Who Is Really Trying to ‘Fix’ Obamacare?

Good morning!

Who Is Really Trying to ‘Fix’ Obamacare?

President Obama, Congressional Democrats, and House Republicans all have proposed changes to Affordable Care Act to address concerns over dropped policies, but not all of these so-called fixes are created equal.

While the Democratic plans seek changes to actually address the concerns, the Republican plan passed by the House of Representatives today is actually a Trojan Horse meant to destroy Obamacare and put insurance companies back in charge once and for all. In fact, Speaker Boehner (R-OH) explained that it was a “targeted strike” on the law and just one more step on the road to repeal.

(The road to repeal seems to be neverending, as the House has now voted at least 46 times to repeal Obamacare and yet it’s still the law of the land.)

House Republicans further betrayed their true motivations today when they used procedural tricks to block a vote on a Democratic plan to allow insurers to keep offering cancelled plans, expand oversight of rate hikes, and require insurers to notify consumers of alternatives to their sub-standard plans.

The GOP’s reason for blocking a vote on the bill? They said it had too manyprovisions protecting consumers from insurance companies and abusive rate hikes. Seriously.

Here’s a chart breaking down the differences between the main proposals out there to address concerns about insurers dropping sub-standard insurance plans:

EDIT_obamacare_fixes-58

BOTTOM LINE: Democrats are interested in making Obamacare work. Republicans are only interested in making it go away.

Readers: Isn’t that the truth.

I HOPE everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving!

I can see how difficult it must be for Obama to launch and work the web to get ObamaCare out to the public. The republican billionaires have made a concerted effort to control the web.

Just google to get any information about ObamaCare and you get websites that pretend to be positive but send out all sorts of lies and negative messages about ObamaCare.

  2. Lloyd Says:

You are so right David. I googled the title of this article and here are some of the hits I got.

    =====================
All but two are knocking ObamaCare in the guise of giving balanced information.

They are professional lies geared to scare people away from ObamaCare.

  3. Brenda Says:

Most of white America is so angry with a black man and a black first family that they are willing to do anything short of dragging him out of the White House and lynching him.

I am a white woman who hears all sorts of hateful racist remarks concerning this wonderful man. I dare not speak up or risk being divorced or killed.

    The hatred is palpable.

  4. Craig Says:

It is a literally free-for-all. The MSM doesn’t care what is said negatively about the POTUS because he is black. They represent the white world which hates that a black man is running the government.

My cousin is practically foaming at the mouth when he says Obama’s name. He can barely contain himself when he speaks.

His hatred for Obama is beyond reason. I asked him to calm down because Obama only has 3 years to go. He slammed my sliding door so hard it almost broke.

I’m not all that fond of a black man being my President, but I’m not going to go bonkers over it.

  5. Jules Says:

It is not even about ObamaCare. It is just the biggest thing that reminds me of that nigger in the WH.

  6. Sidney Says:

The lies about Obamacare out number the the truth by more than 10 to one.

It Obama can pull this off he may be due for the Houdini Award.

  7. Jimmy Says:

My cousin called to tell me that he had been advised to not sign up for Obama care and to just pay the tax. He called me to give me the same advise.

I said “what if you get sick.” He said “so what it is better than letting that nigger win.”

  8. Horace Says:

David & Lloyd, you are right. The web sites are jammed with misleading remarks about Obama care. It is virtually impossible to get honest information about it.

The Right has the web stacked full of misinformation and outright lies about it.

  9. Dafne Says:

Howie, you are missed. I was enjoying reading your take on the issues before I headed to duty in the morning.

    Come back and contribute.

  10. Sidney Says:

Actually that is the purpose of the SPN to pretend to be neutral while denigrating their opponent.

  11. Reed Says:

Sooooo… you mean to say that in all those millions and millions of government employees that work for that gigantic government that WE the taxpayers are supporting, you couldn’t find a few of them competent enough to fix this little problem?

    What a surprise!

  12. Vet Says:

I think it’s a great step forward to getting our new healthcare plan up and working for all the folks who want and need it.

Instead of posting narrow-minded, negative, worthless comments here , try posting useful, helpful and positive comments. Try being part of the solution to new ideas and thoughts instead of just being part of the problem.

  13. Chris Says:

This is hilarious (and sad). As another example of the government doing a terrible job at things, we need to bring in a private sector company to fix the problem.

Government always does a horrible job at everything. Why is it that people didn’t realize this when they were begging for government-involved health care. What may be worse is that google is now involved.

I think google is even worse than the government because of all the privacy concerns. I purposely use DuckDuckGo as my search engine because I don’t trust google, and I use HushMail for email, and Ravetree for social.

Anyway, that’s my plug for privacy. Government run healthcare is the worst decision this country has ever made. What a terrible terrible idea.

  14. Doug Says:

Chris, let me get behind your take on this. After decades of getting fucked up the ass by privately run healthcare programs with their pre-existing conditions, life-time limits and junk policies that are one illness away from throwing the owner into bankruptcy you are against government run healthcare.

What the fuck do you think Medicare and Social Security is?They are government run programs.

You are either a fucking idiot or a paid shill for the anti-obamacare program. Either way you can suck my dick.

  15. Louis Says:

Chris you must have shit for brains. Without government interference private enterprise would be one big monopoly ripping us off.

You ever hear of Medicare? What the fuck would your parents do without it? The republicans tried everything the could to destroy it too.

  16. Dean Says:

Chris, What’s sad is that some people will read the nonsense that you have just written, and think that it makes sense.

If you’re really concerned about your privacy, don’t use any of these services, try a pair of tin cans and string (but watch out for “man in the middle” attacks).

  17. Clement Says:

Chris, you really think the NSA isn’t archiving every single thing you do anywhere on the internet?

  18. Britney Says:

    Dean;
Besides your response being RIDICULOUSLY hilarious, I completely agree with you.

Chris: Google is a search engine..just like DuckDuckGo and HushMail. Do you really believe that using no name sites will protect a hacker from stealing your identity? Google isn’t the problem..

  19. Zen Lill Says:

I had to get an ultrasound the other day, the check in nurse was pretty grumpy so I asked her a few questions and she said this is going to get worst before it gets better (regarding ins co’s and AHA) and yes, when you change the course of a huge ship you must keep adjusting course, that’s how it’ll be fr awhile, and rethugs will keep coming into the fly bridge to turn the wheel 180 degrees, why? Bc they can and have sheeple who cannot see bc they’re blinded by skin color and frankly, every single white dude who is racist knows Obama is more of an intellectual and a world citizen then they are, and he’s got charisma and likely a swinging one to go with that whole package, pretty intimidating to handle and the envy and prejudice is palpable, you can feel it even before the foaming at the mouth begins…what a shame we’re just not a tiny bit more evolved than that.

    Luv, Zen Lill
