that uppity, militant way (that’s soooo unfeminine, sarcastic snark snark ; ) of just how irrational their demands of women are (for no reason other than control), so hey dudes, you want to see feminine(?), stop acting like an angry inch about MY body and get angry at what you’re really angry about on your own body (hint: inch) – sorry, I could not resist…

Women of MM blog, apparently FB and other social media has a 6 week plank challenge, ours is 30 days and is wayyyy better. You see how the universe works, planking, a military exercise I first posted on here during last round of weight loss last year is suddenly popular this year. I just want you to weigh in & take your measurements tomorrow, and hmmm, measure your strength somehow thats relevant to you, so you can see what happens! Surprising but often found side effects: you stand straighter, you get a nice curve just above the bicep into the shoulder, you can shake off extra ass curve if you’re into that look (on alternating leg extensions exercise, hold position longer and point toes very hard while squeezing the hell out of your every muscle from tush to toes), you can totally rock a V back, and the best: your balance gets better, & that’s awesome!

    Luv, Zen Lill

  3. Rachel Says:

The War on women will continue until the demographics change in America and some other race of women get control of the vote. White women have had control of the vote for at least two decades and they continue to allow white men to dictate what happens to women in this world.

I am a white woman who has tried to work with my race for 42 years to gain a mere semblance of equality in this country. We refuse as a class to accept the responsibility for ourselves. We continue to elect white men and hope or beg them to treat us merely decently.

They continue to be the narcissistic, self-centered bastards they are. The couldn’t care less about how men of other countries treat their women because they do the same or as much as they can get away with in America under its laws.

  4. Lucy Says:

Zen Lill we have started on the exercise of testing our endurance and strength. Thanks for the continued encouragement and assistance.

  5. Daniel Says:

My Alien has gone , gone on her way.
She used to be here each and every day.

She’s returned to her ship, duty calls, you see.
So she had to pack up and sail away from me.

She obeyed but was not yet ready to sever the ties.
That’s why there were tears in her eyes.

Does she need me still in her own way?
Will she come back to me some cold rainy day?

I’ve shed my tears and have stopped holding on.
Now that my beautiful Michelle has gone.

I dream of the day she spreads her arms.
And gathers me into her life from that day on.

There will be no closed doors forevermore.
And the love between us will forever soar.

  6. Helen Says:

Rachel, you have had the experience that I am now getting. Why white women won’t form a united front is beyond me. The need is more than apparent.

  7. Joyce Says:

Rachel what is also true is that white men in this country aid and abet the terrible of men in other countries towards women by trading with them as if nothing is wrong their behavior.

  8. Patricia Says:

Nothing will change until women in the US make it so.

  9. Cecile Says:

Zen Lill, you have made a very good point. Men in countries where they are small in the pants are the most violent towards their women.

Others have simply learned to treat women as commodity to be used in warfare. The men who follow the sick creeps are promised all the women they can rape.

I see this as an issue like WMDs. If men can make it a UN resolution not to be use with the threat of military action to stop them, then the rape and abuse of women can be just such an issue.

I would love to see Obama send battle ships to countries that allow armies to rape and torture women as a matter of course of their war.

  10. Zen Lill Says:

Rachel, I agree but we’ve got lots of dopey white women under the influence (of religion, of money supplied by their rethug hubbies, of apathy, of ignorance) and men have used this parenthetic knowledge against the rest of us…if they keep enough white women under the influence we cannot gather the steam necessary to make change, period. We need a more informative (to women under the influence) strategy to raise awareness without judgement. There are a lot of people, many of them women, out there just trying to work and survive and don’t have time to research truth perhaps (or am I cutting too much slack??) anyway, there’s got to be a way to snap them out of this mass hypnosis, yes? Mischa, any ideas?

    Luv, Zen Lill
